I received a free month email offer after renting a truck. I went online to reserve a unit at one location, entered my code for the free month at checkout BUT DID NOT COMPLETE THE CHECKOUT. I decided I wanted to use a different location, but when I got to checkout and tried my code, it was rejected. So I called customer service. At first the guy acted like he didn’t believe I had a free month, asking who sent me the email etc. Finally he took my information to reserve a unit at the location I chose. When I got to the location, the woman saw the reservation but said they didn’t have any units available of the size that I had selected on the reservation. I had chosen the largest unit, but she said all they had was a couple of the second largest and several of the ones below that. So I chose the second largest. She got to where she would complete the transaction and it still denied my free month code. She ended up working around it, and gave me the card for the gate. The receipt had zero information on it, which confused her as to why, but she hand wrote everything in. When I got to the gate, the card did not work. So I returned to the office. When she looked up my account, it did not show I had rented a unit. So she tried to do it again, this time her system said there were no units of that size available. So fine, I accepted an even smaller unit. Apparently she was new, and the ENTIRE TIME the more seasoned employee was at the station next to her but never offered any assistance. After about 10 minutes of her trying to figure out my reservation issue, he finally offered up the idea that she should just treat me as a walk-in customer. So that worked. But then at checkout my free month code still didn’t work. Again, she fumbles around until she finally asked him and he said to just give me the month without the code because he always has issues with the codes. After that, all worked out fine. A process which should’ve taken 5-10 minutes ended up taking over an hour of my time. 1)Your website system should not be completely voiding the free month offer codes if the transactions are not completed. 2)your new employees need better training. 3)your existing employees should not ignore a new employee who is obviously struggling. And might I mention, the customer behind me in line had the EXACT SAME ISSUE with a free month code.Cynthia B. | Overall Experience

Make sure to check oil level of vehicles before they are sent back into service. We had two vehicles that had no oil. The first was swapped out for the second. The second vehicle required a call to road side assistance and 90 minutes later we finally had oil in the vehicle. I thought these things were all checked before the trucks were allowed to be rented? My unit had my lock cut off and changed and my account was moved out without my permission. I was paying on the unit faithfully for 3 years for them not to know how or why this happened. The truck needs service, that truck should not be rented until it's fix because it's very shaky and swinging in and out of lane I was so scared for my life driving that truck. I returned the truck in the night before in the morning and they charge me $20 fee for turning in the truck early which is rubbish. Not happy!!Adriana D.

There should have been a 24 hour service that contacted me for any concerns when I stated I didn't agree with the charges and stated why. Cashier was on her phone the entire time she was dealing with me. The call was on speaker and was a personal call because I heard the person on the other end just venting about covid. Very unprofessional I couldn't hear her over the person on the phone. The cashier would not even ask the person to wait while she explained things to me. She wasn't even the only employee on the floor that day but the only one on the phone. I will not recommend nor will I return to this location.YASANDRA R.

I initially reserved a tow dolly with another location. When I arrived, I immediately noticed the dolly was damaged and I had hoped there was another one available. There wasn't and all the lady could say was she told someone to remove the availability off the website but they didn't...So, we ended up going to the location on two notch road. The lady that helped us was nice, prompt, and thorough. The guy was great as well. The equipment was raggedy with damages all around...but it got the job done...CRISTIE W.
My reservation was made at a location TWO minutes from my home. 24 hrs before I was due to pickup my rental, I was told that a truck wasn't available at that location,If there would even be one available at the time I needed it!. The 2nd location available with a truck was 10 miles away. That location gave my truck to someone that DID NOT have a reservation!(Farrow Rd location). My THIRD location was 15 miles away! The customer service person was looking & using her cell phone while she was trying to check us out! Giving us an extra 100 miles to use is a joke! One of the best actual U-Haul stores I've been in for a while. I dealt with the manager on pickup and drop off and she was very pleasant and efficient. The building and truck was clean. No complaints on the actual customer service because the lady that checked us out was nice and the gentleman the helped us return the truck was also pleasant. The issue was the lack of staff. It took us an HOUR to get checked out because there was only one person working. This was very inconvenient and caused delays in my day. I understand things happy and employees don't show up for work, however a more efficient plan as to how to deal with that situation would have saved myself and the 8 people that were also waiting for an hour time.ANTONIO W.

-Mon. 7/19/2021 I believe Your National phone Rep. Mr Rene was very helpful after waiting 50 minutes for him to pick up the phoneâ€¦too long. Tues. 7/20/2021 Nothing But Complementsâ€¦ Ms Charnetta Greene open on time, my Grandson and I had a 7am appointment made by Mr Rene, not his fault we were at the wrong address, which I got off Google based on the zip code, that I thought was closest to me. Ms Charnetta Greene said you are at the wrong location, my Grandson asked can't you change the order to here?, she replied it's only two miles, he replied the same question, she went above board, for our convenience canceling the previous order, and inventing an new order. She was extremely knowledgeable, patience, and polite. I really appreciate how she explained every detail. In my opinion Ms Charnetta Greene is an Asset to Your Organization, she did not have to look up any questions or refer to manuals for answers, she was on duty all alone. My reservation was made to pick up a truck from Tom Tires, 10901 Two Notch Rd, Elgin, SC 29045 at 6 pm on June 26th. I called this location at 8:30 am on June 26th to confirm the reservation. I was told that the truck would be in front of the business. After driving over 1 hour to get to the location, when I arrived there was no truck on the property. I called the business again and was told that the truck was out front. After convencing the person that there was no truck. He called me back and said he did not have a truck and UHaul should not have let me make the reservation for his location. However, he confirmed with me that morning that the truck was in the front of his property. I left this site and was able to obtain a truck from the Spring Valley location at 8400 Two Notch Rd. in Columbia. Toms Tire should be removed as a UHaul Vendor.MOSES B.

The truck had ashes inside the box when I picked it up. Had to sweep out the bed. I was charged a cleaning fee on return when the truck was received dirty. I also had issues making a reservation. My first reservation was sent to the other side of town. Overall a poor experience. Will be very reluctant to rent a motorized vehicle from Uhaul in the future. Have rented trailers with no problems. There are too many hidden and unexpected cost with renting trucks. The cost for a local rental is advertised as $39.50 and I ended up paying $165. The final cost was way more than the value gained from the rental of your equipment. This was overall a bad rental experience and I am left feeling that I was taken advantage of due to the final cost.THOMAS C.

I closed out my storage on March 13, 2021 not April 12, 2021. On March 13, 2021 I reserved a truck to move out. I picked up my keys for the truck and informed the lady working that I’m also emptying out my storage unit. She told me to come back to the office once I was done to close everything out. Once the storage was empty and I loaded the truck with my belongings from unit 179, I returned to the office to close out the storage unit. The lady was working by herself and had a long line waiting for assistance. When she saw me at the end of the line she told me I didn’t have to wait and that she would close the unit and send me confirmation via email. I never received that email. But I did receive a bill for the month of April a few weeks later. I called back to the office and spoke with the same lady and she said she would close it out again and don’t worry about the April payment. I recently received a bill and another email for the month of April. On April 12, I stopped by the office, the same lady working again but with another young man. I think she was training him. When I told her that I didn’t receive any confirmation about closing out the unit and I was still being billed for April, she stated that another person just did a walk through of the units and how could that be possible. Her attitude was very unprofessional. So as I’m waiting for her to look through her system to resolve the issue, she finally printed out a sheet of paper, with nothing being said. The young man picked up the sheet of paper from the printer and and she just pointed to me so that he could give me this piece of paper. The statement shows that there was a $0 balance. She didn’t say anything until I asked her was everything taken care of and then she stated yes you’re good to go. I was so taken back by her attitude I forgot to ask if I would be refunded the difference for the March payment.
