Hire staff that understand f#@$ing customer service and can actually empathize with them. Took up to 30 min per customer thats INSANE. I spent almost an 1Hour and half in line with 3 people infront me. When i get up to the employee he asks : what are your needs? I say : either a 15 footer or a 10 feet. He says : sorry everything is reserved. What kind of ducking employee doesnt tell there customers every 15 min or si : Sorry but if you don't have a reservation we are out of trucks. In no way shape or form did he atleast try to call another god damn store to get me a truck. Ps : your site sucks, didnt let me insert Quebec as a province so i couldn't reserve. I hope you have a shitty summer

M’y reservation was at 9. I showed up at 845. Had to wait in line till 930 to speak to someone to get my reservation. What’s the point of having a guarantee if you won’t apply it when the delay is due to your own fault? Plus the truck made loud whistling noises and clicks and clangs when driving on the highway (did the Same thing when it was empty so it’s not the gear). On moving day, the last thing I need to be a source of stress is uhauls lateness and their non apology for it. Would never recommend such a company. Not pleased at all.

How you are going to simply tell a customer wait for your truck to arrive as the person is late ? On top of that not even care about the limited time people have and charge a $25 fee for the cleaning of the truck and this was not even mentioned ? Damn it if you guys do that to each customer thats millions of dollars when you pay $12 to the person washing the car ? Pure capitalism. Inform your customers of those fees specially when I know the truck was not clean when I picked it up right after the other customer dropped it. That is an unfair charge right there !

Even though at the opening hours there was only 1 employee to handle approx 10 customers, he was very courteous and effecient. I can only suggest that on an important moving day of July 1st, that full staff should be required. But in general, my experience was positive and the wait time to pick up my truck was within good service standards. All the best to the Gatineau staff on St-Louis street. Good job !

Nous avons grandement apprécié le service, la courtoisie et l'efficacité. Très compétent. Toutefois, nous devions venir de l'Ontario ... Il devrait y avoir une meilleure collaboration pour le kilométrage une compensation lorsque la succursale ontarienne n'a plus de véhicule en stock. La succursale d'origine devrait compenser monétairement car ceci affecte la facture. Merci de considérer.

The equipment was in perfect condition and the guy that helped me outside was an amazing person. But that's it, when you get inside the store you feel tension everywhere. The girl named Tania I believe, the woman at the counter there is just insane, she is really rude to customer, always conversing in a confronting manner... Really unproffesionnal. I understand it's a big week for Uhaul but as the manager I believe, she should behave another way. There is no booth outside for the return of the trailer but she just tells client go outside its not our job. Client are confused and sometime it's after a 10 15 min wait in the line... It should be more organized.. Anyway, good product good price, just an awful customer service at the counter. 3 star out of 5.

However I would not recommend U-Haul due to you equipment pick up and reservation issues. If you take a reservation, at the very least have the equipment available, or call to say that it won’t be.

My electrical system and tow hitch were not installed correctly. I returned to have it fixed and they couldn't figure out the fault. The entire system is inoperable and useless. The technician who installed it took 7 hours to install the system and admitted he was learning. This is not acceptable under any circumstance.

Too long of a wait, had to wait 1h in-line to be answered. My truck wasn't a the location I chose when booked online. I had to drive 25 additionnal km to rent my truck. So what is the purpose to choose a location to pick-up if I can't get it where I wanted. The location I wanted to go was 800m from where I was.

Made a reservation for a 6'x12' cargo trailer on Mon 17 June 2019 for a Fri 21 June pick-up. Upon making the payment on pick-up, I noticed that the price was way above (50%) what I had discussed during the reservation. The clerk explained that the prices had gone up during that week. I mentioned that I had made a reservation but did not insist with the clerk to pay the lower rate. Can I pursue the matter further? Merci d'avance. Claude

Cet établissement est tres bon! (en anglais s'il vous plait.. Coventry Road provided very poor service and transferred me to Gatineau, so we cancelled that order. I lost 3 hours in the day and barely finished in time. I blame Coventry Road and the 800 service.

The prices were not identified correctly. Since it was peak season It wad extremely expensive!! I understand that it is very busy and want to make some money but you should be upfront with your prices. Also, since it is peak season you should probably have more staff to recieve customers.

Pickup and use went very smooth with no issues, however when I went to return the trailer I rented I got there at 6:50pm (my return time on my contract was 7:00pm and the lady highlighted it as well) the doors were locked. Even though the store was open until 7:00pm. eventually the same lady that helped me when i picked the trailer up came out and told me that the store was closed and I would not be able to get my deposit back until tomorrow. Not being from the area I don't know when the next time I would be back I asked if there was any other way I could get my deposit. She stated that I should have been back 15 minutes before my drop off time as stated in my contract. I looked the contract up and down right in front of her and no where did it mention this. Her excuse was that it must have been a miscommunication error and I would have to call the help[ line to get the deposit back. The help line was very helpful and explained that the store should have been open until 7:00 and not have closed early. (my guess is that the staff wanted to go home right at 7:00 because as I was leaving I saw some of them taking off) I ended up getting my deposit mailed to me thanks to the helpful man at the uhaul help line. The drop off process is a little flawed, since you are technically able to drop the trailer off while the location is closed and they do their return inspection the next day. However if anything happens to the trailer overnight I would assume they would hold you responsible for it. My recommendation would be that if you are dropping off a trailer do it an hour before the store closes. If you have to drop it off while the store is closed take lots of pictures of whatever you are dropping off.

First of all, let me say how great the service was! I've been raving all weekend about how seamless the whole rental process was and how the folks in Gatineau were pleasent and helpful. One improvement would be to enable English printouts for the documents. The employees in Gatineau weren't able to print in English from their system. As I was passing through the US border, French documents wouldn't do. I had to print those on my own from my Uhaul account.

It would have been nice if at least the cab of the truck could have been pressure washed and the interior of the cab cleaned, including the windows .Also, the cargo area should have been swept out. Staff at the Gatineau location were very pleasant and helpful! Equipment worked great!

Completely unacceptable level of service, lineup about customers was at the door, with only two staff members working. The staff worked very hard, and did the best they could, but it was completely inappropriate the number of bookings at U-Haul corporate tried to put through that location. Day. There were not enough vehicles. There were customers screaming and cursing, it was started to rain, people were standing outside in the rain It is disgusting how a big Corporation tries to shove as many customers through in a day, completely neglecting customer service. I will never be renting from U-Haul again.

Every time I've went to the counter, because there is often only one attendant, the wait time is very long, this isn't good service for that reason, the attendants are great but can only answer to one at a time, there should be at least 2 at all times. Today I went in to enquirer about movers, price and availability, but left after 15-20 min as there must of been 6-to 8 people to server before me. And things were not moving at all.

The equipement was fine, except for the truck cab smelling like an ashtray. What caused me to rate this experience as horrible is the service i got from one of the employees at checkin. When i arrived at my prearranged time, i waited for over 40 minutes in line, which reduced my planned moving time but that much, so when i asked if the clock would start now i was told "we cannot plan for long lineups so we do not take responsibility for that" so i basically paid the same price but for t hours. I dont think that is legal, but i accepted since i had no choice. Then i was asked to get an emergency contact to answer the phone, i questionned its importance and was quickly reprimanded by the staff member. She made sure i understood this was important because they are renting me expensive equipment (eventhough i gave them my credit card, am taking the insurance they recommend, etc). I commented that perhaps they should let people know in advance so that the contact can be ready. I was blamed for not having eavesdropoed on other client conversations. I should have know this would be asked since the clients before me did it. I have worked many years in the service industry, and the only time i ever encountered someone so direspectful and agressive was with discruntled customers, not staff. This is not a storeqide thing. The other two enployees were absolutely wonderful to work with. I only feel bad for them as they have to deal with her every day. Anyway, i will pay more to another company before i ever go back to that nasty lady. So, 1) arrive 30-40 minutes early i order to have your truck for the agreed upon duration (they will mot honour this) 2)be veey compliant. Only speak when spoken to, dont ask questions thst may be out of line and have all paper work and emergency contact available or you will be sorry!

On the evening of pick up, the employer was very frustrated as our rental had been pushed back (by the company) at closing time. He was ok, obviously overwhelmed and understaffed, but there was obviously an organization issue. At drop off, it was 1 in the afternoon, there was a hand written note in the door saying 'be back in 10 minutes'. It was not a bad experience in itself, truck worked well no problem, but some things could definetly be worked on.

Nous avions une réservation à 10h. Nous sommes arrivés un peu d'avance et nous étions les premiers en ligne. Malgré tout, la fille qui servait a passé trois autres personnes avant nous, qui étaient derrière nous dans la file, pour aucune raison apparente. Nous avons donc du attendre qu'elle se décide à nous servir. Finalement, lorsqu'elle est arrivée à nous, elle nous a simplement dit que nous devions aller dehors en premier. Nous avons disposé de très peu d'aide tout au long du processus et cela a été très long de s'enregistrer malgré le fait que nous avions réservé en ligne et déjà entré toutes les informations. Finalement, nous sommes repartis un peu après midi, ce qui est complètement ridicule compte-tenu du fait que nous avions une réservation à 10h.

I booked everything in English, I requested a van in Ottawa near my post code. I then received and email saying I had to go to Gatineau which is very far from my house . I don’t speak French. Since pick up, every email I be received from Uhaul has been in French, I don’t speak French so why am I getting French emails when I booked it in English?? Seems very odd.

The floors are in such bad condition that I busted one of the wheels on a large unit I was pushing. It's also too bad that I can't access my storage after 7:00pm. Otherwise everything else was fine.

reservation went well with Arrianne, but when I picked up my trailer, the other lady was not nice, even rude, when I showed my reservation paper she said I don't wont it I want your name, , I was 30 minutes late , she had cancelled the reservation and gave me a speech about not being on time and compared it to a Doctor appointment, (She said the same thing to the next costumer.) I was able to get a trailer , everything was excellent except her attitude.

As usual I am very fond of communication with the personnel in this U-haul location. I took a trailer and had communication with officer Daniel and manager Tania. Besides friendly attitude Daniel promptly takes care about everything; if the need arises he helps as driver to park the vehicle with trailer to detached it, which is very in time if one is not very experiences with that.Tania is very good at organizing the team, to safeguard that everything in the location goes well and is kept in order, and every customer is served nicely. And do not forget they seem to have the largest inventory in the area. Thanks again!

If we call ahead of time and make arrangement via the phone, the person at the location should be informed and expecting us to arrive and already be prepare to finalized the contract. It was done in a good fashion but if you wanted to improve i would suggest be more proactive. the service was still good but could have been enhanced as amazing!

Not allowed to drop off vehicle at U=Haul immediately after use and closed hours as advertised online. Don't understand why cannot use personal vehicle insurance to cover rental unit. Otherwise, great service....
