The staff here are always excellent. This and the Springfield, Virginia UHaul locations are the best I've ever experienced. The ONE reason that I am marking this "Above Average" is that they seem to be experiencing computer issues. I reserved a unit online that was a free month due to my rental, which was very clearly a first free month on your website, but it didn't show up for them. And the last time I came in for a rental they had to log in again every time they went to a particular screen. It seemed frustrating and they really shouldn't have to deal with that. Please fix their computer issues for them! They deserve better!

Also the dolly wasn’t full hook in nor were the moving bag clean or replaced. Over all the staff that gave me this van should have never let me go on the road with it. I didn’t realize until I already had the U-Haul packed because my storage is at the U-Haul place as well. I was actually gonna reach out to someone because I deff shouldn’t be charged for what I was.

tony WI requested to have my 2 U-boxes brought out of storage and made available to be loaded into a U-haul storage unit. One service tech told me they would be dropped in the loading area right outside of the storage building entrance. The next, when they were scheduled, they dropped them off in the back of the parking lot. When questioned, a different service tech informed me they could not be dropped off in front of the storage building entrance. I repeated the info I was given the day prior and he reluctantly went to “ask a favor” of his peer, saying “he can’t make any promises.” The boxes were then promptly moved and the tech on the forklift made it seem like it was no problem - if not a completely normal service. Above all, it should be made clear to me, the customer, what is possible and what isn’t. Clearly it was possible to have the boxes dropped in the more convenient location. I should not have had to insist that it be done.

The website was a nightmare to contend with when modifying my order from two to three containers. Working with Movinghelp was horrible. The price went up radically when I got a third container. For unknown reasons, for the drop-off, U-Haul unilaterally decided to move my containers miles away from my place (not the original, closer location). This cost me more money. I would not recommend this service again.
Duffy JI rented a truck for a short trip. I needed to move something from Vergennes, VT to Hyde Park, VT. The closest rental facility to Vergennes that was on the way was in North Ferrisburgh, VT. However, they didn't have the right size vehicle(s). So, I needed to rent it from Williston, VT, which was further away and added miles to the overall trip. I then wanted to return the truck to Morrsiville, VT which was the closest facility to my house in Hyde Park. However, UHaul would not let me return the truck there, but instead I had to drive it further away to Jeffersonville, VT to return it. This added even more miles. The online rental only allowed me 51 miles for the total trip. When I rented the truck in Williston I told the employee (Charlie H.) that that would not be enough miles and to add 49 miles to the trip, which he charged me for on the total bill at that time. My online quote was for $180 which included the $16 insurance. I then paid a total of $249 in Williston after I upped the miles to 100. When the contract was printed, however, Charlie H. someone subtracted miles from my original trip and I now was only allotted 32. I told him that was unacceptable but he assured me it was right in the system and that I had 100 miles for the trip and would not be charged for the additional miles up to 100. However, on dropping off the truck in Jeffersonville I was then billed an additional $68 for additional miles used. I immediately called customer service and spoke with Michael Taylor. Who, after I explained this entire situation to him, said he was sending my issue to 'management' who would contact me ASAP. That was Saturday. It is now Monday evening and I have not heard from 'management' regarding this issue and I still have been billed $317 for a trip that was originally quoted as costing $180. I am VERY displeased with the service and treatment.

David RThe service was quick and the location and selection of equipment is convenient but the trailer was very dirty. The clerk couldn’t locate the trailer at first but once he did he helped hook it up which was nice. The only real complaint is the cleanliness I would say. You couldn’t see any of the decals or stickers due to all the salt, sand, mud on the trailer.
Diana PVehicle wouldn’t start in parking lot, throwing tons of engine codes. This all happened in the U Haul parking lot, to which employees said I could just call the roadside repair person, from the parking lot. On the trip the vehicle through 10+ codes which I have taken pictures off. Vehicle was not good to go at all, needed alignment(pulled right) breaks made entire truck shimmy when applied, transmission would slip gears, clunk and caused a stall on multiple occasions on and off freeway causing huge safety concerns for me. Lights on the trailer acted up/wouldn’t work sometimes, even when plugged in correctly/securely/clean connection. Overall terrible experience, and I did not beat the crap of out the vehicle. I was very respectful with all equipment and made sure to take care of everything to the best I could.

I will definitely take my business back to Penske for longer moves, and to Home Depot and Lowe’s for simpler, in-town needs.

Kenneth WI had to travel all the way to your Williston Vermont location because my reserved trailer in Jeffersonville Vermont’s tire was flat when I went to use it. When I got to the Williston location I had to wait forever to get my trailer. Not only did I have to travel an hour and 15 minutes out of my way, I had to waste another hour and 15 minutes to bring it back because they would not let me return it locally at my original place of rental in Jeffersonville Vermont. I wasted a lot of time and money running around getting the trailer I had reserved in advance. It would be helpful to have the trailers maintained by inspecting them before your customers who are reserving them come to get them. If they had done this for me it would have saved me a lot of time and money.

Ronald DI waited 2 hours..not only were they trying someone they were having computer issues. Was there at scheduled time 10 am, finally was getting in uhaul truck to go and hook a car hauler after hooked, trailer lights were not working. They found a broken wire and fixed it. Waited another 30 minutes. I also scheduled pickup for equipment and after reservations I received a call to pick equipment up in Williston which is 70 miles away. Took all day to get truck. Truck also was not clean , someone left a bunch of food behind driver seat.
SHANE DVehicle was out of wiper fluid, which caused dangerous driving conditions during inclement weather. Also, location's proximity to the airport introduces delays in uploading pictures during initial vehicle review.

On top of all that my security card doesn't work on the card reader and the person in the office couldn't fix the issue.

One recommendation I would make is to periodically clean the moving carts as they have seen a lot of wear and tear since the facility opened. Most of them have dirt, paint, other stains on them. I know a lot of care is put into cleaning the trucks and trailers that are rented out and it takes staff time to maintain the facility, but it would be nice to see that the carts get a quick wash from time to time. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved that staff (not only over the phone, but in person), readily worked with me . Everything is efficient , clean and organized. The ease of renting a unit and a truck are “user-friendly” on-line. I cannot say enough good about this brand new U-Haul facility in Williston, Vermont.

My one complaint is that not only was bathroom was out of toilet paper, the trash inside of the bathroom was overflowing so much that it was taller than the sink and spreading out onto the floor and there was what looked like blood smeared around the sink. Because it was beyond the state of average use we when we arrived we mentioned it to one of the agents that the bathroom was out of toilet paper. We were there several hours unloading from a cross country move and saw the agents leaving for the day having not addressed the restroom at all and it got progressively worse as our day went on. In need of some serious attention, please.

It had sticky, oil-like liquid all over the floor, a coffee cup in the corner and dirt…that I had to clean out before moving things in. Other than that it’s an easy, Smooth rental experience.

I would recommend a bit more attention to detail as my name was botched once and that caused some issues with my reservations. The only reason I gave a 4 star (for OVERALL UHaul storage experience) was the online process (verification, check in) wasn't at all smooth and required me to call UHaul several times. I was always routed to the UHaul call center and found the interactions with the call center inconsistent - once I was dropped and another time was given the wrong rental unit.

I called customer service , who left a message for the manager. I also left a voicemail at the number on the access card reader. I also called the security company. I had to find a safe place for my belongings on a Sunday night, which is not easy. I still have not heard back. I called customer service again, which couldn’t reach the manager either and routed me back to the 1-800 #. Please call me back! Fred S | First ImpressionsThe facility was great and the staff were helpful, but there was only one staff member out of the three who was able to help—the general manager—as the second person I found (I walked all around the building trying to find someone to help me; three other people were also looking for help; and a line of cars went out the door) was a maintenance person and the third person was in training using the forklift. I saw one person drive away because he had been waiting for so long and no one was helping him. Once I got help, they were wonderful, but there needs to be a better system in place and communication about employees’ whereabouts to customers; otherwise, U-Haul will keep losing business like the person I spoke to who was also waiting for 20+ minutes.

We drove only 5 miles to load the truck up but then found out the new location for the family of 5 was not ready so drove back to Uhaul with a loaded truck. He told us with a truck rental the first month of storage was free and the new facilities 2nd floor was now open. We had been told before storage units were all taken. The new building is impressive in layout and the Interior spaces are designed well too. The freight elevator works well and it can hold several large pieces of furniture. Robert G | First ImpressionsReserving a storage space @ this location was a nightmare. When I called them, the calls were always redirected to a national call center. The national call center said there were no space available in the entire state of VT. I called several times trying to talk to someone @ the Williston location to see if any units might be coming available but was never able talk to someone there. The calls were always redirected to the national call center. I called the national call center again & requested the Williston location call me. I never received a call back. After trying, for several days, to reach someone @ the Williston location, I decided to call a different U-Haul location in Williston and to my surprise someone picked up. She informed me a new facility had just opened up in Williston, but I needed to talk to that facility to reserve a storage unit. She gave me their phone number and as usual I could not get through to them. I was finally able to reserve a unit by connecting with someone @ the national call center. I received an email confirming I had a unit reserved. A few days later, I got an email, from U-Haul, indicating I cancelled my reservation, which I did not! I tried, again, to reach the Williston location to let them know I planned on keeping my reservation but, as always, I couldn't reach anyone there. I was redirected to the national call center. They couldn't see that I had even reserved a unit, let alone they cancelled it. Fortunately, I was able to reserve another unit. I tried to reach Williston on my trip to VT from NC because I noticed the day I was to return the U-Haul truck was a day off. Couldn't reach them. The calls were directed to the national call center several times. I was able to get the return date corrected. I asked them when Williston location closed, they said 7 pm. We got the truck unloaded @ the Williston location around 6:30 pm. When I went to give them the truck key, the office was locked. I was told they closed @ 4 pm even though the hours posted said they close @ 7 pm. There were many other problems with renting the U-Haul truck as well. Not a good experience all around. I don't know why anyone would use U-Haul?

However I am having issues with the door closing. ***Also a big problem was that there are or were PODS placed right in front of the entrance sliding door and also they were taking up value parking spaces right in front. I except to be able to park near the door and not have pods placed there. There are only a handful of parking spots and to have pods there was not acceptable especially for what you charge for storage.
