The staff, and UHAUL, have to do a better job of making the experience of being a part of the UHAUL community worth it. Especially from the consumer stand point. The experience I have had at UHAUL of Park Slope has been uncomfortable. And at times, quite prickly, and indifferent. A team member gave my key card to one of my staffers without informing me. That is lazy and in direct communication. Which in sum is a lack of effort. Maybe the UHAUL team feels a little pushed to the side with a new person less system that keeps labor cost down. Most times in these situations team members can take more short cuts as a form of rebellion. Which is dangerous for any brand, or service based business. Overall, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! They made a huge difference and were very knowledgeable. However, there was way too much work on my part as a customer via the app and QR code check in/check out process. This should not be the responsibility of untrained, paying customers to complete formal checks of the vehicle prior to and post reservation. It is effectively UHAUL offloading their paid labor to unpaid customers. Respectfully, UHAUL should hire more people who need decent good paying jobs and these folks can do the work that is now expected of me via my own phone.Adam P.

A little bit more explanation and ease in finding the vehicle, the letters and numbers painted on the parking lot ground were very faded so it was a bit difficult to find the van. Having someone repaint or having an employee walk you to the vehicle would be much better.Elena M.

I went to two other locations and both of them where disastrous. The first place on Clarkson avenue , where I originally place my reservation, disregarded me after the told me that my truck did not return from the previous customer. I did not receive any type of communication, that my truck was not going to be there. They sent me to another location on kings hwy and told me they had a truck for me. But kings hwy could not accommodate me, so I went back to Clarkson location , and he referred me to a 1800 number that I had to call several times because the operator wait was 30 minutes and she kept connecting me to other people who where not available and went straight to a voice mail. 4th avenue location was very professional and well organized unlike the two other locations.Charles W.

Since there is no other place to put this, I'll leave the feedback here. The pick up and drop off went very well and I have no complaints. The online experience was abysmal. I asked for insurance when I created my order, but it did not appear when the order went through. I called the Uhaul support line and they said they couldn't add it, that it could only be added at the desk of the pick up. I was going after hours, so I couldn't add at pick up. They said I could add on the app. I was unable to download a working version of the app onto my iPhone SE. We had to download onto my wife's iPhone X and enter my username and password there. There was still no clear way to buy insurance. I finally called the office of the location where I was picking up and they added the insurance over the phone. I got a notice from Uhaul that I could get a free trailer with my order. I didn't respond to the offer, but it was communicated to the pick up location that I did want a trailer, so I had to cancel that with them. Because I was picking up after hours I needed a code to the lock box where the key was kept. I asked a number of times how I was supposed to get the code, but no one seemed very sure. One person speculated that the app would recognize when we arrived because of the location services associated with it and send it automatically. That did not happen. Luckily, the employees at the pick up location left the key for us in another location where we were able to get it without the code. At drop off the individual receiving the truck and I tried to check the truck in on the Uhaul website, but neither of us was able to do so successfully because the website kept routing us to the wrong page. Again, the pick up and drop off went great and they employees on the ground were helpful, friendly and competent. The online experience needs a lot of improvement.Nicholas S.

The first truck we were given had a check engine light, but once we were able to get someone to help us (which took asking a few times -- the person at the front desk was not all that proactive in wanting to help) we were able to get the truck swapped out quickly. I had a terrible experience. the first location i went to gave me a broken van. they had no other van for me despite my reservation. i had to travel to another location and wait in a line to get a new van, which was over 45 minutes walking distance away. i may demand a refund overallAMELIAPERRY H.

I would have rated this excellent and my issue isn't with the staff or location. I fueled the truck to full in New Jersey to avoid the fuel costs in New York and also to save time. I didn't use as much of it as I anticipated and it costs me about $80 for the half tank as it was already at half a tank at pick up. I feel that if I'm charged almost $8 a gallon if I return the truck below half a tank it would be reasonable to be compensated if I return the truck with almost a full tank for whatever the difference may be, this may not be a big deal to some folks but a gallon of gas is more than the minimum wage in some places, like New Jersey. When I called the 1800 number, it felt way too aggressive with the operator who tried making a reservation when I wasn't ready. I almost went with another rental company. The staff at the location seemed indifferent, but it took longer than expected to go through the phone prompts to verify mileage and previous damage (about 30 min from arriving to leaving), but no major issues.Corey K.

The woman at the counter was not pleasant, I asked about some options and she seemed put upon that I would even ask about renting a ramp. There was garbage still in the truck when I received it. The seat was broken and could not shift up easily, I needed to get help pushing up the seat so I could drive. The check engine line was on. It really set a tone for an already stressful day.Jean C.

Your app/user experience is really bad. 50% of the time after I book a 24/7 online, something is wrong and I need to go inside and redo all of the information. It's fourth extra steps that I needed. I am only rating the rental location as a 1-star because the service I had before getting there was awful. I had originally booked to pick up the U-Haul at another location, however, I received a notification a week prior that the location had changed. On the day that I arrived to the new location (1143 Clarkson Avenue) - very early in the morning, mind you - I was told that U-Haul did not have my reserved vehicle for me. I had to contact customer service ASAP as I was on a deadline. From there, the location changed again to the 394 4th Ave address. I received no prior notification that the address had changed and had to waste my entire morning running around the city to find this new location. It was an unexpected ordeal that totally ruined the moving day experience.Thomas C.

The facility is great. Clean, climate controlled, easy to navigate, wide aisles. The free use of dollies is a life (and back) saver. Once I figured out the check-in, elevator use process, it was smooth sailing. I don't recall being informed that I would receive instructions in an email. This is no reflection on your rep. Marybeth was great. Patient, thorough, professional. I just don't recall being informed about the instructions email. Had I known, I would not have experienced the frustration caused by the delay in completing my move due to not being able to use the elevators. I am grateful to the Park Slope location Manager, Amanda, who was gracious enough to answer my call for assistance with texted instructions. A+ Lastly, I did experience some problems with the card reader in the elevators. At times it would not recognize my information even though I had already checked in. In the final analysis, your products are great, convenient, and very much needed. Moving is so stressful, moving in a time crunch is a nightmare. The alarms constantly going off is insane and extremely unpleasant. I’ve been in and out of the facility on various occasions and this is an ongoing problem, not a one time thing. Besides being extremely unpleasant, there is no point in having alarms if the entire staff has been trained to ignore them. (Which is exactly what they told me to do) I also think you need some sort of trash removal service.
