I was originally suppose to pick up my uhaul from 11654 Homestead Road. When I got there, the woman working in the 'partnering' office told me the 'UHAUL' guy was out for the day and that there was nothing she could do. I explained that I had a reservation. She repeated that she does NOT deal with uhaul. I left walking (since I took a Lyft there) and walked to the corner but called uhaul customer service to file a complaint. I was sent to 'traffic' I think and told to return since the keys should have been in the truck and was told all would be ok. When I returned I went into the office to let the woman know that I spoke with uhaul and that I was told the keys were probably in the truck. The woman immediately stated, very rudely again, that she does not deal with uhaul! I went to the truck. Sure enough the keys were there. There was another box truck blocking me in. A man came out and I asked if he could move the box truck. He spoke very little English but appeared to understand what I asked and he refused. I called the phone # traffic told me to call in case I had further problems. I spoke with Keith Simon and explained the issue. Keith Simon is the reason I am on this platform submitting a review and not on twitter, other social media platforms and the local consumer reporters as well as the attorney general's office! When Mr. Simon and I were on the phone I explained to him that my daughter needed an emergency move...that very moment! She had been the victim of domestic violence. We had a very limited time to get her and her 3 children as well as their belongings out of her apartment and far away. Because of the mess up at the Homestead Uhaul, we almost didn't make it safely. Mr. Simon was a Godsend and I appreciate his tremendous understanding and caring in the midst of a very difficult situation. As for the Homestead location, I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy!Charlotta J.

I will never rent with u haul again. When I got off of work, I went to pick my guaranteed U-Haul up from this location and the guy said the Man who gives out U-Haul keys are gone for the night. They still charged my card and gave me run around a the next morning. Moving forward, I went the next day to the 34th location, and they wouldn't let me rent from them because they said I still had the truck from the previous night.(the same truck I could not get because the U-Haul guy was gone) After talking to Customer Service for an hour and getting everything straight about me not even being able to rent the night before, I was finally able to rent the truck. FINALLY! Lastly, when i went to return the truck and sent pic of where the gas meter was, they claimed that was not enough gas and the truck was 3/4 full! That was a total Lie! Good thing i took pics of the gas hand before I left because I had to go back up there the next day and show the Manager Abigail the picture to dispute the $36 charge. Abigail was the only person who made me happy out of the entire U Haul experience. All I can say is, NEVER AGAIN U-HAUL!Goree A.

The area was very dangerous. A customer that was either drunk, high on drugs, or mentally unstable was yelling profanities at the cashier. I believe my life was at risk.Arnoldo T.
Where to begin? This location triples as a convenience store and washateria. There is no clear sign indicating where to go to transact. The employees used a laptop and it took at least 30 min to complete. The truck had Cheeto puffs and paperwork left in it (hadn't been cleaned). They didn't show us to the truck he just pointed and said it's â€œone of thoseâ€. Other customers getting quarters for the washing machines or buying single cigarettes made them stop attending to my rental. They didn't show me anything about the toll dolly and I had a lot of questions. And I didn't get the furniture pads, or other two dollies I paid for. Terrible terrible terrible uhaul experience.Josh K.

Manager did not show up until an hour after scheduled opening. NEVER send anyone to this location. Very dangerous! The cab driver had to be paid extra to enter the 5th ward area of Houston. He feared for his life, as did I. This ward is the 6th most dangerous place in the USA. Stop endangering people's lives! Unacceptable.Mindy M.

I turned my equipment in early. They waited 2 days to check in my equipment and then charged me for the late days. UHaul has promised on 3 occasions that I will receive a refund, but 2 weeks later, I still do not have my money back. I've been patient. Now I'm mad.Arturo D.

This location is not only a Uhaul location, but also a busy convenience store and washateria. There is only one person in charge of everything, including working a busy cash register! He pulled out his laptop at his register and helped us while also selling lotto tickets and beer, and providing change for washing machines. He was a nice guy, very polite and was working fast but he can only do so much. He had to leave his register unattended to take us to our truck, obviously he was in a rush. It seems like not a good arrangement. It took us about 30 minutes to get in our truck, probably twice what it would have taken if we had his full attention. 30 minutes may not sound like a lot, but when you are moving and on a deadline it is an eternity!Karin S.

First of all the gps took us to a convenient store with no signage from the main parking lot. I then had to drive around the neighborhood after I saw a uhaul truck parked in the back. Then I had to park in the front parking lot, go inside and the attendant showed me on a surveillance screen where to park. I could not understand where he wanted me to go so I finally just pulled the truck in as far as I could into the crowded small lot behind the store. While parking the truck, I saw the one sign in the window. His internet connection was very slow and I had to wait on his computer to pull up my account. He waited on several customers before he was able to pull up my account and let me go on my way. I also had to take a picture of my mileage and gas to show him while he verified my account information.Wes M.
The dolly I reserved was given away. The employee refused to help me find another dolly after he gave it away to another person. I did NOT appreciate having to reverse the truck our of a tiny spot which I could have damaged the truck. ALSO, I am being over charged! I was to pay $80, I paid $120. Not a happy customer!Tommie T.
The authorized dealer is a convenient store clerk that does not have any customer service skills. I had to wait for him to clear the line of beer sales before he could get to helping me check out the trailer (all though I was first in line). Needless to say, more store customers grew the line so I was never assisted. I had to prepare the trailer myself meaning I had to manually move the trailer in position to hitch since there were other larger trailers in the way. The trailer does not seem like it has been used in years and I had to do a safety inspection myself. There was no cable for trailer lights. Check in was the same poor, unassisted process.David T.

Please do not change my location i selected after I pay and send be 10 miles out of the way to pick up when there are closer locations. This is the second time this has happen. Plus my equipment was not ready and all of us was not thereJames S.
My pickup location, scheduled a week earlier, had never heard of me. Instead, they sent me to a Laundromat/Convenience store 30min away on the other side of Houston. There I conversed with a lone attendant through bulletproof-glass while my family waited in the car behind the building. I was sent back out to the back of the building to "Go see if we even have that trailer", then reported back that it had not, indeed, been stolen. I was then charged, and given leave to "Go hook one up" myself.Chase K.

The parking area where the trailers are stored is extremely tight and unorganized. Extremely difficult to get my truck in where I could hook up. It's narrow and the equipment is stored perpendicular to vehicle direction. Nobody available to assist with hooking up. Spent 30 minutes trying to do it myself before calling regional management to get the guy inside to close store and come out and help. And they didn't have the furniture pads I ordered. I'll never use a neighborhood UHaul location again. Stick to large UHaul centers like the one in Boulder at my destination.Kurt K.

The store manager did not even leave the cash register to assist in the rental process. He told me to our back to see if the unit was there before he did the paperwork (unit was reserved) and once I found it, he ran my credit card and told me to go ahead and go get it myself. He did not do any preservice check. The same thing happened when we returned the unit. On top of all this, I would not recommend this neighborhood or location to anyone, especially at night. The store seems seedy... There are slot machines that were constantly busy and people just hanging around smoking and drinking. Did I mention the laundromat that is part of the store? To enter it you had to go through the store too. I did not make this reservation, it was assigned by someone else. In either won't use this location again or won't use this service.David M.
This drop off location was a convenient store/laundromat that took U-Haul items, but it was not in a nice neighborhood at all. This was also very far away from the zip code I entered for drop off. Very disappointed in this. On another note the roadside assistance was wonderful and was very helpful!!HAYLEY N.

I told the guy the truck wasn't driving correctly he refused to exchange the truck even though there was another one. I spent hours dealing with the uhaul cutting off during driving. A simple mattress move turned into a headache. The uhaul number he told me to call forever to answer. I called and asked if I could take it do a different U-Haul place and was told I had to drive it to the contract drop off locationKaren S.
