When picking up the auto hauler there was no one to help hook up. I had to come from a hour and a half away to pick it up even though reserved it a month prior. And there was no 7 to 4 way trailer plug adaptor to hook up to my vehicle so I had to drive back to Vernon without trailer lights. And then when returning the truck and trailer the Valemount location of drop off told me they wouldn't take it took longer to return the truck and trailer than it did to drive from McBride to Valemount.Kyle R.

They are a gas station and had one employee. People were waiting and there was nooone to do anything else. My whole experience was terrible. I was suppose to pick up at a location 80 km away and they didnt have my rental. I got a discount but the gas I spent was not ok. This has happened more than once.Michael M.

I had reserved my Uhaul with furniture dolly and pushable dolly as well as 2 dozen moving blankets, for 8am Monday morning April 25th morning at Trout Creek. I rented a 15' Uhaul because the site recommended that for a 1 bedroom apartment. We barely fit all our furniture for our one bedroom apartment in there, so we had to do 2 trips from summerland to Kelowna racking up WAY more Km's than anticipated, which is resulting in an INSANE amount of cost for extra mileage. To top it off, I couldn't even get my rental until 9:30am, an hour and half past when I was supposed to pick it up. they weren't available before hand for some reason even though I had pre-booked and reserved with my card online for mobile pick up to make it easier. They start to tell me "it's cause our system has been down for days". then why did I not receive a phone call/email/text msg? Instead I had to call around and figure it out with your 1800 number. To top it off, the truck had NOTHING I had requested, no moving blankets, no dollies. Oh and the truck had less than a quarter tank in there, so before I could do ANYTHING I had to go fill the truck up at the Gas station. This move cost me a fortune for the absolute WORST experience and WORST service I have EVER had from Uhaul. I have used your company many many many times with no issue. For the stress it caused me and the amount it cost me, I should have just booked a moving company. I would very much like ANY form of compensation or refund, because you made an incredibly stressful day even worse than I could have imagined. DO BETTER.Michael H.
Windows were filthy, RHS mirror cracked. We booked the unit for pick up in West Kelowna. Had to drive quite a distance to pick up in a different city. Also booked a a trailer but had to drive almost 2 hours in the completely opposite direction wasting a lot of time and gas. The truck, although very thirsty, did its job. Again, would only recommend because it's the only one. It was clean. Not very organized. No signage pointing to the key drop box, which is around the front by the gas station door not anywhere near the rental yard.madeline G.
The whole experience picking up the truck was a total inconvenience. I wanted pick up in Kelowna and had prebooked 2 months in advance. This caused a 2 hour delay with my move. I ordered a dolly and a dozen blankets which they didn't have. Very disappointed in the whole experience.Catherine M.

Give your employees better training. I was told that the rate would be $20 a day and I was charged double that. I was also told that if I returned early I would be refunded the unused days and that did not happen either.Vernon Lee M.

Hello : ) I had a wonderful experience at the Summerland Uhaul location. Very friendly and sharp service, everything was organized and ready for me upon arrival. The staff was incredibly helpful and answered all the questions I had as this was my first time renting with UHAUL. Truck was clean, fueled and performed well. overall great service! The trailer was still hooked up to the moving truck. Was not clean and all the lights didn't work. The young person working had Zero idea what to do. Had to unhook and move the moving truck. Then hook ourselves up.ted G.

The signage for the place is a bit small and locating the key box wasn't easy since it is a very different location than the trucks. Maybe you could have more details about where to find it in your instructions?!KATHY N.

I originally booked a truck for kelowna but was told a day before our move that we had to pick it up in summerland at a much later time and being overcharged from the original quote for the rental rate that was agreed upon. Overall the whole experience was bad and will not be using their services again.trevor G.

I don't like having the fuel tank at "E" (Empty) when I rent a vehicle, I would prefer starting with a full tank, it made returning it difficult as I was again close to empty on my return...Lindsey P.
The lock box for key pickup in the penticton location was stuck closed and no one was in the are that could help. I had to wait on hold for 45 mins then i had to drive to summerland to pick up a different truck. It was a lot of time wasted. They should replace that lock box.Shoshana W.

After driving over 4 hours to pick up the â€˜trailer' I was thoroughly disappointed that it wasn't the â€˜motorcycle trailer â€˜ that had been reserved. With it being a Sunday and BC day was to follow I had no alternative. In addition, and after having my hitch approved prior to leaving at AAA Auto Electric, I was even more put off by the experience with UHaul when I had to go another hours drive to get the appropriate adapter to legally and safely connect electrically. With the trailer not being the correct one more ratcheting tie downs were needed adding to the overall cost.Laureen K.

Took me 20 minutes or more to check trailer out as the cashier also had to deal with everyone that kept coming in for gas,smokes,lotto and other things. I am 60 with back issues so I asked for help to hook up,guy Sid be out in a bit,he wasn't. I finally got it loaded and had to go back inside twice to get him to check my hook up. He finally did. Brought trailer back about 4 hours later and asked for help to unhook and was told there isn't anyone working other than the cashier and I would have to do it myself....I struggled and got it done with no help from that useless company. Train employees at this location customer service and to clean the trucks. We have rented twice from this location and both times trucks were filthy. 1st time there was not enough gas to even start the truck. Employees make customers head to back lot and take pictures of gas gauge and milage then have to run back into store to show the picture then back out to the lot to pick up the truck. Seems like making the customer do their work for them. And i know they don't clean the trucks at all. When we showed her a picture of the filthy state she just said yah ok. Make sure the reservation you make agrees withe printed rental agreement . It was 24 hrs out and I was charged an extra $75 for an extra day. Was credited back when I called them ,but had I not caught it I would have been out that cash.David G.

The only reason I would recommend it is because it is the only location in Summerland, BC. I reserved a 15' truck for my move and the truck in the size I requested was not available. They did not have blankets or dollies available, so I had to use whatever was in the truck. They were able to provide me a truck, but it was significantly larger than what I needed. They gave me a 26' truck which was the only available truck. Fortunately they were able to accommodate by giving me the price I was originally quoted. The 26' truck was difficult to maneuver , which is why I requested a 15' truck. I would highly recommend for the location to follow up with trucks that are not returned on time as it impacted the move significantly.Deanne N.

The fuel return line from the engine to gas tank was disconnected. I discovered this after driving from the depot to my house, where the moving helpers noticed that gasoline was spilling dramatically from the hole in the gas tank all over the road and my driveway when I backed in. This depot has the least helpful people ever. I have twice ordered trucks to pick up from this location and they have NEVER had any of the supplies we ordered. Both times, we have to drive an hour and a half round trip to the nearest real U-Haul location to get the ropes and blankets and stuff. The staff at the depot didn't care one bit. It is a shady business too. It's a gas station as well as a U-Haul depot, so I suspect they drain the tanks themselves because the tanks are always almost empty, forcing customers to fill up at the gas station. Please investigate them and consider not using them. They make U-Haul look really bad.Jeremy D.
We ordered 2 dollies and only got 1. The back of the truck was covered in gravel...not just a few rocks but enough to make me wonder if the guy who rented before us was hauling gravel. It was rather pathetic AND my wife had to search for the one dollie she did find looking from truck to truck.DAN B.
I was told to go find my own dolly by looking through the other trucks, and when I turned around the service attendant was already walking back to the store. I looked through all of the remaining trucks but couldn't find the dolly I had needed. The back of the truck had bits of garbage left from the last user. He also entered the wrong city for my drop off (even though I made my own reservation online). I was also asked to sign a copy of a contract before it was emailed to me to read.Katelyn S.
The only problem with picking up the truck in Summerland was that I had reserved a truck in Kelowna, and was then phoned the day before and told no trucks were available, and would have to go to Summerland or Penticton. Not very good, U-Haul. A â€œreservationâ€ should count for something.ROBIN M.
I apologize for this being long-winded. We were supposed to pick up our truck in Kelowna (booked about a week in advanced). The day before we were supposed to pick it up, they called and said our truck was only available for pickup in Summerland (45 minutes away). We were supposed to get a confirmation email with the new location details but never did, so I had to call back and get it over the phone. I had already done the online check-in days in advanced, however I was asked almost every question again, in person. The guy helping us, didn't even show us where the truck was, or do a walk-through with us. He gave me the keys and said "I think it's out back somewhere, go find it, make sure it starts and take a pic of the fuel and milage". After all that, he tried emailing me the invoice but again, it wasn't working. I gave him two other emails and it still didn't work. Then he printed it up for me instead, but the charges were cut off of the page. I just ended up taking a picture of the screen. THEN he informed me that the two dollies and blankets I had ordered, were not at that location and I had to go to Westbank to pick them up. THEN as I was driving down the highway, I noticed it smelled like weed. That's when I noticed half a joint, sitting where the odometer is. (Good thing I didn't get pulled over for something). Upon closer inspection, there were old snacks sitting up on the dash and greasy finger-prints on the stereo buttons. This is unacceptable during the best of times, but right now, during the Covid 19 pandemic, this is ridiculously negligent. There was obvious zero effort put into cleaning/disinfection between customers. On the upside, the fellow who helped us when we dropped it off in Victoria was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. I never really make complaints unless its something really bad. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with the service we recieved.PATRICK L.

I've faced complications with uhaul overall - on the first contract with insurance being charged for a month when I had asked, and got agreement from this location, to have it not added to the renewal. On the second contract I have been overcharged by uhaul by ~350 and since I was using debit, had to float the final payment even though it had already been removed from my checking account (ie I was not credited the amount charged to my debit, before having to re-pay the final charge). Both were situations I just wanted to work through in collaboration. One employee was absolutely amazing and helpful, the other was confrontational, rude, and feel he has a lot to learn about co-solving problems with clients. Perhaps it's a cultural issue in dealing with women. Overall I've spent 4.5k on uhaul this summer. The location owner and the one employee I dealt with mostly were amazing. Feedback for regional uhaul - got a very rude text the morning of a renewal with RCMP collection threat for non return, when I had extended the contract the night before.silke O.
