I originally booked my vehicle for pick up at the White Oaks Ave location in Campbell 1 week prior to my pick up date. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle I was told that they did not have a vehicle for me and that I should have been contacted prior to my arrival to inform me of the change. I received no contact prior to my arrival at the pick up location I booked. I will not be renting from U-Haul again.

Watch out making reservations. We reserved a 5'X9' covered trailer for 3 days. Their reservations employee input in 6 hours. We called back to correct their error and they never fixed it. The day we went to get the trailer the paperwork said 6 hours. We we're sent to another uhaul location for an open trailer not a covered trailor. DON'T TRUST UHAUL RESERVATIONS!

I did the Express Online Check-In and then was asked the same questions again through the POS interface. I mentioned I already did the online check-in and the manager said "we just need to confirm your answers." What? There is nothing "express" about having to do something twice. I was in an awkward situation because I lost my wallet (drivers license, all credit cards) and then my car broke down. I spent all day at DMV to get a proof of driver's license so I could rent the truck and trailer to move my broken down car. They said they wouldn't accept my wife's credit card without her being there because of the chance of identity fraud. I have used Uhaul many times and should have a good history in your system. Why in this special circumstance am I still treated like a new and unknown customer?

we always use this UHAUL location ,however when we got there to pick up our RESERVED vehicle it was not ready and in fact it was not even at the facility.and we had to get a smaller vehicle, and apparently we were lucky to get a vehicle at all.the clerk was nice but. If your reserving a piece of equipment in another part of the state of California and you ask the gentleman to call that works at the U-Haul to make sure that the equipment is there make sure he doesn't tell the person he has other people in line and you have to call yourself I would think that it would be a complete service to call for the customer and make sure that the equipment is at the place it's supposed to be when you go to pick it up not say you're in a rush and you can't do it not that great of customer care I stood in line like everybody else and no one rest for me

The day before our rental we were told we had no truck. We rented from Monterey but had to drive to San Jose to get the truck, a trip of 2.5 hours each way for us. This was extremely stressful and caused a great deal of trouble for us. We had a reservation for over a month prior. This last minute switch was, to us, unbelievable for a business model.

Have the truck I ordered in stock or notify me prior to my arrival if you’re not going to have it in stock. Make sure that it has a full tank of gas. I received the truck on Empty (we barely made it to the gas station). If you receive the truck with a full tank of gas, whatever you burn off you fill up and return it. When you receive a truck on Empty, you have to guess how much gas you will burn. If you fill too much, it’s now me giving you free gas - not cool at all. The service attendant told another attendant to put the ordered Dolly’s in the truck and he acknowledged that he would - he didn’t, we thankfully noticed at the gas station and had to come back. When we got back, we saw the same service attendant renting someone else a 20ft truck (the size truck that I ordered). When we asked him why we didn’t get that truck, he told us that it just came in (it was 10mins later than when we picked up our truck). I ordered a 20ft truck and the location claimed that they didn’t have it so the attendant said “we’re upgrading you for free.” How is going from a 20ft truck to a 26ft truck a free upgrade? It’s the exact same cost to rent and per mile charge is the same, only it gets worse gas mileage... seems to me like I paid out of pocket for Uhaul’s mistake of not having he truck that I ordered. Pretty poor experience overall.

I had not problem with the location or the vehicle, but the U-HAUL iOS app did not allow me to do pick up nor also the return. Pick up just showed state Pick Up with no buttons and return asked me to enter milage and I entered it in all possible ways and it didn't accept it.

Equipment was in very poor shape. Majorly Rusted out, actual large holes that you must put your car on, multiple metal patch panels. Fenders have previous Missing retainers for chain hooks, not safe. One ramp does not stow away correctly, requiring 2 people to help disengage locking mechanism to stow ramp. Not the quality that I’ve been accustomed from uhaul. Similar to the “other” rental shops that I try to avoid.

They didn't explain that the full 3-day moving package cost $539.00 no matter if I got to LA in one day or 3 days. I rushed to get to LA in one day and still had to pay the full cost. This should have been explained to me.

I booked a 17ft truck online for the Alameda location a week in advance, and never changed the booking. U-Haul called me the morning of the booking saying it had been moved to Curtner because the Alameda location doesn't have 17ft trucks (which they do, I've picked up several times from there before), and that my booking was for a 15ft truck. This is something that could have been worked out well in advance. I'll be looking at different truck rental services in the future, this is not the first time something like this has happened.

I got really good customer service when I rented the truck .the guy was great! Knew his stuff and smiled and didn’t waste my time. Then when I returned the truck I got another great guy! He made me laugh after a rough day of moving and checked me out in good time. Good guy. Served in the Marines and chatted w my husband over being Vets. I’d suggest Curtner location over & over because of the service I received. Thank you U Haul guys!

Drop off location, as well as pick up location, were great. U-Haul website and their “contact personnel” and policies can use help. They wanted me to pick up my trailer rental over 1.5 hours PAST my original location. They knocked $40 off but not worth it. Funny how this survey asks basic questions so they get the “5 star” rating... employees getting their hands dirty A+. Ones behind the computers, F!

The gas re-fill gauge in the contract is totally wrong. Just before I return the gas gauge show 1/4 per the info I filled up 9.5 gallons of gas. Then the gauge showed 5/8 of the tank, much more than 3/8. I asked a site manager consider to waive 11 miles overs my estimated miles for this over filled gas I fully understand u-haul is not require to do this, but as good customer they guy should.

I was told by at least 3 people that the $28 insurance fee was a one time fee and would not be charged each day. As it turned out it was charged each of the 7 days I had the truck. 3 separate people. That's rediculois.

i picked up the truck and they told me to return it with a quarter tank. i drove away and noticed it was on empty. i turned around and brought it back and the manager put gas in it from a can and the female employee wrote a note on the receipt fr a $49. - credit . i dropped off the truck w a 1/4 tank of gas and was billed w out the $49 gas credit. the employees at this u

I need someone to call me back . you hooked up the trailer on my truck and I used it most of the day when I was taking off from a light the trailer came off my hitch started banging around on the chains about 5or 6 times I was coasting slower so the trailer would not hit me it eventually came off veried to the right and hit a light pole . I told this to the people at the p;lace and they said there is no way possible that it could come off it has 3 chains. but those chains only have s hooks on then and once they bang back and forth a little they come off. I had my wife in the car I took pictures the peoples house that it crashed in front of I can have them as witnesses that the trailer was going down the street by itself. where it hit was about a foot in on the front side almost impossible to make that damage and be hook on a truck. the harness I gave back to them they could see it was torn I'm multiple places because of this . please have someone not from that uhaul facility call me back 408 505 0130. the people house it crashed in front of they had guest there some where outside and would of been hit by this they took pictures of it on the pole . witch I am trying to get now . I took a picture of the pole with the trailer back on the street still had all the damage parts that came off the trailer around the pole. the pooe is a foot to 2 feet on the side walk.

Would recommend customer service training to all your employees! Curtner branch employees not very friendly at all! They seem not to be content with their employment. Is there a manager on site? Also please do not obligated your customers to buy your insurance, declined it when asked at Curtner and 2121 Laurelwood and some how Got charged for it! However fixed it but it took an act of congress and a waste of my time for employees carelessness!

The van I was given needs an alignment: it pulled right if the steering wheel was centered. It was, however, clean and comfortable to drive. This is my only criticism of my experience.

Two issues. The first has nothing to do with this particular location. The UHaul reservation system appears to be useless. I placed a reservation only to get a phone call the day before and tell me what I reserved was not available. In fact, the place was not even open. Had to go way out of my way at the last minute to find a location. The one proposed by the center that called me was far from my house. When I suggested much closer ones, then a much closer location was found (why not always find the closest one!). Now, at the new location, there was debris in the trailer. Had to clean it out before taking it or it would have scratched up our furniture. But the person who helped check me in was good and it was very easy to return after hours which are pluses.

The only thing was the fuel not being full when I left the store. I was going to San Rafael and not sure about the gas. I had no idea that the van held 30 gallons of gas in the tank. The gage was at 1/4 full. I stated the pump not knowing the tank would take 20 gallons. 20 gallons and $70 later I stopped the pump.. I only used a 1/4 tank for 140 miles. I might not use you again because of this lack of understanding on my part. I do not rent a lot of trucks and a better explanation of the truck tank would have been nice. Thank you,

It all worked out very well for me. Through my account reserved a van for local move with combined miles of 9 miles. If something could be improved maybe if rental unit was driven less than a number of miles, there is no need to add fuel. My rental van was at a quarter tank. I drove 9 miles. So the needles was at or above the 9 miles to avoid the $30 dollar fee, I put in $5 dollars to raise the needle. Felt foolish, but hope I saved at least $25!

Made a second picked up the equipment explained were there was a location to drop off in my city.gave them the phone number if the place. They said that would be ok. However when I dropped it off at the location18 hrs later I recieved a call what it had not been returned yet. Come to find out that location i dropped it off at was different then where the contract said. And this was after I had specifically asked if the location was I had requested was ok and told it was ok. The location in San Jose ca on current ave is a bit of a disappointment. I've rented car hauler in the past with your company and had no problems. This time was not a good experience..

I was provided with a vehicle that was almost out of gas....gauge indicated I had only 4 miles to empty. The person who helped me indicated it was due to gas theft as this location. Whatever the reason, customers should not have to worry about making it to a gas station so soon after renting. If gas theft is a problem at this location, UHAUL should consider locking gas caps or have fuel on site to provide customers with more than this absolute minimum.

I AM BEYOND HAPPY WITH UHAUL!!! I had originally reserved and booked through Budget and that was a total disaster! The day before I needed the truck they called and said they had no truck! Really? The $50 reservation guarantee is a SCAM. I reserved a truck at a location close to me 2 days before online. The morning I was supposed to pick it up I get a call 30 minutes before my scheduled from the location telling me my truck would not be available because the previous renter had not returned it. They told me I needed to go to another location to pick up the truck I wanted. Here is the description of the $50 reservation guarantee from the website: When you make a truck or trailer reservation, we guarantee to provide you with the equipment size, location, and pick up time as agreed. Should you not receive the equipment size, location, and pick up time you agreed to, U-Haul will compensate you $50. When I asked about it they said the equipment is guaranteed but not the location! It seems clear to me that "equipemt size, location, and pick up time would fall under the guarantee! They told me as long as the truck was avalible somewhere "in the greater bay area" they could send me out to get it even if its 50 miles away and I would not fall under the guarantee! I could not believe what I was hearing. They laughed at me when I asked if I would get a reimbursement for miles for driving to the further location. STAY AWAY from Uhaul. This is one of the most blantant shady things I have seen advirtised in a long time!

spend more time familiarizing your customers with the vehicle at time of rental. THE REAL BITCH ABOUT THIS RENTAL...MISLEADING RATE QUOTE! I called Penske about a truck rental and received an All Inclusive rental rate for the truck rental (one way from San Jose to Phoenix...I have used their trucks a few times prior and received great follow up servic3. I called Uhaul and found their quote to be higher. Then was asked about the Penske rate with the comment that Uhaul would match or beat the quote. I went ahead with Uhaul because the rental location was a bit more convenient for me to my accommodations. When I arrived for the rental, I was told Uhaul doesn't actually match the bottom line all inclusive rate...only the rental rate. So, I think I paid about $30.00 more than the TOTAL Penske rate...what are ya gonna do once you've gone through all the trouble to make the arrangements and retained a friend to drive you to the rental yard??! In the name of time and less hassle...you are gonna resentfully suck it up and pay up; like I did.And you're gonna leave there saying, "That friggin Sucks...misleading friggin Uhaul." Additionally, I was told that because I was paying cash for the rental, I needed to pay a $100.00 cash deposit. Kinda sucks too, but I had the extra $100.00 that was to be refunded on the drop off. GUESS What! The dude that rented the vehicle to me in SJ didn't ring up the deposit as a deposit and included it the rental fee. Not knowing that at the time, I was out the door and on my way t load the truck. Then, at the drop off location they "couldn't" refund me the $100.00 deposit because it wasn't written up that way on the receipt. So to get my cash deposit refund, I would have to go through the corporate 800 #. I'd already spent enough of my valuable time getting the run-a-round, so I couldn't be bothered further in dealing with Uhaul...DONE and congratulations to you Uhaul for the UnCool Swindle. Maybe Uhaul is the biggest, but certainly not the best on customer service.

It was raining the night we rented/returned out truck. We needed to do a late return since we came in after hours. We did the online return for the first time. The checkout process was very time consuming (approx 40 minutes) probably due somewhat to having never done it before but we also had to go in and out of the rain for the entire time taking pictures. There is not weather protection at your location, so we were completely soaked by the time we got in our car to drive home. Other than that, the experience was a good one!

Make sure that the employees at the drop off point listen to the driver and fix the items mentioned. In my case the head lamps should have been fixed before that truck goes back out. The gas should be always checked and delivered to the customer at the 1/2 mark or above. I plan to check other rental companies for better customer practices. The store was fine, but I reserved a 24 foot truck 2 weeks in advance. When I arrived at the store I was told they did not have the truck and that I would have to drive to Fremont to get one. I ended up taking a 17 foot truck because I was unwilling to drive to Fremont. Which required more trips increasing the mileage I was charged. The whole experience was unsatisfactory and I will no longer use U-Haul for my future moves. The purpose of reservations is to reserve the item that is needed.

We were not told about the $0.99 X 69.0 charge for milage. That ended up costing us almost $68 extra dollars!!! Sign says &0.99 per mile. Seems like bate and switch. To top it off they did not “check” us out, just sent us on our way with a promise to email us the receipt. Of course we received it after they closed. So now I have to call tomorrow. So even if they’re in a rush when they’re checking you in, ask a lot of questions and make them go over the contract.

I strongly suggest improved security of your yard to prevent gas siphoning from vandals. The truck I rented today ran fine, but had visible body damage, the seats were stained badly too. I'm surprised it wasn't known before I rented the truck that the filler tube was tampered with. I would expect full safety checks be done at least weekly especially if the security system showed vandals were around. Otherwise the truck ran fine and the customer service was excellent.

# 1. I had trouble locating the brake release at night in the dark. It is not easily seen and could be better identified with a sticker. The hood release is easily identified. Once again my complaint is about fuel no being full on pick up. You have severe penalties for not returning at the same level. I paid $32.00 trying to estimate the same level at refill, after travelling 56 miles. I believe this is a business gouging decision, and not in the best interests of customer relations. Billy thing I noticed was I think the axle may be bent on the trailer because to head to feet of trailer stuck out on the driver side and I could barely see the passenger side fender through my rearview mirrors and I know my truck is straight and the gentleman I drop the trailer off to recommended that maybe your trailers are that way but I completely doubt that just giving you a recommendation that somebody who doesn’t tow trailers may not be aware of that driver side fender sticking out 2 feet more than it should and not level with the back of the truck that is all thank you

The guy, I wish I knew his name, who took care of our reservation at the location was fantastic. We were supposed to pick up the truck earlier than office opening time. The account was created by my father in-law but I was supposed to be the driver. Unfortunately, the lady from online customer service did nothing. Despite office not being open at the time, that guy was in there and sorted things out in a few minutes. You probably have his name on the record, if not I can help out to identify him. Make sure the gas gauge reads full on pick up so customers do not have to guess. It cost me $32.10 for 56 miles. Your policy is if it is returned unfilled, then there is a charge. Well the vehicle was offered to me as 3/4 full, and then adjusted down a shade. It seems that by not providing a full tank, clients have to guess at the correct fill amount, and paying for more than they used, or not getting it correct and then being penalized through your expensive refill policy. Be sincere! Fill the tank to full. You obviously have the ability to do it, so clean up a grey area designed to benefit you and not the client.

This regarding our entire experience. Beginning last week on wednesday. To last Saturday..absolutely horrible. To this past wednesday. I like this location but I wished they had used a different notification number with my account. Because, the U-Haul at the Alameda location when I was going to rent a truck there, they should have deleted the one with $104.30 it has messed up my account now having extra charges which “I didn’t need to have “ has ruined what t needed to do for this day. I was not blessed to make wages like Google or Apple, therefore I am struggling! Need the $104.30 needs to be reverese out of my checking account. Next time please don’t use the same notification No. from one place to another. If there isn’t a truck available in one place, but they have it at another place, please discard the first one and start a new notification at the 2nd place. I got screwed with the $104.30 charges on my account and having to hassel and to contend with this issue now.

Be honest. After connecting the trailer, my 'agent' checked the lights for me and told me they worked. They actually didn't, and couldn't have since the problem is with my car. Also, he had told me that I could drop it late in the lot, I hit lots of traffic so was 2 hours late and got charged an extra $22.95. For two hours! All the car rentals companies charge by the hour (and usually don't at all for a few hours). I don't see the late terms anywhere on the contract or web. Certainly wasn't made clear.

The reservation using the UHaul app didn’t work. There was also a glitch with the first truck the rep selected — it wasn’t available as his system told him it was. I suggest looking into both of these to determine the root cause and solutions. (Continued...) BUT, the rep David Mandujano took ownership of the reservation from start to finish. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Also, when I forget my tarps in the first truck David found them and held them for me. Please tell David how pleased I was with his service. He saved the situation from being a disaster.

After waiting in line for almost half an hour I was given a truck that was completely empty on gas with the light and told to return it that way...I barely made it to the gas station and that drive was incredibly stressful. You guys put me in a dangerous situation and I really didn't appreciate it. On top of that after arriving at my drop off location with some gas to spare I was told that no credit would be added to my account. So I actually needed to return this truck to U-haul on COMPLETELY EMPTY of gas light on so the next guy can get the same experience that I got? Thats a really bad way to do business.

We used the online reservation tool. This was easy to use and saved us time, however there is one piece that needs to be communicated better. When asked how long we needed the truck, we weren't really sure, so just chose the "average/typical" option for our size of home. We were not clearly told that another family may reserve it after our allotted time, making it super important to get it back in time, until the day of. If we had known this, during the reservation submission online, we would have added an additional hour or two for buffer. This strict and surprise time limit added stress to an already stressful moving experience.

Ask before charging cc and learn how to refund credit card so that customer dosent have to take the penalty for card being used by bank when they mentioned it when they took the resevation that they would be paying with cash. Not good customer satisfaction. I understand they want you in and out without using any personable relations with the customers because they have little knowledge for anything different (personable) that may differ from one customer from the next customer. Because they treat you like a robot without any. Common sense that each customer is very different and although we would love to all be the first time fast service customer most are not and so i wish your 1800 number offered the 100 cash deposit at the curtner location because they told me i was wrong that they dont do that even though the lady on the phone said they do . so they are not communicating with each other giving very different answers.so who was wrong i have no clue but they really should not have 2 different answers for the same question

I had a great experience with fast service and a clean truck at a reasonable price. Then the SHOCK of the mileage fee for only 17 miles of usage!!! The other downer was the gas was marked at 1/4 tank, but it was really 1/8th. I went 5 miles and it was on "E". I had to put in $25.00 in gas to get it to 1/4 tank or get charged a large fee. I will look for a different truck rental service the next time that doesn't have large mileage fees.

UHaul Curtner is my go to location because of equipment yard allowing for increased availability selection for short notice request. I was contacted to turn in vehicle by 7am 8/19/17 when I ran over my initial time to drop off due to my move running over at 5:30 pm 8/18/17. I was charged two days for my move when I did not have the vehicle 2 days. I dropped the vehicle off at 3 am 8/19/17 before 7 am when Dave from U-haul had called and asked when I would be back to turn it in by 7am on 8/19/17. The location is great. The problem is dealing with the 800 number and scheduling staff. They rebooked me twice in one day to locations I didn't want. Scheduling said they didn't have my trailer at that location. I hung up and called the location directly and they did have one. Was now rebooked back to my original location.

I had a reservation and showed up and the reserved items were not there and ready for pick up. No phone call prior to pick up day. This was a hugh inconvenience. I reserved a truck and trailer. I needed a 20 or 26 ft truck but you didn't have it available so I had to go with a 15 ft truck. I also reserved a 6x12 ft cargo trailer which was not there for pickup after being reserved. Now I have to rent another truck and trailer. I can't say how disappointed and upset about this situation.

I was unaware of a milage cap and was charged for going 9 miles over. The truck leaked and some of my stuff got wet. You might be hearing from me for damaged property. After this I am not sure I will be using uhaul again.

Your staff needs to stress that the truck or carrier that I reserved 2 weeks in advance may have to be picked up at a different location. That's very inconvenient for someone like me doing all of this solo. I had to change my plans to move Saturday to Friday because Curtner staff started stressing I may NOT get what I ordered for a Saturday pick up. Also I don't know anything about car dollys and the staff didn't want to help me. That's bullshit.

Our experience with the Curtner location was extremely disappointing. We left our keys in the truck on Sunday August 6th. Called first thing Monday morning August 7th. We were told the keys were found. The employee was able to describe the keys by a 49er key ring/bottle opener. When I arrived to pick up the keys the key chain was not on the keys. I was at U-Haul for an hour. I was given Hector Huarachas name as the General Manager to speak to him regarding the incident. I have called everyday since Monday. Hector has been unavailable every day since Monday. TODAY, I'm told Hector in now on vacation until Monday. I don't appreciate being lied to. I don't appreciate employees taking possessions that do NOT belong to them. If I don't receive a response within 24 hours. I will be calling "7 On your side" to investigate the incident that occurred. I am very disappointed with U-Haul.

Great customer service from making my reservation, me calling to say I was running late, help with picking up the pickup truck and a smile and great final service when I returned the truck one minute before the store closed. I will do business with your company again! Great experience overall. One thing about the truck and I mentioned it to the gentleman upon receiving my receipt, the truck ran rough. It almost felt like the front tire was unbalanced.

I dropped in to rent this time, and while my information was in the system, my contract wasn't synced with either the mobile app or the website. This is nothing against the Curtner branch, and more to do with the existing computerized system. By not having my contract showing up on the mobile app nor the website I wasn't able to extend the time of my rental, add another driver after the Curtner location had closed, or check out the cargo van after hours. I feel there's room for improvement there.

I reserved a truck at a location in Santa Cruz, and when I went to pick it up on the reserved day (7/30), I was told that they did not have a truck for me, and that I had to drive to San Jose (which is 45-60 min away) to pick up my truck. I may not rent from Uhaul again because of this inconvenience and added stress that it caused me in a time of already heightened moving stress.

Everything was provided for beautifully, but the specific truck we rented has a significant problem with steering control. It would wander side to side in the lane almost the entire time while driving on the freeway, as if there were wind gusts, but there was no wind. Everything else about the service we received was excellent.

Nothing needs improvement. This is one of the best U-Haul sites I've ever rented from. All the attendants were fast, knowledgeable, well presented and efficient. Will definitely rent from them again. U-Haul should use these guys as a training center.

Please have better coordination between your reservation system and the equipment location. I reserved a truck from this location, based on what was available via On-Line reservation and closeness to my location. Had to call your Traffic department to get a truck that wasn't 10 miles away. Still had to go to a different location to get the Car Tow Dolly. Please correct this. This frustration has caused me to not want to rent from U-Haul in the future.

The truck had wrong gas tank level market in the contract. The truck was completely empty. The dispatcher marked the status, with a pen on the contract, but did not change it in the system. Because of this I'm still waiting for reimbursement for my cost.

When we picked up the trailer everything looked ok. However when I loaded it and then proceeded to get on the freeway the trailer started to sway like a tire was out a round. This was an unsafe situation and we could not take the trailer after all to transport the items we needed. We couldn't drive city streets all the way to our destination so I just parked it. This was very much an inconvenience. I did say something to the person at your facility upon return but he was just a laborer and said we needed to talk with the manage. He was busy with a customer and we were on limited time and needed to go. I will be renting again from you in the next weekend as we are moving out of the area. Office did not have AC and it was over 90 degrees outside. Gas was siphoned from the Uhaul so I was given a truck with no gas. Had to drive directly to the gas station and guess how much gas I would need for the day, which resulted in me overfilling and gifting them gas.
