Just as an FYI, the initial location we were sent to in Owosso MI did not have the promised truck. When we arrived, the gentleman was rude, didn't take the initiative to contact the person who was supposed to return the truck until we suggested it, and proceeded to tell us that if we were vaccinated, that the powers that be would be tracking us via microchips. This gentleman should be fired. When we were re-routed to Lansing (the next day) , it was a much better experience.Kathleen R.
We used your app for the first time for pick up/drop off. Everything went really well, the only issue we ran into with the app was when dropping off the truck. The app would not upload the photo of the odometer for the drop off, I tried numerous times. Lucky for us the employees were still there and were able to take care of the drop off for us. There was less than 5/8th of a tank when I got in the truck. After I was given the key to the truck the attendant told me, â€œThe truck is somewhere over there.â€ That was after the other attendant, a woman, tried to hard sell me on the insurance and was very rude and insulting. Once again, two people in the office, one helping another customer, the other, which I assume to be a manager of some sort, says absolutely nothing to me nor offers to help. Continuously walking past, stocking shelves instead of helping actual customers. Went with the larger truck because I was told while making the reservation that it could ride 3 peopleâ€¦ when I picked it up it only had seats for 2â€¦ tried to address it then but employee was leaving for lunch and was clearly unable to do anything more. If you want the truck (we had an appt to pick something up) â€œsorry but it only seats twoâ€â€¦ when I dropped the truck off I AGAIN tried to address that I went with the bigger truck as I was told it seats 3 but instead we had to have someone drive separately (gas is $3/gln) as it only sat two. A couple things went wrong: I had a truck with no ventilation or air-conditioning working. Made my moving experience unpleasant on a hot 86 degree day. I did report it to an employee at the time of the rental, but he seemed dismissive and apathetic about it. He said "he would make a note of it". I also encountered a very rude employee after-hours on the evening of my return. I had problems getting my move done on time and when I returned to the location, there was an employee there putting away equipment. I told him that I could not return the truck that evening, but I would be back in the morning. His response to me was "I don't care, it's your money". I told that was not helpful to me, and he said "whatever" and walked away from me.' The next morning, when I finally returned the truck. Some how my reservation information & identification was lost or input incorrectly, On several occasions my attempt to pay my rental at the Waverly facility was met with, " I'm sorry you are not in the system", which drove me to contact the U-Haul Corp. , and pay online. When I went to cancel my storage unit, I was told by the local Waverly facility that my unit was not rented, and in fact was empty. Obviously not true , if anyone cared to check. I don't want to put blame on the employees for my experiences here, but they obviously don't like working here. Our first experience with this location should've been a head's up for us. We had just moved across the country to here and it was a complete 180 from where we picked it up vs dropping it off. They are just plain rude without reason. This last time, we were missing reserved equipment, the vehicle was a mess, and the gas wasn't the same in the vehicle vs the paperwork. I will go out of my way to not ever having to do business with this location again, and I honestly doubt they care either.Kimberly K.
Right now I think the turn over rate of equipment is high, which makes it hard to maintain the quality of your equipment. The truck we use could have used some love but it did its job and well. The initial person we met with was okay, however seemed new at their job and unsure on certain things. People didn't really seem personable or friendly. I had a few interactions that weren't super pleasant -- staff seemed distracted or uninterested in helping. When I returned the U-Haul, no one came out to assist me in the return process. When I went inside to ask for help, there were two people working -- one was helping a customer and the other was stocking shelves. The person stocking the shelves, which I believe was the manager, walked past me saying nothing and didn't offer to help. Please work on your customer service skills. Your traffic office changed my reservation and forced me to drive the truck back to Lansing instead of doing the one-way trip I wanted. The store manager and employees were not helpful at all. I ended up paying extra cost due to the extra mileage charge for a return trip to Lansing. I will likely never use UHaul again. I tried to call customer service and ended up on hold forever. We reserved a 26 ft truck. When we went to pick up, we were told it hadn't been returned and they had attempted to call but said call rejected. When they called in front of us, the call came right through. They never attempted the secondary number listed. The next available size they had was a 17 ft. Provide a trailer hitch with the uhaul pickup. I set up a reservation for both a pickup and a trailer from the same location. I got there and had to wait ( about 30 minutes) on the uhaul employees to finish chatting with some woman, then it took about 15 minutes for them to get the units pulled around. I had to buy a trailer hitch receiver and ball. Which NOONE said anything about until I was on location. ( $25 ) then they told me the truck and trailer were ready. I left only to find out that they never put the moving pads in the truck. Drove back to only to see both the worker laughing about it.Micheal F.

I used a 20' U-Haul truck to move from out of state and needed a place to put my belongings while we are waiting for our home to come available. The truck worked great, the drop-off was easy and fast, and the employees were not unkind. I wanted to get a storage unit at the same location I dropped off the truck, and the first month of storage rental was free with a truck rental. Thus, I hopped online to U-Haul's website, pulled up my order, and reserved the largest storage unit at the Waverly location in Lansing, Michigan using my free month of rent. I received a reservation confirmation for a 10' x 15' x 12' drive up storage unit. On the day of the move, when I was told I could obtain the unit, I called ahead to confirm the specific unit was still being held for me - they verified that it was. When I arrived with the full truck later that day, I was told that there were no 10' x 15' x 12' drive up storage units available. It was communicated that my reservation email from U-Haul was without value and that the best unit they could give me was a 10' x 10' x 10' unit (thus lowering the value of my free month of storage, disregarding my carful efforts to reserve and confirm a large unit, and putting me in a difficult situation for unloading my 20' U-Haul truck that day). In the end, I was able to stack my belongings into the smaller unit, with much difficulty and rendering nearly all belongings inaccessible without unpacking the entire unit.Jacob D. | First Impressions
