I’d drive the trucks and make sure there is nothing wrong with them. The one I had smelled like gas/ check engine light on/ steering wheel wasn’t straight/ dog tracked down the road. At night headlights on right turn signal didn’t work

Customers should call in rather than make an appointment through the website. Evidently, this is a drop-off-only facility, and they like it dropped off at the beginning of the day. The installer was helpful and got to the vehicle as soon as I dropped it off, but the website scheduling system doesn't seem to quite sync up with the way this particular location does business.

It was a near perfect experience. To improve Uhaul could fix the rental rates. If I reserve a trailer for 3 days and pick it up at 3pm there is a full day charge. Same with returning. If I return at 9am it's a full day charge. A 3 day rental can turn into 5 days in a hurry.

I was assigned two storage units that don’t exist and spent 2 hours in the middle of my move unable on the phone with customer service.
When manager reached out eventually, 2 hours from initial contact, she assigned me. ANOTHER unit that wasn’t even on site 3110, 3109- everyone was super rude treating me like i was stupid and didn’t know how to read the map but they literally had no idea what they were doing. Many call transfers later i got into a unit. Terrible

The estimated gauge to refuel the truck estimated almost twice the gas that we used. I feel that U-Haul is taking advantage of the customer and the customer is buy U-Haul extra gas! I paid for the truck rental, mileage and the gas I used. The contract suggested that I put in 7 gallons, when I really needed to put in about 3 1/2 or 4 gallons. I think that is a sneaky way for U-Haul to get extra gas.

Keep your word when you give it. When we return the truck, we had gone 19 miles over the mileage originally stated but we had more gas in the truck then what it had when it was given to us. We were told when the truck was return, we wouldn't be charged for the mileage because it had more gas in the truck. We were charged for the mileage, but Amber gave us the refund for the mileage after we talked with customer service. They need staff that is going to get their word, plus the staff there check the truck back in with the gas in the tank being the same as when we picked up the truck. Which was not true, we got the truck with the gas being between 3/8 and 1/2 tank. We returned the truck with 3/4 gas in the tank, so they lied about how much gas was in the tank. You decide if you want to deal with this location.

I tried to register and reserve a unit online and that was incredibly frustrating. The system would not take some information and asked for other info multiple times. When I finally called the office to see what I needed to do, the staff was great. It was so easy from there on out. Jordan was very helpful on the phone and got me all squared away. When I went in to the office to finish 2 days later, Jordan was not there but the other staff were so very helpful. Got me all set up, showed me my unit and were very kind in general. My advice - skip the online! Great personal service.

This place is a joke. They have these young kids working there that think they now everything and are very disrespectful. What ever happened to customer service. I was set up on automatic payment. Come to find out their system randomly kicks you off of that option. They’re for with no one telling us we were looked out of our locker and they tried renting it to someone else. Let’s note we have 3 lockers. I would start with getting rid of the little punks that sit on their phones all day. Then fixing the software they use. There has been other issues with renting trailers from this location also. I would never recommend a u-haul location to anyone. Very disappointing.

I got emails saying my box had been delivered but it had not. Staff were confused at both ends of the process, gave little info. Nobody could tell me where the box was for three days until it was finally delivered four days late to a different center than I requested. The new centet was over 30 minutes away. Service reps at my original center acted like that never happened but I was later told that overflow was routine at that location. As a result of the mess I spent a total two hours towing it back and forth instead of 20 minutes. The delivery would have taken another month. When I explained my situation to one of the customer service reps on the phone she was unbelievably rude, condescending and raised her voice at me even though she managed to get my phone number and basic information wrong three times. Meanwhile, the service reps at all of the centers were incompetent and uncommunicative except one 20-something year old at the winona center. The whole experience was not worth the 1700 dollars I paid. Pay your employees more and fix your computer system — which by the way is still sending me emails with updates on the status of my UBOX even though I picked it up two days ago.

The web site indicated the installation may take an hour or so...turns out it took 3 hours. The installer of our new trailer hitch appears on the inexperienced side...but we all need experience...so no knocks there.
However, he did not test the installation when done...said he did not have the tools to do so. i suggested we hook up to a UHaul trailer to test the lights....they did not work. After investigation, the installer discovered the fuse box did not have a 30 amp fuse in the location marked as Towing. He did a great job finding and pointing this out. I purchased a fuse on my way home.

I had my appointment canceled on me twice, once because they put in the wrong date and the second time because they were short staffed. Neither time I was notified about. When I showed up for the second appointment they said it was a different day then my email confirming the time and date I was there. Tried to get me to come back a different day. I have rented several times from U-Haul Moving & Storage of Winona, MN. Upon arriving to rent the truck I felt unwelcomed and inconvenienced by Austin who immediately said to me, do you have a cc, if you don't have a cc then I can not rent to you. I barely slid my card into the reader. I am a professional person, I work for a large corporation and I have never encountered such rude behavior. He pointed out the existing scratches as if I was responsible for them and threating me on what would happen if there was more damage. He than told me he needed to take my picture with the truck. I complied with all his issues. That was just the beginning of my terrible experience. It clearly states on the Uhaul website that your pickup trucks can be used for towing: "Pickup trucks aren’t just for moving, use our pickup truck to tow your boat to the lake, or tow your personal vehicle or motorcycle to the mechanic". So after driving your pickup truck for 2 hours, backing up to attach I find that the hitch pin is locked. I didn't need to rent a ball and I double checked to make sure there was a hitch. I just didn't look far enough under to notice the pin. I was in a panic, I had just driven 2 hrs. Stopped at your Burnsville location, they did their best to try and help me. I called back to Winona only to hear Austin screaming at me that their trucks are not for towing and if I don't bring the truck back or if I remove the pin I will be charged fines of over $1,000 and possible legal fees. I stated that I rented a truck from Winona location before and towed with no issues. He proceeded to tell me I was lying and that not in his territory is a truck allowed to tow.
I wanted solutions, and he had zero except to scream at me. The gentleman at Burnsville location was ready to unlock the pin and let me get on with my day. But his key didn't work and I didn't want to get him in trouble. So instead drove over 2 hrs back to Winona, 2 hours back to Burnsville, and 2 hours back home. I had to drive 8 hours instead of the 4 hours to pick up a small trailer, wasting an entire day. Not to mention the amount of stress this caused me. I will also be using the contact form to figure out why this is acceptable on Uhaul National's end.

Urinal was out of order for 6 weeks when I went in to complain I was told maintenance man has multiple buildings to service. A urinal was a low priority. When I left four months later it was still broke! Really poor customer service. I went into my commitment with u-haul a big fan. Not so much anymore. Did like your janitor though. I told the managment i was done with their storage gave them my keys and yet they still charged me causing me to not be able to pay other bills and overdrafting my account and have still yet to refund the payment that they took out of my account. They would lock the doors to the garage at 6 pm when they didnt close them untill 7 pm i got locked in the garage one night untill 645 with my stuff had to call the office 3 times before they unlocked the door.

If wheeling items in and out from the car bay everything was fine, however the ground was incredibly bumpy going through the main unloading doors if parked outside the building. Chunks of concrete/tile are missing near the doors and it causes the carts to jerk quite a bit, I had things fall off more than once.
Would be great if the units were accessible 24/7 but I understand why staffing concerns make this unrealistic.
Other than the flooring near the door this is a great location. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facility is well lit, secure, and clean.

The people that were working on Sunday morning 8/14/22 were absolutely wonderful! They were super friendly, so helpful and the facility is beautiful! Way better than I thought storage could be. I can rest easily knowing that my stuff is safe at U-haul.

There was a box of poison in my unit. When I went to the people at the counter, one young man was eager to help and walked with me to my unit. One young woman said that she was happy he was going to help because she didn't want to get up.

Special thanks to Amber for her extraordinary customer service. She is definitely the kind of manager/employee I would love to have as a first contact representing my company! Moving can be so stressful and especially when moving 1000 miles to a new home, new job, new schools etc. Usually by the time you make it to the end of the trip and have to unload, the anxiety and fatigue, stress and all the problems along the way have peaked. Amber took the time and energy to get us set up with only a couple of days notice. What a relief. She returned our calls promptly and followed up on everything until the day we were able to move to our new home!
Thanks Amber for providing a much needed bright spot in such a tough experience. Did I say I’m never moving across country again?????? 3 dogs, a cat and 2 teenagers.😱

Initially, my move in experience was frustrating due to dim lights after store hours and trouble with the security system. After discussion with the manager, I understand this facility is working to improve the lighting after store hours. I found the manager kind, helpful, and professional. My unit was ready to go when I arrived. The facility was very clean and plenty of flatbed carts were available. I recommend this newer facility which I expect will only continue to improve.
