Martin DToday, I rented a car and ran into an issue with getting the keys. The pickup location for the rental car was near a hotel. I registered through the app, but after completing the registration and payment, the app told me: Show this message to an employee at the office to skip the line. Everything would have been fine, except there was no office there, nor any signs pointing to one. On the hotel wall, there was a fire exit, a drop box for returning car keys, and four lockers for keys. After spending 30 minutes talking to customer support (or rather being placed on hold because no one could understand why my rental time had started but I still didn’t have the keys), I ended up driving around the hotel in my own car about five times. Finally, I decided to go to the hotel reception, where there was no mention of U-Haul. The manager there handed me the keys directly but specifically asked me not to drop them in the box upon return and to bring them back to him personally. Overall, the situation was unpleasant—I wasted 30-40 minutes of my time. The experience wasn’t great, though the car was in good working condition and clean inside. Oh, and after returning the car, I didn’t receive a receipt. I had to contact customer support again to get a copy sent to me.

Michael CAlthough it was a bit confusing at first were to go since this location is inside a motel (have to go to the motel main office and vehicles are parked in the back). Both the pick up and drop off went smoothly.

Amanda LThe U-Haul app was NOT user friendly and clear. I had to go in and get help from the front desk which was fine. Then I wasn't sure about what I had to do to return it and needed to return to the office because I didn't know I needed to scan a picture. I wish there was a clear explanation of everything that needed to be done during the whole process. Now I know for next time. The APP needs improvements
DINA SThe gentlemen at Red Roof were pleasant and helpful. I have no complaints with them. My complaint is with U-Haul for not making it very clear that when you arrange a rental at a certain pickup location a month in advance and they say they will call the day before to confirm the location, that the possibility exists that you won’t actually be able to pick up a truck from that location. I ended up being told approx 24 hours before my pickup that I was going to have to drive 35 minutes each way to a location 10 miles away to get my truck rather than the 5 minutes from my home I thought I had arranged for. I had to rearrange my whole schedule on a moment’s notice and it added a huge amount of stress to the already stressful experience of moving. Additionally , the text informing me of the impending confirmation call and the call itself arrived simultaneously at 7:30 a.m. so I missed it and when I tried to call back 5 minutes later, was on hold for 26 minutes before having to hang up to get ready for work. I tried again later and was on hold for 20 minutes before again having to hang up to return to work. I had to interrupt a visit with a patient at work to make sure to catch their next call and receive the news of the change in pickup location. The whole experience was so maddening and inconvenient that I will not be looking to U-Haul for my moving needs in the future.
Christina PThe no contact application interface was extremely difficult to be successful with. The photos taken had to be done multiple times and still did not work entirely. A very frustrating 20 minutes to check out- an even more frustrating 25 minutes to drop off.
Gretchen BNothing to improve, it was a great experience. Booked the truck online. U-Haul called the day before to confirm. Smartly, they alerted me in advance about the call with a text…probably wouldn’t have answered otherwise. Truck was ready. Location was staffed, and the gentleman took me out to the truck and answered my questions. Drop off on the other end was easy. A great experience and would recommend.
Howard BDespite advanced reservation and check in, they were not ready for me at the time I arrived. Spent a half hour trying to get access to the keys. Then they called me several times during my busy move to get my credit card information. It was stressful because the location was not prepared.
