The young lady who assisted very kindly got the truck for me. While backing up she slammed into one of the parked Uhaul trucks. My concern was that she didn't feel it necessary to view the damage, so we left. After arriving home and parking the truck I noticed that there was obvious damage. I was concerned that I would be responsible for the damage when I returned the vehicle, knowing that driving off of the lot meant that I could have done this. Thankfully, when I returned the truck the first thing I pointed out to the receiver of the vehicle was the damage. It wasn't a problem. She should have addressed my concern and not shrugged it off by saying it was fine.KIMBERLEY R.
Worse interaction with a business EVER! I rented a pickup truck that was supposed to be $20 for 4 hrs. I returned the truck on time. Two days after my rental I'm charged $80. When I call customer service I'm told I'm being charged extra days. Took me several days to finally get a hold of the general manager. I was told several times it would be resolved by her. Entire time I'm receiving calls from her staff telling me to return the truck. More than 10 days after my rental I received an email invoice stating I'm charged $60. I am still waiting for this issue to be resolved. I wouldn't recommend anyone even consider using the Garner location.ANTHONY P.

In order to rent the truck i had to pick it up at 4 pm and have it returned by midnight. I returned to the center around 6 pm where i was met by 2 employees. i told them i was unable to get on line to do a check out since the center was already closed. they told me not to worry that they would check me out in the morning. i trusted them only to find out when i got my receipt that i had been charged an extra $50 for returning the vehicle with less gas then when i picked it up. THIS IS NOT THE CASE, I FILLED IT BACK UP TO THE SAME PLACE AS I RECEIVED IT. WHEN I TRIED TO CALL THEM BACK TODAY TO DISCUSS IT, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SPEAK TO THE SUPERVISOR. iNITIALLY I WAS TOLD SHE WAS NOT IN YET AND THAT SHE WOULD CALL ME BACK. The location is woefully understaffed. The store opened two hours late, which cut into my rental time. Because it opened late, a long line had formed of people waiting to get their equipment, and with only two people working, the line moved slowly. I waited an extra half hour in line just waiting to pick up my keys even after I did the online check in. They also didn't have the utility dolly I reserved (they let me use an appliance dolly for the same price), so the availability of equipment isn't accurately reflected online. The people working were doing their best though. They just couldn't keep up with so few hands available.Eric S.

Associate was beyond rude to my mother. Couldn't take his eyes off his phone to help her back the trailer up, or even unhook it for her. He eventually unhooked it, & aggressively dropped the trailer on the ground & didn't say a word.Colby M.
I want to the store and they had a long line with 5 people waiting and 2 workers outside. So when I went it people started to tell me they had been waiting 30mins to a hour and that the store was under staff. The inside seems every old and dirty but any ways one of the staff members at the counter went outside and began arguing with a older gentleman. You could hear them all the way in the store cursing and belittling each other. I literally thought at any moment they were going to fight. So then the gentleman that worked in the store came back in and he looked like he didn't wanna be there and you could tell how stress they all looked. The girl running the front desk has ZERO idea what customer service is. Also, if there isn't a guarantee I'll have a truck available then shit needs to say that on the website when you place the order. None of this getting there and it's not available. We rented a motorcycle trailer to hall a 1996 Harley Davidson Heritage Classic from NC to Fort Drum NY. We had a 1 7/8" ball on our car and the trailer called for a 2" balll, but they hitched it up anyway. That doesn't seem like much difference, but we hauled the bike with the smaller one and regreted it because the trailer jerked and jumped all the way. So we found a uhaul place and had the 2" put on and WOW that was amazingly better. Hardly noticed the trailer after that.Lisa B.

Took me an hour to pickup the truck - only one person was working on a Saturday morning (think the others had called in). The truck sun visor was missing the retaining clip so it kept falling into drivers field of view. Truck has lots of damage spots that weren't marked and weren't in the pre-pickup photos. Tire was low on air and we couldn't fill it up at pickup - missing an adaptor on the air pump. Truck had an eighth a tank of gas at pickup.James P.

I tried to call the location and was put on hold for nearly 15 minutes at which point I decided to just go there. When I got there I tried to check in with my phone and could not even though I had a reservation. I decided to go inside only to find a line which I was hoping to avoid by making a reservation and doing an online pick up. As I'm waiting the phone rings and the caller gets put immediately on hold. He is left on hold for 16 minutes( I know this because the employee commented how long the customer on the phone had stayed on hold). I finally get to the front, I check in for my vehicle but the employee could not see my reservation for my storage unit. So I pull out my phone and show her my number and access code and finally she pulls it up. I'm all done finally, go to pick up my van, and cannot use link to upload my photos. All in all I was now an hour behind and highly frustrated with u-haul.ISAAC O.
Change how equipment inventory is managed. I ordered an appliance dolly. After speaking to several U-Haul representative I was assured it was available. When I picked up my truck it was not available. The representative called three nearby location and none of them had it. Hire more and better motivated employees. Make sure they show up before the store actually opens to prepare for customers. Make sure that they prepare equipment for mobile pickup ahead of time so that customers don't have to visit the store more than once. Coach employees on how to be more efficient at checking equipment in, out, and cleaning equipment out. Coach employees on how to be more friendly and treat people with respect. The store was supposed to open at 7. It didn't open until 8:30, this was due to an employee getting into an accident. However, there were other employees that showed up, they just didn't have keys. I don't blame them, I blame whoever owns the store for not having a plan for this kind of situation. Why do the others not have keys? The employees handled it well despite there being 20 unhappy customers waiting. I texted the general manager, she never replied. I called multiple numbers and all lead to the stupid UHaul customer "service" line that takes you no where. That is on Uhaul.Kevin J.

Lackadaisical young man who checked me in disconnected the trailer, walked it into the parking space and never opened or inspected it. When walking back toward the office, he yelled back that I could go. I parked and went inside and told the lady at the desk that I had 10 rental pads inside the trailer and asked for a receipt. Did not provide the furniture pads we paid for. After hours check out was a rocky experience and left me feeling worried that the company would hold me responsible for issues the app would not allow me to report.Cameron W.
There needs to be more accountability and in house employment. I was given conflicting information throughout the entire process and the only help i could get when things started going wrong was the assurance that it was a different departments responsibility and i should call them. First. I do not recommend booking movers through Uhaul. Uhaul is simply a portal for a service called moving help. I booked the highest rated movers on there and ended up with broken book cases, boxes marked very heavy on top of boxes marked not load bearing and our dryer was stacked lopsided on top of our washer. They also went over an hour and insisted I should pay them cash for the extra hour. I called uhaul and i was told it was not their responsibility because uhaul does not represent the movers despite the booking and reservation being on the uhaul site. I was given the number to moving help who told me I was responsible for reaching out to the movers for reimbursement. So i just have to eat the losses i guess. Before the move a ubox representative assured me that the delivery date of the 10th was auto generated and that since i was only moving 6 hours away i should have my stuff within a couple of days. The contract date said the 10th. Our pods were picked up on the 29th. We prepared to bring enough supplies for me, my wife and our 9 month old to last a week just to be sure. Our stuff did arrive in our new state within a couple of days. However, I was told they couldnt drop it off until the 6th because they didnt have enough drivers. On the 5th i was called and told that a driver had called out and they couldnt deliver until the 14th. I explained that we worked from home and needed our stuff and had an infant eating out of a bowl on the floor because it wasnt here yet. I was told if i had an issue with the drop off date I could rent a truck and go get the uboxes myself 1 at a time or just open them on the lot and get what i need. We had 4 pods packed by someone else so that option was impossible, especially when we finally saw how they were packed. Eventually, the representative agreed to drop them off on the 9th. Even though 5 minutes ago they didnt have drivers. By the 9th I had never received a call or text to confirm the drop off so i called the ubox service line and was told that the manager was scheduling my delivery as we were on the phone. I asked for assurance that my stuff would actually get there that day. I was told the manager or driver will call me. I asked again "will my stuff arrive today?" Again, no one would commit to anything other than id get a call. Eventually I got a text saying my delivery time was 6pm - 10pm on a weeknight. I got a call from the driver at about 9:50 asking if they could deliver it the next day because their gps was dead and they didnt want to drive a forklift at night. I eventually got my stuff at noon the next day... I called uhaul support multiple times during this experience to ask for some sort of reimbursement or discount. At the very least some assurance that this process wasnt normal. I was told that the movers were my responsibility. Ubox storage and delivery is contracted out and not the responsibility of uhaul and at one point a representative called the storage facility to see what my delivery status was and was told that it was my job to book movers to deliver my uboxes. The representative seemed to have no knowledge of how the home delivery process worked at all and just told me to book movers to get my stuff. As for the delivery delay, uhaul only promises to get your stuff to a storage location in your state by the promised date. Getting it to your doorstep isnt their responsibility. Not that it matters because the ubox employees are able to promise whatever they want and youll still be held to the automated booking that says your stuff wont arrive for 3 weeks. I dont want to be dramatic, but this experience put alot of stress on my family and 3 days later, my back is still killing me after figuring out how my wife and I were supposed to unstack a washer and dryer. The only thing Ive managed to get out of customer service is the reassurance that despite uhauls branding on everything, uhaul is definitely not responsible for this experience. Aslo, dont forget to tack on about 250 in fees for delivering your stuff! That was a fun surprise. I will not use this service again.Thomas R.

I went in for a 18.95 5 x 8 trailer. The location didn't have one so the only option they gave me was to rent a van. $120 later I got my things moved. What a fucking joke. Piece of shit people and company. I will never rent anything from uhaul again and will be sure to tell everyone I see and can tell about how horrible the service was and how I was taken advantage of. The most unprofessional, rudest people I have ever met. What a terrible experience. And to top it off the van stunk from marijuana the people must have been smoking at the place. I recently rented a cargo van, and $104.35 was taken off my card and it has been 5 days and I still haven't received my money backDEBORAH V.
The location that I picked up my truck is running some sort of scam. I picked up a truck with 1/4 tank of gas and I returned a truck with slightly MORE than a 1/4 tank of gas. I have the pictures to prove it. The store said I returned it with an 1/8 tank of gas and charged me 53 dollars. When I called minutes after receiving the fraudulent charge I was given an excuse and put on hold for 20 minutes. Then I called corporate and disputed the charges and requested a phone call from the location manager. It's been 48 hours and no call... this is obtaining property by false pretense and I will be filing a report with the local police.JOHN M.

When returning the equipment, Heather and 1 other gentleman that was at the counter did not even acknowledge me. Heather was assisting a customer and once he left she began speaking so I gave her my name but she actually had someone on speaker phone and put her finger up at me to wait a moment as she continued to speak to the person on the phone. This continued for two more phone calls all the while still not acknowledging me in between calls but could stop and speak to her fellow associate who not once acknowledge me either. The only person I felt that I encountered during pick up and drop off that was helpful and friendly was the young man who helped us unload the trailer in the designated area. I ended up walking out of the store and went into the garage area to find the same young man and gave him my remaining payment in cash since Heather wouldn't assist me. The young man apologized and finished up my drop off. Thank you to him! I should have gotten his name but did not. I checked in online and it still took 30 to 45 minutes to pickup a 5x8 trailer. When I bought the trailer back to drop off was even worse. I was told to pull the trailer around to the side of the building and someone who wouldn't be with me shortly to check the trailer and release me from the contract. No one ever showed up after several trips back inside the building no one still never showed up to check me in. Finally I found out on my own that I was able to check the trailer back in or drop off the trailer via the web page which I did. I had reserved a guaranteed truck at the garner location which is also where I have my storage unit. I reserved it doe 24 hours. When I got to the facility to pick up my truck I was told that there was no truck available and they would have to call and find me one. I was told that there was a truck at another location. Maybe I am a little stupid but good customer service to me would be for someone to drive that truck to the garnet location to where I was waiting but no I was told I had to drive 9 miles in my persons vehicle to go pick up the truck (it was actually 11.7 miles). I also asked the employee at the garner location why there where no disc locks on the 2 doors that I had on my storage building and he said I had to bring my own locks and looks. When I told him I booked online and hey were supposed to be included for free he provided me with 2 locks. I love 2.8 miles from the garner location which is why I booked there. I wasted almost one hour of my time driving to Raleigh to get this truck which means I will waste another hour driving back to Raleigh to get my car on Saturday. I asked the lady at the Raleigh location about the miles and time I had wasted and she gave me the weekly mileage rate instead of the weekend rate. I find this unacceptable. I feel like I should have 23.4 free mikes to put on the truck because that is the distance that I am forced to drive getting the truck that I did not plan on. I would also feel like I should be reimbursed fir a gallon on gas that I am having to put in my car to drive there and back that was not part of my booking. I also feel I should be reimbursed a few gallons of gas that I am gonna have to put in the uhaul truck that was not my plan. I also feel I should be reimbursed somehow for the 2 hours on my wasted time. I am moving into a different house in 2 weeks and will need to use another truck for the move. I rented a truck to when moving in, but was never credited the free month for doing so. For the first few months, the code I was given never worked. I know I was doing it correctly, because the “temporary” code I was given the first day worked for the first couple of months. After that, I was fortunate enough to get there when someone else was entering. Many automatic overhead lights in the storage facility won’t turn on so my unit is in a dark hall. I imagine this could make many people feel uncomfortable. Very clean. Advertising and the instructions I was sent after booking said there would be a lock in the unit. There was not. My overall experience with uhaul staff is good BUT as I was returning my rented 15’ truck, I encountered a staff member/young man who was the RUDEST I have ever encountered and down right ABUSIVE. Worst, he took the key from me and drove the truck in front of building like racing on track and almost smashed a poor man who was pulling in front of him (see your videos from cameras). When I asked about manager, he said go inside and wait and he is way to busy to worry with me. Mocked me when i asked if my check out was completed and said look at trucks that I have to do and brushed me off. I have rented storage for over two years and sometimes two at ones. Rented multiple trucks for me and business but never expected that rudeness and dismissive/abuse to customers. The manager (Ms. Tyndall) was very professional and courteous but I refuse to do business with this location in future and would not recommend to anyone else because my experience with the employee (see my return for his name). One final word, there are many facilities that compete for the same services as yours, what sets you apart and encourage people to do business with you again is your customer service and that is completely MISSING with this employee. This UHaul location is the best in the area. Capital Blvd. Is the worst. I have rented several times at the Mechanical Blvd. location, this time to move to Youngsville,N.C. Back storage area is where I had my camper and lights at night were always out. Never could get a “pod” for remote access, I always had to exit my car to enter gate code on key pad . Me and my husband are very upset with the way our rental was handled today. I called uhal this afternoon to reserve a storage unit that would fit a truck as we are moving and need a space for my husband'struck. We were told that we could rent an enclosed unit at your location that was as big as a 1 car garage. When my husband got there that's when the problems started. At first they could not find our reservation even though we had a reservation number. Then they decided that they would give my husband a unit and proceeded to charge him $200 when the unit was supposed to be free because we rented a moving truck. When my husband pointed this out they did not believe him and made him swear that he rented a truck. Then finally he said he would give him the unit for the free month. When he went to go find the unit it was inside and they gave him no direction on how to get there. Our unit was supposed to be outside so we could store our car. They said they did not have that unit and the only thing they could give was an inside one which does not help us. It took my husband 3 times to get in as they kept giving him the wrong gate code. When he finally did find the unit it was upstairs and the furthest away from entrance that you could get. When he finally got to the unit there was a zip tie on it he had to remove along with a mouse trap and dead mouse in it and cockroaches. At this point my husband had already been there 3 hours and he needed to get back to us to finish out the day. To say the least, we are very unsatisfied and plan on calling the corporate number to speak to someone. This experience has put a very bad taste in our mouth. I went to put my clothes in my unit and when we pulled the door up we found roaches crawling on my items. I then called a friend to see if I can store my clothes at her house. Spoke with the person on duty and he made me feel as if he didn't believe me or as if I brought the roaches. He did point dead roaches out side my unit and down the hallway. Also the storage facility itself smell bad and has a water leak. I plan to bomb my unit before I move my items out to make sure I don't carry them into my new home. I rented this unit to store household goods while waiting to move into my new home. When I came to the unit on 9-2-20 to load my furniture, the storage unit was leaking and the concrete was soaked which ruined my mattresses, TV's and ruined my Christmas decorations that have been in my family for years and the rest of my belongings smell like moist-mildew. When I called a week ago to resolve a different problem, I was told by the manager, Mike, that if I called ahead of time to tell them when I was coming to unload my UBoxes, into a storage unit, they would have them ready for me. I called Friday afternoon to let them know I would be there Saturday morning. When I showed up, I told the manager I had spoke with him last week and he rudely said, “No, probably not.” After assuring him that I DID talk to him, they found my account, and UBoxes. However, they had not been pulled out and ready for me. They said, to give them some time, probably 20 minutes, and we’ll call you to let you know they are ready. After an hour and a half of waiting in the parking lot, they were pulled and ready. When I went in, to find out which storage unit was ours (I made a reservation for a 10x20 back in June), I was told that I didn’t have a reservation. They had to make me a new one, but they had no 10x20’s available. I made the reservation, drove out back to the other building so we could FINALLY start unloading our UBoxes, to find that they were stilled screwed shut. Of course the front desk wasn’t answering the phone, so I had to drive back up there to get someone to come back down and take the screws out. I then scanned my access card to get into the storage unit, and it says “Welcome Kailyn.” That is not my name, so after we finished loading all of our belongings into the unit I went back up front to tell them. I was told that if I wanted it changed over to my name I would have to come back a time that the manager was working because nobody else knows how to do that. Meanwhile, the whole time the cashier is talking to me, he is spitting into a water bottle because he had dip in his mouth. Overall, I was not pleased with this experience. What should have been a 1-2 hour ordeal wound up being over 4 hours. The one employee that wound up helping us actually retrieve the UBoxes and get the screws out of the boxes was friendly and apologetic (I don’t remember his name, but I do know he was finished at 1:00 that day-8/15). Other than him, the experience was very frustrating, and if I had the capability to tow the UBoxes, I probably would have just taken them elsewhere.stevie t. | First Impressions

I called a month before the actual moving to the storage unit and using the truck. I got to the place in Morganton to get my truck and the guy there was rude and did not want to answer my questions and he said he did not want to talk to me the he would talk to my daughter (I am Spanish and my daughter looks American) he should not be so rude and calm my anxiety with the answer to my questions which were very legitimate considering the truck charge was high (he said I was going to be held for $343.00 but my money will be credited to my card once we got there) I did not understand WHY he couldn't just do the right thing because that was way too much and he said we couldn't return truck back in Morganton but it was really not true. Anyhow, I called the U haul place at Mechanical Blvd. in Raleigh and the guy who answered the phone was not very knowledgeable and he just couldn't even find my reservation. We get there at 3:53 and as told in Morganton but the owner, Mr. Hennessee, we wanted to let them know we were there so the time we got there is recorded an he said I would get $100 back credited for early return of truck. The storage place is busy, the guys Kenneth Perry, says he can help me, but when he is helping me some other people say that they need to talk to him and he tells me to stay there on that register while he helps this other customer because they need help. I asked Why is the other guy not helping because I believe once a customer is being helped then he should finish his work with them and then get the next customer. He went and helped the other people and when he got back to help me, then he rushed because he wouldn't answer my questions and he did not even make sure I was not charged for my first month . He told me to wait at storage unit number given and that he would be there shortly. When we get to the storage unit. I did not feel safe. There was a woman there who says she has 3 storage units and sure she did have a dog in one of the units, she had her blanket, microwave, cheese, food, eating there. She also had all her stuff spread all over hallway and told me not to go by there because she needed the hallway to spread her junk. I told her I did not care and that we needed to unload our stuff because we had been driving for 3 hours and we wanted to get it done. She also took some of our stuff and we had to ask her to give back to us. She looked like she was on some drugs. The alarm went off when we opened my unit and when we tried to close. THUS, they should fix that. Someone should make sure NOBODY is in those units eating, sleeping and with animals.That is not a safe nor good idea. I am scared to go back there by myself. At 6pm, I asked that guy who helped us to please make sure I got my money credited and he gave me a number that is not even UHAUL to call and talk to them because he said he couldn't do it..
