Initially wanted to rent a truck but canceled when i learnt the crazy amount of extra hidden fees so just rented a dolly and got a truck elsewhere. I can appreciate when a staff member is working with a customer. But when he is told that he has someone else waiting, he does not need to take time to park the previous truck, then start to wash it all while someone is wait (I was waiting). It took another staff member to take the hose away and tell him to serve me. I was also surprise to see that I was charged more than the estimate given to me. I gave 1400km as an estimate traveled, but I had done 1277km. The person I was talking to was not much help.ERIK M.

Bonjour, Vous avez du culot de me demander ça. Voici ce qui s'est produit et je veux que ce soit remonté à votre manager. En deux mots : terriblement décevante. Vous avez des actions à prendre. LA SITUATION * J'ai appelé à 17h pour aviser de mon retard et voir si je pouvais avoir la clé pour l'espace d'entreposage gratuit que j'avais loué, on m'informe que ce sera fermé, de faire la réservation en ligne et de payer. Jean-Marc, à qui j'ai parlé, m'assure que ma réservation me sera remboursée le lendemain. * J'arrive sur les lieux, les deux employés toujours présent à l'extérieur répondent uniquement à mes questions par "c'est fermé, Jean-Marc fait dire que c'est fermé". * J'insiste pour avoir une réponse plus détaillée au moins minimale sur comment accéder à l'entrepôt ou d'aller chercher Jean-Marc puisque je lui ai déjà parlé : l'employé va dans le commerce et ne sort plus. * J'entre dans le commerce par la porte de garage ouverte et débarrée, le troisième employé qui était toujours présent (Jean-Marc) m'accueille par "C'est fermé, you're trespassing" Je lui explique que j'ai bien compris et je veux juste savoir où entré pour l'entreposage, il insiste et répète sans répondre "you're trespassing on est fermé" J'ai beau voir dépensé 400$ chez U-Haul aujourd'hui, le manager, Jean-Marc a eu le culot d'ajouter "si on était pas là t'aurais dû t'arrranger. Fait comme si on était pas là" plutôt que de prendre le 30 secondes pour m'expliquer la marche à suivre et me donner une expérience wow. * J'accède finalement à l'entrepôt par le côté, j'essaie de réserver en ligne pendant 30 minutes. Je fini par réussir à réserver un entrepôt en ligne non sans problèmes. * L'entrepôt que j'ai pu louer s'avère plus petit que celui que j'avais réservé et chaque fois qu'on ouvre la porte, l'alarme sonne. J'ai encore de l'acouphène dû à l'alarme. Le Call-Center à qui j'ai parlé ne pouvait pas m'aider par rapport à l'alarme. * L'application ne m'as jamais permis de faire le drop off du camion en self-service. J'ai pourtant essayé au moins 3 fois impossible. * Je n'ai pas eu le remboursement du dépôt que vous m'avez chargé puisque je payais par débit le camion. DE CES FAITS 1) Je veux le remboursement intégral du dépôt qui m'a été chargé sur ma débit à Québec pour le camion. 2) Le remboursement intégral de mon espace de location loué à défaut d'avoir accès à celui gratuitement offert avec le camion. 3) Ne pas être chargé pour le drop off de la clé sans l'application, ça ne marchait pas. 4) La location d'un camion U-Haul à vos frais pour me permettre de déplacer les meubles que j'ai dû ramener à mon point de départ dans le CX-5 de mon helper. (il ne sera plus disponible et la dimension de l'espace de stockage choisi aurait permis normalement de les accueillir sans problèmes.) 5) Des excuses formelles pour le dérangement avec votre boss en CC de ce courriel. I was obligated to go to three different uhaul locations before I found the location that had my reservation. No one from uhaul ever informed me of these changes. I then had to take an uber across town to the location that my truck was located. This costed my nearly $50 out of my own pocket and I was over an hour late with beginning my move. The tenants moving into my apartment were then forced to wait an extra hour for me to vacate. This is TERRIBLE service and professionalism on your part. I was never informed of the location of my uhaul reservation. All of my emails showed different locations. In the future, I will consider other options for moving and I will recommend to friends that they consider other options besides uhaul. However, if you would be kind enough to reimburse me of the uber cost than I would gladly put this behind me and reverse me very negative impression of your company and would recommend uhaul to friends. Many hours on the phone trying to speak to someone to help me with the pickup from Laval. then many hours on the phone trying to get hold of someone who can confirm delivery. Mixed updates. very stressful. unorganized. many transfers to a different person every time I get hold of someone on the phone. waiting for ever on line to chat with someone and then they said they can not help me here is another phone number go call them. 1) Initially when I booked the Uhaul I rented a 10 feet truck and chose the rental location that was close to my place and the time selected was 11:00 am. The day before the pick up I saw that the pick up time was changed to 3:30 pm instead of 11:00 am and I wasn't informed. 2) I called customer service and a representative name Travis assisted me. I shared my concern that 3:30 would be too late as another tenant has to move in the the apartment. Travis changed the time according to my request to 10:00 am but he failed to inform me that the location got changed and the truck size increased. As a customer I could have been informed by him that changing the time changes the location and the truck size. 3) The new location was very far from the initial location I had selected and very far from my house as well. I had to take an Uber ride their as it took a long time to reach the location via public transport. 4) I called customer service 3 times, and the scheduling department 2 times (didn't pick up during office hours) 5) As the truck size increased, the pick up location was also unable to swap the vehicle size for me. As a result, the 15 foot truck obviously needed more fuel than a 10 feet truck and I had to pay more than I had budget. Overall, although the 15 foot truck got the job done, I very disappointed with the service and client interactions. I hope some or all the points mentioned above can be addressed and I can be compensated for the extra fuel cost that I did not initially opt-in for. All emails and communications including my contract were in French even though I cannot read French. The staff was incredibly rude including the manager. I reserved my truck for 4 hours and was only given 3.15 hours because the staff was running behind. When I insisted that my drop off time be moved to accommodate the 4 hours I had reserved I was told that they would not rent to me rather than extend my time and I could â€œtake it or leave itâ€. I understand July 1st is a hectic time however this is no reason to be rude to customers. I am sympathetic to the fact that things took a long time as there was a long line, however the length of my reservation should not have been altered due to their understaffing issues. I was overcharged for the trailer I rented, I originally reserved a 6X12 trailer but after the contract was printed the rep came out and said my vehicle could not pull that trailer so he gave me a 5X8 trailer instead but did not change the rental cost ;-( Also the trailer they gave me was filthy and I had to clean all the brown sand out of it with a broom and mop it out, Trailers and equipment are supposed to be clean but not in my case. Also I asked to return the trailer closer to where I was moving too but after calling in to haul when I completed my move in Mercier Que they informed me I had to return it back to Lachine Que in traffic both ways. When I returned the trailer I asked to have the partial refund for the equipment and also mentioned again that the trailer was filthy when I picked it up and the rep didn't really care and said he could not do anything and mentioned the location manager was off on June.23, 2021 I'm not very please and that's the reason with the very poor review period. Don't get me wrong, the staff were great. But I reserved equipment months in advance and Uhaul gave me the run around when it came time to pick it up: switched the pick-up location to a very distant one, and gave me a different, larger truck that consumed much more fuel than I wanted with only 24 hours notice. When I protested over the phone I was told "take it or leave it." My move costed me a lot more money as a result and I am displeased.Maximillion S.

Hello, I arrived at 08:50 on Sunday 20 June 2021 to pick up my Cargo Van and to rent a storage unit, my appointment was at 09:00. There was a huge line up outside and by the time I received my cargo van and storage unit it was 10:45. I spent over 1 1/2 hours at Uhaul. The employees were understaffed but maintained a positive attitude. There seemed to be only three employees working that day. When I left, there was still a hug line inside and outside. Using employees personal phones to take pictures of photo ID is a bad way to gather data and makes me very uncomfortable. Please invest in a 30$ camera with a direct link to the system. I will not be using U Haul Budget will be my personl choice. The $20 surcharge on a Sunday after 9:00 P.M. when i returned the truck at 9:30 P.M. is not justified. The location is closed at 5:00 P.M. and the customer is required to do the administrative work for U Haul . I paid too much for the 5 Hour rental. Not satisfied at all. The truck was in bad shape, the steering was very loose and the truck had 70,000 Miles, i suspect poor maintenance. You can contact me if you want at my e-mail address for more feedback. Not satisfied and will not recommend U Haul to many of my friends. I called customer service for these specific problems and was told to wait for 10 to 15 Minutes and someone will answer me, waited for more than 20 Minutes no one replyed. Hanged up....!ANDREW S.

- waited in line over 2 hours to pick up reserved truck - the equipment we reserved was no longer by the time we got to the counter, so we had to rent smaller alternatives - once we finally got our key, we had to get the truck from somewhere deep in the truck parking. Not a problem per se, except the fact that it was surrounded by other trucks and could not be taken out - rented equipment was not in the truck as indicated, so we had to drive back to get itMartin V.

Service was terrible! I made a reservation almost one month in advance and when I arrived there they didn't have all the items that I had requested available. I was told to go to a different uhaul and when I got there they didn't have the item as well. I lost a lot of time going to a different store and was not able to keep the truck for longer. It was a terrible experience, wouldn't recommend. It was very frustrating and disappointing, I wasn't offered anything to make up for all that trouble of not having an appliance dolly or having to go to another store.MICHAEL S.

I first reserve my sotrage a month an haft ago. I called to confirm that I ca ntake possession to be told that there was no reservation to my name. I rushed to the U-Haul because there were only a few lockers left. When I got there, the employee handed me a keycard to remoove the alarm on my storage. Drive to the storage and the key does not work... all my stuff were already taken out of the car... nobody on site to help... so i decided to open with the alarm on. After I drive back to the front desk and they were not able to give me a working card... I have to come back another time.... Hello Jean Marc. First thank you for this experience with your storage . As you can see for over 6 months or more my experience with your lachine storage and trucks was excellent. I had to close my company and to move and also sold my house ,so there was lots of moving.You personally (I hope you remember me) me helped me and your staff as well. I paid late,(2 weeks) definitely my fault, however the system that you have in place is extreme and agressive, borderline harassment. 3 emails, 3 letters to my house and 2 letters to my emergency contact ( which I felt to be a violation of privacy) My storage locker blocked. I went to pay it during my break at work, and when I went back about a week later to get something the lock was still on. I had to go back to the office and ask them to remove it. They had to check the file to ensue I wasn’t lying, then I waited 15 minutes for them to come. The guy that came was nice, but was not wearing a face mask. The actual move in experience was terrible. We had booked and paid in advance and arrived with our movers and they had to wait about 1 full hour while the reception re entered everything into the system, which was so slow, and cost us over $150 in moving costs due to the length of time it took to receive the keys. This is very refreshing compared to the last storage facility I used (not U-haul) where the staff seemed like they did not care at all and would prefer if people would just leave them alone. We had our belongings in this storage for almost 2 years. All went well until our departure from the unit. When clearing our belongings, unfortunately we discovered some items that were eaten/ruined by mice. Our couch had holes in it from mice and was covered in droppings (it was covered by plastic but they chewed through that as well). The U-Haul staff reassured us right away that we would get reimbursed for this. However, to this day, we have received no response or follow-up on our claim for reimbursement. We will likely have to continue pressing the issue in order to get any resolution, which is very disappointing. We paid over $5K in our time of having our belongings in storage - the least they could do is make sure we receive appropriate compensation for ruining important furniture.julien r. | Overall Experience

Hi , overall was okay. I tried to change the per authorization date. When I called , the agent said to go ask the store. I drive to the store they say we cannot it’s impossible. With tax it was suppose to be 120$. Because of the faulty pre auth I paid 135$-150$ mostly. In 2020, I am so baffled that we are not able to change a date : /. But to me it was just a scam to charge more. And that’s why my rating is much lower. Hello, My main concern with the lack of answers for phone calls from Lachine. They have NEVER picked up the phone, it always went back to central. PLUS, central does not give accurate information. And / or the information does not get relayed to Lachine. I had lost the keys to the storage lock, I called and called to speak to Lachine, once again, they didn't pick up. Central lady said that each location was equipped with the tools to break the lock - which turns out (as I had a team of 3 movers on the clock, just waiting) they did not, and mentioned it was against UHaul policy. I had to call for an emergency service, which cost me $275, for a locksmith to come and break the lock. I am extremely disappointed with UHaul in this regard.magali G. | Overall Experience
The only reason i don't give a 5 stars is because the waiting time to get service is really, really aweful. I waited 45-50 mins in line just to get service even though i and a reservation. I understand doing contracts with people takes time but being understaff in a month like this, i mean it is moving festival now. All i wanted to do is get my moving done. I had rented a storage in Montreal Centre Ville at first, I had made the reservation on site. Then I made a change of date by callin U-Haul. When I went to rent the storage, they said the modification can't be made by phone (?????) and that there was no storage unit that I had reserved, when I had done it on site at first !!! The person didn't try to help me... I had to go to Lachine to find a storage unit. At Lachine, the woman that took my order was very bad at being polite and being professional. I have had booked, for 1 April, a storage in an other facility (Cite 2000 Montreal) and no one called me to tell me to come and take possession of the storage unit. I left my credit card info, my phone number and my adress, as requested. With all these infos, I understood that someone From u-haul would call me as soon as they have an available unit. But it appears no one called. When I presented myself to the office, I faced a young man that did not care at all about my case and just repeated like a parrot : we do not have unit left sir, it works like this in u haul. Without even trying to understand my situation, not listening and not proposing any solution. He clearly did not care and is not suit for working in customer service. The one big negative to our experience was the difficulty getting information on how to cancel our contract. I called customer service and was told I had to go to the warehouse. Drove 20 minutes to the warehouse and was told take a picture and come back when the locker is empty. Drove home another 20 minutes. Went back after the locker was empty (20 minute drive) to learn that the account had been closed by one of the employees. In all, 1 hour and 20 minutes of unnecessary driving.
