It would have been nice if it was better lit so we could get into the unit at night. When first signing up, the office was a mess but Tiffany was great. She wery helpful and explained things clearly. When moving everything out of our unit, the gate was broken so it was left open. We took a few trips to get it all out to our new home but when we went back for another load, a UHaul truck was blocking the opened gate, forcing us to walk to our unit and hand carry everything back to our car and our unit was pretty far back . Easy-peasy seamless experience. Tiffany handled the reservation and pick up of the van. Return was after hours and was Much easier than the same transaction in the spring.Gail R.
This was not an ideal experience. I booked online last Saturday/Sunday to get a 15ft. truck and appliance dolly for 10/31/20 9am-3pm, got a call mid-week from the local store agent confirming information etc. She mentioned the truck was due back Friday and as such couldn't guarantee a self check-in for Saturday and to come into the office at 9am on Saturday to get the truck, She said if the truck was returned sooner she'd call so I know if I should just check in via the app. I didn't hear anything so Saturday morning we go and at 9am enter the store. The local agents were helping other customers already outside so we waited. The lady (same one who called me back to confirm) came in and said "Oh you can self check in" after I supplied my name. I paid for a mattress bag, and started the check in on my app. Took a selfie (in the store and with a mask on because it's mandated by NJ), took my front/back driverslicense picture and started making my way out the office to the truck waiting. I approved the info on my app check in and it got to a "Agent needs to approve" page and the male employee runs up and says "Here's your keys, be safe" and I get in the truck and start it up etc. App still hanging. I started on my way as my girlfriend who dropped me off to get the truck had started her way to my apartment in Collingswood, NJ. I get going and the whole time the app is still at that say screen. I see an option to "chat with agent" but I'm driving so I can't. I stop at a light close the app, reopen and it goes back to that screen and same thing. I leave it on my work iphone open waiting for it to change. I get almost halfway to my apartment and get a call from the local office agent lady basically saying I left the property with the truck without completing the check in. I explain what happened as I noted above, and she's very like well you got the truck and you didnt complete the check in and didnt have a formal agreement with them to rent the truck. I said well how do we fix that? Your co-worker gave me a key and implied I was good to go, nothing on any signage in the store or on the app says do not leave even with the keys provided until the app self check in completes. I asked how we fix this she says she's not familiar with the self check in and that's a different department and has customers to address in the store. I said I'm driving and once I get to my place I'll chat via the option on the page in the app then call her back. Next red light I quickly send a message through the app saying essentially the app is hanging I need to complete as I was given the keys and almost at my apartment to begin my move. It was about 10-15 mins later as I arrived at my apartment that my girlfriend who I listed as my alernate contact was called by what appeared to be a U-Haul customer service agent not at the local store. She put us on speakerphone so I could speak to them. I did not get any other calls from U-Haul to my phone since the one while driving which was odd they then called my alternate contact. At the same time I see a note in the app saying "Upload selfie without mask", so I tell the lady on the phone that and she encourages me to complete through the app as "taking the vehicle off the lot without an agreement/self check in complete they could have reported the truck stolen" she was nice about it but legit I would have been one of the most angry customers in your history if I got stopped for stolen vehicle for this. I proceed through the rest of the check in filling in the mileage, gas status, confirming existing damage pics etc and finally see the app complete and tell me we're good. The lady on the phone said she'd credit $50 reservation fee for the inconvenience and says they shouldn't have given me the key until after the check in. She was super nice and helpful. I did what I needed and before I returned the truck I called the local office again asking if i needed to fill the gas all the way to full because I got it at half a tank and again no clear info for stuff like gas easily found. She said that I could return it without getting my own gas and they'd charge $3.70 a gallon, I figured ok. That was $21 for EZ Fill which seemed off because I legit did 24 mile round trip and 3 gallons seemed a lot for that but whatever. Self return via the app was the easiest part of the whole U-Haul process, parked in the returned equipment spot, followed the instructions on the app to take the required pictures of the mileage, gas gauge, cab and storage area cleanliness and returned the key in the 24/7 box. I got my email confirming the a $160 total cost (initial quote email was $140 and being charged $140 already by U-Haul hoping it's not another $160 or I'll be angry about that too).David S.

I originally reserved a 10 foot truck 2 weeks ago. The pick up location changed a few days before my pickup. Then it changed 1 hour before my pickup. Then when I went to 32 Church Road Maple Shade NJ, I had to wait 20 minutes to get service. Then I was told I had no reservation and no truck. My experience with the location itself was fine, but I had an issue when booking the rental. Initially picked a location that was closest to me and received and email confirmation that this was my pick up and drop off location. A few days later when I was prompted to do my online check in, the locations were different and much further away. I called a few different locations that were closer and they didn't have my truck available. When I asked 1 of the employees why I was able to select a location online that wasn't available the person said that the website basically lets people Choose whatever they want and then they are informed of the change later. This is extremely inconvenient and ended up costing me way more because of how far the location was. Also, A feature allowing customers to drop off at a different location would be appreciated because U-Haul has so many and during these times, everyone is trying to save their pennies.Amber H.

I liked the Ford Van rental I had. The only concern I had is that the maint team needed to use the spare tire for the van so that I could use it, but they didn't not have a spare, spare. So I drove the van without a spare. This might have caused an issue if I was stranded and could not use the spare. Thank you for your time.Paul K.

Rented a cargo van for $19.99, had it less than 2 hours and the bill totaled $98. I estimated the miles when the vehicle was picked up and the employee didn't check on the miles used at return. I thought I would get a refund for unused miles. When I asked her to check the miles, she said it didn't matter. She then checked her computer and said I used the same exact amount that I estimated, without actually checking the vehicle. I find that a little amazing and kind of unbelievable, that I used the EXACT amount of miles that I guessed at. So overall, it rental was way more than I expected to pay.Linda C.

My house currently caught on fire. I reserved a truck and a U-Haul from this location. In the process of moving everything out I return the truck three hours late.
