The guy I dealt with (the owner of the store I believe) was phenomenal. He hooked up the trailer properly. We checked the lights and they wouldn't work, so he began checking everything, and come to find out, the connector for the lights on the light was loose when he checked under the connector near the hitch. He began by checking fuses. Had no problems with all the driving I did! 5 stars for this location!Cody E.

We used this site: https://www.uhaul.com/Locations/Truck-Rentals-near-Escanaba-MI-49829/868078/ and reserved an 8x5 trailer- two weeks before we needed it. The DAY BEFORE, they said- sorry nothing is available for 50 miles! In Two weeks they could have told us there was a problem. Fortunately, a call to the Pantry Restaurant and we had a trailer secured. He was great to work with. BUT OVERALL, I am extremely unsatisfied with U-Haul. I will not use again or recommend-unless I go direct with the Pantry Restaurant.ANN B.

Taylor at rapid river was amazing for helping us fix the situation that was caused by the Escanaba location. We showed up to pick up the trailer we reserved and the worker said there were no trailers left and there was nothing he could do- even though we had the confirmation. He was INCREDIBLY rude and arrogant. I asked if we could take one of the trucks instead for the same price and he said no that would cost over 500 dollars (instead of 100). I needed a trailer ASAP because I drove 7 hours to pick up my furniture and head back downstate the next morning. Since the worker said it â€œwas not his jobâ€ to call other U-Haul locations we Called rapid and luckily they had one there. They were missing the attachment to have the lights connect though, so she sent us back to Escanaba to pick one up there. The rude worker tried them out and only one side of the trailer had working lights. He said we had to PAY for that piece (even though it should have been included) so we said screw you and borrowed my dads. The worker at Escanaba should be fired and we should be refunded.Wyatt R.

The check in process took an hour because information about the license plate number of the car we were towing with would not be accepted in the computer program.Carol W.
I scheduled a 10:00 pickup thinking I get the trailer at 10. We went there at 930 to do the necessary paperwork but the worker for Uhaul wasn't evrn coming in til 10 so we didn't actually leave the parking lot until 10:30 even after during express check in online. The worker insisted on hooking it up & he was having problems. Then he needed pictures of everything, including our vehicle plates which were already on the paperwork. Trailer needs repairs & needed to be swept out, good thing we need to stuff in there that to be kept clean as we didn't have time to clean it since our rental time was cut down by all this.Rodney B.

I would recommend the Pantry to everybody but Gene's towing is NOT a business model that U-Haul would want! I don't know why the company store is literally less than a mile away and they have a franchise at Gene's? Get it together U-Haul!!Tom J.

Due to a family emergency I was about 5&1/2 hrs late for my pickup time and the u-haul rep. was very understanding and accommodating with my situation. Excellent service, thanks so much.Lorne A.
They were great... but this trailer handled like it had no suspension at all... by the time I got from Texas to Michigan... my furniture was all damaged even though I had them wrapped in rental blankets and packed better than Allied Van Lines would do... the furniture that I hauled in my personal trailer made it there with no damage at all... only difference was the 10 ply bias tires... the thing hammered my belongings for 1500 miles... very disappointed. The trick on the other hand rode great... was like new... only complaint was the mileage... only 7mpgMichael R.
Have someone there all of the time that knows how to rent out the uhauls. We went to rent one at 11:00 and the girl working knew nothing about uhaul rentals and we had to wait until 3:15 before someone got there to help us.Jack N.

This experience was not the fault of the local dealership! I was not aware that I was being charged for another full day because I asked if I could pick up the rental one hour earlier. If I would have known this, I would have adjusted my drop off time. The issue was taken care of but I left there later than expected. But all in all, this was one of the most organized rental places I've been in.James B.
I wouldn't recommend my friends in Marquette drive 1.5 hours to get a trailer. Also the woman who called me from U-haul about my reservation told me she would give me 30% off when I was going to cancel because I didn't want to drive 1.5 hours to get a trailer. When I picked up the trailer she had only given me 20% off and it was even written in the notes that I accepted 20% off. When I tried to call U-haul about my other 10% I was on hold for 10 minutes and couldn't wait any longer.Katie W.

Pulled straight and almost didn't know I had a load behind me. Jim was very helpful. He helped this old lady with all the things my hands could not do pertaining to my trailer hitch. He had the equipment to break the bolt so my hitch could be adjusted to a higher point so the trailer was level. It was appreciated.Sharon R.

I add an issue with getting the truck on time. I had originally reserved the truck in another town and the Pantry called me and said that the other place could not get me a truck or rented it out to someone else, but they had a truck due back in. What is the point of reserving a truck ahead of time? I was very pleased with the Pantry's service but I don't know if I would ever use Uhaul again.todd T.

I reserved my uhaul online and had 2 drivers put on the registration. When I got there the second driver was nowhere to be found. Also it was showing that I didn't pay and almost got charged twice.Emily M.
