I rented the pick up truck. I was told it had a full gas tank but it was not. Maybe 5/8 full at best. I could hear staff talk bad about corporate usually not a good sign. UHaul could definitely benefit from secret shoppers.

I did have a 26" truck that had an odd "bucking" intermittantly at 55 MPH.... but it wasn't constant and I didn't feel afraid to drive it. I made that known when I returned the truck. The equipment was fairly new... which is nice. I've rented some oldies but goodies from other dealers! The customer service at this location was excellent.

Sacramento was 8 hours late deliverying the boxes, and promised all day on the phone that they were on their way. They forced me to pack overnight saying they could not pick up on Sunday as I requested. They could only pick them up the next day, despite late delivery. They charged me for three boxes, when I used two. My many MANY phone calls to correct did not resolve the overcharge. They did not bring the promised number of furniture pads and forced me to drive to the Roseville location to pick up. Despite three customer objections filed on the overcharge of three boxes, I NEVER received the promised phone call on the objections. I scheduled a mover through move help and was assured on uhaul's customer service line that they would unload the uboxes. The company refused to unload, saying they would only deliver the uboxes to my home.

Boxes arrived late. Boxes not picked up as sceduled. Lots of scheduling promises made over the phone by courteous people, but most not fulfilled. Boxes arrived 13 days late, just in time for $75 per Box prepaid "rent" that must be paid before releasing. Objections or complaints were "investigated" with each division blaming the other - scheduling, transit, shipping, and local stores. People are friendly, but I get different policies and stories each time I call. Have spent hours on the phone with 4 different offices trying to reconcile overchatging me $300 to $800. A nightmare!

This is a review for the U-Haul location at 2830 Broadway Street in Sacramento, California where my original reservation was. U-Haul called me on the phone as I was on my way over to the Broadway Street location in Sacramento on Saturday morning July 8, 2017. I told the person on the phone I was coming to get the van. When I get there, I was told the agent on the phone changed my reservation pickup time to 11pm as I was on the way at 11am and my original reservation was cancelled. There was no other van available. I came from out of town just for this and was not at all happy to have this happen. Fortunately, the El Camino location had some vans but I was still unhappy this very inept mistake happened.

my uhaul wasn't at the location I reserved it at. I had to drive 6 miles further from my ultimate destination to get the truck, adding to the cost of my trip. I received no compensation for this.

The new uhaul, is much different than I remember! Checking in & out was amazing!truck I rented was clean and full of fuel! A/C worked and no problems at all! Checking back in was a breeze! I originally requested a pick up by one of the many stores by me. Ended up getting one 10 miles away. The only problem with the truck was the A/C would go out any time you went up hill. And its a lot of up hills between Sacramento Ca and Fallon Nv. Overall happy with the two stores I dealt with but not so much with U-haul its self.

I made an appointment to pickup a truck at 7:30am at a set lication. I later I received a text along with the confirmation neither stated that the place would be closed, and the new location would not be open until 9:00 am nor was there another email with this information. I was disappointed upon finally getting the truck that I would not have the fours requested. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete our move. Your location was fine but I did not receive the product as promised and will need to look elsewhere in the future for moving trucks. I will have no problem mentioning the frustrations to friends in the future.

Uhaul web site: I got to say the Uhaul web site is pretty bad. Trying to use the earlybird pick up and the web site apparently is not updated with the local uhauls opening times. I made the confirming call to a person and she had to make location changes because the web site info was not correct.

I just looked at my bank statement this morning, and they overcharged me by $38. That's after having to wait 15 minutes while the person who waited on me said she'd be right back...then disappeared into the back room... U-Haul experiences have always been as easy as they should be. It appears that there's some training needed at the El Camino U-Haul.

All of the staff I've dealt with has been WONDERFUL. However, my U-boxes arrived very late, and I have yet to receive a refund for that, in addition, they were so late that I was charged for a new month, and though promised a refund of THAT cost, I've not received that either. I do not want to give poor reviews when I've had such lovely people working with me, but there is clearly some problem when these dedicated, excellent people do not have the power to accomplish customer service needs in a timely manner. Similarly, I found that the people at your 1-800 number seldom had the information needed to help me. Your organization is large, and that is good, but my experience has been that you need some more effective systems to make you run like ONE business. That is what your customers need you to accomplish. I need to repeat here, ALL of the UHAUL staff I've worked with directly has gone far beyond the call of duty to help me - from the CA staff to those here in Oregon. They are some of the most dedicated folks I've ever worked with. Tony in Sacramento and Jennifer in Eugene deserve special mention - AMAZING dedication. For other customers: even with the stress of this delay, if you are in a situation where a delay doesn't mean living in a hotel, or some other huge expense you can't afford, I'd highly recommend this way of moving. I was moving into a place with working appliances, so other than some small replacement costs, the delay was not financially crushing for me. Not one item was broken or damaged, I found the packing and unpacking FAR less stressful because I wasn't having to cram it all into a day or two, and I felt much more comfortable doing it myself, with my things under my own lock and key the whole time.

Manager was very unfriendly and came across as though my rental was an inconvenience to them. She never smiled and rolled her eyes at every question. When the roll door on the first truck didn't work, she yelled loudly at another employee into her radio and just disappeared. The other employee, a young man, was polite and much more helpful. However, the behavior of the manager was nothing close to that of someone who should be in a leadership position.

I had to bring the vehicle back 30 minutes after driving it off the lot. The right front passenger side tire was bald and there was a large gash in sidewall. Vehicle should never have been rented out in that condition. It was also dirty inside and out.

The Truck/Van was not washed. I cleaned the windshield myself.. I could hardly see out of it. The dried on bugs did non come off easy!! The person who checked me in was very nice and went over detail of the contract, High lighting every important detail.. I originally had to pick up from a private company where the u-haul representative would only meet there at a specified time then leaves. It was my fault for being late, but If this could be better explained to the customer so they know to be there exactly on time that would be great.

The counter rep did not have a good attitude. Seemed unfriendly, unprofessional, and easily distracted. She acted like she could kick her feet up on the desk and slack off. I wouldn't recommend her to be a good image for U-Haul to grow. However, the lady who did the vehicle inspection was nice. I give this rating base on her helpfulness.

The center was very busy when we went in, as they were understaffed, but despite that the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly! The entire process was incredibly easy and fast. We rented our truck in the morning and returned it that afternoon without any troubles. I would definitely recommend this facility to a friend!

The brakes were very weak and required brake fluid when we dropped it off in Portland OR. Also the passenger window did not roll up within the track (didm;t notice this until after the rain) so there was water all in the cab. We were traveling to OR from CA with many hills and summits the brakes were very frustrating required us to pump many times to get them to activate.

I rented a truck for 4 hours. I pick up it at 6:00 pm and returned at 9:30 pm. I left the key in the drop off box. However the next day they sent me a receipt (by email) charging me for two days. I try to call them and they transfer me to customer service and told me that the manager (Stephanie) will return my call. She never did so I was recommended to go directly to the store. So I had to make a trip to the store to fix my bill, which was fixed because "it was an error". This is my worst experience with customer service by phone !

We were billed for two days and two hand trucks. I sent an e-mail to no response. Tried to call the actual rental site and they kept placing me on hold. I had to take my lunch time to go over and have them credit my account. Had to stand in line for that too. Not happy. I have used this U-Haul many times. It has never been this frustrating. =(

We arrived at 9am when the store opened and waited in line for an HOUR to get our truck. It put us behind in our moving day. I would recommend having more than one person work when checking people in. There were several people who left due to the line and wait. The employees were all very nice though.

the only complaint I have would be you really need to have more than one person working the counter. I stood in the line for 1 hour 45 mins just to return the carpet cleaner. I think one line return one line pickup at most. Overall I only come to this location staff is very friendly. The older lady who was working the counter was very professional even through all the complaining people were doing she handle each customer with a smile. There was a major safety/liability issue with the vehicle that put my goods in danger, and most importantly, the health and safety of my passenger and I. When a customer picks up a vehicle, they are required to be given a well-maintained, functional, and safe vehicle that can be operated on the public roads and highways in a safe manner. When both headlights are totally inoperable, by law, that is illegal to drive on the road. U-Haul put us in that situation. Further, when we went to return the truck (gassed up to the proper level) to the location on the contract, we were turned away and told to go to another location. We drove there and so the fuel gauge was slightly below the proper level because of the extra mileage. I explained that to the manager and she was adamant about charging me the $30 service fee, which was utterly inappropriate to me. Only because I pushed back did she not end up charging me. That's an example of a lost customer service opportunity: if the manager had treated us courteously, we would definitely have had a positive end to stressful weekend. Instead we left with a negative overall experience. We'll think long and hard before using U-Haul again.

It put us in a bad position because we did not have enough space in the truck they gave us instead for our move. We are very unhappy about a SECOND bad experience now.

when I arrived I gave U haul a copy of my reservation paperwork and I was hooked up and on my way in 10 minutes. When I turned the trailer in I was met in reception yard. Didn't ever need paperwork. every thing was registered, I was expected. The tech disconnect the trailer after inspection and I was out in less than 5 minutes. Quick, efficient, To the point. Trailer had litter from last customer inside. I am not pleased that U-Haul trailers are so easy to steal. I had to provide an extra chain and lock for security. Simply unscrewing the safety chain links releases the trailer. Locks on the safety chain do no good. Also, I am not pleased that you choose to include Spanish in your instructions. This AMERICA, speak English!!

The trailer lights all failed within an hour of leaving the uhaul location. When we reported it upon return it was common knowledge to the grunts checking in that everything had broken. They also had a very harsh vocal back and forth with the owner/manager. If I get motivated, I'll submit a case to better business bureau. It's just kind of par for the course here in California...

They only told me that I would be charged for the gas per gallon. I was never told there would be a $30 charge if under 1/4 tank. We got the van with only a 1/4 tank so if I knew about the service charge I would have put gas in it myself, but since I had rented 3 other trucks/vans in the past 30 days and never got charged that fee (and was never told about the fee) I didn't put gas in it. I'm very upset that they would not adjust the fee.

This was my second time at this location and it unfortunately was not like the first. Getting the truck was simple and went smoothly. During the walk around of the truck i noticed that the fuel was not at the level that was on the contract. It was at a quarter tank rather than a half so i pointed it out to the the staff who was with me. I returned it that night after hours. When my lady went in today to collect my deposit she was told we owed $20 because the tank was not filled to a half tank. Just a note: my reservation was for 7:30 for 4hrs, I picked up truck about 8:20, and was told i had to be back right at 12, cause they had another reservation. i did make it back in time, about 2min to spare, but should felt like i should have been given until 12:20, at least. I'm a loyal customer. If you look up my rental history you'll see that. When I was giving my information I was asked for an additional phone number. I told the woman that I've never been asked that from uhaul in the past. I told her I'm a regular customer with never having an issue. She insisted in order to proceed I asked for the manager and she said I'm the manager. I expressed to her my discontent. I feel if i was a first time customer sure why not. But i felt not trusted by the establishment if uhaul will treat every returning customer in that fashion. I was happy with Ryan he was courteous even though I was upset. I was unhappy with the customer services of the operator who took my request, she never explained that there was extra fees for renting one-way. I asked for a 15' Truck with a car hitch. I came in and paid for both items in full. On 4/7/17, when I came to pick-up the truck/hitch, Ryan asked if I needed a dolIy and blankets and I said yes. It showed on the board the cost was $10.00. I was told that I had to pay $15.00 because it was going one-way. I was upset because I was not told there were extra cost for going one-way. I was able to pay for the extra fees but in the future it should be said up front there are extra fees for one-way. I will not use U-Haul again because I feel that I was nickel and dime for more money. If you charge extra for one-way trips the customer should know up front the full cost.

The people who reserved the truck and checked out were great. However the one who released it did not check the tire pressure so when it was loaded the warning came on. In the morning the gauge would not work so I called the number; after waiting 1and 3/4 hours for the promised call back I drove back to U Haul. On the way there I got a call from a repair person but it was too late. At U Haul the helper first wanted to switch vans but when understanding that it was loaded, tried to fill the tire. Luckily it worked.

My only complaints was this was our third location that we drove to finally drop off our rental. The original drop off location turned out to not work with Uhaul for over a month already. Then was told to drop off to another location which turned out to not accept dropoff because their system was supposedly down. Tina who helped me when I returned was great, however the entire experience from rental to return was a disaster. The truck was filled with wet moving pads, was an older truck so the latch to open and close the back was rusted and difficult to open/shut. I initially wanted to have my Ubox delivered but was told (despite calling a month ahead of time) that they did not have a driver on staff who could accommodate so i could outsource but it would be expensive. I was offered a $50 off a uhaul rental as a concession but did not receive this when paying and the staff acted as if they did not know how to apply the $50 off I was promised. 2 hours of waiting in line and trying to figure out how to get my discount later... I am writing this to inform you so that you can improve future customer experience so you don't lose more customers beyond me and my network (who will not be going with uhaul in the future)

I had a perfect move after, having to redo my reservations with you traffickers. They are not open to hearing that they have messed up your plans. She felt she was doing me a favor after offering me a 10 ft with trailer and extra miles. Instead of the 15 ft truck I reserved two weeks ahead. All of this the day before my move. I went into the store 3 days before and was confirmed. I had to be firm with the traffic tor to get what I ordered. That was unnecessary stress, and I am way to old for that. Keep these people away from you customers... You have in place paid movers. You know what size truck will fit your needs. Come on. She was trying to do me a favor !

Second rep was ok and fixed all errors. Third time I called to change location and the rep was even ruder than first one. Personnel in the actual location was great, no complaints.

U haul had me reserved for a truck in SSF and 2 days before I picked up the truck They called and told me that it was not available anymore. The only truck was here in Sac and I had to drive it there and fill it with gas and another truck for the movers helping since it only sat 3.. I was so frustrated with the entire deal but the folks at El Camino U Haul pulled the rabbit out of the hat.. It cost me an additional $120 in GAS for 2 trucks going from sac to Daly City and back. The worst moving experience I have ever endured. Denver, CO to Sacramento, CA. The initial box delivery was 10 hours late, due to the fact that U Haul totally overbooked the poor guy who got stuck with my order. Had to panic rush pack the box, which led to damage. Every step of the process it seemed as if no one knew what to do or how to find out. Was supposed to be notified when my box shipped and when it arrived, and at that point the charge for payment (over $1,000.00 for just one closet sized box!) would be run. Ha! Got a single, solo random email letting me know that my box was at a UHaul yard in Sac my account had already been charged, and that they would not be able to deliver the box to my new home as contracted because the local driver had quit and there was no one at the Sacramento UHaul capable of towing my box the 1.4 miles to my house. So I had to make separate towing arrangements, bit UHaul had the audacity to CHARGE ME A RENTAL FEE FOR THE TRAILER MY BOX WAS ATTACHED TO when I towed the box home myself. I finally get my box to my new home and go to start unloading, but can't get the box open because UHaul has so badly mangled my personal Master Lock that its locked, jammed and inoperable. Managed to find a pair of bolt cutters and cut my lock off to finally gain access. Never again will I go to UHaul, for anything. Not even a box.

The equipment was fine and worked properly. However the facility opened more than 25 minutes late on Sunday. For a 24 hour rental that is due in the morning, the facility isn't equipped to handle lots of returns at once abs it needs to be open on time!. I was told by some an employee that they were there and couldn't help anybody since they don't have the right keys. The return times should be staggered to allow for the time it trakes to handle returning equipment.

I was impressed more than once on this visit to U-Haul. The location was well thought out and easy to access. The staff were very pleasant, happy to help, and very knowledgeable about their products. The return process was smoother than I could have hoped for. This experience won me over! One minor thing that could be improved is a sign at the entrance telling me which way to go to the office. It was my first time to the site and it took me a minute to figure it out. It's really a small thing. My experience with U-Haul and specifically this location, was an A for outstanding.

I have been in this location twice. They are terribly understaffed. Only one person working, but they seem to have other employees that do not help. Both times, they did not know how to deal with the computer and had to call someone to get directions. Recommendations, always have two people at least at the front that can help customers. Never good to only have one and a line as well as having another employee that just stands around and talks to the one working and that employee doesn't help. Come on people, time is money...and your customers don't have all the time in the world to wait on you!

I came in to pick up the truck I reserved online, however, francisco alfaro managed to update the vehicle and talked me into switching. I agreed to the swith with the knowledge that the $10.00 ins fee will be the only increased fee to $14.00. When I returned the truck, thats when I found out it wasn't .69 cents per mile , it was .89 cents per mile. He is a liar and a crook!!!!! Worst service I ever experience. Liar liar liar, never upgrade without disclosing all hidden fees!!!!!!!!! Liar liar liar!!!!!! Cost me as extra 10.00 because of his lies and crookedness! Pissed the hell off!!!!!! Crooks!!!!! I even returned the damn truck in an hour and a half, with a full tank, when i didnt get it with a full tank!!!! Crooks!!!!!!

I was double charged for the rental. I called in and was given a run around. No one knew what was going on. I was told a manager would give me a call back. I called at end of day and was told i needed to wait another day for the manager. I called mid way through the next day and again was told he was unavailable. Its now been 3 days and he has still not returned my phone call. If i dont receive a phone call today from the manager i will be contacting my bank and authorize a charge back for the unauthorized charges on my credit card.

It's not the location I had an issue with but the web site. I ordered 20 small boxes for 99 cents each. When I got to the store to pick up the truck I was renting I saw that they were selling 25 boxes for 73 cents apeice. I returned the 20 boxes and bought the 25 boxes because I got more boxes for cheaper. Your pricing should be consistent or if anything should be cheaper when you pay in advance online.

The first uhaul I rented would not start when I got it to my destination 5 minutes of driving time from the location. I called and asked them to bring me a new uhaul and was told that I would have to call roadside assistance and wait. Finally after a jump start from a nice stranger I was able to get his uhaul back to the location and was given a different Uhaul. This put me way over my sheduled time as I now had to drive to the Bay Area in traffic. After getting back to Sacramento and unloading I called the location at 7:50 pm and told them I was just a few minutes away and since I paid in cash if they could just wait a few minutes after 8 so i could pay and have this over with. The girl on the phone said yes. I got there not even 8:02 and the girl locked the door in my face and said that they had closed their register and would have to come back in the morning to pay. I asked for the manager and she pointed at a man sitting out front of the store in uniform on the sidewalk talking to another guy. I told him the situation and asked if I could please pay so I could have this ordeal over with. He just dismissed me rudely and told me to come back in the morning. The time at this point was 8:05 pm Literally 5 minutes after your official closing time. The employees at this location and rude and do not know even the least bit about decent customer service with the exception of the woman who rung me up who was friendly and seemed genuine. I work as a general manager of a big box retail store and was using your services for business. We will never again rent from your company after this experience. I would never complain about customer service unless the service I receive was so bad that it needed to be said. I hope you guys shift your focus to customer service and hiring employees who are not just there to do the bare minimum and clock a pay check.

Fix your express check-in on the web. It doesn't save all the info so when you show up at the location you have to do it all again abd I have heard it has been that way for a while! Fix it.

When my husband and I arrived there was a customer already being helped. No one acknowledged us. The worker then picked her head in the back room and said she was with a customer and another costumer needed help. She walked right by not even saying someone would be with us soon or anything. Then a man came out and started helping us. Didn't seem to excited to help us. I asked him about extra days and he said they were $40 but failed to mention I'd have to pay for using the dolly, appliance dolly, moving pads, and insurance.... then when we were all done he said to go outside and someone would help us. We stood outside in front for 5 mins and I went back in to make sure that's where I should be standing and he told me to go to the end of building and a lady will be there to help. She was quick and friendly. The rest of them didn't seem to like their jobs...

I think charging 89 cents a mile is OUTRAGEOUS!!! Why not just put the gas back that is used up why the 89 cents a mile plus cost of the truck it's pretty pricey. But I would recommend this U-Haul they are very nice and do what they can to be of asst.

When I arrived the truck had very little gas and was told we needed to get our own gas and if we returned it with less then we had when we got it we would be charged more. I asked if we added more gas then what was given in the first place are we refunded the amount? They said no. Sooo, we wound up giving truck back with more gas then was in it when rented at our cost... They claimed there is no way to put gas in the trucks, since they did not have pumps on site. I feel they should have reimbursed the mileage or other costs in exchange for extra gas put in truck when returned. Bad customer service and attitudes from sales people at desk. Person taking/documenting truck when returned was a wonderful person though. Will make sure to warn others of this location and their issues...
