I found it strange to be changed for 13miles when my Maps App showed only 2.6 and my own sense of miles traveled told me it was certainly no more than 3 to 5 miles tops. Also, I put in $15.00 worth of gas to refill the tank when to my knowledge a cargo van will yield up to twenty miles per gallon and those fifteen dollars were good for over three gallons. I don't mind telling you that something seems off the mark in this scenario which is too bad since overall I found my rental experience quite positiva.

I was informed when I ordered that my drop off location was a 24 hr drop. It was not. They told me it had changed due to the area. An update is needed somewhere. Otherwise everything was great.

I rented the U-Haul around 12:30 pm and return it around 4:30. The employees on those times are great. The cashier that did the contract was quick and the woman check off the truck was pleasant also.

The truck was not back from the previous customer. They didn’t let me know in advance. I called the night before for a question, the answer I was given was different than the one provided at the counter the next day. And then the issue with the truck itself. The woman at the counter was the least empathetic ever. Overall not a usual issue (the other customer was a culprit) but I had to pay more in mileage because I ended up with something 3 Times smaller. So you make the other customer pay a fee for late delivery, and I ended up paying more mileage. All in all, a good day for UHaul, a terrible first experience for me. Pierre Laurac 4154906706

I have come to this Uhaul for the last 5 years and I can honestly say that I will never rent from anyone else. We have used storage units there before and that was a great experience as well. I feel bad for not remembering all the names of everyone on the team but I can tell you that every employee I interacted with on this last move was very courteous and helpful! I’m very thankful for all the help and I look forward to referring as many friends as I can to this specific location! Thanks again you guys kick ass!!!

I was surprised that I had to walk up a hill to get the cargo van. I remember when it was brought down the mini hill to me. But it was great when I returned the van, the attendant called me by name and showed me what I owed. I did not have to go inside to sign anything. I received my receipt by email by the end of the day. Thanks!

Preposterously, the staff consistently acted surprised that more than a couple of people were renting trucks on a Saturday morning. There was an unreasonably slow line at the desk (in spite of every customer having done "express check-in") and the staffer at the final checkpoint leaving the lot was nowhere to be found for about 15 minutes.

The process took forever to get the car. The online check-in is a complete waste of time when you have to wait in line to get the key and then check in a third time before being able to drive off. More staff is needed.

Nothing wrong with the location, but horrible infrastructure. Renting a truck for four hours to find out you can not return it correctly until you get to the facility after a day of moving is ridiculous. There is no way this is an isolated incident, yet I see no effort to prevent it. Perhaps make it explicitly clear which locations you can drop off to after hours if you close at 5, so your customers can choose to rent from those facilities and not run into this cluster fuck on what could have been a perfectly find Sunday evening to relax.

This place is managed very well. My only complaint is that you have to call a special number to rent a truck through our corporate account. We could not figure out why months of rentals were not going through our corporate account. Maybe fix that? Ideally, we should be able to call the Bryant Street U-haul number and reserve a truck using our corporate account.

The person who called me to confirm my appointment clearly needed some training. She called me to confirm, yet then proceeded to ask me my info, destination, name, address, order number, etc. as if she didn't have that information at all. Altogether a very confusing call and took a fair amount of my time during a busy work day.

I have to say... there is nothing on here about the attitudes and friendliness of your staff and that is telling.

I get it that helping people on a day to day basis is hard. I am currently in a role of customer service. And people can be awful. But the start of talking to some of the staff there is painful. I tried this self check in thing on this visit and it was the dumbest idea ever. You guys have got to figure that out before launching it... you just do not have the system to do that. But, I digress to the people in the front office. There is some kind of disconnect to service there that is just painful. I keep going back because it is the most convenient and I can always get what I need. But if something else were to come up I would switch my loyalty in a heartbeat. This survey focuses on the site and the vehicle, but your front line people at the desk are... frighteningly unprofessional and jaded.

Picked up a truck at 8am, had to be at 8:30 back home since I hired some movers. But at this location early in the morning they have one person both for checkout and returns, obviously a truck arrived returning their equipment while I had the truck's keys, but needed the blankets. The lady decided to do first the return of these other guys even if I arrived before them. Ended up arriving late back home due to this horrible experience. Avoid this location early morning or give you 45/60 minutes. They are really that slow. Note: I did check-in online before, that helped almost nothing.

The facility is managed exceptionally well. I've had no issues with the equipment, check out/ in, etc -- in fact, these have improved SIGNIFICANTLY at this location in the last few years. However, the location is surrounded by aggressive day workers, panhandlers, and homeless, and that makes it a challenge to recommend to others.

My uhaul experience was terrible at the Bryant location in sf...i own a moving company i just started about 7 months ago..i have used uhaul ever since i opened spending about $2200 a month for truck...i always go to the location by the Travelodge inn off market ..(that's the best uhaul location..alsome staff with alsome and helpful attitudes)...i picked up a truck from 1525 Bryant and it was problems from the beginning..so then do to my business i had to extend the truck which i do very often so i would try to pay over the phone my card was declined so i go in to the location and pay to extend...the next day same situation but i get a text after my card was supposely declined over the phone uhaul took 63.22$ out two different times..7 mins apart...i got to location no one sees the charges and no one got time to look at my bank statement...so i pay again because the truck was full of my customers stuff... because i had to stop and deal with this...then i call the 1800 number they don't see the charges and they can't look into it because only the location got my card information....i run around everywhere for 3 days trying to find out why this charges were taken out my bank 2 times so then..go in to extend again pay 55$ because I'm dealing with the charges that no one sees bit me and my bank and the next day they say i did not pay the 55$ the day before and bit once again it showed on my bank statement so finally the manager was there i showed him my bank statement for everything he was confused and didn't know..i made 3 different complaints through the 1800 number... They kept telling me someoñe would contact me within 3 business days and never heard from no one and still have no answers to my money being taking out my bank totaling 237$....NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND OR USE UHAUL AGAIN after my experience with this location......

After using the self check-in mobile app, you still need to wait in line for the key. I waited in line for the key but they did not have the key there either. Eventually I got the key by waiting outside for somebody. When the self check-in asked about mileage, I could not check it since I did not have the keys at the time. After reloading the web page on my phone it showed a next step of going inside and showing the employees a code on my phone for them to give me the key. Sounds like the mileage check and key retrieval steps are out of order.

I made a reservation for a truck and everything was fine. in my reservation for an storage unit I had problems with the price; the quote that I got when I made my reservation was for a unit 10 by 5 by 8 the price given to me was $99.95 with confirmation number 708021-114250 the person who helped me was Adrian Ordaz whom presumed to be the manager on duty did not honor my reservation and charge me $114.95 which I think it's totally wrong. it portrays Uhaul credibility as a very bad one. I like to ask you to consider you respect the price Offered to me initially with my reservation and confirmation. I like to hear from you soon.

Overall, the location has a large selection of trucks, and the staff are generally great. I have only two major concerns: 1. When checking in on the app, you have to walk wayyyyyy up a hill to your truck, and then all the way down again (probably an eighth of a mile!) to get the key, then back up again. It would be preferable for the app to unlock the van automatically after check in. (In the meantime, I have stopped using the app to check in and am checking in in the store.) 2. The area around this location has a large encampment of very aggressive day workers and homeless tents, including many who get up into the main truck lot. I'm not sure what you can do about it, but this would keep me from recommending anyone else use this location. (There are other locations for which this is much less of an issue.)

Even though I arrived a little after my pick up time of 7am I did not get the vehicle until 7:50am with no one else waiting at the location. I understand that their internet was not working, but having the vehicle blocked in and being unable to find the keys to get my vehicle out was really inconvenient. Then they couldn't find the keys to the other vehicle which in turn caused them to have to give me another vehicle which took more time. I couldn't even get a printout of the contract because they told me to just take this vehicle and would sent me a modified contract by email. Process just turned out to be not nearly as smooth as it should have.

The van was new, but had no back up camera. Also, I checking in on line and sent a colleague (A listed driver on the reservation) to pick it up. He was told he had to give his personal credit card in order to pick up the van. I have rented from this location many times and have never had this happen. If there was a problem, the clerk should have called me and i would have given my cc info over the phone. Extremely inconvenient. Next time we will probably just get a "Flex Van" in the neighborhood.

Reserved the uhaul but when keys were given they were for the wrong vehicle. Waited for them to get another vehicle which took a while. Mileage and gage read for the original vehicle and contract wasn't updated. When we returned the vehicle to new location they wanted to charge us for the gas! Both experiences were horrible and took longer than needed.

I want to preface this, before I rented the UHAUL, I called to see if there would be a 9ft van available. The person on the phone said yes, and I reserved the van at the Valencia Street office. When I got their, I was told that the Van was now at the Bryant Street location. I guess I got an email, but I was riding my bike. So, I didn't get that info, until I arrived. I also used the online check-in. I was the first person in line, but there was only one person on staff. So, I still had to wait. All of these things combined, made me late for things I had to do with truck.

I had reserved a truck at the Valencia street location, as well as made a purchase for a mattress bag. Unfortunately, I was forced to switch to Bryant because there were no trucks at Valencia, and the purchase was not transferred automatically, necessitating I purchase another mattress bag or drive to Valencia. There was also not the correct amount of fuel in the truck, and very slow service. Overall poor service, lack of customer orientation.

Months ago I put in a claim because the package I received going less than 40 miles was obviously dropped off the truck and repackaged in a uhaul box to cover the mess. Upon opening the box I discovered prices of my box (a very expensive dresser) was missing pieces, had broken and damaged pieces, and the styrofoam inside was in pieces instead of blocks. It was a mess, they left a piece of the actual box it came in, the invoice was missing, it was a complete disaster. Once again I am appalled by your companies service. I asked for a refund of $100, what I was charged. This is ridiculous. 1. How does a large company like yours hide such a big mess and think that putting it in a new box would be ok? 2. This is the second time complaining about this issues without even an apology. I demand a refund, if not, I WILL GO TO LEGAL MATTERS. I also have photo evidence

The facilities are fine and managed well, however there is a HUGE and fairly aggressive local homeless population that are allowed to roam around the property (including parking lot where I picked up the van, and which had no visible security), which can be very uncomfortable to deal with. I understand that U-Haul has little control around the surrounding area but I don't understand why folks without U-Haul business are allowed to harass U-Haul customers on the property.

I made the reservation from 8am to 8pm, but no one told us that the gates would be locked at 7pm, and we'd have to find "safe" parking in the city ourselves, and then return before 8am the next morning. Had we known that, we could have easily returned the truck before 7pm. And we even called the number to confirm, and they said "Just return the truck with the other trucks and drop the keys in the late drop off box" Sheesh. We adjusted, but it could have been much less of a hassle with more consistent and accurate communication about this location.

the Uhaul truck handled poorly on the road. The alignment was terrible and was more like driving a boat on the high seas in rough water. The interior was greasy stinky and covered in a film of filth and shame. I had to baby wipe down the inside and the soot I took off the interior was deplorable. Please rent road safe clean vehicles. you sure charge enough to maintain the quality of every vehicle. I will never rent from Uhaul again. the margin for error is too great.

Tell your employees to slow down moving the equipment through your facility. A female employee was driving way to fast and almost ran me over. The young man that checked me in had to yell at me to get out of the way . Not impressed at all....

Terrible service. Made check-in on-line and they still made me stay in line to pick up the keys, which delayed me for almost 1h. Note that it took them 5 sec to give me the keys when it was finally my turn. Also, because of the delay, I wasn't able to follow my move achedule and had to return the truck 2h late. Since I was late, tried to return it asap, which generaded me a $30 fee due to fuel below 1/4; however, the level was already slightly below 1/4 at pick up and I rode only 10miles...I'll never recommend or do business with U-haul again. Feel that writting this review is already a waste if my time as I suspect nothing will change/going to happen.

This was the most terrible process I spoke on the phone to the call center and they told me the truck would be available for self pickup at 6am and the gate would be open just to bring my cell phone and I.D. I got there at 6am and no one was around the gate was closed and that location doesn't even have a self pickup box Luckily the manager got there at 7am and got me the truck asap It did make me late by an hour throughout my whole day for all my jobs Oh and I tried to call the call center but of course no one answered Very poor communication and even worse is the false statements I was told I even got an email confirmation along with my online and phone confirmation to pickup the truck at 6am Very very poor service

I was called a couple days after returning my equipment and told that I had NOT returned it. I had to call back to tell the person that I had returned the equipment. Seems like something that could have been checked before contacting me. Also I wasn't given a receipt upon returning the truck and dolly, I was told I'd receive an email, but then I was still called and told I hadn't returned anything. Maybe I should be given a physical receipt so that I have some way to prove I returned the equipment.

What’s up the entrance? Isn’t there a way for a manager to walk out in the morning and remove all of the homeless tents? I have used this location before, and the entrance seems to have traveled downhill FAST. I rented a 10 foot truck to pick up a sectional and move it out of my apt. When I showed up Wes (super awesome dude, nice guy) told me that they ran out of the 10 footers (what I had reserved the week prior) and gave me no alternative other than a van for the same price. I told him that a couch would not fit in the van, and that I would need a 10 footer or larger. He told me that it wasn’t his fault, the reservations department made a mistake, to which I replied that it certainly wasn’t my fault and I should get the larger truck for the price of the one I initially reserved. He agreed. I was charged $29.99 for the 15 footer, with the promise that it would have been reversed once I returned the truck to $19.99 (the price of the 10 footer). When I arrived, I was told Wes was no longer at the building and to call customer service on Monday. I called Monday, with a promise of a call back to resolve the discrepancy. No call. I called Tuesday with the same promise. No call. Called Wednesday and someone on Wednesday documented it all in the computer and apologized that my call had not been returned... It’s a week later, still no call back. No resolve. I know that its only $10, but come on...There is also the principle. The truck steering was off (probably due to alignment) and loose, there was snickers wrappers all of the truck, and used Kleenex. I cleaned them up and threw them out because I didn’t want to get charged a cleaning fee. Please keep my $10 and put the money toward a fund to make sure and clean your trucks and keep up with maintenance.

To my error I did not take a picture of the mileage and fuel but I filled the tank full before I returned the vehicle and we were billed for more miles than we actually did. So I feel ripped off. when I questioned the person receiving the vehicle he said - check the receipt. He was very unhelpful. First time using Uhaul and probably my last.

My issue is not with the location, it is with UHAUL corporate and regional office. I've had the account for a week, renting 4-7 vans a day. Scheduling and coordination with Uhaul is awful. The website is not dependable for scheduling - very buggy. Half the time it gives the wrong amount of reservations to the scheduling office. I make reservations with corporate, and before I'm off the phone I have the regional office calling to confirm reservations - and they always seem to have the wrong number of reservations for the specific day, they get the times wrong. They leave messages saying they will cancel my reservations if I don't confirm within the hour. I can never talk to the same people about the issues I'm having, including my corporate sales rep. I'm spending $1000-1500/week and have awful inconsistent service. I need simple options on my online account like being able to view my reservation receipts and have insurance for all vehicles instead of having to book it individually every time. Unhappy with service thus far.

More clearly communicate that there isn't a gas rebate even though there is on miles. We paid over $100 in gas that didn't get used in the trucks, since they were given to us close to a quarter tank, and we were informed at the time of pickup that the gas would also be rebated if we didn't use it all. Also the staff receiving the returned vehicles was a bit surly.

I had the WORST experience with this location. Customer service is terrible. I had 2 U-Boxes and 1 was not shipped until 10 days later than it should have (after I called to ask about it). When I inquired about the box and any reimbursement for my troubles I was transferred 7 total times and ultimately left with no commitment to any financial reconciliation. The number of times I was transferred and the number of times I have to explain myself and answer questions about my order (ie, where my boxes were coming from) was absolutely ridiculous. I will never ever use the U-box services again and would think very hard before even using u-haul for ANYTHING, even buying moving boxes... that's how poorly I was treated. Can I also mention that it has been 10 day since my guaranteed U-Box arrival and my second box is still not available? I have had to purchase new items that were needed during that time. A reimbursement of $50/day is unacceptable for this length of time and HORRIBLE customer service. I hope someone reads this and wants to fix it. If so, please contact me ASAP -- Lauren Yamaoka

My experience snowballed from my initial appointment in San Francisco. U-Haul missed my initial scheduled drop-off and forced me to rent a truck and trailer even though it wasn't my mistake. Then the pod was delivered to a different location than promised so I didn't have access to my things for a while. And then I scheduled the final drop off one week ahead and the day before when I called they said they couldn't do it. My appointment was at 9 am and they said someone forgot to push it through so I was SOL. So I was able to get someone to honor the 19th so I can pick it up but they had to move it to noon. So I showed up to the location on the email and it was the wrong location. Ironically, the e-mail made me drive half an hour away from my home to find out that they did not have my pod and they gave me the address to where it actually was and the funny thing is it happened to be 5 min away from my home. So had they communicated the correct address in the first place, I would not have wasted hours driving to the wrong location. When I showed up, the first thing the rep told me is I was late and was supposed to be there at 9 am (you can imagine at this point how infuriating it was to hear this) and then I proceeded to tell her all the details. She then was nice and sympathized (thank you), but when we went outside to find my pod, she couldn't find it and it wasn't even ready. So not only did it show 9 am on the account, the new appointment was noon and at 12:45 it was still not even ready. After unloading my things, I used a lot of pads and so many things were tossed around and scratched. It's clear the pod was not handled with care. For the amount of money I paid for this, I cannot believe what I went through.... :-(

Worst experience ever. Horribly rude staff. Box wasn't at pickup location. Staff totally confused and rude at both pickup locations and their info didn't match the info in my confirmation email. I got double charged and am still having trouble getting it corrected. I've spend hours of my time with customer support. Customer service is useless, the info they provided conflicted with each other and reality. I honestly can't believe this business is still in operation. I will never use Uhaul again for anything.

I wanted to start this off by letting you know I'm very upset over the poor experience I had with renting and returning a U-haul. Thru the U-Haul app I scheduled a drop-off for 10pm. I arrived at the drop-off facility at about 8:30PM and noticed the place was closed. But since, I scheduled a 10pm drop-off I looked for the after-hours drop instructions. It turned out that the location did not offer after-hour drop-off. I immediately called the U-Haul hotline to see if there was anything I could do and was told that I was going to be stuck with the car for another night and that there was nothing I could do. This seems pretty ridiculous to me when as a company you take no consideration in to what my schedule is. No offer of dropping the vehicle to another location. Only a response that was equivalent to "We're sorry we messed up your reservation, it's not our problem, inconvenience yourself by holding on to our property and change your schedule to drop off our truck tomorrow morning". The terrible phone service was made even worse when the U-Haul representative who answered the phone, hung up on me. I tried calling once more and was once again told there was nothing I could do and that I would be charged to hold on to the truck for another day. I was forced to go back to my apartment where I don't have parking and had to search to park your truck for over an hour. Because I held on to the truck and drop it off at a time where I was already supposed to be at work I ended up being late to my job. When I finally went in to return the truck I was only given $20 off of a $120 bill. When I take in to the account all the time I wasted handling your truck for longer than I was supposed to and the time I lost being late to my job I don't think I should have to pay for this experience at all. I'm requesting a complete refund of my bill.

I reserved the truck for pick up at the 100 Valencia street location. Upon arrival I was told my reservation was at Bryant st, I had the email with the Valencia st location on it. Ahmad at the Valencia St location was no help in resolving the issue. When I asked for the manager's information, he gave me the business card while saying the manager was not going answer the phone when I called. It was a horrible experience

The self-pickup is marginally better than picking up in store. The problem is having to go back into the store to get the key. It'd be pretty simple to equip the app to unlock the car remotely and have the keys stored in the vehicle. Zipcar does this. So do many other rentals. It was kind of frustrating that it took as long as it did, but it was better than doing everything in the store.

It did take more than an hour for my container to be brought to me, which was a problem because I had rented a truck for a few hours and had limited time to get it back due to the delay. Also, it was not shipped to a facility where I could transfer my things to a permanent storage unit, which was what I asked for.

The first vehicle we were given smelled like pig farm + lifelong 2-pack a day smoker. We requested an alternate. The second vehicle had the same smell, but only lifelong one pack a day. Pretty obvious what the standard of quality was at that point, and it was thoroughly disgusting, and thoroughly unacceptable for us considering my wife and myself are both asthmatics. Never again. * PS: I grew up with a pig farmer for a neighbor who smoked 2 packs a day. He actually smelled better than those fricking vans. That's just mind bogglingly pathetic.

I called twice to make sure I could pick up my uBox that day. Both times, they said, yes, you can pick it up between 8am and 5pm that day. I arrived at 8:30am and they said someone had to come in at 9:15 and take out the uBox. My movers were ready to go at 9am. The uBox wasn't ready until 10:00. It was just one thing after another. I was surprised the establishment was run so poorly. When I asked an employee the manager's name, she didn't know his last name. No one did! I ended up overpaying my movers because of the extra time. Such horrible business practices.

When I first arrived no one would wait on me. Several men/women working there just walked away without bothering with me. It's not a good area at all. I work in the financial district and this area is not a good area of SF. The truck wasn't exactly clean, but I hosed it down. The guy who checked me in was awesome. The area to pick up the truck is SF's worst area for homelessness and crime. But, at least I felt safe inside the compound and in the truck with the door locked. The people inside were great.

I requested and paid for moving pads, but was not supplied with them. I didn't notice until I had already left. When I returned the van, I asked to have the pad charge removed from my bill and was told it wasn't on there. The email I received later still showed a charge for pad rental. There was also trash in the back of the van when I picked it up. Not a lot, but I couldn't describe it as clean. All equipment worked just fine. I would still recommend this location because it has plenty of vehicles and is conveniently placed, just don't ask for any extras.

The return was a little tedious, there was nobody available for 10 to 15 mins and when i when to the front desk the Gentlemen with a beard was telling me that i was lying and that it was true etc.... instead of saying hey let me help you.... two of us told him the same thing. I understand that people are busy but telling a two customer that they are lying is not great. Beyond that good location/service even for being a little sketchy neighborhood. Easy access is good.

I first made my reservation with someone on the phone. The next day I was called and told that my "online" reservation couldn't be made, but it wasn't done online and the rep was arguing that I was wrong. Then we had to modify the whole reservation to rent a trailer and a truck (which I should have had had to pay for it since this was U-haul's mistake). At the time of pick up, it took over an hour at the counter while the rep had to jump through hoops in the computer. The U-Box, Trailer, and Truck were all in different reservations and then the trailer and truck compatibility wasn't working. So the U-Haul dedicated truck was showing not compatible to tow the trailer so the rep had to make a fictitious truck on the reservation. The system is so inefficient. I came prepared, but U-Haul was very disorganized. I paid more because Uhaul made mistakes.

The stress and confusion, however, makes it difficult for me to think about using this service in the future. The staff, outside of management, was often confused and showed plenty of signs that they did not care about doing their job or taking accurate comments/requests from customers.

U-Haul charged me $110 over the price it quoted, even though I returned the van in the original condition, on time, under mileage, with a full tank. The person who checked in the van said to verify mileage at the front desk. The front desk rep said I was being charged for miles. But when I told her that I drove 10 miles fewer than I estimated to get the quote, she claimed I returned the van late. I returned the van on time. U-Haul kept me waiting in line before checking in the van and controlled the time they received it. When I brought this up at the front desk, the woman told me to contact the general manager, who she said had just left. She took a message for him and said she would leave it on his desk and she gave me a number to call to reach the GM. I called the number she gave me, but there was no option to leave a message for the GM. I called the next day and was told the GM was not available and given a direct number for him. I called that number and left a voicmail. The following day, I again called and left another message. I also emailed the customer support address U-Haul provided in one of its sales emails. None of my messages were returned. U-Haul owes me $110. It is as if they are trying to get away with stealing money by ignoring questions about their wrongful charges. I recommend not supporting U-Haul.

We had an issue with the corporate account (possibly due to our company's error so no issue there). However instead of contacting U-haul corporate for us to help figure it out they pointed to the 800 number and told us to figure it out and then come back. Then when we finally got our vehicle it was dirty (inside and out) and fuel was on EMPTY (as in the fuel light was one). We were already running late due to the previous issue so did not have time to wait for them to reissue us another truck. While driving to the gas station we tried to clean the bugs off the windshield only to find out the windshield wiper fluid was also EMPTY. I rent from U-Haul in Los Angeles four times a month and I know how good their service can be. This was not it!

I'd booked online and selected a different location. U-Haul changed my pickup location because of equipment availability and didn't send me an email that clearly stated that the change had occurred. This was an unexpected and not welcome surprise. But the location where I was able to finally get my truck was pretty good. The initial getting to the rep at the counter part was a VERY long wait, but after that, it was all good! The rep was helpful and efficient! Thank you!

I used the "express" check-in whereby I was under the impression I could use my phone to check-in at the store and skip the line. That was not the case. You had to stand in-line just like everyone else. There was no benefit to signing up for express checkin. Further, there was no signage at the store saying what to do if you were expecting "express" check in. So everyone who was expecting that service would go to a check in clerk that was serving someone else and be told the same thing: go get back in line. The people in line began to tell new arrivals that to save time. Not very efficient process.

The line to check in was really long. When they gave me the keys to the truck there was another truck blocking it and it took 20 minutes for them to move it. Overall terribly inefficient and took so much longer than necessary to get the truck.

I requested for a 10' truck, appliance dolly, big dolly, and 2 dozen pads. I only got the truck and nothing else. I called the customer support and was told we cannot go and pick up the dollies or the pads as no one was answering the phone at the location. We had to use our small dolly to load and unload our big furnitures, which took longer to do. We were given a discount by the manager, but I would never recommend this place to anyone. The person who checked us in the office already had an attitude and was basically irritating us with his attitude then they miss the equipments that we needed. I was told by the customer service that I will be receiving a phone call or an email from the manager in 2-3days. We needed the truck for 3days as we couldn't finish as we planned due to not having the right equipment. I never received a call or an email until after we returned the truck. I am not happy and satisfied with this local uhual at all.

The location is scary, thought I was going to be harassed and/or assaulted; but the location was convenient :) The Key was not in the ignition upon entering my designated U-Haul Truck, nor anywhere inside the truck, I intended to rent. Therefore, another 20 minutes was wasted when we had to walk back to the building, wait in line for our turn and for the rep. to locate the appropriate key to be given to us. (sigh!) But, since U-Haul reps managed allowed me to collect the truck two hours earlier (than 5:30), I let the other issues slide.....resulting in my satisfaction - YAY!!!

The line to get a vehicle was insanely long. Luckily I used the self-service option via my cell phone, but it was not clear where to go or who to speak to when I got there. They were really understaffed, so I had to grab a worker to get information on what I needed to do to get my truck.

The vehicle was not washed.I bought insurance and was told it would cover an damages.When I returned the vehicle I had a broken driver side mirror.The agent said I was covered to me and my wife.But then he played on his phone and said I was not covered for the damage and that I had a $150 deductible because it was a vehicle that Uhaul leases and dosent own.And then I was informed that if I had rented a box truck that I would have been covered under the insurance.I was not informed of any of this at the point of sale and believe it is very misleading.This situation is causing me and my family unneeded stress and I want to resolve this situation ASAP.TIMOTHY TRYGG 213 858 6528.CONTRACT #88989171.Thank You

U-haul never communicated to me where my ubox was sent. I contacted u-haul several times to figure out where my box was, if I could access it on a specific date, and if I could have it sent to a specific address. U-haul never answered my questions - each customer service rep would either try to pass my message along or redirect me to another rep. Every time I was redirected the call ended (their end hung up?). I don't think any of my messages were passed along either. I finally had to guess the location of my u-box. I went to the Bay Area candlestick location and brought paid movers with me to unload furniture from my box. When I got there I was told that the box was at the Bryant location in San Francisco. The rep helping me would have to wait and see if the Bryant location could access my box. After waiting 40 min with my paid movers and traveling to the Bryant location, I was finally able to access my box, and my movers were finally able to help me unload the furniture from the box. I was charged extra by my movers for the extra travel and waiting time. Extremely disappointed with U-haul and hope to never have to ship a U-box again.

I have many complaints about the drop off process : 1. I called customer service to verify if I could drop off after hours in the SF Bryant location ( I was very specific abut the office location) - and they confirmed that I could drop after 8pm - closing time - and drop the keying in the designated area. 2. We went around 10.30pm to the u-haul SF bryant st location- it felt totally unsafe - homeless people all around sleeping or walking around- there were even homeless with pit-bull dogs that they had unleashed and were roaming freely. We felt totally unsafe. We could not find the drop off box, we left the truck there and had to return the next day to return the key. Honestly we don't appreciate u-haul putting us in harms way . There was another gentleman also dropping off his rented cargo van, as he was given the same info. We were told the next day at the u-haul office that the location was not a drop off location given the unsafe surroundings. 3. We filled up the tank close to SF ( I can submit my amex receipts upon request), and we return the truck with 3/4 of a tank. We were surprised by a ne amex charge from u-haul of as services alleging that there was only 1/4 of a tank. The only reasonable explanation is that the gas was stolen during the night as the truck drop off location was not secured, and I honestly not taking accountability of the charge as I was told to drop it on location after hours . All in all - there is a big disconnect between u-haul the customer service answering service and the individual really of their offices - which this time resulted in exposing your customers to an un-safe and uncomfortable situation.

Waiting in line was slow at the Alameda site because there not enough Uhaul employees staffing the counters. The man who helped me - very professional & efficient, English accent - was great but was the only person there. Also, due to problems with the computers, he had to cancel my entire order, made in advance, and process the whole thing again from scratch. Uhaul should have had more people working.

The first Uhaul I reserved with on Valencia St called 40 min before to tell me they overbooked and wouldn't honor my confirmed reservation. So I moved it to this location, where we had to wait 30 min to get our van and almost an hour to return it. It was a terrible experience, and I'll likely never use Uhaul again.

I did everything online or with my phone. I was instructed to leave the keys in the dropbox at the location after I was done with the vehicle. There was no dropbox for the vehicle keys. That caused great confusion for me, the agent I spoke to in person, as well as the wonderful customer service representative that helped me as best she could over the phone. If this location closes at 8pm, there should not be an option to rent a vehicle that will be returned after hours. Or maybe install a dropbox for keys. The agent I spoke to wanted to watch me as went through the process on my phone. He clearly did know how this works and seemed confused that it was even letting me take the vehicle. He told me where to park the vehicle when I was done, but could not tell me what to do with the key. Figure this out.

Almost Everything was excellent. The only Improvement I would suggest is that the employees would retrive the trucks from the parking lot for customers. Today the truck we rented was parked a tight spot took a little while to get it out. I use them all the time and will be back.

The day I visited the location there was a client (storage tenant) who called the cops and was making a huge scandal in the store. Not a welcoming place. Plus, the location is surrounded by tents and drug users.

Aweful customer service. Either these people have issues with people of color, Hispanics, etc... or they don't know how to speak to people with courtesy; that's probably the reason that place is eerily empty and without customers. I regret having used services at that location.

I was mislead by U-Haul to believe that this location would let me return the rental truck after business was hours but in reality that was not the case (no key dropbox here). And gasoline from the truck was stolen from the rental truck by the time I returned next day morning to handover the keys.
