The location was advertised to be open until 5PM everyday. We got there a day earlier then the reservation time at 4:30 PM to drop off the truck. It was a restaurant/shop and when we asked the staff who to checkout and drop off the keys they told us that the manager for the U-haul section is not there. But they said that they can take the keys and give it to them when they are back. A day later we keep getting calls from U-haul about "when" the truck will be dropped off. We told them it's already dropped off at the location. We get another call asking us if we dropped off the keys because the location couldn't find them... Eventually we called U-haul again for the 3rd or 4th time and the rep was very helpful and put a note on the reservation to ensure that the location finishes the checkin process. A day or so later they finally checked the truck in.

The key ignition would consistently get stuck and the windows were super dirty. Didn’t realize that until I actually started driving it. It was also rented out to me with an empty tank.

The location was not really the problem. I wasn’t very happy with the lack of communication from Uhaul. I had originally made my reservation at another location more convenient for me to pick up and drop off truck. The location is closed on Sundays but I was told I could check in online and get the key with a code from the key locker. On the day off picking up my truck I get to the location I had agreed to go, the app was not allowing me to check in and get the code so I called customer service. It turns out that they had made the arrangement for me to pick up at a whole different location. I was never informed of that or agreed to that. My husband and I where pretty upset, it was honestly a huge inconvenience for us. Also, when we finally got the truck it was very dirty, we had to sweep it so our furniture wouldn’t get dirty.I don’t think I want to rent from uhaul again.

I was charged for gas when I returned the truck at the level it was at when I got it - under the quarter line, near Empty. I had to put gas in myself right when I picked it up. Then I got charged for gas when I had returned it. Ridiculous, need a refund.

I was not charged correctly for my truck. I was suppose to have a 50 dollar credit for inconvenience and only .99 cent a mile not 1.39. The contract I agreed to shows for .99 a mile. I was only given 28.99 of the 50 dollar credit shown on the initial contract. I was just charged another amount today. It also showing the incorrect amount for gas charges.

They overcharged us for the miles by almost double, we did 17.9 miles and they said we did 47. They said we rented the uhaul until 830 pm but we returned it at 2:05 PM. The front desk person said to just drop the keys off and she would handle it later. We are calling to dispute this immediately. Also, a $1.39 per mile?! That is not what I was quoted.

My experience: I did the 24/7 pickup option and requested a utility dolly, appliance dolly, and furniture pads. I arrive at the pickup location for the truck and the back closing gate is open in the truck, no equipment. I get the keys from the girl inside the deli store and ask for the dollies and pads. She tells me to contact uHaul support. I do. A peasant girl sends me to a nearby address to pickup equipment. Btw, it takes me 20 minutes to do a 30-point turn to back this truck out of a tiny alley while my 4-hour clock is running. I go to the address uHaul tells me to go to so I can get my equipment. The address is a residential home. I again calm uHaul support and speak with an unpleasant condescending girl who tells me to go to any uHaul s location to get equipment. Essentially wasting more time. Making an already long story short, I wasted a bunch of time backing the truck out of a sketchy alley, my truck had zero equipment that I paid for, and it took me a week to get a refund (uHaul shorted me $7 on the refund btw, but at this point, eff it). My advice: go to a uHaul service desk/location. Apparently they farm out these trucks to local businesses for the 24/7 mobile check in rental thing and it just sucks. Personally, I’m gonna do budget truck or enterprise cargo vans for my future moves. Used both companies before and got great customer service. UHaul’s customer service is hit or miss, in my opinion.

I had my reservation for 4:30 I got there at 4:15 to check in and the place that has the U-Haul was so unprofessional and so rude. We went in for the key and the informed us that they had not closed the account for the previous renter. We had to wait for someone to close it up and at this point it is 5:20. At this point we are irritated and I asked the lady how much longer and she said “ I don’t know someone else is in charge and he’s in a meeting I have to wait for him to respond”. We had to be at the storage place o pick up our items before 6. So we needed up getting the keys at 5:40 and that took so much time away from what we had planned. I order the U-Haul at 12 pm they had more than enough time to have everything ready. The worst experience in ever it was a horrible experience super stressful for not my self and my husband.

Be sure the truck is swept out and cleaned before releasing it. The windshield wasn't clean, either. And Uhaul didn't supply us with the proper dollie we ordered. Driver before we received the truck was towing a trailer and the tow/haul aperatus was never disingaged and the Tow/Haul light kept turning on all thru the some 800 miles of the trip.

The online check in to your vehicle takes quite long and it is not advertised that you need to provide quite a bit in information that you might not carry with you to the site. Such as passport or proof of residence. Location was difficult to drive truck out of due to not having a parking lot but a random plot of land enclosed by stuff

I would prefer to pick up a truck at a location that is not also a store/market. Because the market was busy, it took over 20 minutes to rent the truck, which ate into our moving time. It was unclear to me when booking, and I would not choose a location like this again. The back of the truck also had a musty smell, which was disappointing.

We originally requested a Uhaul from Central Market in san Diego. When we arrived the store LOST the key to the uhaul truck. We had to call and make arrangements for a new uhaul truck at a new location. Inconvenient as we were on a time restriction. Should have received a discount.

The place was skechy and there was random junk on the trailer with homeless people sitting on it. I didnt let my girlfriend get out of the car and told her to lock the doors once i got out. The guy that helped me with the trailer told me that my combo didnt work even though I know for a fact it does work and has worked in the past. I had to call the main office to sort it all out before I could rent my trailer. He didnt know how to work the u hual rental interface system very well and I was forced to help him pick out the options that were extremely apparent on the screen stating that "someone else put in my info wrong" or something. It delayed my schedule and forced me to arrive at my racing event later than I would have liked. I will schedule far in advance with the main office so I can rent from the guys in city heights again. The trailer was fine, towed straight and true, and I had no issues loading my race car onto it. I will rent from u hual again in november.

It wasn't that this location wasn't clean It wasn't inviting to DROP A UHAUL OFF. It was a neighborhood grocery convenient market. However. The U-Haul sign wasn't posted well. I thought I was in the wrong neighborhood. AND THEN A WEEK AFTER I DROPPED THE TRAILER OFF (I brought it back a day early even!) U-Haul called and told me there was no record of me dropping it off. SERIOUSLY. As if moving isn't stressful enough. ugggh. I never heard back so I hope that got sorted out.

I know California real estate is more expensive, but I would start improvement with paving the small parking lot where the Uhaul trucks and trailers are stored. It's a relatively small space, so maybe it would be affordable for the owner?

The same person that tends to the shop is the one who gives out the rentals, so it took a really long time to get the trailer and when i brought it back nobody could help me inspect it so i could refurn it after 20 min the person behind the counter told me to just leave and that i would receive an e mail with my receipt, which i still have not received.
