I have had seven spinal surgeries in the past 1.5 years and I have difficulty lifting boxes. i can lift small boxes. i needed the movers to help me move down my apt stairs. i am lucky you have the push carts to help me move my stuff from the van i rented into the locker. i still have physical issues. however, how your facility is set up with the garage doors and everything made my move so much better. the staff & management are wonderful at the Jersey City NJ location. it was a great experience. again, thank you so much!!

Guimarie AbreuIt took forever to pickup the rental. Counter personnel were disorganized and seem to lack any sense of urgency when it comes to servicing customers. Upon return, I was also charged for fuel even though I put gas in it down the street before returning it. I have the receipt. I tried to let the counter personnel know of the fuel meter malfunction and was quickly ignored.

He wouldn’t let me park my car for 3 hours in their very large lot and made me walk half a mile each way, twice, in the snow along a busy highway to find parking for my car when other people were clearly parking at the facility. It ruined my sneakers. It was a total safety hazard. I almost slipped and fell. I had to park in a sketchy area. Wrong. Please replace my sneakers!

Richard RamosI reserved a 10 ft truck in Bayonne for an in town move. Only 9 block distance between moves. On the morning of the move I received a phone call that the truck was not available in Bayonne and that I had to pick up a truck in Jersey City. The change in reservation resulted in approximately 18 miles. This was unfair to me to be charge extra $1.99 per mile. I am a 69 year old woman with limited resources. The clerk in Jersey City was very pleasant but could not make any adjustments in the charges. Please take the extra miles into consideration and adjust my bill. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Rafeal TorresI was disappointed in turn in process. It was late Sunday night turn in. I did not take pics as it was late. I had truck for 4 hours and was charged twice for CDW and a 2nd day. They ultimately credited but had to argue for credit. They credit for $45- which I have not seen yet.
michael sullivanThe location is very hard to get to and navigate to using google maps and fighting heavy traffic. Otherwise, the personnel were extremely helpful and friendly and the check in process was fast, courteous, and easy.
Terry EngelThe truck was out of alignment. It was easy to oversteer as tires on front wee not good. This made the drive extremely hard especially with load in the back.
IAN RUDDOCKI purchased a hitch in the summer of 2021 at which time this location also installed the electrical connection for the rear trailer lights. I rented a trailer once, maybe twice since the installation but the trailer lights no longer work and are no longer under warranty. Service manager vaguely said the wires are worn out and old and need to be replaced. I explained they were barely used and were not old. Didn't matter, they wanted to pull out all the old wires and reinstall new ones. I went with it having no other options due to timing. Cost was another $175. At least a discount would have bought some goodwill from me.

steven kebbieThe truck was making a weird sound like something was loose underneath. The truck also is an old truck which is still was using rollup windows instead of automatic windows. Also, it didn’t have cruise control so you gotta keep your foot in the gas at all times.

Daphne Cohen | Overall ExperienceYesterday, during my move-out, we discovered that someone had tried to force their way into my storage area. The steel door hinge was severely twisted. We struggled to get the door open. Once opened, we were unable to close the door again. Luckily the U-Haul lock did not break and the thief had been thwarted. This hinge damage was significant enough that any security guard walk through should have easily detected this. I was deployed overseas since 2018 and I had not been to my facility since then, so this damage could have occurred anytime in last three years. Back in 2017, during your flood, I had other issues. UHaul cut my locks and removed and discarded two supposedly water-damaged queen-sized mattresses (without notifying us}. We only discovered this loss after doing our own inventory of the storage areas, shortly after the flood. These two mattresses had been encased in solid plastic bags, so we were surprised that there might have been water damage. But since Uhaul had discarded the mattresses and we were unable to see the damage. Although I have been a UHaul Tonnelle customer since August 2013, I would not be able to recommend the U-Haul Tonnelle facility to my friends due to these security issues.
KEVIN HIGGINS | Overall ExperienceJose Nunez is a rude manager. They took off my 2nd lock, because they recently created a one lock policy, which is no mention in my contract. Their customer service is a garbage. I tried to get to storage after hours at 10.10 p.m. (I did checkin the same day before) they did reject me, despite there were 2 more storage residents who were late as well. Storage is infested with rats, they have lack of sealing it to make rodentless. Every floor has a rat poison, so there is a chance you would have died rat inside your unit. I wish manger would be Alex Green, it was way better experience 1 year ago.

They told us that it would be ready by 7. We came back at 745 and it still was not cleared. I had to ask two people for help with getting it moved, which took another 15 minutes. - Our unit did not have a key inside, and had two rat poison traps - We were accused by a small older man of dumping trash that was already there when we arrived this morning. I said, that is not ours and he continued yelling at me and said he would go check the tapes. He checked the tapes and saw it was not us, and did not apologize. Moving is stressful enough, absolutely do not come here.

Having moved from California to the area and needing to get things unloaded into my storage unit, the unit was a bit too small and had an obstruction in it that made it smaller. The staff was totally helpful in getting me a bigger unit without any hassle. The units are clean. The only suggestion I have is making sure the loading dock area to the storage units could be cleaned. Had to walk through garbage to and place my things on it to get it out of the trailer. I booked a "15 truck for 2days and the storage following and it's been a total nightmare since. I booked online for "Immediate" Access I have not had immediate access yet. Someone has to assist me Every time the last 4 times I was there. Now I'm given a pin number to Access my unit. I first had a pin via online set up. That didn't work. I was given a card. That didn't work. The card was switched. It STILL didn't work. When I left that it was magically working. Returned yesterday and it wasn't accepted. Now I have a pin number again.. when I ask for assistance the staff are not detailed and seems they don't want to help. They are not too friendly nor are there smiles. Everyone spear angry or tired. The ONLY worker who was Awesome and Always smiling , and wear a name tag. is the maintenance worker Gwendolyn who was very helpful assisting me. I nominate her for the BEST employee. I cannot wait till I remove my belongings out of this storage I have to walk up to. It's no telling if I will have access when I arrive. I will Never use the storage online service. Ever. Nor at this facility. I will stick with the truck and motorcycle trailer as I have used in the past. This should be Free use of this storage after booking a truck for 2days and now the ongoing nightmare with this onine storage. I don't know what to expect when I return. I will be sending out a few emails after reading the fine prints this afternoon regarding this Experience. I need to know what am I paying for. And why am I still experiencing an issue which should have immediate access to. It's not being explained nor I being accommodated for this.

When I went to empty it out this time there were mouse or rat droppings everywhere! The unit smelled like rodent urine and there were urine stains every where - on the unit floor, my furniture, clothes, on boxes etc. most of my bags were torn through and rodent feces were inside the bags & boxes. I had to throw out so many of my belongings because of this! There wasn’t any food stored in my unit either. I reported this to the office and they said they would inform the supervisor and I would receive a call that same afternoon. I’m still waiting!!!

I went into the office to let them know I was having issues and all 3 employees looked so bothered because I was asking for help.. All the questions they asked were with such an attitude and my only guess is because I was there around 5:40pm and they close at 6. To my surprise, the guy at the front desk tells me that they can't find my info and that my storage was emptied out.. I was so confused and scared that I had just been robbed somehow.. I asked them how that was possible when I was still receiving invoices and paying monthly and all they said was "I don't know. You must've cancelled" I told him that even if I cancelled, I would have came back for my stuff and he just looked so unbothered by my concern. I insisted they give me access to check my storage to see for myself. When I got there, my belongings were still there LUCKILY. And when I asked for an explanation they couldn't give me one. I had to sign up AGAIN.. give my information AGAIN.. and deal with their attitude for working a few minutes longer. It would be nice to deal with staff that actually care and look like they WANT to be there. I understand mistakes happen but the way the employees handled my situation was extremely unprofessional and made me want to take my business elsewhere.

I had to get rid of a lot of my stuff due to that and cleaned every other items that didn’t have droppings on it. If you do decide to store things, use heavy duty boxes that lock and leave nothing out of boxes

Upon arrival, I found out they gave me a second floor unit with no elevator or ramp but 10 stairs. Bring a single female moving alone this made my move immensely more diffIcult. If I wasn't promised something on a first floor I would have never rented here. I have moved a lot and this was by far the most difficult. The only good thing about it was Gwendolyn. She went above and beyond to do what she could to improve the situation. She quickly offered to check for other units available (there were none), helped me carry a dolly upstairs so I'd have one on each floor, and helped me bring in my first load. Gwendolyn was very compassionate and helpful, certainly a shining star of UHaul. If possible please find a way to recognize her for her outstanding customer service.

napoleon MOLINA | Overall ExperienceThe customer experience was abysmal. From the moment I entered, the staff treated me like I was a bother. The owner Alisha was a NIGHTMARE, she had a huge attitude whenever I asked her questions, looking at me like I was an idiot for not knowing things that she considered basic. This was my first time renting a storage unit anywhere and I had no clue what to expect. More importantly, I don't work at UHAUL so I expect the staff to be polite and helpful. The person handling my order was new I guess and Alisha was training him, but was video-calling someone the entire time. When I asked that new person questions, he either ignored me or answered while walking away. He handed me a card to swipe at the front desk and did not tell me to hold onto it to access my unit, then he got an attitude with me when I didn't hold onto it. When I asked where to pull up the truck Alisha told me to drive to the end of the lot with an attitude; it turned out I needed to make a right and pull into the garage - again, I DO NOT work for UHAUL and need as much information to accomplish what I am there to do. When we get to the garage, the new staff member just watched us pull up, instead of instructing us to back into the garage - again, directions and guidance are so important. The lack of customer concern was appalling. When we got to our storage unit, it was locked so we were reassigned a new unit. When we asked for an updated contract, Alisha was yelling at us - it was an awful experience. She kept saying, "we're closed" and my husband had to insist before she finally gave us an updated contract. Mind you, had the staff been helpful and politely offered clear directions from the start, we could have gotten done much sooner. Overall all the employees treated us like everything was obvious. Some questions they didn't even have the answer to, but somehow we are supposed to know. The staff acts so recklessly with customers because they know customers trust the UHAUL brand and just need their items faithfully was stored. Alisha especially was so disappointing - her badge says "owner" but she doesn't even behave like a supervisor. The worst part is, the model she sets is what the rest of the staff emulates and it's obvious no one in this location cares about customers. But I have never felt so humiliated by an entire staff of people ever - it felt like a joke they were all in on, it was so embarrassing. UHAUL should seriously consider having someone like Alisha represent their brand as a franchisee or whatever she is.

I suppose I can't expect the staff to be fully able to take care of this problem, since mice would be hiding in other customers' units, but it was annoying. Maybe put some kind of caulk or other barrier at seams on the floor between units, to prevent the mice moving in and out that way?
