The excellent rating is for the professional and courteous manner in which your customer service representative, Michael Walker, handled the arrangement for me to rent the Uhaul moving truck I used and the storage unit. He is very knowledgeable and capable in doing his job and getting exactly what the customer needs. The truck I used was very clean and ran well and the storage unit was very clean and easy to access. It took about 4 hours to get a trailer I reserved over a month before. I started at the Catonsville location which was very busy and very slow. For some reason they would not give me a trailer even though everything looked fine with it. They said Annapolis had one. Not too much issue picking it up there but dropping off was another story. Waiting at equipment drop off and no one came out. Dropped the trailer, told them I did and left. Overall an unpleasant experience. Would love to take business elsewhere but unfortunately there aren't many choices.Gary C.
The truck came with only a half tank of gas so I filled it up for $50 - but I returned it with 3/4 of a tank which means it cost me $25 more than if I had received it with a full tank and refilled it before I returned it.Michael M.

Start by not wasting my time. The app I'd flawed. If I wanted a rental after hrs I would not have been able to due to the apps (your server) not able to upload a license photo, cancel the current res nor start a new one in its place. Second it turns out that I still had to go inside to be processed. So no possible way of contactless rental. Next stop committing fraud (you can't tax a required environmental fee: just ask Verizon). Third stop stealing from your customers. Adding an additional mile then taxing for it is not legal and I might not ask for my money but the gov will not stand for being an vehicle for tax fraud. Have the trucks I reserved, I called the night before to make sure the trucks were ready. Show up the next morning get set to Columbia MD for one of the trucks drive all the way there no truck. Employees were very helpful and polite. Equipment was in horrible condition. There were 2 6x12 trailers on site, one had 3 bald tires, well past the wear indicators and mismatched tie downs and the other had 3 out of the four taillights illuminated with broken lenses, burnt out taglight and only about 20% of the running lights worked. One of the tires was also down to 10 psi. Again the employees were incredibly polite and helpful, but the equipment is terribly maintained.Noah Z.

I have used another company and I was expecting a much better experience when moving into my storage unit. Upon arrival the check in was smooth, but the employee did not go over any of the documents provided other than the directions to my unit. The employee cursed to other customers and it was unprofessional. With this being a new facility, I assumed my unit would be clean as I have used another company and did not have to clean the unit before placing my items inside. The unit had a lock on it when I arrived and I had to return to the customer service desk to get it opened. When opened there were mouse traps and bugs everywhere. I cleaned it all up and placed my items in the unit, but again this was not the experience I was expecting when getting this unit. We had a hand truck rental from last Sunday until Wednesday. Upon returning it, the employees were not even going to give me a receipt for it until I insisted. Then we found out that the identification number was different than the original identification number on the issuing receipt. The issue about the identification number is alarming and I will not be going back again and will warn others about them.Frank R.

In the past have had excellent helpful service at this location. Maybe representative was new or needs more training in customer service. Telling me to drive the trailer over to traders was fine. It was the "you can unhook it & put it over there. " Being told by a 20 yr old male in U Haul uniform, to " unhook trailer & hand lift the trailer into a slot while he checks it in on hand held device , I find lackingMary G.

My tow hitch (which I hadn't used in a few years) was very rusted and corroded and it was nearly impossible to get the ball placed in it correctly. However, all of the members of the UHaul team did their best to fix it and get me on my way. Where do I start â€¦.? The last two times I've used This location it was horrific. After the last time, I thought â€¦ ah I'll give it another shot. I was in a jam and needed a truck badly . Making the reservation online was easy enough. I was promised a clean truck and when I got in it was not very clean , but not terrible. I was pressed For time so I said eh I'll deal. It got late and I needed to extend my rental. 36 minutes I took to get a live person. 36. Unacceptable. Finally got that straightened out, because of course the website wasn't working. Bad storms hit and we have no electricity so I had to once again extend. Another 30 something minutes on hold. They had issues processing payment or something I have no idea what the issue was and around and around we went . I finally said look I have the truck. Im not calling back again. I don't have time for it. Never heard back. I return the truck and of course the app is useless. It didn't work so I had to just drop the keys and go. The next afternoon I see that the truck still hadn't been checked in and I couldn't get a hold of anyone to let them know it was there. The next day I realized we needed to move a few more things. I reluctantly went back. I begged for a clean truck. The lady reassured me that it would be and that they had someone specifically for that. I get in this truck - you have got to be kidding me- engine light on , blood , yes blood on the passenger seat , on â€œeâ€ (no gas) Coffee and sticky shit all over the floor and center console. Oh and the best part - wait for it- it rains and the truck leaked. All my stuff soaked. Put a call into the â€œmanagerâ€ but of course you can't call that location directly because the calls are forwarded. Man took my name and number because I want to be compensated in some way. Guess what - no one called back. I will be disputing charges . What a nightmare. Stop pretending to clean these trucks and more importantly - fire the detail person because they suck oh and the manager for letting it happen . Also stop having the call center book one on top of the other so they actually have time for stuff like cleaning and heaven forbid - fueling them .Ashley A.

The process for renting the storage unit was easy. The customer service I received from the staff was outstanding. We shared a few laughs and they explained to me how the facility worked. The issue I have is the hours and the passcode access. I would liked to have access to the storage unit 24/7. The major issue is the passcode. The passcode I was given does not work. I was then given a second passcode that did not work. I was given a third passcode that did not work and then given a forth passcode that did not work. I am still without a passcode and that is frustrating. Because of your convenient office hours I was able to get the staff to assist me. Check in on the mobile app didn't function correctly, so I had to check in inside the store, which took way too long. Rep at the store was disorganized and kept talking on the phone with someone else (I kept thinking she was talking to me and she was like, oh no, I'm not talking to you), so standing there for 15 minutes was awkward and uncomfortable. The furniture pads I had rented weren't available for my pick up time and she was frantically calling back to other staff to "clean and fold" some so that I had some to take. After she finally checked me in she told me to get the truck and pull around the truck for the pads. When I pulled around the front, the guy up front was confused and said I needed to pull around the back to collect the pads. When I pulled around the back, there were two staff members cleaning pads who were also confused that I was told to come back there and told me to pull around the front. Basically, I was sent on a wild goose chase for pads and all of the employees were sure of where I needed to pull my vehicle, but they were all wrong and I circled the store twice. Upon returning the vehicle, the same staff member outside said I didn't need to go inside to check in and that he would check my vehicle in and I should just leave it. I was worried about being charged incorrectly, since the check in process was so sketchy, so I snapped a timestamped pic of the odometer before leaving the vehicle. Staff told me I'd get an email confirming check in and the charges a few hours after I dropped the vehicle off, which did not happen. I called customer service first thing the next morning to confirm that it was checked in correctly and they said they'd call the specific store and they'd call me back later that day to confirm. Never received a call back. Two weeks later, I received a bill being charged for double the proper charges, as they didn't check in my vehicle until 3 hours after I dropped it off. I had to speak with customer service on the phone to issue the refund, but was glad that I had snapped a time stamped pic of the odometer proving my return time because it seems like I'd otherwise have been up a creek. Overall, not a smooth process and didn't love being overcharged. It doesn't seem like customers should have to document everything themselves to ensure they get charged for what they actually should be charged for.FAITH S.

When I first contacted U-Haul, I was told one pick up site. Then I got a notice to go to two different sites. The two moving teams contracted through movinghelp.com did not show up. Everything there was fine (people/place). However, I reserved a unit on my own and it was no longer available. I ended up having to spend MORE money each month because of this. You should be honest when people "RESERVE" ahead of time and let them know if they NEED that size storage unit, the should reserve a larger one because theirs will not be available when they arrive. This is somewhat false advertising. STICK TO YOUR WORD! If I reserve something, this is precisely what I expect when I get there. Not having to find something else!!! RESREVATIONS are made on purpose. Have it available if you want customers to return in the future. Storage facilities can be hit or miss. The staff availability was low, but given everything with COVID that’s understandable. The locker I rented had a lock that didn’t prevent the unit from being opened, were it a long term rental I would have had them fit it with the proper lock. The company is so shoddy and badly organized that they don't even realize that I'm not a new customer. I've been at the storage facility for over a year. My first contact with them was when they spammed me trying to sell me insrance. My second contact was when they told me I had a late fee because they weren't getting the automatic payment that I set up ages ago.
