I tried to use my computer for returning the van I rented' I didn't realize I had to use a cell phone. I went to U*HAUL in Meriden and there was no problem. Other then that I would rent again from there.

If the 24/7 service is going to be used, then the set up of the vehicle's location and the additional equipment rented should be in the vehicle already rather than wait for over the counter clerk to finalize the process. Also, the vehicles driver's side view mirror could not be adjusted hence creating a little safety hazard.

I need a response . Looking over my bill for 96.78. The rental was for 19.95 which should be for the day . Mileage was quoted at .29 plus the waiver of 11 comes to a total is $59.08. There is no indication what the tax rate it . I am guessing about 61/2% which would come to a total of $62.92. Which means you over charged me $30.86 Please explain immediately , Jeff Latham

Parking for your vehicle is on the street but is not their fault,, the lot is small for the many vehicles, vans trucks trailers etc. they can supply. I found the cargo van immaculate and the woman that helped went way above and beyond her job description to help me. Very patient and courteous. will always get future U-Haul equipment from there.

The comment I have that they had one person working on Saturday Dec 8, 2018. When I had to drop the truck. They were more customer waiting. I think if you know your schedule ahead of time they should be more helpful to the customer. I think is not safe for one person to work alone in a business like yours. Madeline

The location itself is difficult. Parking lot area is way to small for this type of business. Lots of website and ap issues. Then more issues with the locations computer system. The young woman behind the counter was friendly and apologetic for the issues.

Change the drop of location when we asked when we picked up. Instead they said call a number and we can change drop off location. In the end they wanted to charge double for different drop off. We ended up having to make a4 hour trip to the reserved drop off

I really can't think of any improvements for the people or the van that we rented from U-Haul. I used a competitor two other times that ended up costing me more to use it for at least half of the time, if not more, than when I used U-Haul. Plus the competitor's van was filthy both in the back where we placed our furniture and bedding as well as up front where we sat. I will definitely rent a van or truck from U-Haul in Meriden, Connecticut again.

The truck I rented leaked badly on the trip & damaged some of my things. Also the windshield wipers were terrible & very noisy on my whole 12 hour trip. I had to put my wet items in a storage unit because I don't have an apartment yet. I am very disappointed. If my wet things mild I will loose many of my cloths & two comforter sets. Other items have been lost completely & had to be thrown away. I think I should have something done to replace my ruined items.

Better than last 2 times I used U-Haul in June when my truck was not available and I had to downsize and then I had to wait a few hours for my truck to come in. It was not a good experience when you have to then have to make two trips instead of one and have all of your movers waiting also.

very slow computer. had to spend well over 20 minutes online and getting the vehicle checked in. partially due to trainee being trained. I was never asked if it was ok for the training process to occur. I would have said yes, but not being asked is not professional.

Too expensive and vehicle was damaged and not marked. Went down the street for 15 mins and came back because I rented it too early. I was suppose to rent it tomorrow. Mistakened the dates on when I needed it and ended up paying $45 for 15 mins of use. This sucks.

When dropping off found out there was a $26 return clean fee I would really like my money reimbursed I understand there might be circumstances when a vehicle is left with debris or spillage our circumstance was literally a 2 1/2 hour trip with a small rental cleanup fee should be assessed when you drop a vehicle off And then if it requires a cleanup fee that should be charged.

How come y’all don’t appreciate the military? You give a senior discount but not military? Gross. The lady that checked the truck back in was amazing! Only good service I’ve ever had from U-Haul! She needs to be promoted to training other agents how to deal with customers! Truly impressed by her.

If i arrive before the store is closed, i expect service. I brought my rental back at 6:50 pm and the lady working the register refused to check me in. She didnt even acknowledge my presence for the first 5 minutes. Very poor customer service.

The Meriden location opens at 7 AM. We arrived 10 minutes early for our 8 AM reservation and the STORE WAS CLOSED. At around 8:05 a worker pulled into the parking lot and opened the store. My husband and I were the first in line out of 4 people yet we still didn't leave with our truck until 8:30. This completely threw off the schedule of movers we had in CT and derailed the entire day. To top it off the truck smelled of smoke and had used tissues in it. I would never use this location again.

Did not have the van I requested. The first place in Plainville Ct. I received a call that the Van wouldn’t be available until 2pm. I then changed location to Meriden Ct. We I arrived at Meriden the clerk was just finishing a phone conversation. It was concerning the Van I ordered. She didn’t have one for me. I ended up getting a pickup truck. This made it harder for me to move my equipment being up so high and open. The clerks I spoke to were all very nice . I would have given a higher review if the Van was available as promised . As this happen to me in two different location average is the best I could give UHaul. Need to work on communication to insure the right truck is available.

The left side back door of the van would not open, very big problem loading a sectional sofa through the side door! Called the office twice, was put on hold, and no one ever addressed the issue with me. Young girl working the front desk stated she had told the manager, but I was never contacted. Pick up was a very long process, as was the drop off...will not rent from this office again.

Picking up the rental was not easy. The girl behind the counter was more concerned with being on her phone, eating a breakfast sandwich while waiting on customers and drinking her coffee than assisting the customers and making the line move quickly. Dropping off the rental was far much easier because thankfully it was a different staff member and she made sure to expedite the drop off process and was very customer service friendly.

The trailer was clean but it leaked badly. We had art work and books on the floor as well as some furniture. Most of the stuff we are drying, but some of the books incurred damage that is probably not fixable. I believe the artwork is okay. But the pieces were originals that are not replaceable. No Rembrandt or Picasso's. Just local and family artists.

Double booking. Going to pick up. They push u to get a bigger truck because the booked one broke down and wants to charge you more.. when u arrive to drop off some employee ignore you. Honestly it's a lot to improve . I rent 3 times in a wk and was the most stressful experience.from the begging to the end.

We were told the day before our move that the location to pick up our truck was 9 hours later than requested and an hour out of our way in the opposite direction. When we called to address the situation, we were told there was nothing that could be done. We then received a call asking if we would like to push back our reservation because people usually show up late? Why should we be more inconvenienced because others are not held responsible for dropping the truck off on time. The call should have been placed to the truck getting dropped off saying that they will be charged a late fee if they do not return on time. The woman leaving the message even laughed at the idea of them returning it on time. I understand it is your busiest weekend but more communication will only solve your issues that weekend.

Agent Keishia Rio and trainee attached the trailer to my pickup truck. They did not secure it properly and went I went over a set of railroad tracks less than 1/2 mile away the trailer became detached and damaged my truck and tore the wiring harness. I immediately went back to the store where she denied not tightening the hitch. She replaced the wiring harness. My truck was damaged because she failed to tighten the nut to keep it secure.

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life renting a truck. The non-existent and dismissive customer service was horrendous. I was charged a late fee because they said I didnt check my truck in when I was there for a half an hour checking it in and then re checking it in and kept getting a message at the end saying there was an error on your end and to try again in a couple minutes all while waiting on hold for a customer service person both while we were there and the whole ride home till finally almost an hour had passed so I hung up and called first thing in the morning and was assured I would not be charged a late fee. Only to get my final receipt with a $15 late charge that then the lady at the store had to refund me because I had wasted both my night and whole morning trying to get this fixed. So not only was a charged extra but I was given an attitude by the customer service rep who says she called the store however the lady who just refunded me my $15 Swears the rep never called her at all or even entered a note about anything I explained to her. Also when we picked up the truck the check engine light was on and we were told it was fine however I feel like especially since that is one of the questions you answer upon returning that they should probably fix that before renting it. All in all the whole system aside from the in person part seems pretty faulty.

The return policy is complete crap. I got out of work at 2am to return a truck then I have to go on your site and fill out info and take pictures like really? That's uhauls Job not mines . You need to train your employees better. Need to be more attentive. Your worker failed to tighten the hitch lock in the auto transport that I rented. It stayed on until I went to load the car. Then it popped off of the ball and lurched forward damaging my truck. I called and got transferred to another Dept. Where I sat on hold for 15 minutes with no answer. Today the young lady that took care of the check in was informed of the issue and gave me full credit for the rental. It could have been a very dangerous situation had I not seen the problem.

The issue I had was not with the individual store but with the uhaul overall. They told me on the phone when I made my reservation that I could have a 26 foot truck for 24 hours from Middletown location. I drove to Middletown for them to tell me they didn’t have that truck and the only thing they could do was give me a 17 foot truck. It cost me a lot of time and extra driving.

I reserved a trailer online at one location, but once I arrived, they told me they did not have a reservation and didn’t have a trailer on site. I had to drive an additional 20 minutes to get the trailer. Once I got there I found out that if you didn’t give them an e-mail they would not rent to you, and you have to provide a second phone number, which they called and a person had to answer or they would not rent.

I reserved a truck with a ramp since I am disabled, and when I got there, apparently the Girl never put the reservation in the computer. This was after waiting for 30 minutes because there was nobody there to be found. Turn out she was at Dunkin Donuts. If you want to make sure your truck is there when you go to pick it up, don't go here!!!

I did not appreciate that when I made my reservation I made it for 24 hours. When I picked up my truck I was told only 4 hours. I did NOT receive any text stating a change in hours and it was frustration as I was on a time crunch, thus having to rent an additional vehicle costing me twice what I budgeted for. I am VERY UPSET that I had to spend twice the amount of money. This is something I was told that “corporate” does in order to get the most rentals in. I will NOT BE USING UHAUL AGAIN!!!

Commit to the return time you tell the customer at check in. I had a woman tell me I couldn’t keep the truck 2 hours later because she rented it for 3:30. She didn’t care at all what I was told, she said oh he’s a trainee. I’ be looking for other moving companies in the future due to her attitude.

I reserved a truck for 48 hrs. and found out the day before that they weren't going to let me keep it for 2 days. Then they told me I could have the 17' truck on either fri. or sat., but not both. I ended up with a much smaller truck one day, which messed me up - and not having the truck overnight messed me up as well, as I would have been able to pack it much sooner and get done much earlier the next day. On the second day, I was told that there would be hand carts included, as it was a 17' truck, and I also paid for blankets that were not in the truck. When we returned the truck, we were told that the hand carts did not come with it, which was different than what the first person told us. We were refunded the $ for the missing blankets, but it was not cool trying to pack without blankets. Some things were scratched, and I'm not happy about that. Service was slow and not very energetic.

I was very disappointed with the service. I was called on Thursday and left a message that the online service is allowing rentals for time periods that they don’t have trucks and to call back. I tried called over 10 times with no answer and I had to go down after work to see what was going on. The lady was very brunt and said we need to shorten your rental. Do you really need it for 24 hours? I actually didn’t but was not happy and the tone and there was no professionalism with the talk. I went to retrieve the truck Friday with no incident but when returning I was faced with the same lady who as soon as I walked it told me you have to back that truck up and get it in the return lane. I had no idea of this lane and should have been told about it when picking up. Her rudeness was uncalled for. Then I was told I was supposed to sweep out the truck and she was shaking her head after I was returning the truck earlier then rented for so I was not a happy camper. The service Leaves a lot to be desired and I am very dissatisfied with it. A truck is a truck but the service and ease is what will bring you back and I do not see me returning. There are other options available and I expected more.

I would recommend the location because they have a full array of equipment available, but they are understaffed and it was necessary to visit the location twice to set up the rental and again to confirm. The trailer had what I think was a bad wheel bearing which had a significant impact on my gas mileage- the load was a large wooden construction that weighed less than 50 pounds. It arrived unscathed.

I have a problem that I was informed was a u haul policy. I made an online reservation confirming 24 hours. Less than 24 hours prior I was made aware that the location could only accommodate for 8 hours. They stated the reservation period was at the discretion and availability of trucks at that location. It takes a lot of planning to move and to have plans change less than 24 hours is unrealistic. I will never rent from u haul again.

Staff at this location was great. Helpful and friendly. But there was only 1 person working on a very busy morning and the computer system seemed to be having problems, slowing down the process for everyone. Waited 40 minutes past my scheduled pickup time to get my truck. Truck was fine, drop off was easy.

I was told it would take 2 hrs to insall a hitch. When I arrived, they said it would be 2 hours because they don't have the best tools or the most skilled employees. I checked progress after 1.5 hours. They had trouble putting bolts in. After 2.5 hours they said they may not be able to install the hitch! at 2.8 hours they said they would remove the whole thing and I would go empty handed. I went to another hitch company. They saw that uhaul of Meriden stripped my bolt holes and cut off the splash guard under my car. To fix it, I had to pay $170.16. The other facility was able to install my hitch. The problem was fixing what uhaul destroyed. I have been on hold with customer "service" for 15 minutes so far and no one has even said hello. It is 11 am. I would never recommend Uhaul to anyone, especially not the Uhaul of MERIDEN, CT

The staff was helpful and courteous. The location was convenient. The truck was clean, but, the visors were both broken and the service engine light was on. The visor issues is a hazard as they swing around into your vision and can cause a distraction or loss of front vision. I had less than 50 miles to drive and I found it very distracting.

I love the ease of dropping the truck back off. I did not even have to go inside. And the worker had a hand held machine to scan my credit card and to log the miles. That was the best experience. After you spend all day working and moving, you're exhausted so it's really awesome to be able to drop off the truck and not even have to go into the store, it's all done outside and you can jump back in your car and go home! Perfect idea!

Person who attached our trailer forgot to tighten screw so half way home the trailer came off the hitch. Luckily our motorcycle wasn't on the trailer but it could have been a real disaster. We have used this location before and will not hold this against them but will be sure to re-check attachments in the future.

U-Haul changed my rental pickup location at the very last minute. I received a call from a "Cathy" in the corporate office. I reserved my rental a week ago. When I tried to call the local pickup location I could never get through- the call was pushed to a main office somewhere. They were not very good customer service wise. It seems to me that the actual pickup locations are understaffed.

The 2 girls were rude. Especially the girl manager... ( Heavy set). Yeld at me and told me I entered in the wrong area, and instead of her fixing the truck she made me get back in it and turn it around. She new I was in a hurry. Then I had questions when I left after renting the truck, and when I called back no one picked up for over 2 hrs. Repeatedly went to voicemail.

trailers need more tie-downs inside that can be used with ratchet straps. There is only one in each corner and in the middle. Very inconvenient for strapping things down

Check in process went smoother than I anticipated. Even though there was a line, I got checked in the reservation and driving the truck in about 15 minutes. I returned the truck after hours at this location. I was forced to use the Android app to return the truck. It was a poor experience. SIgn in failed multiple times and the app did not know that I had a reservation. I did not know what to do. Luckily the employees were still at the location and they went out of there way to help me finish the return process. Satisfied with the uhaul staff, extremely dissatisfied with the App.

Everything went fine until the end. We couldn't return the truck before the store closed and tried to complete the process using the app and then using the website. Unfortunately, neither worked and now we're getting charge $15 because the technology didn't work. Doesn't seem equitable when everything else went well.
