There were 2 employees on a Saturday around 3:30 pm, one at the counter and the other to hook up the equipment. The lady seemed she was having a hard time contacting her superior and was frustrated with the amount of clients waiting while the man took his break, which he was very adamant about. We were originally rented the wrong equipment (car dolly), we needed the 2 wheel, so we went back to the desk. She switched the equipment in the system. We went "out back" and honked as instructed. That would alert the man that we were ready to be hooked up. We waited 10 mins, went back in front and she texted him. We went and parked by the only 2 wheel dolly on the lot (in front after continuously being told it was out back), and waited 20 more minutes for the man to walk out from the back to hook us up. We didn't pull off the lot until 4:20! We were there for nearly an hour just trying to get a small piece of equipment. We were more than upset. It seemed he had no interest in helping customers, he just wanted his break. I nearly felt bad for the lady up front, but we didn't wait hardly at all for her assistance, our time was spent waiting outside with 2 antsy children for someone who couldn't wait 5 minutes to take a break and help customers.BRANDY P.

I rented 4 units for several months getting ready to move cross country before finally renting a trailer to complete the move. During that time I had the opportunity to work with the entire staff at one time or another from moving in, purchasing moving supplies, coordinating my movers for the load out, and renting trucks and trailers. Everyone was always polite, kind, professional, and willing to go the extra little bit to make sure that I had everything I needed and was able to get done what I needed to be able to move and store my belongings. From the GM (Casey) on down it was a wonderful experience and made at least one part of moving convenient and hassle free. When I arrived to pick up my trailer the shop was open but there were no employees present. I waited for 5 minutes or so and eventually two female employees came in. One helped the other person who was waiting in line in front of me. The other employee sat down at the desk and ignored me while eating her breakfast. She asked the employee who was helping a customer if she wanted a soda and then left the store to go get one. I had to wait 15 minutes before I could sign out the trailer and then had to wait even longer to get the trailer checked because only one employee was working.COURTNEY E.
I reserved a 20 ft for a one way trip from sanford to Snead ferry the day of pick up the reservation was processed wrong. My pick was scheduled for 1430 we actually left the u haul at 1730 3 hrs late with the wrong item a 6x 12 box trailerâ€¦. My reservation was switched three times 1.Spring Valley location my vehicle was not available.( u-Haul agent book me a new reservation 20 minutes out of my way) Arrived and the vehicle was not there as well:( call customer service the gentleman was not customer friendly at allâ€¦ Barely even accommodating :( Book me my3 rd reservation 45 minutes in the opposite direction. And told me someone will give me a call (STILL WAITING) and he would indicate what had happened â€¦once I arrive to the Sanford location :( they knew nothing NOTHING WAS IN THE NOTEJACINTA J.
First truck I pre-ordered on 6/15 for a pickup date of 8/11 was not available. Then they gave me a truck from the Samford location which was an extra 30 minute drive for me. The last issue was while driving the truck 1600 miles I found that if I did over 60 mph the front end of the truck shimmied extremely badly. I had put above average rating, but there are 2 huge issues I have to note, and after writing them out I dropped it to average. 1) the alarm in the storage area. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or rain why it goes off, but I was there laying for 2 hours and it seemed to go off every 5 minutes. It's ear piercing, which is good, but when there are several people logged into the system, it shouldn't go off that much. 2) I didn't expect to be as tall as the ceiling in the locker. Very low height, and one has a pole right snack dab in the middle. That made loading furniture difficult. If I only had that locker, would've been impossible. Clean, well lit facility. Friendly staff. Lockers were supposed to be picked for me before I returned with my stuff, but weren't. I love the customer service and friendly clean atmosphere. However, if I had to make suggestions it would be to get the alarm that goes off periodically fix. It is very loud and because my locker is very near to it, I am blasted by the alarm going off frequently. Not only is it insanely loud but it's frightening to people passing by not realizing there is an issue with the alarm. I was not thrilled with my customer service experience. The day I moved in I stated I would be out of state and did not need 24 access only for the next 2 days to bring my stuff into the facility. I had trucks and people to help me unload my house and put it into storage it would have taken hours. I got there and was locked out. So my man power and trucks had to go to work. So it took me 4 ,12 hour days. I was late moving had to rent a truck and lost 3 days of work. The GM told me that they already compensated me with a free month of storage so she did not give any more. I lost over 600 just in salary not to mention the truck rental which I had to get somewhere else no deals cut. All from misinformation about access. I was very disappointed with my service. I made the original reservation a week in advance for a 26ft truck to be picked up In Sanford. The Day before my move, upon receiving the confirmation text I was informed that the rental truck was located 40 minutes away. I spent the whole day trying to have this rectified, and after 5pm was contacted by dispatch to confirm a 26ft truck was scheduled for me at the Sanford location as planned. The next morning (day of rental), I was contacted and informed that the location only had a 15ft truck and a trailer for me. This was absolutely ridiculous; no one should have to go thru or endure this type of experience when they are already frantic about moving. This experience with Uhaul was absolutely deplorable, and I will most certainly explore other options when needing a rental for future moves.Desiree M.
I was forced to drive 45 min to the city I was moving to because the pick up location (5 min from the house I moved from) called to tell me they didn't have a truck. The rep called the day before. U-haul is a horrible company that doesn't value their customers nor do they make it easy or convenient for anyone but the employees. If there isn't a truck/ equipment at the pick up location but there is at a location with 50 miles, why is the company not responsible for moving that truck/ equipment to the agreed upon pick up location? It's ridiculous that your company can get away with that for the amount you charge. Have some decency and do what's right for your customers. I would fire everyone from the too down and create a training program that invites customers instead of pushing them away. I will not be using your business again, the cost of professional movers is worth it to never step in any u-haul again.MARK G.

Was charged for things we did not receive. Got a MUCH smaller truck than what was reserved. We needed to make a second trip due to truck size. Was yelled at and talked down to by the "Manager" when I called to ensure we would not be charged for missing equipment (ordered a dolly and moving blankets) and larger truck, but most importantly, the mileage because of having to make 2 trips because of MUCH smaller truck. The "Manager" was supposed to not charge for equipment; he did. He charged mileage and said he would not. Horrible experience. Will tell this story to everyone. Reserved another truck at another UHaul and hope that experience is better. Should be credited at least the $47.00 for the missing equipment and the mileage cost of $79.00 as the "Manager" said he would do after yelling at me!!! The location of this U-Haul was great! It is right in the middle of town. It also has LOTS of property which made it easy in and out. The problem with this location is it had a lot of customers and only one person working at the desk. We waited with another couple a long time for her to help one family and neither of us got helped in 10 to 15 minutes. We ended up leaving and coming back later when we could hopefully get helped quickly. When we returned I did get immediate help. I picked up the truck with 3/8 tank of gas, drove 29 miles, put 5 gallons in, tank at over 1/2 when returned, then was charged for 3 gallons of gas! I called THREE times, was either told I'd get a return call or put on hold and never responded to. Trucks should be full when rented. How can you charge $5/gal when not even filled?KEITH H.

I have rented equipment several times from this location. EVERYTIME I have made purchases the POS, specifically the card machine, has frozen. This leads to long wait times and a generally frustrating experience when a 10-second transaction now takes upwards of 15 minutes. Please update your machines. The truck had a broken windshield weather strip on top that beat against the cab of the truck while driving. The under carriage had a loud knocking noise when braking with a trailer attached. The AC was intermittent. When I asked about another truck in the parking lot I was told this was the only one that could make the trip.FRANK L.

I'm grateful to have storage that fits my needs. Finding dead roaches was not instilling confidence in how much they take pride in cleaning. The outside bays have so much trash and glass, there's others obvious garbage in the area for recycling of others things which everything in that area is garbage dirty and probably attracting more bugs and worse maybe rodents. I also didn't get my deposit returned to me seemed this is the second place in a month that's done this. I still haven't gotten my deposit from the facility I dropped a uhaul trailer at in Medford Oregon! Plus, the trailer I contacted for in Medford to come to NC ended up with a flat and the tire expert told me that Uhaul should've never allowed that trailer out of the parking lot, let alone travel the distance I had to. Now Uhaul owes me $120.00 that I'm sure I'll never see. Uhaul used to be on top of their game 100% and there's no excuse for the decline in all areas if customer satisfaction. I think it's time for me to look into other options if this is the new normal for all Uhaul locations because I've dealt with nothing but worse service since I left the Uhaul in Charlotte earlier this year. First staff member told me we could have our Uboxes moved to storage area anytime during business hours and no need to schedule ahead of time. Second employee told me we needed to give a 24 hour notice, so I gave 72 hour notice. Showed up at 0730 and staff member informed us forklift operator doesn’t start until 8:30. Wish they would have told me this when I scheduled. Then staff member couldn’t find our storage unit reservation so we spent time getting that set up. 8:30 comes and no sign of forklift operator so employee texts him and was told he’s on his way. Operator did not arrive until 9:10or later. We waited until 9:30 and no sign of boxes, went to office and no one told him we were waiting for boxes. He was very polite and got the boxes moved quickly. Staff members need trained on dealing with Ubox customers because every time I spoke to someone, I was told something different. I have also tried for 2 weeks to talk to Kasey about getting a discount and I’m always told she’ll be in at such and such time, but when I call she’s not there. I spent 2 hours waiting around for our Uboxes due to poor communication by your staff. I would like a 20% monthly discount for the inconvenience your team caused my family. There is a big deal that if you rent or lock-in a truck rental the storage is free for the 1st month (it also can be rented only month). I locked-in the truck on Aug 8th having the storage as well.
