I ordered my truck for pick up a week before I needed to move to make sure one was available. I received a confirmation email that everything went through and the email listed the location I was to pick up my truck. The day of the move I took an Uber to the location in the email only to be told my truck was at a different location and I should have received a call the previous day to confirm the details. I did receive a call, I still had the voicemail saved so I played it for the uhaul employee. The voicemail did not indicate any change of pick up location so how was I supposed to know?! The employee told me I could take the truck they had at the location I was at but it was for in town only so I'd have to bring it back. I was moving 100+ miles/ 2 hours away. They should have offered to bring the truck to me, or let me take the in town truck and replace it with the distance truck! This was not an option so I had to wait for another Uber to come pick me up and take me to the correct location to pick up my truck. Oh, and had I assumed that my order request for 2 mattress protector bags and a couch cover would be at the same pick up location as the truck, I would have been wrong and would have had to drive BACK to the original pick up location listed in the confirmation email. Luckily I was smart enough to ask about the pre-ordered material and it was available at the store. Once I got to the correct location to pick up my truck the place was a complete dump. It smelled like an ash tray, had fly tape hanging from the ceiling and a garbage can full of stinky trash right by the door when I walked in. No one was in the lobby to greet me and I waited ten minutes for someone to come take care of me, after I yelled for someone a few times. They must have had printer issues because I was given a HAND WRITTEN RECEIPT! Completely unacceptable. Uhaul needs to learn how to communicate with customers and distributors! Absolutely repulsive. What a horrible experience. Moving is stressful enough, getting a truck should not be this difficult. I will never use uhaul again after this experience.
