The location of this U-Haul was great! It is right in the middle of town. It also has LOTS of property which made it easy in and out. The problem with this location is it had a lot of customers and only one person working at the desk. We waited with another couple a long time for her to help one family and neither of us got helped in 10 to 15 minutes. We ended up leaving and coming back later when we could hopefully get helped quickly. When we returned I did get immediate help. I picked up the truck with 3/8 tank of gas, drove 29 miles, put 5 gallons in, tank at over 1/2 when returned, then was charged for 3 gallons of gas! I have rented equipment several times from this location. EVERYTIME I have made purchases the POS, specifically the card machine, has frozen. This leads to long wait times and a generally frustrating experience when a 10-second transaction now takes upwards of 15 minutes. Please update your machines. The truck had a broken windshield weather strip on top that beat against the cab of the truck while driving. The under carriage had a loud knocking noise when braking with a trailer attached. The AC was intermittent. When I asked about another truck in the parking lot I was told this was the only one that could make the trip.FRANK L.

I am writing to inform you that I have experienced horrible customer service and order execution on my U-Box order. I paid for 3 U-Boxes (Order #26104426) to be shipped from Sanford, NC to Englewood, CO at the end of May. Two of the U-Boxes successfully made it to Colorado on 6/11/2021, which I unloaded on 6/19/2021. However, the 3rd unit (AA8418N) is still in North Carolina! This is absolutely unacceptable. I was told by Casey the GM of the Sanford, NC store that the U-Box is being shipped out via U-Haul's VIP shipping service, but this is far from a VIP process. Every day I sit on hold with U-Haul's 1800 phone number for hours, repeatedly getting dropped and having to re-explain the issue over and over again to different representatives who are never able to help me. I understand that I receive a $50/day for every day my U-Box is late. I am now demanding to be refunded immediately and in full and to speak directly to a U-BOX Manager to resolve this issue. The issue I have is with U-Haul the company and not the U-Haul in Sanford, NC. You should not call the customer 15 minutes before pickup and tell them that the truck is not available, and that there are no trucks available within 50 miles of your location. I had scheduled the pickup a week in advance, which should have been plenty of time to have a Truck at this location. This is just poor customer service.ERICLEE R.

I'm grateful to have storage that fits my needs. Finding dead roaches was not instilling confidence in how much they take pride in cleaning. The outside bays have so much trash and glass, there's others obvious garbage in the area for recycling of others things which everything in that area is garbage dirty and probably attracting more bugs and worse maybe rodents. I also didn't get my deposit returned to me seemed this is the second place in a month that's done this. I still haven't gotten my deposit from the facility I dropped a uhaul trailer at in Medford Oregon! Plus, the trailer I contacted for in Medford to come to NC ended up with a flat and the tire expert told me that Uhaul should've never allowed that trailer out of the parking lot, let alone travel the distance I had to. Now Uhaul owes me $120.00 that I'm sure I'll never see. Uhaul used to be on top of their game 100% and there's no excuse for the decline in all areas if customer satisfaction. I think it's time for me to look into other options if this is the new normal for all Uhaul locations because I've dealt with nothing but worse service since I left the Uhaul in Charlotte earlier this year. There was a discrepancy in the mileage assigned to the vehicle when I picked it up. It was some 200 miles higher in the vehicle then listed on the contract. So I was inappropriately charged for mileage that I did not drive. I had the vehicle a little over three hours. There was no way physically I could drive the truck over 200 miles and return in three hours. I will attempt to get this corrected at the U-Haul location this morning. To Whom It May Concern, I feel compelled to write regarding a recent experience I had with your online service as well as the truck rental experience. On 4/1 I reserved a 20' truck for a move on 4/3 (see below). I arrived at the pick-up location and they were unaware of my reservation. It was explained to me that they don't coordinate with the online service, which begs the first question, WHAT!? If you have an online reservation system how is it not coordinated with your local vendors? I had planned my day, hired my movers, and expected to be done within 8 hours in order to get home and prep for the holiday. Instead, I wasted 2.5 hours trying to get a truck from Uhaul. They didn't even have the dolly or pads I ordered! They sent me 17 miles away for a truck which they finally found but the online system didn't recognize me, for one because the sales associate didn't advise me that I had a new confirmation # and two it would not recognize my sign-in information. I created a new username and password and signed in but it said I had completed the express check-in! It would not give me an option to PICK UP the truck. I wasn't even sure where the lockbox was until someone leaving the location told me. I called the sales associate, Casey, and explained the problem; Casey said they would have the traffic control office call me and help. Well, 20 minutes later and 3 other attempts to get back in touch with Casey and still no callback. Casey, supposedly "called again" and I spoke to a woman at the traffic office that helped me, but then she was over-charging me, which took another 20 min to figure out. I wound up being a half-hour late for the movers, who were being paid $85 per hour and we worked until 7:30 that night instead of our expected time of 5pm. When we expected to have done about 2 hours of work before the movers even started! Instead, we had to pay them the extra time! They even had been done early with their morning move and could have started with use at 11:30 am; instead, they sat around until 1:30 until we finally got there. Even the movers (load/unload) said people are consistently having problems with Uhaul! Your company has caused me to have a HORRIBLE experience and spend much more money than anticipated. I am very disappointed and expect this kind of experience from a hole-in-the-wall company but not from an established company.Lori Z.

Friday morning when I went to pick up the truck there was only one person working at that time. I was in the middle but by the time I got to the desk it was all the way at the door I stood there a good 15 mins the poor girl looked shook that was checking everyone in. When I went to get my truck there was a gentleman that was sitting in the back of another truck and he sarcastically said make sure you check your truck! Mine has furniture in it and it had a kitchen table and other items. nobody can come help me he said , I've been here and went inside twice. I thought how inconveniencing that to be for him because he looked at the end of the rope. When I dropped my truck off I was standing in line looking out the window and I seen and herd an employee driving a truck pull out and scrape the side of another truck and the lady who rented it pulled away and I thought GEEZ I HOPE SHE HAS INSURANCE BECAUSE NOBODY SAID ANYTHING. The same guy that scraped the side of the truck came in to check my truck in. I was thankful he didn't have to move mine to check it in!! Was the truck I rented clean yes. Was it what I wanted yes. Was the rates great YES! But just a thought the staff may need a little help at this location because from me standing there both times at pick up and drop off they clearly had some issues going on.AMBER G.

First staff member told me we could have our Uboxes moved to storage area anytime during business hours and no need to schedule ahead of time. Second employee told me we needed to give a 24 hour notice, so I gave 72 hour notice. Showed up at 0730 and staff member informed us forklift operator doesn’t start until 8:30. Wish they would have told me this when I scheduled. Then staff member couldn’t find our storage unit reservation so we spent time getting that set up. 8:30 comes and no sign of forklift operator so employee texts him and was told he’s on his way. Operator did not arrive until 9:10or later. We waited until 9:30 and no sign of boxes, went to office and no one told him we were waiting for boxes. He was very polite and got the boxes moved quickly. Staff members need trained on dealing with Ubox customers because every time I spoke to someone, I was told something different. I have also tried for 2 weeks to talk to Kasey about getting a discount and I’m always told she’ll be in at such and such time, but when I call she’s not there. I spent 2 hours waiting around for our Uboxes due to poor communication by your staff. I would like a 20% monthly discount for the inconvenience your team caused my family. The entire staff at this Uhaul facility are excellent, helpful and friendly. The door in one of our storage units was out of its track and we couldn't open it. All the above are true, however the actual customer service was not friendly. Once it was our turn the gentleman behind the counter did not say good morning or even say how can I help you. He gave us a what do you want look and then no thank you or have a good day.Joseph V. | First Impressions
The turnover rate was high and lack of communication. I had tons of mouse poop through my storage unit. I started making complaints 8 months ago and nothing was ever done. I’m extremely dissatisfied with everything. I would report it to the person inside and was told a manager would contact me. I wouldn’t get a return call. I even made the complaints through customer service and they would send an email to the site manager. As per usual no return call. I paid way too much money for the terrible service from the staff and the fact that the mice had torn stuff up and pooped on my stuff. Moved everything out on 2/22/2020. At this point I will not recommend unwilling to anyone. The experience was the worst I have ever had with a storage place. Please contact me if you have questions. 919-353-4424.
