The guy was not at the gas station location when I arrived. The trailer had leaves and pine straw in it. The tires were muddy. The safety chains were two completely different chains. The rounded part of the front of the trailer where you push the tab down to tighten or loosen the trailer onto the ball was bent. It was a mess. Just two months earlier I rented the same trailer (not specifically this one) in Oklahoma and pulled it back 1000 miles and I had a great experience but this time the trailer was not the same quality. In general I like Uhaul but not this location.John B.
There was no attempt to log the trailer in or do anything to verify that it was no longer my responsibility. 2 weeks later when you tracked me down, I had to help UHaul locate the trailer there so that you wouldn't charge me late fees. Shouldn't a drop-off location have a computer or something to check me in?Ted A.

The worst experience that I've ever had. I originally reserved a 17' truck. They called me a day before my move to inform me that they did not have that truck available, instead they upgraded me to a 20' truck at a different location. No big deal, however I arrived at the new location to be informed that the truck need to be returned back to that specific location. I moved 1.5 hours away therefore that was not an option for me, which is what I confirmed through the original reservation. They found another truck, supposed to be 17', at a farther location. I picked up that truck which ended up being 15', not the 17' as promised. It was the only available "one-way" truck at that time. After finally getting home, packed the truck as much as possible, and began the trip, I got a phone call to confirm the new drop-off location. The new drop off location was listed as the same as the pick-up location. The problem was never resolved and I was charged $45 more than what was advertised on my original reservation, in addition to mileage and gas. What a nightmare of a day.marlon K.

We had a reservation to pick up a 26 ft truck at another location and when we arrived they didn't have the truck even though we confirmed the day before. We were sent to this pick up location and they weren't prepared for us. The rep had no idea what she was doing and hardly spoke English to communicate. We had an order of 3 dozen furniture pads and the pick up location had none.. We had to go back to the first location to get the ordered furniture pads, Pick up location was Further away causing more mileage expense and wasted time. No drop box for key return. We had to bring the vehicle in on the drop off day then make a trip back in the morning with the key. This rental experience was a nightmare. This truck got 4 miles to the gallon. My family has been loyal using U haul for many moves and U haul is not loyal to returning customers. They don't honor advance reservations and confirmations and don't care about the customers. We lost precious time going back and forth to the locations causing us to incur extra expenses on the movers we hired who waited on us.Kaitlyn H.

Everything was fine with the workers but when I arrived the truck and trailer was not there. I had too go to another site 10 miles away and pick up the truck. And then I had to load the trailer by myself. Very poor and I hope you guys take some money off the rental agreement for me. Had to do more work picking it up than I thought.scott F.

Start over!! This location was HORRIBLE - it is a country convenience/gas store. There was 1 employee on duty and he did not know how to check me out with the trailer. He had to call UHaul Customer Service to figure it out. It took almost 1 hour to complete the pick up. Then he told me to go out and hook up the trailer by myself.Paul H M.

The truck had 199,000 miles on it. The outside looked pretty bad. Lots of scrathes and dents. Inside looked like it hadnt been cleaned for months. If I hadnt been in a pinch I would have rented elsewhere. Budget should not have trucks like this on the road. Not the dealer fault I don't think but more due to Budget overall.Monika P.
The rental agent was great. He stayed open a few minutes after there Sunday afternoon closing time because I was running late for my rental pickup. He had the paperwork and requested moving pads and dolly ready inside the truck. It was a quick process. I would heartily recommend renting from the Rt. 120 Auto Sales location in Lakemoor. Rental confirmation confirmed rental from Fox Lake Uhaul. Then got call from another location in Lake Villa. Then got call from Lakemoor location. During this, I actually had Uhaul representative tell me never to rent from Uhaul on line. Owner in Lakemoor succeeded in getting me extra day and extra mileage because of the errors, so I am happy with the service.GREG R.

Actually U-Haul can improve their service. The service at the location were I picked up the truck was wonderful, but U-Haul had me running all over town for my truck, I was ordered for pick up in Ingleside and U-Haul for some stupid reason sent it to Mchenry. Which is way further away. It cost me money for mileage before i even got to use the truck. I had to paid for all that mileage from were I had to pick up the truck to were I live. The original location were I had ordered it from was less than a mile and where they sent me to get the truck was way over 5 miles. and at $1.49 per mile and gas prices I WAS NOT HAPPY AT ALL it cost me over $25 just for those extra miles and thats not counting the gas. This is one very unhappy customer. Would I recommend u-haul to my friends? NO NO NO NOStephanie J.

The location was a used car lot so there wasn't anything wrong with it. The truck was clean but not well maintained. I didn't think it was going to make the trip. I expected it to break down. It didn't. I'm thankful. Everything else about the experience was very good.TERRENCE O.

I came back with the unit gassed up and ready before they closed. He wanted to wait to check it in and them told me by phone that I was 3 gallons of gas short and that would be an extra $37.00. I tank was not full when I received it and filled it up to 3/8th of a tank the way I got it. Yet I was told that I was 3 gallons short and would have to pay extra. That is rediculous. i will be calling to complain. The truck had more miles on it when we took it then our reciept showed and then we were charged for more miles then we used! We also made sure to put the gas right back to 1/2 tank and we were also charged for that! I will be calling u haul to complain. I be;ieve the man at this location is scamming me and you!!!Joe R.

The renter was uninformed about what size ball hitch to use and seemed unsure as how to hook up the trailer. Than there were problems with the break lights and turn signal on the right side and was unsure how to repair to make the trailer legally drivable and just decided that we should go to the regional distribution center in Crystal Lake, IL to get it repaired. Once there we were informed that he never should have let the trailer off the lot because of the condition and safety hazards.AMY P.

the location was not open when i reserved my truck. i waited for an hour after my reservation before i finally was able to get the truck. when the truck was dropped off the owner was asked the amount of gas that was in the truck when we got it and he told us a lower amount, which we were charged for. i called and the amount of overage was taken off, but i am very unsatisfied with renting from uhaul. i will not be using uhaul again.AMELIA S.

One slight problem: when I picked up the truck, I was told the truck was half full, and I only needed to bring it back half full. Well, when I got on the road, I saw the truck was actually under half full. When I returned it slightly under half full, I had to go refuel to bring it up to exactly half. That cost me an extra $20. Next time I'll know to check the fuel level myself before I leave the lot with the truck. If there is a next time.ROBERT Y.
I don't know why you bother with all the on-line contract information, because it all had to be done again at the pick-up spot; plus, the procedure must have been confusing because the agent had to re-enter all the information each time a mistake was made. The pick up time that I wanted was not the same as what the agent had. Fortunately, I was still able to get a truck in the early morning rather than later. I'm not as happy with with the whole reservation procedure after the fact as I was before the fact.WILLIAM M.
