Location was hard to find, then the people at the counter weren't helpful at all when I told them I was supposed to have a dolly and blankets. The guy basically shrugged and said “they let you book online for anything but it doesn't mean we have it”

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ My recent encounter with U-Haul left me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated, prompting me to share my experience as a cautionary tale. From start to finish, the service was marked by dishonesty and a complete lack of integrity. We rented a vehicle and made it a point to inform the U-Haul representative that the fuel level was below a quarter tank. To our surprise, we were assured that returning it with the same fuel level would be sufficient. However, upon returning the vehicle, we were hit with an exorbitant charge of over $100. It became evident that the information provided earlier was misleading, to say the least. The frustration didn't end there. Our attempt to address this issue with Kenny, a representative from U-Haul, was met with nothing but rudeness. The lack of professionalism and courtesy displayed during our interaction with Kenny was disheartening. It left me questioning the overall culture and values within the organization. This incident leads me to believe that such deceptive practices may be ingrained in U-Haul's culture. Charging customers unfairly and providing inaccurate information appear to be an accepted norm, as evidenced by our experience. It's disheartening to see a company engage in such behavior, especially one that relies heavily on customer trust. In conclusion, my experience with U-Haul was far from satisfactory. The blatant dishonesty regarding fuel charges and the discourteous behavior exhibited by Kenny are indicative of a larger problem within the company's culture. It's truly a shame to witness a business resorting to such practices, and I strongly advise potential customers to exercise caution when dealing with U-Haul.

I was unhappy with the price I got online versus the price I had to pay afterwards. Instead of the person explaining the question I had I was argued with. Overall vehicle was good so no complaints there. Just feel like the price giving online shouldn’t be up charged at the pick up site.

The truck did not drive well. It was a quarter tank when I rented it. Drove it 15 miles and returned in less than 2 hours but was charges $47 for gas alone!!!! I called and was told its in agreement under 1/4 is $30 charge and mine was one notch under. Also never requested insurance but was charged $14.99. Over $120 for 15 miles and less than 2 hours. Never again! No one informed me of any of this when I signed agreement! Terrible customer service over the phone and at location

Them truck's need little more work on running like when you,are driving it's sounds like the the motor or the engine sounds like it going out but other than that I'm good with overall thanks for your business 😉

The trucks needed to be cleaned and the water that was leaking in the box was truly horrible. My stuff was wet nothing to damaged but really aggravating.

I was overcharged, I returned the uhaul 3 hours after I rented it., I did not have it long enough to be charged for 2 rental periods. Will think twice about doing this again.

It is located behind a truck depot with no sign saying it was a UHAUL rental place. I drove past it the first time as I only had the address I did not choose this place for my drop off, I chose a location closer to my home. This location is very close to a poor neighborhood (Gary, IN) and not a place I would visit. I specifically chose a location closer to my home as it is much more convenient for me. In addition my drop off location changed several times which I did not appreciate.

I get there at the time agreed upon, I was given a paper and was told I couldnt deny the insurance because he had printed the receipt, Then the keys were tossed to me. I asked if its the one with all the snow on it. He said yes. I had to ask for the snow to be taken off, I had no shovel and had to literally kick the foot and a half of snow in front of the tires to be able to get the truck from the parking spot. The rear door was half way open and had a ton of snow in the bed. 45 min after the pick up time I was able to leave. I put 10.00 in gas in the truck it read 1/4 tank when I returned it. Just as I received it. Waited 30 minutes and when the guy finally returned I asked for a receipt, He said all is good and I will get an email. Then I get home and find a 30.00 fee plus 2 gallons of gas fee. Ridiculous. He never said I had to pay for gas and the reading he says is not accurate. I feel that this was a total scam and the worst service I have ever experienced. I will never use nor recommend UHaul again!

I believe I was overcharged about $8. I should have been charge $150.05 for 2 days with 60 miles on a $39.95 truck. My breakdown : 2 days - $79.90 60 miles - $59.40 Tax - $9.75 Fee - $1.00 ————————— $150.05 I was actually charged $158.09, Your breakdown: $165.07 charged $ 75.02 charged ————— $240.09 Total -$82.00 Refunded ————- $158.09 final amount Here’s the difference: $158.09 -$150.05 ——————— $8.04 due to me

The cabin and storage areas were clean but there was a leak in the storage area that caused my things to get wet..which was very disappointing. So even though i said yes to the it’s cleaned and well maintained question above, it was only clean, and ran well but the physical storage area is not well maintained and should be repaired before other customers experience what i did..

Inside the box was dirty and it only had a 1/4 tank. I have rented from Uhaul at different locations and usually truck has more gas. Past that everything was fine.

The trailer was full of debris, nails, screws, bolts and broken glass. This unit requires a pigtail for the lights and we had to drive the unit off the lot without lights and find a pigtail to purchase because the rental manager didn't have one.

Do not allow businesses to represent you that are not on time, dont have a truck ready when its supposed to be, refuse to let u have a truck for multiple days, and lie to you about it when u reserve it 2 weeks in advance. This is 2 separate locations im talking about. The the one is busy bee auto in valparaiso, Indiana. I will never, EVER recommend these places to anyone (not even someone I dislike). As a matter of fact, I would stronger urge them to hire a moving company instead because these 2 places have completely ruined the uhaul experience for me so I will never risk this crap happening to me again. Good luck corporate uhaul. I hope you trip some fat and only allow ethical businesses to represent you in the future. This was a terrible experience for me and my family.

The last two times I reserved “ a guaranteed “ reservation and was giving options to choose time of pick up, equipment was either not there or proper personnel to print up paper work.

Rental location was late opening, which resulted in receiving truck late; due to lack of communication. The truck smelled of Marijuana, however, was clean on appearance. The rep was disgruntled by something whether personal or business, it affected his mood. The paper work was completed, so... when we took the truck to return it we had to wait and contact the Gary Indiana location and ask for it to be completed so we could be charged for the use. From start to finish (excluding David at the return location) we had difficulties with U-Haul.

This is not the fault of the business owner, but the entryway in and out is a bunch of massive potholes... Glad I was driving a big truck... I know re-paving is expensive, but it would be nice if the landowner could at least fill the potholes for safety..

The uhaul sales person not at location, was told he wasn't going to be in for a hour after our scheduled pick up, was was told to call different locations, after finally getting trailer, it didn't work properly and pin was locked up on it, finally was able to fix ourselves.

The location did it well as usual, the only thing is about Uhal directly, the trailer we reserved in Michigan City IN wasn't available (even after your confirmation), but that happens. The guy from Castle Storage in Michigan City was ABSOLUTELY unhelpful and didn't show any goodwill to find a solution. We had to manage that ourselves and Uhaul didn't made any discount for the trailer we had (bigger and with ramp). Above that the trailer we had in Gary was damaged and not showed on photos you sent ........ an easy way to make money for you !
