Adella O | Overall ExperienceHomeless people and crackhead everywhere. Made me feel very unsafe and made me never want to leave my stuff unattended when loading or unloading my vehicle. When moving my stuff out of the unit there was liquid on top of one my boxes that was near the top that smelled like pee. Seems like there are people doing drugs inside the units you can smell it everywhere.

I was always afraid I would run into that problem and I was so happy that my belongings were just as I left them the day I put them in. Even minimal dust. Temperature controlled units were also a plus. The only thing I will say is there were some drug paraphernalia around the halls and some people that looked like they were living out of the unit which made it slightly uncomfortable to come in and out alone, but they were typically friendly and not there to cause trouble. I understand the financial strains of housing at this time and so to see they were keeping their unit clean and like I said, friendly, didn’t make it a problem for us. But we did notice.

I was pretty worn out by the time I got to them but they made it easy for time to get a storage unit and move my stuff in. I even got a veteran discount which made my choice to go with U-Haul Moving & Storage one that really benefitted me. They listened to what I had to say and acted accordingly..

People in and out ALL hours of the night, smoking god knows what in their storage lockers and even in the bathrooms... very very dirty, I remember down my aisle there was this purple plastic bag looking type thing literally just right in front of someone's locker literally for about 4months. Whoever cleans the place (if there was someone for that job there) didn't do a very good job at all. Never swept, windows filthy, right before I got everything out of my storage I saw roaches crawling on the walls... which caught me by surprise because the entire 2.5 years I had my storage there I never saw any type of bugs ever. So I was glad and relieved that I was no longer going to have a storage there anymore.. aside from homeless people smoking in the bathrooms, they are very clean and kept up with...

Andres A | First ImpressionsAll good except I really didn’t appreciate the price hike after signing the contract, and as you well know, there’s a serious issue with vagrants/addicts hanging around the entrance and inside the storage units. I’m a single parent with a toddler and didn’t have a choice but to bring my child with me and every time it was a sketchy experience that felt dangerous-not to mention, my lock was always messed with in an attempt to get into my unit. I mentioned it several times, people are mostly friendly that work there but I realized nothing’s going to change. With the cameras you have there, it should be very easy to tell people they’re trespassing and involve enforcement until the word gets out that it’s not a place they can go to for any reason.

Not only did I run into an issue with my unit being infested with some sort of insect in October, after not being able to follow up on the claim I tried to forfeit my rights for the unit so I could just put it all behind me. Not only did the message not get relayed, I was charged rent up until march. Even after trying to contact numerous times(via email and phone) to forfeit my rights and avoid further debt. Not a single person was helpful in trying to resolve this issue.

Twice over the phone and twice online I just wasn't able to get through and/or when I did, it didn't work properly. Also, there was a moving cart available only half the times I needed one (including having the wrong one available). But great staff, great price. Very happy.

You are given a storage unit for free but it was a bit hard for the branch to assign it because they didn't have a way to find you had been given the unit for free for the first month. The u-haul operator mentioned an specific size for the free unit but you are given a smaller one. I was able to put all my belongings but at the begining it was hard to communicate with them. After some communication, they were very friendly.

If I could offer any critiquing it would be about the sliding doors making the building too accessible to almost anyone. Individuals off the street would be able to see the donation section and walk in to browse. As far as the location, I have been sitting in my truck quietly in the parking lot and would see someone walk by several times and look in my vehicle and it made me wonder what could possibly happen if a customer was inside for too long and left their vehicle unattended. Also, at some point during my rental, a very expensive carpet shampooer and a vacuum were both taken from my unit, either while I was outside or in the restroom. The insurance company has a hefty deductible and is not very understanding about theft of items. Overall it was a very decent experience and the storage space was sufficient and very clean! Very professional staff.

So I have to say they did an amazing job. The employees were polite and helpful and once inside the building I felt safe and trusted my items would be secure. Doing anything in this area is scary due to the crime. Unloading at night is a gamble and I panicked that someone broke into one of my cars for the third time this year while unloading because the there is no fence around the unloading area, but everything that u-haul could control was excellent.

If I own the company those two wiould be president and vice president. Lisa L | Overall ExperienceThe storage facility was well-lit and seemed secure except for occasionally that it seemed someone was taking up residence there and a few times some rude and shady folks lurking about. It may just be the area. In the summer, the area where my unit was seemed to be close to 90 degrees and in winter quite cold. I'm not sure that the units on the fringes of the building were as climate-controlled as advertised. I waited and asked for a larger unit for about 3 months. When none came available, I moved to another storage facility that is cleaner, safer, and better climate-controlled that had a larger unit available. The employees at U-Haul were always polite and accommodating.

One of them accosted us and continually badgered us with in appropriate remarks while we unloaded our U-haul truck into our U-haul storage unit. When I asked the desk clerk if there was a routine security patrol. He remarked that U-haul was not responsible for how people behaved and went on to say they had cameras and alarms to protect the units. Clearly this clerk was more concerned with property damage than customer safety. Things in a unit,are, after all, just things. It seemed to eluded him that there is a customer safety issue here. The clerk was cold and devoid of empathy, or simply obtuse, maybe all those things. Either way the point being a routine security patrol doesn't cost much and would deter the loitering and vagrants from hanging about U-haul grounds. Maybe you could teach some manners, empathy and perhaps constructive thought patterns to the desk clerk, doesn't think much about customer safety.

I am nervous about my belongings being damaged. If there was even mesh on top I would feel slightly better, but the metal grid on top with massive square openings makes me think that creature friends will make their way into my unit. If that was resolved, I would happily and confidently suggest the storage units to anyone.
