Tammy R | Overall ExperienceEverything turned out great. There was some confusion on my part because I rented this unit online and chose to purchase a lock from U-haul. It said that my lock would be left in the unit so that I would not need to go to the front office, but that was not the case. There was no lock in the unit. I did need to go to the front office. When I asked them about this, they told me that they never leave locks in the unit and that they always provide them at the front office, so I felt that there was a disconnect somewhere. The use of the code was a bit confusing for me as well because the door to the building automatically opens when you walk towards the building so I wasn't sure that I still needed to enter the code. I am neurodivergent, so what is clear to others is not always clear to me. The people in the front office were patient with me and explained things several times in different ways to make sure I understood all of the instructions. Thank you.

Donald N | Overall ExperienceSo to start with when I reserved my unit over a month in advance. For a standard size climate control unit. When I got there I was told they did not have that all they had was a closet size non climate control and that is what I would have to take. To put everything that I owned in. So then after having my belongings in that unit I was finally able to get the right size after a year and a half. Then after having my items in the unit and keeping up with it life happened and I got behind. They auctioned off my unit on the 12th of December. In the process they also threw things out that should have been shredded. And now thanks to them I am having to change my bank account do to checks being in the wrong hands.. and probably birth certificate as well. So no I would not recommend uhaul to anyone.

It wasnt until i was ready to empty out my storage that I got the call that my lock wasnt on properly. Luckly all my stuff was still there. A miracle on Alameda St. for sure. I had a Uhaul scheduled so I believe thats why attention was made to the lock being secure or not. Thats crazy.

Told her my name and number- she couldn't find the reservation so she had me get anther unit, larger than what I originally wanted and if course more expensive, I was so exhausted that I didn't argue, just accepted it, paid cash, and was asked if I had a disc lock, the package I originally ordered online came with one because I "booked now", she gave me one. Before we left, we went to check on the unit and to unload my car that was full of boxes, locked up and left. I was leaving and headed down el paseo, I thought to check my account- sure enough, there was the pending charge from my reservation. I called back and she then looked up the number again and miraculously found it! We went back because I needed the cash with my account having been charged and I asked if she would allow us to keep the current unit at the original price that I booked at, I had booked a 9x13x9, this was a 10x10x10, she said she couldn't do that, "that is manager stuff." So she asked if we wanted to keep the one we were in, or go to the reserved one which was less each month, I chose that for that reason and so we loaded our boxes back into the car, and moved units. This whole entire thing including moving, has been quite the ordeal and I'm frustrated. She did give me a discount on next month's fee but that really doesn't make up for it. Moving is exhausting and that was the last thing I needed at the end of a long day- week, month!! Train your employees better please.

It was a hard and long trip for us with dogs and chickens. LOL Ed Ramirez certainly has what it takes to go much further. If I may say so myself, he probably needs one helluva good raise. He is the only reason I'm giving UHaul an excellent rating. It definitely wasn't because of Mississippi. I ordered to pick up my truck in Gulfport and had to drive all the to Biloxi to get it. I never could get online for UHaul. Couldn't get any anwers except from Ed Ramirez. Thank You Ed Ramirez for your dedication to such F***** Up company. I hope UHaul higher up recognize all of your hard work and excellent customer service.

ROLAND T | First ImpressionsThere two compelling reasons for a low rating: lack of actual security and inability to access bathrooms with our security card. The cards don't actually work, so you leave the doors unlocked. Every time someone opens their locker there is a prolonged, horrific alarm because the cards are bogus ane people have learned not to even try to use them. Not a good situation, either for security or bathroom facilities. Your staff is pleasant.

They wouldn't let me buy the cheaper padlock I wanted stating the doors only locked with the expensive lock! Not true. It's just super inconvenient!

CHAROLINE V | Overall ExperienceSo happy to have this opportunity to review the UHaul Location on El Paseo Road, Las Cruces NM. The entire staff were welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. The faculty itself: their main office was organized & they maintained required distance between customers (in following with Covid directions). They displayed all UHaul products in organized manner. During busy times I noticed they always continued to acknowledge & greet new customers & still worked well to give great service to everyone. I did visit their store on El Paseo multiple times while I had a storage unit there & they were always the same: kind, courteous & hard-working. I was also able to watch as they received equipment from rentals & they were cleaning it, checking/regulating air pressures in tires & storing equipment until it was rented again. The building housing my storage unit was within walking distance, there were signs directing you to the entrance to unload your items. This entrance was protected from the elements (rain/sun) by a well constructed tarpaulin-type roof. (As the temps can get hot in this area, this is well-appreciated feature.) There are multiple carts available for customer use to transport your items to your storage unit & all in great working order. (There are no wonky-wheeled carts here, they all look almost-new & are smooth rolling). The storage unit was clean & free of any dirt or debris & was easy to locate & access. The security features are excellent and they are easy-to-use directions for customers’ access. Both the process of renting & clearing out of my storage unit were simple and quick. I appreciate receiving detailed receipts sent to my email. Upon completion of my rental of a storage unit at this location- I did rent a 5x8 trailer, this procedure was also handled in a very efficient & professional manner. In fact, the Mgr, Mr. Ed Ramirez was the one who processed/completed this action for me. He made 2 suggestions (pertaining to taking some action with my ball/hitch and the extension housing the ball/hitch) that upon doing so, made my road trip back across Texas a much smoother ride than when I had first pulled a 5x8 trailer to Las Cruces. Those 2 “tweaks” were truly appreciated and the difference made the process of towing a UHaul trailer behind my SUV, an easier and much smoother experience. My compliments to Mr. Ed Ramirez for managing such a well-run business.

So I got stuck with a smaller unit and no climate control on the second floor. With only stairs to get my stuff up there. And with being a female and having to move furniture and stuff by myself is a real inconvenience. Not happy at all with my experience this time and have no plans of ever using u-haul for moving ever again do to this

I arrived in New Mexico and the facility told me they where all booked and had no storage unit for me!!! They gave me a smaller unit the next day when I called customer service to complain. When I went to get the storage into they tried to charge me full price for it when I was supposed to receive a free month since I booked the truck and storage. Worst experience ever talk about incompetence at its finest. I would not recommend Uhaul to anyone!!

I had to get a 17 ft truck instead. There was not much empathy for my inconvenience and I got the sorry but "we've been really busy." That is a service issue not a customer issue. In the end, it worked out okay but equipment should be available when promised.

It was still reserved under my name and there were no other units available. I had moved out of my apartment that day and had no where to put my stuff. I am still getting email about “my” storage unit when I am not in the facility or paying any money. I mentioned that the website still lists multiple available units when I walked into the building however when I complained about the website being wrong was told it was not their fault. I checked it when I came back to the car and all the listings were now gone. There website should be updated for people with extenuating circumstances. If the units are not available the website needs to reflect this and not allow people to pay and secure a spot.

I was late on my payment a couple times but the calls to collect it was rude and There was no conversation on how to resolve the situation it was just about the late fees. The door to the unit i got wouldnt close right all the time.
