The service was very fast and simple, especially at drop off. My only concern was that my rates were changed between signing my contract to when I received my receipt, with no consultation, or even making me aware prior to charging me.

The staff at the physical location were reasonable. The online experience was absolutely horrible. I called multiple times to confirm and was given erroneous information (i.e., they provided me with confirmation that my truck would be available at a given time at a given location; thereafter, I received an email indicating that the truck was 60 min further away). Moreover, my call was dropped while waiting for a response from the 1-800 around 7 times during the process.

I got parking violation notices when parked for the three days I had rentals in the St. Laurent overflow area. We are directed to park there as no parking is available on the lot. If I end up with a ticket or towed in the future, I will send U-Haul Coventry the bill since they are the ones who direct clients to park there.

Tell them that you don't have to go inside and avoid the line when returning a vehicle, the guy on the lot can provide the receipt.

We had a minor incident during which a dolly I had reserved was not available at the time of pick up. Initially, the clerks were unsympathetic and told me I should have reserved ahead of time. I told them I had. When I said that not having the dolly would make our move impossible, I was told there was nothing that could be done. I was then offered an upright dolly instead of the furniture dolly that I needed. When I got upset, the senior clerk finally made the effort to call other uhaul locations to see if another dolly was available. In the end, he found a flat dolly somewhere in the store for me. I appreciated the effort but I was displeased by the initial attitude 'too bad for you,' especially when I completely understood that the kind of dolly I needed hadn't been returned yet. All I expected was kindness and an effort to find a suitable substitute, and not to be made to feel like it didn't matter to Uhaul that I have the right equipment for our move. Other than that bump, the staff was excellent and we went back to Uhaul three days later to rent from them again.

I didn't get the dolly that I rented at the pick up at Coventry, i hope they are not gonna blame me, and charge me for it, Due to the circumstances... I'll explain myself, I rented the truck and make the arrangements, I am a woman, I put my 2 brothers as drivers and Mathieu is the one that paid for it, when we got to our destination, It was my place, so I opened it up, boys took care of open it up and start placing the furnitures in, and I took care of boxes inside, they were 3 strong guys they didnt need the dolly and it never cross my mind that they did not use it or not. We brought it back on the 16th at 14:55 and there was no one there, my brother called, the lady advised where to put the keys and he dropped keys off as well as the paperwork as instructed, he also filled up the tank to the indicated level. Only when they guy called from Lac-Megantic, and he asked me where was the dolly I realized we never had one, and I asked my brother and he said there was none at the pick up. Thanks to take this in consideration. Regards

Hire staff that understand f#@$ing customer service and can actually empathize with them. Took up to 30 min per customer thats INSANE. I spent almost an 1Hour and half in line with 3 people infront me. When i get up to the employee he asks : what are your needs? I say : either a 15 footer or a 10 feet. He says : sorry everything is reserved. What kind of ducking employee doesnt tell there customers every 15 min or si : Sorry but if you don't have a reservation we are out of trucks. In no way shape or form did he atleast try to call another god damn store to get me a truck. Ps : your site sucks, didnt let me insert Quebec as a province so i couldn't reserve. I hope you have a shitty summer

I was happy with the entire process today. I felt the pick up could have been faster - I registered online and I thought it would be a faster pick-up. I maybe misunderstood the statement that by registering online I was only a card swipe from picking up the vehicle

The sign in process seemed poorly controlled. I had gone through web check in, and when i was confirmed two other customers came out of the line with the keys to my truck! They had been given it instead of me. Took me about an extra hour to leave in a different truck.

The whole process to pick up a trailer took 30 mins when all they needed was drivers licence information, emergency contact info, and payement. The guy who was checking us in had to personally leave to figure out which trailer was most accessible. There are many ways to improve the efficiency of this process and it’s frustrating to have to wait so long for a simple trailer.

One person in the counter, auto pick up is not available nor working, spend 1 hour ans 20 minutes in queue, customer service was rude and cursing, mumbling...I was supposed to pick up truck at 8 am, arrived at 7:45, finally got the truck at 9 am. Worst experience

I don't want to exaggerate this, this was one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had! It took almost 90 minutes to get the truck off the lot. The mobile experience was a DISASTER. Two separate customer service reps through the chat proved to be incapable of solving the problem. Had to go in to the store, they were somehow worse. Seemed like it was 5 people working their first day on the job. Awful. Nothing worked, no apologies, ate up an hour of my rental. Still dropped the truck off 4 hours early because I was excited to be done dealing with uhaul. Again, I hope you don't think I'm exaggerating. This was the worst display of unprofessional incompetence I've ever seen. The only exception was when we dropped the truck off the guy working the lot was great. He was quick and friendly and personable but he was the only positive part of the entire experience. I have lots more moving to do but i will look elsewhere for help.

The service was appalling. I arrived at 8:10 and went to get my equipment at 9:35 that is 1 hour and 30 minutes in line and 5 minutes at the desk. There was only 1 person checking people in and 15 people ahead of me. No express line. After 15 minutes a 2nd person joined the service counter and then after 45 minutes a 3rd a 4th person joined after an hour but no improvement as one or more of the other agents left the desk regularly to go outside. 15 minutes before I got served they created an express line however they did not ensure those waiting were served first it was whomever could run faster to that line. They indicated what people had to have done to stand in the line and said if they had not they would return them to the correct place however they did not follow through on this. The equipment was good worked fine etc. I do not like getting the truck not full however because returning it at the same level is very tricky and I am convinced this is done so that you gain on fuel. Finally I asked for my receipt to be emailed to me which it was not and I had to call U-Haul which took me 7 minutes to navigate the system and security to get it emailed to me. All in all this was a horrible experience which I hope I never have to repeat. I did rent from here in March of this year and had a bit of the problem with the line waiting 30 minutes however I did thought they just had a staffing issue that was not ongoing.

Charged and charged and charged and charged.... you wind up paying astronomical fees for no good reason, well beyond the contract. We topped up the tank as required and then charged another $110 because I brought the truck back to the location of pick up rather than a location 50km away because we got a storage unit. No one can think their way through a problem and be reasonable. Uhaul can ruin your moving experience.

Attendant asked the same questions I had already answered on the website making pickup time last much longer than needed... was already behind schedule and waited in line 20 minutes while the same drawn out procedure was used on two customers ahead of me. Really painful experience actually... what is the point of booking and answering all of the questions online????

The location had one person working and he was very rude with a line up of customers. It took extremely long to get the Truck. The employees last name was Myers. He was slow and kept getting annoyed when asked about the wait or even about a manager. I will not go back to this location or recommend it.

I've rated this average simply because I don't think there are any other renters with such a large inventory of trucks for rent. However, they also seem to know they have somewhat of a monopoly because the place is grossly understaffed. The staff seem stressed and a bit sarcastic, but working hard to please. We arrived at 10:10 and waited in line for 20 minutes to deal with the one person at the desk. There were at least 5 customers behind us. The first truck offered had one bald tire which we were told "would be fine because you're only driving in the city". We insisted, so, another 15 minutes later we were on the road. Truck was clean and A/C worked which was really important that day. Yes, I would rent from these guys again, but only until some competition opens up and then maybe they will care about customer service a little better.

The most generous smile and kind, helpful nature of Phil, the fellow who helped us was so very much appreciated. After a nine hour day of driving, we were just exhausted and Phil jumped in wherever we needed his assistance. I cannot emphasize enough how his attention and service buoyed our spirits. "Return truck" link on the website does NOT work at all. Tried multiple times on iOS -- Safari, Chrome, Firefox Focus. It fails sometime through the process after taking a photo and keeps asking to login. Despite logging it, it asks to log in again. Does NOT work. Thankfully return went fine with just dropping the key in the drop box. Thanks!

There was significant damage to one fender and a rear taillight when I picked up the trailer. It was noted in photographs that I was able to verify, but it would have been better if that process was explained to me at the front desk before I went to the yard for pickup.

Made a reservation and checked in online for pickup on the Coventry Road location in Ottawa.. When I arrived there was no express line and only one agent dealing with customers ,although there were many other uhaul employees around but all appeared totally disinterested in serving customers including the manager even though the single line was exceedingly long. The one customer agent was very slow and made no attempt to speed things up. Any distraction that occurred seemed to take priority over serving customers. In the end I had to wait over an hour to pick up my trailer. These people know nothing about customer service probably because the organization has not trained them. I would never go to this location if there were an alternative company in this area. I have heard other customers say the same thing while waiting excessively in line. If there was any competition in this area this place would be out of business. I also asked for my $50 late delivery payment advertised on the haul web site and no one there including the manager had heard about it. They told me to go back to the web site for payment. If this location is like all other uhaul depots the executives in uhaul need to be replaced with people who care about customer service.

After having my chosen date for the hitch installation confirmed, I received noticed that it was changed without my consent. After having spoken and communicated with the call centre I was supposed to be called by the location to make arrangements. They never called back. I insisted to talk to the location. They eventually accepted the initial install date but not without much argument. Lines at the location are always long and information always needs to be repeated eventhough I filled everything on line. Everyone in the line had similar complaints about missed commitment dates, and unavailable stock on scheduled dates. Just horrible customer service.

Answer the phone when people call. It’s ridiculous that I have to drive to this location wait in line 45 minutes just to ask a simple question. Also when you get given your rental keys it would be nice that someone actually shows you where your truck is. I had to wander around the yard and help myself.

I have two pieces of specific feedback .. one - it should be made clear somewhere during the rental process that U-HAUL does not rent trucks with loading dock height. I rented a 26' truck assuming it had the requisite height and had to return the truck an hour later when it was clear it didn't. the second issue was the the A/C was not working. The rental experience itself was efficient, but it was ultimately a waste of money for me.

Truck had litter on the front dash. The truck was parked in the very back and it was a big ordeal trying to get somebody to come and move the other trucks out of the way that were blocking our truck. The whole mobile pickup process was also a disaster. Delayed us by over an hour due to bad instructions. They also never supplied us with the packing blankets as we had requested and paid for.

Improve your vehicle inspection process!! Vehicle was picked up during heavy rain. Make inspections with customer mandatory before keys are handed over regardless of the weather. Vehicle was returned with no incident on site. However a $1000 repair was found after the fact and even though witnesses were available to prove that the last driver did not cause the damage, it required a return visit to plead our case and get the the issue dropped.

My suggestion would be to have more staff on a very busy day. That said, the lady at the counter was courteous, friendly and professional. The gentleman, at the return end, was very nice and funny, helped to relieve the stress of the day. He’s great.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. When I showed up to pick up the rental, i was told that pickup had been moved to another location. Once at the new location, I was told the model I had reserved was unavailable at the time for which I'd reserved it. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TRUCK AVAILABLE AT A GIVEN TIME AND PLACE, DON'T ALLOW IT TO BE BOOKED AT THAT TIME AND PLACE. This seems like it would be common sense.

The speed of processing customers was appaulling. After spending 45 minutes in line some guy walked in with an appointment for a hitch and was fast tracked in front of all the people in line. People in line complained but were told” dont start that”. I think the staff needs to be trainned in proper use of the system and client P.R. I certainly will never use that store location again. Total mayhem!

Once location was established, renting experience was great, but getting to that point was whole another story. I've made a reservation 12 days in advance with another location for certain time/day , but that was cancelled after a day. Not only that pickup location was changed, pickup time was changed as well. Problem is that every local phone call is transferred remotely, (Arizona, Montreal etc) and it seams that their system is not completely in sync all the time. Very frustrating. Had to make 5 calls all together. Employees at the Coventry location in Ottawa, ON are helpful, quick and professional

The trailer I was given had a flat tire... They had to change it, it took about 45 minutes. Had to call U-haul to negotiate an hour more on my reservation, it wasn't offered, an hour was given and a minute more was out of question. They simply should inspect their material in the morning before people come and pick it up, simple as that... Plus employees should go faster, service is so slow.

1km from the pick up location the plastic bumper guard fell off the front of the truck and I dragged it for a block before I had to stop in traffic. 1 block later the brake alarm went off and I had to pull over and call road side assistance. I had to wait over 20 minutes to get someone by phone. I reset the alarm, as instructed, and throughout my 60 km journey I had to deal with repeated brake alarm malfunctions. I returned the vehicle and explained the situation to an attendant who had no interest in what I had to tell him about the problems with the truck. I paid my bill and left.

I made a reservation months before I was moving and had checked in online in advance which was supposed to allow me to skip the line. When I arrived 30 minutes before my reservation time, although there was a sticker next to their front door telling people to check in online to skip the line, I was told there was no express lane. When I finally made it to the start of the line, I was told that there were no trucks in the size I reserved but that one would be back in 15 minutes and I was first in line to get it. When it was announced that a truck in that size had arrived, it was given to a group who arrived later than I did and who’s reservation was 30 minutes after mine. I did not get a truck until exactly 2 hours after my reservation time and missed my move in time period.

Each customer took more than 10 minutes to process and only 1 person at counter. Person at counter was nice and courteous. Also I requested pickup in Stittsville the morning of my rental day, and drop off in Renfrew. I was forced to pick up at this conventry location in the evening of my rental day, and drop off in Eganville. Then you charged me extra milage. Well no wonder... Pretty much never rent from uhaul after this and my last experience where I was wrongly charged on my credit card for late fees, and uhaul refunded me, the uhaul contractor re-charged my card, leaving me with minimal balance for over a month.

I made a reservation for a certain location. I received confirmation that my reservation was confirmed. When I showed up at that location, and after having waited in line for close to an hour, I was told that my pick up location had changed. No prior notification of the change of location had been sent by the company. When I explained to the employee that I had movers waiting and that this was totally unacceptable, I only received a shrug. I then had to rush to the other location, which by the way was not even in my neighbourhood and wait another 30 minutes. Once I got to the counter at the second location, the experience was professional and efficient. Overall experience has convinced me to use another company next time.

When I pre-paid online and did an early check-in, the site led me to believe that my experience time at the pick-up site would be shorter by having done so. This was not the case. We waited in line with everyone else (whether they had pre-paid or not). The line-up took about 50 minutes.

Customers should be advised that they might have to wait in line for over 1 hour to get the keys to their vehicle on the day of the reservation. This is what happen to us and we were told by the U-Haul employee we spoke to that this is a regular occurrence. Also, U-Haul should provide parking for customers on premises. This location forces clients to park their cars at the shopping mall (10 minute walk away). Not only is this extremely frustrating but also completely illegal. 0 stars.

We were on site over an hour, waiting to be served at the counter. Only one employee working the rental desk and a very very slow computer. The line had 3 people ahead of us. Then he took other people who had ‘appointments’. We had an appointment to pick it up! I’m not impressed! Fortunately the apartment manager let us have the elevator longer, because we were late for our move out time. The young man on the lot was very quick, helpful and courteous.

I’m really not one to write reviews and complain but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any business in my life. For what was supposed to be a cell phone easy pick up, meant standing in line with a dozen people furious customers for an hour, then having to fight and argue to get a vehicle. Not the type I reserved but just SOMETHING. I’ve never seen a business so poorly staffed in numbers and in service. Return process was a mess too. I will use Penske, Budget, ANYONE before I ever rent from U-Haul again. Seems like everyone there had a terrible experience. Everything about this sucked. So so much.

The check in time was way too long. One associate helping customers is not enough. I waited over 20 minutes in a line up. The van smelled like BO and cigarettes. Other than that the staff are helpful and friendly.

I booked online. Then I walked in and in 12 minutes I had my rental and was on my way. Drop off took less than 4 minutes! Who could ask for better?

Have more staff available at busy times. Wait for a pre booked van was 35 minutes. Staff did a great job but could have used one more. Line up was 10 deep.

Staff and everything were great, but sometimes had to wait in line because there was only one person working the counter. (And twice when I went to buy boxes before the rental, they were sold-out of the small ones so I had to come back another day.)

The location is fine but the worst part is the first the rental part, contact as it is very slow. It takes between 30 min to 45 min to get a rental and it should be cut down to 5min to max 10min. I have usually seen one person working and usually online check in does not work.

I did the online "express" check out but there were only two stations open behind the counter and the two customers at the counter were taking forever. I had to wait 20 minutes before the staff got to me. There were four stations at the counter but only two staff on duty. The service I got was friendly and efficient but I wasn't impressed with the time I had to wait before being served.

trailer was fine - booking experience poor - on web booking you let me select a location near me - and then call me an tell me the trailer is at a whole other location - far from where i booked - also too much upsell and every turn - seems a bit greasy

The truck I reserved was not scheduled to return to U-Haul until my pick up time, leaving no margin of error. The return was 10 minutes late putting me about 30 minutes late once the truck was checked and my paperwork completed. The staff at the location were helpful and professional about the delay, but it should never have been booked with no marking for error.

Reserved a dolly for my move then was informed that they rented it out to somebody else. Was told they are rented first-come-first-served, regardless of reservation, which utterly defeats the purpose.

Forced to take a large storage after reserving a small, credit card was not billed and was forced to pay a late fee even though the office staff messed up. Staff are not friendly. Not using again

Please update your point of sale card readers to accept chips. Using machines that only swipe cards triggers fraud alerts for TD Bank since most Canadian businesses use swipe-only card readers.

I am appalled by what's happened to my personal belongings at this storage facility. 75% of my items (most valuable!) were bitten into and damaged by mice urine and feces. Missing basic pest control!
