Overall the 8 mile location (btw Sfld & Even Rds) was ok. I didn't like that I wasn't notified about the last monthly cost increase. It's not up to the customer to ask if there's another increase looming or be shocked by the new amount that's suddenly owed. There was nothing new to justify two increases in two years for a storage unit. I saw evidence of rodent activity in my unit however nothing appeared to have gotten into my furniture or clothing. The hallway floors, bathroom, etc was typically clean. It would be a nice idea to clear the icey snow out of the driveway to allow customers easier departure in the already narrow driveway. Employees truly should move out of the way around the storage units while cleaning the U-haul trucks. I've waited about three different times for employees to move because they blocked the exit while they cleaned the trucks and even while one talked on the phone

When I arrived I waited 10 minutes for someone to show up to the counter, then I was given the wrong truck that didn’t match the paperwork I was handed, and the trick I got smelled terrible from cigarette smoke, the windshield was extremely dirty and difficult to see out of, and the engine made a squealing noise.

I made a reservation online when I got to the store the man had to take my information again. Including taking a picture of my license…… again. Which was as time consuming as it was when I made the reservation a week ahead of time. The price was $5 more than the estimate I got when I made my reservation but I didn’t have time to argue about $5. I’m glad I chose to pick up during business hours.

Hello, I believe the gas gage to broken, I put gas in it and by the time, I arrive at the Uhaul the gas look like I didn’t put any gas in it, I have picture of mileage before and after to make sure I am been charge .99. No dolly or protected blanket or cover. I have to go to Home Depot and rent a dolly, $25.00 until 9:00am return. This location is to dark and small, need a good place to return the rental. Overall, thank you.

I had a great experience the only thing I would change is the entry keypad are too far away or not level 🎚️ enough or stick out far enough. I have to literally get out my car in order to reach it and swipe my card which is inconvenient and annoying.

The truck was very clean and drove as expected. The staff was friendly and made up for the two inconveniences that I experienced. First, there is only two non-handicapped parking spaces. I came alone and meant to leave my car for three hours only to find that was not allowed. All other U-Haul locations I have used have ample parking. I had to have my son come and pick me up to take my car to some other legal parking spot a mile away. The second was the fact that the truck was not full of gas. I was told to return it with the same 3/8 of a tank level; but how do you do that with an old-style gauge? I either had to put extra gas in it to make sure I was slightly above where I received it, or risk that a perceived underfill would cost me a fee of over $5/gallon. I drove it 13 miles and put over $7 in gas to make sure the needle showed correct depending on the arbitrary angle of the person checking it in. I am not suggesting that person would purposely screw me; but the needle can read differently from just a small angle difference. Seems to me taking it full and returning it full would be much more precise on fuel usage like I always do with rental cars.

The manager and workers are very sweet and kind. That was the only good thing. They were gentleman and kept me from losing my mind. They all deserve raises but UHAUL COPORATE you need a reality check. First off the address for this location takes you to FARMINGTON. You are a million dollar company and you are telling me you can't have accurate GPS maps? That was an 1hr of my day realizing there wasn't in fact a uhaul and trying to find out where my location really was. When I got there I had planned a mobile checkin but because of the design of the location that wasn't possible (even though your website when I booked told me it was) so that increased my anxiety. When I got to my destination to pick up HEAVY furniture I discovered that my truck didn't have a ramp built into it so I was forced to lift the furniture myself and hurt myself. Your website sucks/your app is even worse. I've used you 3 times in the last month and I would rate my visits: 1) 7/10, 2) 5/10, 3) 2/10

As more parking spaces away from the gate. Because someone else parked there return across multiple spots, it prevented me from being able to park in a spot where the cameras could capture my return, causing me to be charged $20 for blocking the gate entrance. I'll just park across the flowers next time I return my rental.

The staff Lashaun has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. She looks down on customers and several times she has spoken to me horribly as well I have witnessed her on multiple occasions do the same to other customers. Almost every time I have been in there she is getting into with a customer. She had her son working there and was talking to him in front of customers so bad he walked out. I reported this to management as well as corporate multiple times and nothing has been done. I was forced to deal with her and pay my money as a customer to be treated like crap. She is allowed to have an "emotional support dog " in the lobby whom runs up on you. There is zero professionalism and she acts like you are bothering her with any questions. My storage unit was broken into and it was infested with mice! They were literally running out mid day while I was moving my belongings out. I will NEVER step foot in this place again and will be posting this same review on every platform I can.

I received a call at 6:00 pm, the evening before my pickup, informing me that I would not be able to leave my vehicle, as there is no parking. I am sure the person who called me at 6pm was aware that it would be too late to cancel and reschedule elsewhere and believe me I tried! Upon arrival, my brother and I were kindly greeted by Mr. August Miller. We chatted and laughed as he checked me in and delivered the vehicle. The fact that we had to get an Uber there and back home, somehow seemed unimportant after my interactions with Mr. Miller. He is a wonderful and kind man. After a long and difficult check in process, the truck I was provided was poorly maintained and below Uhaul standards for gas. I returned the truck with the same gas level I was provided, and charged for the difference. So not only did I have to pay for the gas I used, I had to pay extra to give Uhaul more gas than they provided in the first place. Disappointing experience all around, unfortunate to have to leave a negative review for what should have been a simple rental experience.

I would suggest that the rentee is fully familiar with the mechanics of the trucks before driving off the property. Meaning that the employers should be able to tell the rentee where parts are in the truck if asked. Overall this is a good professional place to rent vehicles.

Due to the recent storms they had no access to their phones, internet or the uhaul app and I had 2 reservations with this location; HOWEVER, despite some customers outbursts, they were AWESOME, RESOURCEFUL & EMPATHETIC with EVERYONE! I had a reservation for 9am. At 9:06 am, I was let into the facility to receive my rental. There was no ramp on the truck.overall my experience could have been better. If I return the rental late, you all charge a fee, however when you open your facility late making me late for my own business, there's no compensation for the customer. Why?

I had a great experience when I picked up my truck. The woman who helped me was very pleasant. I got my truck on July 30, 2023 at approximately 2:53pm. I brought the truck back at 4:58pm. A bit over 2 hours not two day. I gave a gentleman the keys and I left. Next day I get a receipt charging me for a 2 day rental and stating I turned in the truck on July 31, 2023 at 8:31am. I called and a gentleman helped me and he reversed the charge and told me what the total should have been which was close to what I was quoted when I picked up the truck. I just looked at my bank statement and my card had been charged three times and has caused my account to be negative with overdraft charges. LaShata was a dream to work with! Made everything about the UHaul experience amazing. She was very helpful when my phone was not cooperating while taking a live photo. I came in dressed in beat up, moving clothes but she treated me with respect and she is the reason I will use UHaul again in the future. Give this woman a raise!

The Staff is top-notch. Ashley helped and guided me from the moment I arrived until I signed the contract. Her assistance was professional, concise and extremely knowledgeable. On my departure I was assisted by Latosha (I believe that was her name). Uhaul staff at this Uhaul center on 8 Mile were first-rate: kind, thoughtful, helpful, and professional. However, I cannot say the same for one staff member at the Uhaul center at 19797 Livernois in Detroit--where I originally went for my storage needs. Don't know the guy's name but he was stocky with short dreadlocks. Rude, unhelpful, and non-responsive--it was hard to coax the gentleman to say anything at all. Worst customer service I've encountered in a long time.

I did the online checking and when I was going through the checkout process I noticed that the van's fuel was almost on empty. And received a message that if the vehicle was returned with less than a 1/4 tank of gas, I would be charged $30 extra. I went back into the office and spoke to DJ, and told him about the situation. He nonchalantly told me that was the fuel level the previous customer turned the van in with. He said I could put some fuel in it, and I would be reimbursed. My issue with this situation is the fact that UHaul would rent a vehicle with an almost empty gas tank. Having to stop for gas cuts into my move time, even if UHaul reimburses me. Does this seem acceptable ? To rent a vehicle that has an almost empty gas tank ? (I can send you a picture)

Sincere genuine heartfelt gratitude appreciation and much thanksgiving for Ashley Carson greeted me with a SMI😃LE coupled with a WARM RECEPTIVE PROFESSIONAL ATTENTIVE EXPEDIENT CONSIDERATE and RESPONSIVE MINDSET towards me and my initial storage needs; and she has remained PROFESSIONALLY CONSISTENT! Even during my initial visit when my oldest daughter had to transact my initially established contractual financial storage payment and account with my credit card without any issues! Ashley walked up to the passenger side where I sat in my daughter's vehicle with a diagnosis of long-term Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) coupled with a diagnosis of EDEMA. I could barely breathe or walk due to EDEMA and shortness of breath. But on my April 14th 2O21 I walked in the Uhaul storage office😅approached my storage office manager Ashley Carson 2 have my locked removed b/c I unintentionally lost my key through her OTP recommended👌 LO🔐CK SMITH Mr. Williams and independent of my oldest daughter, myself and my UHAUL storage manager managed😅my storage account need!😅 😊Thanks Southfield, MI UHAUL storage and my most appreciated personal storage manager Ashley Carson!!!🙏

My only issue that I had was the door was hard to open. It was rusty and very stiff and I had a hard time opening it on several occasions. After hours of frustration trying to reserve a vehicle, we were not very hopeful that we'd have a pleasant experience when we arrived. The only disappointment was the missing moving supplies. Online I ordered a dolly when I arrived at the facility I was told they were out of the Dolly I ordered but I could upgrade to the $10 Dolly. I did the upgrade only to find the wheels were busted and its been difficult getting a refund.

I just had to remind them not to charge me for a $20 dollar fee and I told and they said they forgot and I told manager wavid it. However I move out in my grace period and they was about charge a new mothly storage and I has give friendly reminders. I move out already so I not going to pay for service I'm not getting and I ask for a email receipt this time and I would not take no until I got one. I'm like that with every one I don't want no mistakes Bill's that not mine to effects me later if I want to rent again to haunt my pockets. And I video and took photos I was clean and it documentary the time. And I check out with manager I am no longer with me John king franchise manager there I left clean out .apr 7 was rent due I move out April 9 2020 in grace period so I good but check you emails because April 11 I was email talking about I owe 20 late and I call and he said he for who I was and want due rent of 60 and together that would of be 80 and that was unfair i told hello really i am Martinez you even told me my name before...I'm good I am aggressive nature i clear it to my satisfaction.
