I've rented here before and I have always found the service friendly and very good and the equipment in great condition. On this occassion I decided to use the Mobile pickup. I made my reservation online at uhaul.com website. Since I wanted the truck before the location opened and because the service is "electronic" or automated and I work in IT and things aren't always as good as good as they sound, I called ahead to the location to inquire how mobile pickup would work. I was told they prepare the truck the night before and the accessoies I ordered would be in the truck and I would retrieve the keys from the lock box once I arrived and allowed my GPS to locate and there was no way they could not leave keys in the lockbox because they couldn't lock their main facility doors to leave for the evening unless my rental keys were in the mobile pickup lock box. The guy was insistent I give him my credit card # so I informed him that I already had the information filled out on the uhaul website I just had to hit the submit button. So Sunday AM, I arrive a little after 8am trying to do mobile pickup and of course it tells me i have to come back and do a manual pickup when the faciltiy opens. The attendant claims that they forgot to put the keys in the lock box, however, the truck was parked some 1,000 feet away out on Pershing road with none of the equipment I ordered in it and pouring down rain. I honestly beleive an employee at that location changed my mobile pickup to a manual pickup, and I am wondering if it is because I wouldn't give the guy I called there my credit card number over the phone as he asked for it about a half dozen times. Or if they get a commision of some sort for local orders. They also told me during the manual pickup I had to give them my drivers license and credit card all over again after I had supplied it on the web site...being in IT that makes no sense to me. It was on file with my reservation......as my order was not fully billed due to the pending mileage charge added AFTER I use the truck. In addition, they marked that the truck had 3/8 tank of gas and while it did have over a 1/4 tank it was not 3/8. I returned the truck with the same amount of fuel I left with and got hit with a $15 Fuel fee.....what happened to giving me a full tank of gas so I could return it full and didn't have to guess? hmmm? Then the mobile drop-off was never explained to me so I could not do the mobile drop off at 9PM Sunday night as I had just locked the keys in the lock box and then tried to do the drop off in the individuals car who was picking me up. Overall not too pleased with this particular experience...shining example why America is going in the toilet...this whole experience is about the greed of corporate America and the pressure they put on their employees to pad the bottom line. You know the rate was reasonable, accessory rental prices were reasonable, the mileage charge a little high especially with me paying fuel, but then slamming customers with added fees and setting up the system so you can easily add those fees to unsuspecting customers is a little disconcerting. It should make a difference what color you are or what female or male Charleston Illinois site should have been more courteous to me by not charging me to deposit when I was not supposed to be encharged a deposit so with that being said The employee at the Decatur location was very very nice very very helpful and he was he he did all he could and he would also return my deposit bit might be possible but I also felt like that that put me in a bind after they charge me that so anyways I thank you very much watch what the split servicesERNICE C.

Love the room should have went with 10x15 but I made my choice work. Building was very well maintained. Love the fact you was given a new lock along with your unit. I was charged $7 extra for the dolly that came with the truck, and DID NOT use. It seems to be an excessive charge. Also, the storage rooms need to be fumigated. There were cockroaches in my belongings when I picked them up from storage.JAMES J.
Everything was easy to do to reserve the truck online. The free storage unit for 1 month with 1 way rental was a major savings as well as very helpful. Jordan was amazing I called earlier yesterday about 11am and spoke to John and I told him I moved out. He said he would check and send me an email he never did and I was due to pay on my storage the next day!!! This is my first experience renting a U-haul. I wasn't sure what was involved. I downloaded the App and completed it on line. When I arrived it seemed what I had done on line was duplicated. Typically the service here is decent. Always friendly employees. Last rental was awful. I'm hoping it's not due to new management. Took over a hour to wait in line and pick the truck up. Then I had to walk a mile to find the truck. Nobody could tell me where it was. It was way out on Pershing road. Then the passenger door would not shut properly didn't realize this until we were on the hiway. And on top of it they gave me no key to the padlock. This was a huge ordeal as I had to pay someone to stay with it to guarantee nothing got stolen out of the back. This rental was totally awful. I use to rent from this location twice a week and I've never experienced such an awful ordeal.KIMBERLY W.
We rented a tow dolly and 20 min later didn't need it. Scheduled to return it 45 min away and when I called to change return place since we were still right by uhaul was told I Couldn't do that. So had to drive a empty trailer 45 min to home just to return it there. Noone could help and if I returned it to the place I rented it I would be charged 3x the cost. It cost me a great deal of unnecessary money. The guy refuse to give me the key to storage and the truck he said I can get the storage key when I’m finished with the truck. Well when the loading was finished it was closed which cost me 159.00 more dollars to hire new movers to unload the next day. Maximum security and climate controlled with inside bays to load and unload to escape the frigid outside winter conditions. Due to the office being closed, I had know access to a broom to sweep out the very little glass from a small broken lamp that was left behind leaving me to be charged the beyond unacceptable outrageous unacceptable $100 cleaning fee that I was NEVER told about or explained!! Plus the guy lied and said the gas was just under the same level it was when picked up. Me and my 2 sons made sure the gas was definitely returned with the right amount of gas, but still charged me $50. Needless to say I'm outraged at this $150 total RIP off fee!!! And will be spreading the word of how Uhaul will screw you over every chance it gets!! Plus the guy who sold me the lock for my uhaul storage only sold me 1 lock & never told me that my storage would be 2 separate units.
