An improvement can be made for the c Truck return process. When I was attempting to use the unqualified website/application to return the rental, the application would not recognize my location. I have an IOS phone, and the instructions provided to use the location finder were not accurate. I am not sure why uhaul would need to know the location on an app before a truck is returned? The truck is already associated/assigned to a location and if a customer takes it to another location it is no assigned to in the system should be an alert to the system to for additional charges. How do customers without cellphones complete an after hours drop at all with being charged extra!???TARIS TURRELL H.

The Lombardy location is my preferred site in the whole Richmond city area no matter what side of town I live on. I haven't had a problem with any experience over the years as a customer. The front desk lady and the guy who helped hook-up the trailer (possibly named Jason?) to our truck both did not understand how the braking system worked for the trailer and therefore could not answer our questions. The lady especially was snippy with us when we asked the questions, like we were bothering her. My brother and I were able to figure out the braking system ourselves without their help. The lot is not condusive for easy hook-up and drop-off. The trailer itself was fine - no issues. It should be made more obvious that there is online self-checkout.Bryan S.

If you are giving someone a truck with a quarter tank in gas, you should stress that. In fact, you should offer (for a price, if necessary) your trucks with full tanks. It is not user friendly to get into a truck that is running on fumesJAMESALFRED JONE T.
The trailer was hooked up wrong and the trailer rims was damaged one of the tires had a slice cut in it and had to have roadside service to come change it plus when we opened the trailer it had dirt and leaves in it so my wife had to sweep out before we could load anything into it. I rented a truck that smell like smoke. that had a sandwich page with some born/ green stuff in it. As a was driving it begin to to rain.well that mean windshield I most use. Well they didn't WORK they went back and forth but it didn't help to remove the rain.had to pull over more than 5x coming back to Richmond,VA from Chesapeake Virginia. Then the customers service at this Uhaul VCU is offer. They needed to be retrain as well relocated. Uhaul y'all messed up for some stuff you do. I had a RESERVATION at the LOMBARDY location that was somehow changed without ANYONE TELLING ME to a location 4 miles away. Mind you I had ubered to the first location so I was stranded. Luckily an angel at the lombardy location helped me out and was able to arrange a van for me. Improve the app to actually allow pictures to be taken so that I don't get charged for miles that I didn't drive. I had to pay for 15 additional miles because when picking up it would not allow me to dispute the stated miles. I was quoted at $190.00 for the trip by U-haul's website, which was then confirmed over the phone with the Pickup locations representative. Upon my arrival charged $212.00. when I expressed my concern with the > 10% price hike, I was assured that I would receive a partial refund when I returned the U-Haul later that day, as I was paying for a two-day rental but would only need it for one. I did not receive any such refund upon my arrival, and it was explained to me at the drop off location that my pickup location had mislead me to believe I would be refunded anything for my one way rental. I understand they may not have been responsible for the billing error or misrepresentation of information, but the attendants at the drop-off location could have offered anything at all to rectify the scenario. I'm extremely disappointed in the disingenuous treatment and sales tactics used during this whole experience.MICHAELJOSEPH B.

Good facility for storage, but the staff are incredibly unprofessional. We are trying to isolate due to COVID and were promised that someone would help us check in from the parking lot. Instead we were met with staff members who were obviously high and didn't pay attention to our request at all. Tried explaining over the phone that we had an immunocompromised family member in the car who couldn't be exposed, but the person we spoke to was barely listening and didn't care at all. When we tried to flag down someone in the parking lot, they kept sticking their head in our car without a mask and were also obviously high. Because no one would listen, we had to go inside where staff were unfriendly and half weren't wearing masks. To top it all off, while we were unloading our truck, staff members were blatantly smoking weed in the parking lot. The communication about when we could access our unit was extremely unclear, and we received contradictory information from the website, emails, and on the phone with different agents. We arrived at 9pm after a long day of moving believing we could access our unit until 10pm. We found out we could only access it until 7pm (even though our reservation stated access hours were until 10pm). We were told to come back the next morning at 9am. When we arrived at 9am the next morning, the manager was late and so we still couldn't access our unit until 9:20 am. We had returned a vehicle transport the first night we arrived, checked it in and notified staff, but then 5 days later we got a call asking where it was. Unorganized to get truck keys. People who were last in line were first to get truck keys. It was a free for all. Should provide truck keys to those first in line or radio out to let truck employee know you are coming. Instead once ppl where done at counter they would bombard a truck employee for keys and no order to who was first. Lost a lot of time on my rental and day because of the disorganization on the lot. We only needed to store stuff for a short term. So the space was fine for what we needed. It is not so easy to load/unload in the area our unit was in. It was very crowded the morning we were loading from the unit. The area in the back parking lot was much less crowded, and if given a choice again I would choose something back there. The main issue was that we reserved a specific type of unit-main floor, no steps, a week in advance. We had limited helpers to move our stuff and my husband has back issues already. So I opted to pay extra for a first floor unit. When he arrived to get the unit he was told we had a walk up, because it is first come first serve. Which it does not state anywhere that that is the policy. Or we would have gone to the unit first to secure it, then to the apartment to load up. Why allow reservations if someone can come and take my unit? The staff was helpful, for what we needed them for, considering how busy they were. I had no issues with the building, security, or staff. Uhaul as a company needs to care for its locations with necessary upgrades, old system and equipment gave many of their employees trouble numerous times throughout my storage rental stay. An AC unit leaked into my storage space awhile back and even though I didn’t have the bogus rental insurance, i was not compensated from any of the items I threw out because of water damage.
