The quality of the boxes are completely inferior to the ones sold in Rockville. I purchased medium and large boxes by the bundle and they meshed together perfectly when folding the flaps to tape them. I bought 4 Grand Wardrobes, 2 shorty wardrobes and 6 dish barrels and not one folded properly. I will never buy boxes from this location again
The reason I rated this location average is because of the people outside of the store. There were men who do NOT work for uhaul outside who would run up to you and your car to see if you need any help. That is very alarming and unsettling, especially for a woman who is alone.
Truck was a different style than pictured, did not include ramp specifically advertised, frame of truck bed was bent, engine roars like it is about to explode, overcrowded lot full of too many trucks
Explain hidden charges like environmental and that regardless if you fill gas back to where you got it, you'll still receive a charge/fee
I was checked back in by Brandon. I had some problems with the truck leaking and he was courteous and handled the issue professionally. He is an outstanding employee and made my overall U-haul experience excellent in spite of the truck issues.
Just make sure the location of where the person's going to pick up the vehicle is made clear .there was a mistake but you all corrected it I was very happy with my experience with you all God bless you for doing a great job
The computer system was down and resulted in some delay to reboot the system, so there should be a contingency to process rentals manually if the computer system is unavailable.
How is it possible that i booked my reservation for one location but ‘the system' had my truck at another location? How?
This particular location is outstanding, from the layout of the parking lot to the customer service and efficiency of the staff. This was the best experience I've ever had with renting a truck, and I've rented a lot, getting 4 kids through college. Thank you!

A few weeks back I rented a 15 foot truck for 3 days and it cost $184. This time I rented a pickup for less than 1 full day and it was $140. There was a $50 CDW charge which I don't even know what that was for. The pricing doesn't make sense and seems to take advantage of customers unfamiliar with U-Haul.
The van that I reserved was “down†and it took an additional half hour to get a new one. Everyone was very pleasant and apologetic but it was very difficult to get a new reservation due to the long line which made us late to our moving appointment.
Minor issue - equipment number EL3505C, needs weatherstripping repaired on passenger side door.
I asked to drop the rental at Prospect Blvd and I had to drive 15 miles from where I was going.
Sophia was beyond excelent!!! As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by her with a smile and a great attitude. The whole checking process was pretty simple and quick, after that she showed me how to hook up the trailer to my vehicle and answered all the questions I had. She is very knowledgeable in her job and makes you feel extremely welcome!

The Customer service is Excellent
Vehicle pick-up was fast and smooth. However it required a wait of almost 30 minutes before staff could initiate vehicle return formalities which was frustrating to say the least. That said, When the desk finally was able to process my vehicle return paperwork, the process again went quickly and smoothly.
I selected the contactless delivery in order to avoid lines and minimize contact (for safety due to the pandemic). The app requires several contact validations (which would have been more convenient to be able to fill out before trying to find the truck) and tells you to locate the truck you've been assigned, but in a lot with at least 100 trucks there was no indication of where the truck we needed was since many of the sizes were mixed together, so it took several minutes just to find it. Then we saw that the truck we needed was blocked in by another. In the end we needed to go inside anyway to get the keys (rather than using a pickup/drop box) and have someone move the truck that was blocking us in. The man who got our keys and moved the blocking truck was very friendly and helpful, but if you advertise the method as instant contactless 24/7 delivery, it should actually be instant and contactless. The truck was in great condition, fully fueled, etc. so that part was great. The only issue was the check-in.

There was a line of three customers in front of me (one alone and a pair) that didn't seem to be moving when I went in even though there were Two people behind the counter. No one greeted me upon entering. I was just looking for the key drop off, which was poorly marked. I went back outside and found it myself. A lot of drivers had pulled up into the well marked drop off area and were milling about, Unhelped, when I pulled up. It seems to me if these places are going to be borderline self service, the prices should be lower, since your customers are doing the work you should be paying staff to do. Kudos to you for crediting me back for the extra gas I put in the truck for the next person to use. I only got a 1/16th tank but returned it a quarter tank full.

The staff and vehicle were fine but there is a large number of, frankly, scary vagrants camped out in the uhaul lot offering services and panhandling. Management clearly allows this as they were there all day and several other reviews mentioned the same problem. The lot has a fence and is private property so management could clearly expel them for traspassing. Not sure why they continue to allow this when countless customers have complained.

The equipment was in excellent condition and staff was amazingly helpful.
Customer should be escorted to vehicle vs telling customer the space # vehicle is parked in. In my case I had to hunt to find space KKK only to find that a vehicle had to me moved to allow me access to my vehicle.

I use Uhaul 2-3 times a year. My recommendation is purely based on my location's selection and availability, not about service level. No matter how few people are in line at this location, I always have to wait. Always. In my last reservation, I counted five employees walk past me for a total of ten minutes with NO ONE in line. I finally asked, "Are you open?" before I was acknowledged. Ten minutes - mostly alone in the office as employees wandered around with no sense of urgency. I stopped using the mobile app a year ago, because ironically, it takes longer to rent a vehicle and requires an employee. And why do you ask for things like license picture on your reservation website module? I always have to provide it again on site. I typically budget 45 minutes to get in and out of your location because of massive incompetence by your staff and general operational guidelines. My last time was a record 25 minutes with no one else in line and a reservation with all my information pre-filled out.
It would be better if the gas level is always full and each customer just has to fill it up when returning. It's hard knowing exactly what level the gas was. You guys are the best. I'm always coming to this location.

I have never had such a terrible experience ever in my life. As a member of media, I will make sure Uhaul gets enough attention of the truth behind ridiculous charges, services, and poor customer-care.
Pickup on Saturday was ok, maybe 15 minutes in line. Drop off could not have been easier. Cargo Van was clean and in ok condition (brake noise but worked ok).
Rude employees trashy truck tire pressure low
I had to wait 15 min for the check-in as I wanted a printed receipt to verify the charges for mileage. Otherwise the check in was efficient when I was meet at the vehicles when I pulled in.
My only concern was the vehicle I received was clean but had several mechanical issues. Vehicle down shifted several times inadvertently, vehicle needed an alignment, braking was uneven. Staff was friendly.
I returned the trailer 3 days ago on 12/30/20. Today I got a bill saying it was returned yesterday and I was charged $40 for extra days. This is wrong and it needs to be fixed
The young woman who checked me in was exceptional. Very friendly and helpful taking time to explain all options to me. From there it went downhill. Gas tank was not full and cab was dirty. Poor selection of dollies. Had to rent an appliance dolly which was more expensive and too much for the task I had to perform. Reserved a utility dolly but none were available when I actually went to pick it up even though it was reserved.
truck was not ready when promised; staff was rude and uninterested in helping customers; truck died during use and had to be jumped. Talking to anyone at the place was like to talking to a brick wall - unresponsive. They could care less.
The gentleman who handled the return pulled me out of line in the store to handle the uninstalling of the trailer outside. He did it quickly, and he stayed behind to answer a couple of follow up questions. He was quick, professional, and very respectful/courteous.

Ordered a dolly when I made reservations 3 weeks ago . There was NO dolly avail or any explanation . Cus service team continued their own personal conversations and I had to wait for them to get thru. I added gas to bring the fuel back to same level but they charge me for 2 gallons . NOT a good experience at all
My issues with this rental wee not based on the location or staffing. Staff members on site were delightful and helpful. I was QUITE agitated with the app and the alleged contact-less pick-up promised by the Web site. I was so agitated in fact that this will be the LAST time I use U-haul. At the time of pick-up, I was finally being prompted to upload a photo, a driver's license, etc., all of which *should* have been requested in advance of that so that my move could start on time and NOT 45 minutes later than scheduled.
They were all so helpful. Very busy atmosphere but excellent customer service. I will definitely recommend this facility.

My Ubox arrived on time. The people working there did not know whether I needed a permit. You should be able to answer those questions in the future.
They called to deliver the unit on a different day than scheduled. They were supposed to deliver between 9:30a-11:30a. They didn’t arrive until 12:30 & Unit wasn’t delivered until 5p. Pickup was late.
My experience is in regards to my overall uBox experience versus just the Takoma Park location. UHaul told me and my moving help that the uBox would be delivered to the Chillum Rd location. Incorrect
I actually had my pod delivered here from California and they were very communicative and on-time. Would recommend the pod moving service.

I had an appointment for my three U-boxes to be ready for access at 8:00 a.m. Didn't happen til 9:15 a.m. I had to pay movers an hourly rate so I lost some money on this move.
Did not use or see storage facility. Don't know why I'm being asked to rate it.

Driver, Maurice, was awesome and very polite. One suggestion - you should get trailer hitch locks. Easy to potentially have someone come and hook up the trailer and tow away the entire box!
I rented two uboxes that were stored at my home for two months. Delivery and pick up was great, thanks to Janal. The office staff communication was the worst i have ever encountered!!!
Ubox not delivered to the facility listed in arrival confirmation email, were told it might be lost. Delivery scheduled for 12pm - delivered at 9pm after many calls. Mouse droppings were found.
Terrible Service!!! I was never at the facility because both of my UHaul boxes were delivered to me. After 3 days of me sitting on hold being transferred at least 5x's a call 45min each call

Ubox not ready on date of request. Was told the door was broke to the warehouse. The next day I arrived when I was told the box would be ready and waited 2.5 hours for them to get me the box.
I had to comment about the "office" or "facility" but I didn't go there! The delivery was to happen on the 21st, but they called me AFTER they delivered on the 20th! Good service anyway!

The delivery of our Uboxes went quite well and the driver Janelle did an outstanding and professional job maneuvering the truck and forklift in and out of the very narrow streets around our new home.
The UHAUL of TAKOMA PARK at 6889 New Hampshire Ave. is the BEST/ TOP store I have ever visited. Their workers are professional, polite and very helpful. They made my relocation move more pleasant.
Great experience - quick and efficient, which is what we all want and which a lot of U-Haul locations don't provide.
