Eddie QThe facility is chronically unsecure. Alarms are regularly set off without any response from the office. It is clear the surveillance is not being reviewed. There is a major homeless problem. Several people are living in trashed units doing drugs and avoiding management’s 6am walk through. I became an FBI informant after witnessing the plotting of an attack and the moving of weaponry two units over from mine staged as a few people sorting their storage belongings. The walkways and elevator were repeatedly filled with trash [disrespectul customers]. I had to join in the custodial efforts for my own peace of mind. The restroom was repeatedly being used in pairs for drug abuse. Sometimes two people in there at the same time. At other times, rotating while the door was blocked by the other person. I was the victim of a violent crime on the premises. My initial experience requesting the tapes for my case was positive because it did not involve Ricardo. However, the manager Ricardo [more than a week later] spoke harshly to me on the matter in the office demonstrating his opinion that I am not the victim of domestic violence as if scoffing at me. Ricardo told me specifically that he would not be watching the tapes [even though I was not requesting him to]. The comment was implying that they weren’t worth watching because there was nothing to see. His opinion is null and void when the video evidence demonstrates the physical assault. To be dehumanized by a professional as a customer with zero grounds for doing so crossed every ethical line. Ricardo placed my account on “Restricted Access” after he went and spoke to a marketing specialist while the General Manager was on vacation. He promised me on Wednesday that I would receive a call back from the General Manager on Monday of the following week [which never occurred] after wrongfully putting me on restricted access. Within minutes, I went from having 24 hour access and paying on time for three units [2 10x10, 1 8x10] kept meticulously clean and organized serving as someone caring for the facility above and beyond even after being subjected to a criminal and unkempt environment to being someone who was unable to access my stuff save for by the request of office staff and for only thirty minutes [obscene given the fact I have 30x10 feet worth of belongings]. Ricardo very wrongfully flung open our unit at 6am when we had been in there sorting and organizing all of our belongings for hours. He then prompted to start dishing out consequences of “removing 24 hour access” when we had done nothing wrong. We were not living out of the unit. Ricardo made it very clear he only cared about himself and would be willing to go over the top to ensure his hands were clean and he would face no fall out from anything he assumed. He already had formulated a poor opinion of me based on his assumptions about the domestic violence and it translated to dehumanizing treatment with him blocking my ability to seek or have fair resolution with upper management. He interfered with my capacity to speak to anyone beyond himself and forced an obscene measure upon a good person in a matter of seconds and upheld it for a week with zero attempts to make amends or find a fair resolution. The mal-treatment was so unprofessional and unwarranted that I moved all three units out with two weeks still paid. As I scrambled to load the carts with my stuff to clear all 30 ft of my belongings, I had staff there on Ricardo’s instruction trying to close up my units and prevent me from removing my legal property from their property. I was deprived of a humane move-out. Furthermore, after a decade of being a faithful U-Haul customer in multiple states and locations for truck rentals and storage, this defining experience has given me the inspiration to stop being a customer of U-Haul.
CLAIRE F | Overall ExperienceThe management & staff were very helpful and efficient. I recently closed out a term of about 16 months at the location off of Centennial & Garden of the Gods. One employee in particular , named Ricardo, bent over backward to assist me on more than one occasion. He checked in with me as I was loading large, somewhat bulky items to see if he could be of help. On a particular day my loading path took me to a spot where the water hose for the departure/return of rented trucks made my loading difficult. He disconnected the hose, & waited until I was done before reconnecting, obviously for safety reasons. Ricardo is the model of an exemplary employee. He definitely had a positive impact on my experience with U-Haul storage.
Susie J | Overall ExperienceOne small, tiny thing that has more to do with U-Haul process than the Centennial location; otherwise the experience was near perfect! I originally reserved my rental at a different site and was to pick it up there. When I received the email titled "Your U-Haul Order" my rental had been redirected to the Centennial location, but very subtly. My expectation was that I would pick up the trailer from the location where I had reserved it. I just happened to notice that the address in this email was different. A bold note on the email stating that the" pickup location had changed" would focus attention on the location change and possibly avoid miscommunications.

Tim BGood Morning, I am writing in reference to my recent experience with MANY u-haul companies. On August 7th I rented a u haul 20 foot truck with car tow to drive from Huntsville Alabama, to Dallas, Texas, ending in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Upon picking up my equipment there was a problem applying my 10%military discount which I think may have in the long run, not applied throughout the rentals. The first 20 foot truck check engine light came on before I got the vehicle home. I had already been charged at the initial store for both the truck and trailer. I had to return the truck and was told I needed to go to another store to pick up the 20 footer from there. (This store ended up charging me again, for the 20 foot truck, but not the car tow.) The second truck came with less than half a tank of gas and was not full. I called road service during this because when I needed it most on the 5 day trek, the AC kept stopping or gravely minimizing where I could not feel the AC. The trucks shift wobbled and it was difficult to maneuver. The odometer kept changing the A and B trips mileage and that could be a microchip issue as A.I. affects everything in our world now to include car/ truck functionality based on the algorithm of an inanimate object. The gas mileage was horrific and I spent nearly $1,000 on over eight fill up stops that warranted in excess of $80 each the highest being over $100. In turning in the truck I was Assessed an unexpected $284.10 extra mileage fee. that I am asking if it can be reversed, or credited back for having to go out of my way to seek gas in locations throughout. (I purchased both the $99 Safe move and $70 trailer protection) which in itself should offer unlimited mileage for less Human Being Stress. Can Corporate please access the notes by all the uhauls to confirm the double rental charges, that took longer to return to my credit card than the initial deduction. Any communication would be greatly appreciated. The added over mileage charges tipped my u- haul experience to horrible and currently I would not recommend your company to anybody that I know. An added note is that the U haul facility where I'm storing my entire home in a 10x15 unit is a nightmare! The Uhaul located in Colorado Springs Constitution is a maze of horribly numbered units where I'm going to pay $179 a month for a 10x15 when I needed a 10x10. The second floor units are only accessible by ONE elevator that was being serviced when I had to hire to have my 20 foot truck unloaded into the storage unit. The numbering and mapping was worse than any mouse maze to maneuver through. When the elevator was in use the only stairs led outside for an emergency exit. (If that facility has stairs that can be used to unload, I failed to find them in a labyrinth of confusion that staff even has to map for customers). My $284 being refunded will help me greatly. Thank you for holding u-hauls accountable because this new world order that we are living that makes everything in life more complex is being made worse by the none communication between u-haul to u-haul location. It used to be that paying for my u haul once, meant that all u haul facilities had computer access to my payment even if they now appear to be individually owned. They are ALL still uhaul ambassadors not individual entities.

I was asked to go get gas to even start my work, then I was supposed to figure out how much gas would leave it at a quarter of a tank. I over filled it but they would not credit me the gas. The funny part is that if I had under filled it you can bet they would have charged me for the gas! What a double standard. I'll go back to Ryder

Kama fNo complaints about the employees at this location or any other location that I have rented from! $19.95 a day $.79 a mile. I expected to drive about 200 miles. I needed something a bit bigger The rate that uhaul charges for the in town rental is great everyday of the week, and the mileage rate is reasonable but keep in mind on Friday and Saturday they charge $1.09 a mile! Milage rates during the week are $.79 a mile. When you drive it over 200 miles that adds up fast. A one way rental would have cost me less. The 15’ uhaul was a bit older, it had a lot of slack in the steering wheel, it pulled to right side which made the entire drive more stressful.

Ricardo also deserves a shout out. He helped me a lot too. Even going into other U-Haul places in the Springs I felt like I’d just rather be doing business at this location (had to go to other locations bc they were out of trucks sometimes). I never leave reviews but Jason really deserves some recognition for the way he runs the place. I thank him a lot for all this continued help and support. IMO he should just run U-Haul altogether.

From lots of miscommunication btwn U-Haul stores, being told to drive to a different location to pick up a van, getting there being told our van was at the other location we were just at, saying we had late night access but arriving to the place around 7 w a full van only to find out there was no 24 hour access, multiple charges to cards that shouldn’t have gone through, being given two small units rather than one that we requested, being told “free mileage” would be given if we got a cargo van verses a box van, reaching out to the manager, him telling me he would reimburse our storage unit but when I explained the situation and I asked for credit towards future U-Haul instead of credit towards our storage unit TWICE, both times I didn’t get a response. Over all I would say that my experience was very poor. The only thing that was good were the team members working. Everyone had a great attitude.
