My reservation was changed 6 times the morning of rental ranging from locations close to me up to locations an hour away from me, with the time of pickup changing constantly. Extremely inconvenient to have planned my whole day around a certain time/location only to have it changed at the last minute (multiple times). Horrible system and horrible experience. Most of the people I spoke with however were very understanding however that does not change how hugely inconvenienced I was by your company. I will never again rent from uhaul and share my horrible experience with everyone planning to rent from this company.

Joshua is friendly and has the best customer service around! I can not say the same about another employee who asked me (female) to take the rented dolly to the side of the building, after he told a man he would do it for him - even though I was there first and behind someone else he ignored! I'll go somewhere else to rent next time because it was very rude and insulting. Poor customer service!

When I returned the uhaul with more gas in it then when I rented it (1/2 a tank vs. a 1/4) they would not reimburse me. Pretty frustrating.

I was moving my garden tractor, and there were 2 trailers sitting there with ramps, but I was given one with just a tailgate. Luckily, I had 2 boards that served as my ramp, but it would've been easier if someone had recommended a trailer with a ramp. Not a big deal, but you asked so I'm telling you. ;-)

The after hours pickup option did not work properly. I and a nother renter both had issues getting our reservations to open up to check out the vehicles. I was on the phone with customer service for over 30 minutes. I had specifically chosen this option because it was supposed to save time but ended up taking 2x as long as the in person rental the week before I did.i doubt I'll ever choose that option again.

Somehow the cargo mat in the van was greased with some dark-colored oil which made it very slippery. It was a bit dangerous and some of my furniture and boxes got stained.. I have never have this kind of problem before from your truck and van. Please clean up the grease before next customers. Thank you!

Van was delivered with the tire pressure light on. I questioned this. Employee hit all tires with a hammer to ensure they were fully inflated, which seemed unusual way to check this. He told me all was OK. I thought he should have offered another van. Also, message on the dash display indicated the TPMS system needed service. Both indicator and message stayed on during entire trip. No actual problem was sensed while using van. Upon return, the employee checking me in seemed to not be surprised that it was delivered this way, and offered explanation that van was really OK.

Explain additional charges. It's upsetting be quoted a price of $600 plus for 3 day use of Uhaul and then end up paying $800 plus dollars.

I did not receive the truck reserved. The lock on the truck was rusted shut. Road side assistance never assisted- after calling 3 times, and being on hold for over 35 minutes each time..... And after reporting all of this to customer service after the unit was returned I still haven't heard back from a supervisor like I was advised I would (within 3 business days- by Tuesday June 6, 2017).

Customers should be notified of deposit rate(s) prior to reserving, and paying for a rental. I wasn't prepared to pay an $80 deposit, which altered prior arrangements in a negative way. Also, I can do without the sales associate telling me how much of a deal I'm getting in comparison to Northeastern states. Mainly because I'm in the south and the point he was trying to make was null and void.

I loved the easy pick up with everything online and on my phone! Super helpful and quick. Only thing to suggest would be re-word where to find the key in the lockbox... I was looking for a lockbox all over on the actual truck! HA. I probably looked like such a weirdo.

Staff did a great job of finding me a 15' truck last minute since corporate Uhaul canceled my order after 1 hour past my reservation time. Uhaul corporate needs to at least call the customer if they are going to cancel the reservation? I was not happy about my order being canceled. I reserved the truck for 10 am, and picked it up at 2 PM, only to find out it was totally canceled? I did not receive any notification. At least send a text message or e-mail.

The staff here were all very helpful. This was my first time using the self check-in feature. A little bit of a learning curve, but it will be a breeze next time (the key is in one of three lock boxes to the left of their "mechanic's shop". Three black boxes numbered 1, 2 and 3. You are sent the code to unlock the box for your key. One thing I hadn't realized was I needed to return the van under the green canopy. That wasn't made clear if I recall correctly. Just make sure when you return the vehicle that you park it under the green canopy next to where you check-in/check-out.

Great service (staff beyond friendly and professional). They did not have my size truck but upgraded at no charge. The truck was really nice, clean/maintained and drove well. I liked the quick check in and out lanes (like an airport) which saved time. This is the spot to get your truck plus moving equipment!

After getting my trailer hitched, I waited in line over an hour just to sign for the trailer I had already paid for. Uhaul seriously needs to do some more systems engineering on their customer flow process. Anyway, they only had one cashier on a major moving day (Memorial day), and he was working slow as molasses. As I left I saw about 3-4 employees milling around outside, arguing and shouting at one another about some workplace dispute, instead of helping customers. If I have already paid for a trailer, there needs to be an online system where I can personally put in the trailer identifier number, rather than having to re-enter the store and wait in line while customers ask never-ending questions about the capacity of cardboard boxes.

I was given incorrect info from the representative at Uhaul when I made my initial reservations as to what size uhaul I needed in order to accommodate my move. Once I arrived at the Uhaul pick up location, I discovered that the truck was not going to accommodate my move as the representative had stated. I immediately contacted Uhaul via telephone (never leaving the premises) to discover that the closest Uhaul that had a larger truck was much too far (it was in Raleigh and my move was in Chapel Hill and I'd already had to travel to Durham for this one) by the time I hung up the phone and went back inside the pick up location, my reservations had been canceled WITHOUT my request. I had to then drive to a different location in Durham to pick up the exact same size truck bc my initial reserved truck at this location had been reserved for pick up once the representative canceled my reservations WITHOUT my request. Although a $50 money back credit has been promised, I still spent about $70 more than I would have, had I not had to make two trips and rent the truck an extra day to do my move. The representatives at Uhaul seem to think that I came out good because they gave me a one way rental, but for some reason they are missing the point that if I had had a truck that was large enough from the very beginning, I would have driven half the miles and not had to rent the truck an extra day of which would have still been much cheaper than what I spent even with the $50 that I've been promised back.

This place was VERY disorganized. We were told we had to bring the truck back at 11:30 so that only gave us 3 hours. luckily when we called the other family had cancelled. We also rented a storage unit that we called about to see if we could start bring stuff over on a Friday instead of Saturday and were told yes adn that someone would call to confirm and then never did. We were also assured you could fit a 1200 sq foot house in the space. So we got the truck and then went back to get the storage space (this was Saturday). There wasn't anyone in line and the first guy said he couldn't finish helping us because he was't the person who deals with storage. He was very nice. But the person he got WAS NOT FRIENDLY and rude. He kept going to help another person I guess without saying a word, just always leaving. There wasn't anyone else in line either at this time. Then when he got done he just shoved the papers at us and we had to ask him where the storage locker was and what number. It was unreal. So then we get the truck to the back and the doors won't open and it's upstairs WITH a lock on it. The temperature is over 80 too so not climate controlled like advertised. We called hte intercom multiple time about the doors not opening and the lock on the door and no one would answer. Then we had to go back up front and tell them and the guy had an attitude and told us to wait so he could find someone to unlock it. Then when it was opened it was so small we couldn't fit our stuff it it which with the temperature probably was for the best. THEN we had to find somewhere to put our stuff in storage and somehow get the truck back by 3. When I told the guy who helped us cancel the storage room about how rude the man who got it for us was, he responded with "well, we are all having a bad day". Very disorganized and very rude customer service we were just in utter shock.

Have more customer service reps on a busy Saturday in May, or have a separate line for people who have confirmed reservations. I waited in line for 10-15 minutes to check in for my reservation while the too few reps on duty dealt with customers who didn't have any idea what they wanted, what it cost, or how to even deal with renting a truck.

I work for one of the largest retailers in the US. We are fanatic about the check out experience for our customers. I waited 25 minutes in line today just to pay for my rental. Then the U-Haul guy sent me out to talk to a guy that was hooking up trailers. He was working with another customer so I took it upon myself to hook up my own trailer. As I hooked up my rental, a U-Haul emplyeee stopped me, twice, to tell me a U-Haul employee needed to hook up my trailer. By now, I have been at U-Haul for over 40 minutes trying to get my trailer. Oh ya, I filled out all the paper work on line in an effort to avoid this hassle. Needless to say, I won't choose this location again.

Josh at the 15-501 location in Durham is awesome! I called the location to let them know I would not be able to return the 2 trucks I rented because we sold our home on Monday morning and the the closing on our new home (scheduled for Monday afternoon) was postponed until Friday. I only rented the trucks for 1 day and explained to him that our entire home was in those 2 trucks and I had nowhere to put all of our belongings as well as dealing with trying to find housing for a week for myself, my wife, our 2 year old son and our dog. He was so accomodating and apologized many times for something that wasn't even his fault. He helped to extend our reservations and provide some security for 1 piece of the crazy issues wevwere having. I work in a healthcare position where I deal with Customer Service on a daily basis and would love to have someone like Josh on my team. As a sidenote, we had to reschedule DirecTv, power, internet, water and gas hookups at the new house as well, but none were as helpful, understanding, or accomodating as our UHaul experience. You have a great team member in Josh and I hope his superiors notice that and let him know they see his dedication to his customers...We will rent from this location again and tell our friends and family to go see Josh for their moving/storage needs. Thank You Josh!

Vehicle had less than 3/4 of a tank of gas when I picked it up and I returned it it had more than 3/4 of a tank. They still charged me for $7.00 for gas. When I complained they I should have returned it with 13/16. There is not even a mark on the gauge for 13/16. I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager there that day. I have have rented a number of trucks from other U-Haul sites and never had this issue before. This appears to SOP at this location.

I had to ask to have the equipment cleaned out it still had drywall dirt and stones. They didn't really explain the billing although I was able to figure it out. Employee driving skills through the parking lot were scary to say the least. I was backing up a trailer and an employee moving a truck was not to be stopped by me. Another employee driving a pick up truck led much to be desired with respect to customer safety.

That means 24 hrs so we will have it back at least by then & if not we will let you know & agree to pay for 24 more hours. Everything else was ace, but unfortunately we had to rent the truck for an extra 2 days & were told this was no problem when we inquired about this possibility when reserving the truck. They just kept calling & asking what time we would have it back (I'm assuming they wanted to rent it to another customer) after we contacted then to let them know we would be needing it for the extra time.

Overall the vehicle was very clean except for the floor in the cargo area. It had not been thoroughly swept and had areas of wet debris. This debris transferred to the furniture we were moving and caused some staining on fabric. Next time I will be sure to take a better look before driving off.

I was told to check the mileage on the truck and I believe the mileage was off by twenty to thirty miles. I haul should have a better way of tracking mileage or have their representative comes out and ensure the mileage is correct. I was not going to argue with the representative because he was following Uhaul process which is very crooked. I don't mind paying for the mileage I rented the equipment for, but Uhaul doesn't mind charging their customers for mileage that they may have charged the previous customer for. I'm letting everyone I know about this experience and how awful it was. Furthermore upon getting to my car one of the tire hold downs didn't work so now I'm riding with one side tied down. Just an awful experience. I paid for the insurance too.

A regular valet service! the equipment was clean but could have been cleaner. the parts of the cab which could be easily seen were very clean. the spaces between the seats and under the seats had an unexpected amount of pet hair and other small travel trash. the cargo compartment was excellent. the performance of the vehicle was excellent with one exception. driving from the pickup location to my house I did not notice and driving from my destination to drop off location it was not noticeable but the entire highway portion of the trip the truck had a very strong pull to the right, no matter which lane I was in, so much so that I could not relax my grip on the steering wheel for even a moment. I purchased a tire pressure gauge to see if tire pressures were off but it was a worthless expenditure as it did not give the same reading twice in a row. one disappointment, was that last month's rental included cruise control. this month's rental did not. between having to constantly monitor my speed in an unfamiliar vehicle through several states and many different speed limits and the steering issue it was an unnecessarily tiring trip. safe and uneventful but tiring. bottom line - clean a little deeper, perhaps a run up to the next exit and back?

I was charged $4.55 for gas that I replaced. I was also charged for pads and a dolly that was left in the uhaul. I clearly stated on my contract I did not need the pads or the dolly but they put it on the truck anyway.My total trip was 11 miles. When checking in online, it said i would be charged.69 per mile and at the store was charged .99 per mile. So I definitely feel I was overcharged and will be using a different company next time.

I was told through text to return the truck to a different location than I put down when I ordered the truck. This added another 10 miles. I was being charged for driving extra miles because U-haul asked me to pick up and drop off at different locations. The first person I talked to in the store said that he could not do anything about it. I asked him the call the 1-800 number and he said NO because he wasn't the customer. When another clerk came to see if I needed any help, he said that he could help me. To me this is very poor customer service. Both stores are U-Haul stores, not just pick up/drop off points. You should have someone available to help customers when they have problems like this. Or your people to be willing to talk to the 1-800 people to help out. Right now I am glad that I will not be needing a rental truck any time soon.

The employee who I worked with literally told me that he did not like my name when he read it on my license. On the way out to the van he told me again "Yeah, I really don't like that name." I would advise you to tell your employees that it is not generally considered good customer service to tell a customer that you do not like her name. He was lucky that I am generally a relaxed person, I imagine another customer would not have taken that insult without reacting strongly.

I purchased a trailer hitch online and scheduled for next day install. I then called to find out when I the appointment would be. I was told that someone from that department would call me later the same day to setup an appointment time. I never received a call that day. The next morning, I received a call at 7:30am stating that I missed my appointment and that my time 7:00am time slot was overbooked. I didn't know about a 7am appointment time. Next, an appointment time was given for the following date at 1pm. This was not optimal due to the need for a hitch at a certain time, but I agreed. When I arrived, I was advised that the hitch was not advised due to towing restrictions of the vehicle...it would have been nice to know this information at the time of purchase. I approved the install after researching the issue. The other thing that annoyed me was having to wait in line for 15 minutes behind 2 other customers after receiving the trailer rental, to finalize the rental. They did not open another line to expedite the wait time.

The entire customer service experience on site was great- thank you! The truck was clean, as expected. What I HATED was the 10 pack of moving blankets mounted to the wall inside the truck. I understand that it could be convenient (and a nice upsell for uhaul) to have ready-to-purchase blankets in the truck but they were in the way! I hoped to slide the entire pack a few inches closer to the front of the truck, but it was mounted between two very close together screws and so could only be moved 3 inches at best. It was such an annoyance to have to plan to pack our stuff around this immovable object. I strongly suggest at least mounting this on the opposite side of the truck (where there's already a bump out on the floor) but truly I'd prefer for the entire thing to go away completely. I did not have to deal with this last time we moved- if this is a new practice mandated by corporate, please pass along my firm dissatisfaction. Thank you!

I was amazed at the total lack of service. I don't mean I wasn't helped. I mean I had to ask questions every step of the way. I pulled up to drop off the trailer. There was a man standing at the drop of area (not clearly marked as a U-Haul representative). I had to go up to him and ask him if he was, then again ask him what I should do. He did not volunteer the info. easily. Then I had to ask him where I need to take the trailer. Then I had to ask him where to go and finish the transaction. I asked him if I could return a connection adapter that was used for one day and in perfect shape. He said yes, but when I went to the desk I was "helped" by another un-helpful person. He stated no, I could not return the adapter. Again, I had to ask this guy questions about completing my transaction. There was never any offering of information. I had to even ask the guy for a confirmation of return receipt! You would think that U-Haul after charging an outrageous amount of money for a simple service would at least offer the courtesy of "returning "or even allowing the "rental" of a temporary hitch adapter. Now I need to figure out who I talk to to get my $50 back for my reservation location being incorrect.

Durham-Chapel Hill store is in a great location between UNC & Duke universities. Best thing was moving out of downtown & renovating old shopping center. My experience at this location has been excellent the two times we have used it for moves. The only thing I would question is the practice of not making the consumer that if Trailer/Truck is returned to the same location within 24 hours you can save big time. I always thought going one way and dropping off woul be the most economical process. Not knowing this and doing some research and asking call center individual I saved @ $100 this move. Rent them the equipment they reserved. I reserved a 10 foot truck - going thru many sites on the website to find one. You didn't have it here, givine me a bigger truck - that was mostly empty, and more expensive to run. Then your phone rep found me one, and tried to shift me to a location that was closed, thankfully, I checked first. When I went to the original location, they did not have the reservation. It was a comedy of errors in trying to rent a simple truck. Ridiculous. I'd appreciate some sort of credit for the gas I had to spend in moving a monster truck becuase you did not have the truck you reserved for me, and could not find one at a location that was actually open.

My experience at the UHaul center on 15-501 was wonderful. The process was quick and easy and the staff member helping me was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I would most definitely return to this location and refer anyone else (Prior to this I was scheduled with a "vendor" who made me feel quite uncomfortable and quoted me fifty dollars more than the Uhaul center, I believe intentionally, and the trucks were not in good condition - One had graffiti all over). I was so happy the Uhaul Center had availability for me that same day.

This office got me all set up for my trip to Waxhaw. They were friendly and efficient. In Waxhaw, Christopher helped me to unattach my car from the trailer. He was very helpful. At the drop off point in SC, close to Waxhaw, Wayne was very rude and obnoxious. He hung up on me in one conversation. He apparently was upset because I had to have a new key made and had trouble backing out of my driveway with the truck and my car which were jackknifing. Listen Wayne, it's your job to assist clients. If we're not using your service, you don't have a job. Learn to appreciate your customers. We're the reason you're in business!

Joshua Riggs was the person that really performed his job to the highest level. He told the time to explain all the information in full details, which really meant a lot. He knows how to get involved with the customers to answer each question fully explained. The way he greeted me was so welcoming. He really does his job for beyond.I have never been treated so well at any other u haul center. Im a grad students and I have used u haul a lot. I have reserve d a truck for Wednesday in Maryland for a move to Washington.I hope the staff value their job exactly how Mr. RIggs did and delivered an excellent service. The counter should be green cleaned and it should be fresh smelling when entering the building.Overall it was above some of the others. I appreciate u haul but the prices are higher than many others but the service is not the same. Thank you!!!!! U HAUL

Had a real problem with the left rear tire. Saw it was down when I picked up the van. Asked them to check it out first... they added air and told me it was okay! IT WAS NOT. Had to add air (and a lot - 35 psi) every 10 or so hours. Very frustrating and time consuming when I was trying to move the furniture for my father-in-law who just passed away. Ms Storm was not friendly or helpful during the rental process. Her lack of enthusiasm made the interaction very uncomfortable. Prior to leaving with the uhaul we noted the mileage and gas were not accurately recorded, they noted the changes but still over charged us for mileage (even after pointing it out). The truck was also dirty and did not ride comfortably.

I ordered the truck days in advance in person. I was sent an email confirming my order. When I clicked on an early check-in email the afternoon before I was to pick up the truck, the order had been cancelled. The personnel responded quickly and got a replacement in, so I had what I needed. What I didn't need was the hassle and worry in the first place. I asked several times but was never told why it had been cancelled. Also, there are no moving supplies at this location.

This truck was in poor repair. The lights on the truck did not work. The window did not roll down properly. The steering was very sloppy and the transmission was not acting right. We have rented before and have had good trucks. We completed the move but dissatisfied with the truck.

The lady that help me when I came in to rent the vehicle was not very helpful. I told her that I didn't need the smallest or the largest truck, but maybe the medium size truck. Her response was that she didn't know what I was asking for. Then she pointed to the board up and behind her saying these are the smallest these are the medium and these are the largest, now which one do you need because I don't know? She did not ask me about how much furniture I was moving or what type. She was not trying to be helpful at all. She never greeted me.

We drove only 14 miles total and then put in 2.5 gallons of gas. I was not pleased when U-Haul rep tried to charge for gas. A supervisor cleared it up and we did not have to pay extra so it ended fine, but initially I felt we were being ripped off.

The trailer gate needs work. Once you lifted it up, it went behind the rubber and did not want to come back down. Once down, it kept trying to pull itself up making it hard to manage. I have rented many u-haul trailers and this one was a pain.

Left the lot and the oil light flashed. Stopped and checked oil, it was so low oil did not show on the dipstick. UHaul repair service responded and add 6 quarts of oil to truck. Inside cab was dirty, windows were dirty. If you are going to charge me $177 for truck rental at least you could provide a clean, serviced vehicle.

I rather not comment. They just need to do better. The guy that cleaned up the truck after drop off had a poor way of explaining my total. To be honest, I was directing my question to the front counter guy. I guess the cleanup guy took offense that I questioned the total amount of rental. On the good side the guy inside did very well and took care of my question in regards to the total rental. Keep him. Hint. Very good customer service on his part.

When I ordered the uhaul the man I spoke with told me that he could see my account and the last time I ordered a uhaul the size was a 5x8. After getting the uhaul home and trying to load my entertainment center in the uhaul I found that it would not fit. I ended u having to put it in the back of a truck and it got rained on and ruined.

There was a gas shortage where I love drove around for an hour looking for gas couldn't find any. When I drop the truck off the guy Mr. Bellamy, tried to charge me 3.75 a gallon which. When I voices my displeasure he tried to tell me where I could go get gas, ( the place he mentioned I had already checked) why would I take the truck back out and waste more gas that I'd be charged for in the event I couldn't find gas? I mean I expected to be charged something but as a customer who is not at fault for the gas shortage I felt a discounted rate was in order. Long story short I have an outstanding balance that I feel is unjust. every time I've moved I've used a uhaul from this location, needless to say it won't happen again.
