I rented 2 trucks, 2day apart. the first truck started running on 7 cylinders part way through the trip, the fan belts started squealing and the alternator started intermittently failing about halfway through as well. When I turned the truck in, the attendant told me his computer showed the truck had already been flagged for maintenance and shouldn't have been sent out. When I went in to rent the second truck, I asked about a military discount(I had been given one for the the first truck at the rental location), and was told to show my ID when I dropped off the truck and they would apply it there. When I dropped off the second truck, I asked about the military discount and was told I had been lied too. If they offed a military discount, it would have to be applied at the rental location. I paid more for a 20 foot truck than I paid for a 26 foot truck! I will never, repeat NEVER use u-haul again!

You charge $4.50 / gallon for missing gasoline but when someone tries to be nice and return the truck with it top off ( more fuel then I got it with ) you do not credit my transaction with a couple bucks for the extra 4 gallons of gas I put into it.

Slow and disorganize. Making the customer go through all steps of checking the blinkers,brake lights,and reading the mileage for some guy that was more impressed that he was a manger than customer service. I didn't know I was an employee for U-haul. If this is your new policy I will use budget from now on.

Wasn’t really a clear place to park - wasn’t sure where to go. I did the self check in but because it was open, we had to wait to give the front desk a key and it confused the front desk and she was a little short.

The General manager went out of her way to help me set up my self pick up and return, and during my return I had a pretty major glitch, and when I called her number on the door, I got her voicemail, I left a message and within minutes she returned my call and assured me it would be taken care of as soon as she got to work the next morning and it was. A different business. It was the worst service experience in my adult life. I wasn’t given a wait time. When I asked for a status report, the front desk woman, Claire, proceeded to have a 7 minute convo with a coworker about personal life/non work related issues. I was told an hour. Two and a half hours later my car was finally done. I have read multiple online columns and articles online and it should not have taken 4 HOURS AND 10 MINUTES. It was absolute bullshit. I will never recommend uhaul to anyone.

The truck (26' foot) was out of oil -- we had to put in 4 quarts. If we hadn't noticed the "check engine" light you would be looking at putting a new engine in that truck. But overall, the truck worked very well. The Yakima location looks like it might need some additional staff but the wait times weren't awful. I would recommend U-Haul to a friend.

Mileage and gas were wrong had 200 plus miles more than paperwork had 1/4 tank of gas not 5/8. Showed them pictures. No checkout sheet for damage .Waited to get checked out over 45 minutes. No receipt given upon return of truck on. Thursday. Was ignored by two workers who ignored me and didn't acknowledge . clerk said don't worry about mileage corporate just brought us a bunch of trucks. Now you have tried to deduct 296.13 from my card twice. I'm calling corporate to complain. And out a block on my card because of devious business practices. Only at this uhaul location in 1st in yakima have I ever had a bad experience . used uhaul for over 25 years usually at least once a year . Carol Smith 509-995-5559

The customer service rep was quite rude and not helpful. Instead of offering explanations about how the rental worked, she would often respond rudely with comments like "If its available tomorrow you can rent it again" instead of explaining that it was limited to 24 hours. She offered zero help in deciding what was best for us or clarification when we didn't know how to answer questions asked of us for the rental.

The vehicle had a previous users items still in the van. The windows and interior were very dirty. The seats were stained and felt musty. I used an old towel to cover them up. The staff however was excellent.

Do not allow something to be reserved online if it is not available for the duration you are requesting. I settled for a different trailer I did not want because of this. The trailer lights went out in the middle of the night and I was unable to use the trailer for the purpose I rented it. Upon returning the trailer, after a very long wait, I informed the lot attendant that the lights went out and I was unable to use the trailer. She implied my truck was probably the issue. I unhooked from my trailer and plugged in to the trailer next to me. The lights worked just fine on that trailer. After the attendant returned the trailer on her tablet, I began walking to the office so I could speak to them about my issue. The attendant stopped me and informed me my card was already charged and I was all done and could leave.

I had a really bad rental experience this time with U-Haul that may or may not have had anything to do with this location. I used the online rental site to arrange rental for a 5x9 utility trailer with ramp so that I could haul a piano. After reserving the trailer, filling out all the paperwork online, and then making arrangements for help with loading the piano and getting a dolly so I could use the trailer ramp, I received a call from U-Haul saying that the trailer I reserved was not available in my town, which has several U-Haul locations. Really? Why didn't they tell me that as I was making the reservation rather than waiting several hours? They offered an alternative which had no ramp, so I had to scramble to find more help in order to lift the piano into a trailer with no ramp. When I arrived at the pickup location, I noticed that they had several of the trailers, at least 6, that I had originally reserved but they told me that they were all out of service except for one which they keep for local rentals, while my rental was one-way. As I prepared to leave the facility I asked about where I could drop off the trailer at my destination, which has many U-Haul locations. Since everything had been done online, there was no written contract as such, just an email on my phone, so I was told to call a certain number upon arrival and they would tell me where to take the trailer for dropoff. I did as they asked, but was told by the operator to take the trailer to a location that would have required at least an hour round trip to drive, unless city traffic was bad and then more than an hour. I pointed out that there were several U-Haul locations nearby but they insisted that I take it to the preferred location, which was the absolute farthest away from me! I continued to argue but was then finally told that, if I wanted, I could personally call other U-Haul locations in town to see if they would take the trailer. That should be U-Haul's job, not mine, since I am the customer and I am paying for their service. Subsequently, I spent over an hour on the phone calling multiple locations and the regional office in order to finally find a sympathetic site manager, to whom I am very grateful, who agreed to take the trailer even though he did not need it. In other words, this entire process was at U-Haul's convenience, not mine. They processed my request for a trailer and then did not have it when I needed it, and they wanted me to drop off the trailer at a location where they needed the trailer in inventory, even though it was miles away from where I was located and with several locations nearby. They wanted me, the customer, to position their trailer for them. The fine print on the electronic contract requires the customer to deliver the trailer to the agreed location, but there is nowhere on the contract that specifies the agreed location. Instead, you are provided with a phone number to use upon arrival that will tell you where to drop th

Similar to what I stated above, the drop off was a little confusing since there was no one to indicate where I should go and there was other equipment in the drop-off location. A few U-Haul workers were walking around but no one indicated if I was even in the correct area. A quick hand signal or "I'll be right with you" would be appreciated.

I worked directly with the General Manager, who was great and had all the information I needed. She also was very speedy in both the rental and return processes. Plus, the equipment (a van) was perfect for our needs, and it was so nice to drive a nice, comfortable vehicle with plenty of power. Kudos to the general manager at this location!

Separate line for people only buying supplies. Prior to my rental I bought some packaging supplies and had to wait in line with people renting which took a while. Also, maybe combine this purchasing supply line with people who do the prior online express check in..

The truck that I rented had far less gas in it than the paperwork indicated. I should have checked that before leaving, but it never entered my mind to think that would occur, so I was several blocks away by the time I noticed and did not have time to return. I put in $25 of gas in an effort to get it back up to the level where it had never been, and still had to be charged $17 in refueling fees. So just trusting that there would be honesty ultimately cost me about $42.00. I should have thought to look, but come on, don't take advantage of your customers like that.

I rented a 5×8 trailer to move my son's stuff to college. Rented it in Yakima, wa. towed it to Lacey, wa. Would sure be nice to return the trailer in Lacey, wa.,than have tow it clear back to Yakima, wa.,empty. Other than that it worked great, will be renting again after college to move back home

Although the location and truck was nice. The truck was given to us 1/8 of a tank and not 1/4 as it was supposed to be! I also didn't appreciate the fact that when I reserved the rental online my total was $35.00. When I went to pick it up the price changed to $50.00 and then when I dropped it off, the price jumped to $70.00.

Personal service was fine. Online process was misleading. I wanted to reserve truck for 72 hours but the time only went up to 24 hours. I clicked on that thinking I could keep it longer. Went to pick up the truck and was told that, no, I could not do that. I ended up with a smaller cargo van which means we could only move half of what we need to move so that means a second trip is in order. Extra expense. Not happy!

I was over charged for the car dolly, I was quoted 49.95 and was charged 250.00. I believe I was over charged. I reserved the dolly over the phone on Thursday the 27th .We were supposed to receive a phone call to pick up the dolly, that call never happened. I called and was told my reservation had been cancelled which if fact I did not cancel. I went into the location in Yakima. I am very disappointed in the amount of money I was charged. The woman helping me there told me because of the availability that's way it costs so much. I would not recommend U-Haul to any one.

We have never had a bad experience with uhaul until this transaction. I reserved a 20 ft truck and a auto transport. The transport was an hour away, I had to ask to have it worked out so I could return it closer to my house. The 20 ft truck was a piece of junk with the rear end going out. Every time we backed up it sounded terrible. The people who worked at the store said they had no idea what was wrong with it. The lights wouldn't shut off. We reserved through the main number they said we could extend it past 24 hours, when we picked up they argued with my husband and were very rude. They said the dispatch doesn't communicate with the store and there was no way to keep it longer. I called dispatch again they checked and aid we could keep it for another 6 hours but we would have to pay another day rate. We drove an extra hour to get the auto transport, had to return the 20 ft truck the day of moving at 9am. It was just a mess and uhaul did not do anything to help make it easier. I have three different charges on my credit card , and only one receipt. I will be calling again on Monday if it is not fixed correctly. I should have gotten some sort of help or accommodation for all of the headache this caused.

Trailer rental. There was some broken glass, wood screws, and other small items that had not been removed from the bottom of the trailer. Not a big deal, but could have been easily and quickly cleaned with a broom before I rented it. I've rented from this location several times before and will continue to do so. Great staff and excellent customer service.

I checked in at the counter to return a van. The lady said wait outside somebody will check the van. 15 minutes later the representative walk right by me to check the van without even acknowledging me. Takes 10 minutes to check the van then says his little computer doesn't work to go inside. I wait inside another 30 minutes as there is a line with only one sales rep. It took 45 minutes to return the van. Absolutely terrible customer service.

My comments are not aimed at the Yakima location where I picked up my Uhaul. They are aimed at the customer service prior to pick up. My original reservation was scheduled to be picked up in Moses Lake WA on Friday at 3:00 p.m. I was called on Friday at 2:00 p.m. and told my reservation was not available. I explained that I had movers coming the next morning and I needed the truck. This was met with no comment or empathy from the customer service rep. When I asked if there was anything she could do so told me there was a truck available in Yakima, WA - 2 Hours away, but that I would have to go get it. I was in a bind, so I did make arrangements to take that truck, but this inconvenience was not needed while trying to move my family.

The worst experience with a company i have ever had. They moved, changed 5+ times, and cancelled my reservation all in 48 hours. I had 2 days to move and I got the trailer 1 1/2 days late. Worst management. No one would call, no one would answer phone. Told me I didnt show up when I was there first thing in the morning. Went to the store 3 times. Management wouldnt even help me, had their employees try and fix something they couldnt do anything about. Not once apologize for the hell they put me through. DO NOT count on having the item you supposedly reserve online. No guarantee whatsoever you will get it. Horrid experience and horrid management. I guess they have the monopoly in this so they can do what they want and treat people like crap. Never again.

I checked the trailer at every stop, and everything was always set up as the associate showed me. Somehow, during a bump or brake, one of the hooks on one of the two chains came out of the ring on the hitch mount, even though the rubber stopper was completely through the ring, and the chain drug along the highway for a few miles. I heard it and it scared the heck out of me. I reattached the hook, without the rubber stopper which was lost during the dragging, and there were no further problems. But those rubber stoppers are not 100% apparently. Maybe some other way to secure the chains would be better.

The rental truck did not have a ramp. We drove three miles to the moving destination, discovered no ramp, returned it immediately and requested a vehicle with a ramp. They did not have one in stock so charged us full price including $6.50 for the furniture dolly. Then they charged us full price for a trailer that had a ramp, plus another $6.50 for the SAME furniture dolly (it was a different transaction so they charged twice...). The trailer was dirty and had yard debris in it. The employees were not helpful. I have never had this poor of experience at Uhaul and will think twice before using them again.

This location hooked up the wrong dolly for our vehicle at first, we were almost ready to leave when someone else realized it was the wrong one...a delay that cost us about 30 minutes of drive time. Then the correct one had to have a ratchet replaced we had to wait on them to install, which was apparently installed incorrectly, because every time we stopped all the way to Texas the straps were completely loose...we were grateful the chains were holding it on or we would have had a serious problem.

Our only complaint was the decal on the glove box reflected in the passenger side mirror so bad you couldn't see cars near you. All you could see was the decal reflection! Very dangerous for all. We think the decal should be moved to below the glove box or somewhere where it doesn't reflect in the mirrors.

The truck was dirty and the gas gauge was on E. I was told I would be credited for the oversight but was not. There was a bad smell. I had to clean the front before I could go anywhere. My reservation was for Kittitas, but the company told me I wouldn't be able to get a truck there. I had to go another 43 miles each way out of my way to pick up the truck and take it home to load, which caused me to go over on my miles and get chared an EXTRA $14. I have always been happy with Uhaul, but every step of this process this time was unacceptable.

I was told I had up to certain time to return but was called several hours before that deadline stating it neede to be returned before and that another client was waiting. Nevertheless, the manager was willing to rent me truck for an extra day. Also, they wrote on the contract the fuel was 3/8 full but the truck only had 1/4 full. Upon return they did not charge the penalty that would have applied so they did believe me. A few days before I also rented a truck with no problems whatsoever so it seems to depend on who attends you at the time.

This is the only location I would recommend to anyone thinking of using U-Haul. The manager, Monica Howard, is a ROCK Star. She has exceptional customer service skills and was more than eager to help me and willing to work with me to get a truck. I was jacked around on my initial reservation which was a 26ft truck for 2 days to be picked up at 4;30 on June 2nd. When I called to let them know I was on my way to get my truck I was told by the person at the location that my reservation had been moved as the location didn't have a truck. I reserved a truck and was told it would be there. He gave me a number to call about the change and the person who answered told me they had to move my reservation as they didn't have a truck. I was told that I should have been informed that U-Haul trucks were in great demand and there was limited availability but that is not what I was told when I reserved the truck and gave them my credit card number. When I inquired as to where it was moved, figuring another location in Yakima so I could pick it up, I was told my truck was waiting for me in Spokane, WA which is over 3 hours from Yakima! And, I would have to drive to pick it up and pay $.89 per mile for the drive BACK to Yakima once I got it. When I explained that was over a 6 hr round trip and I would be out the expense of personal driving and paying for mileage, I was told this was not the customer service representatives problem but if I wanted a truck that may be my only option. When I pushed further, I was informed I could have a truck for unlimited miles but I would also have to drive to go get it, in Sunnyside, WA! This is over an hour roundtrip but it was my only option. It was now 5:00pm and Budget, Penske & Ryder were closed and I had 10 people lined up to start moving 2 households.... I was at the mercy of the incompetence of the reservation/customer service reps for U-Haul. I told the person on the phone I had no choice but I expected her to call the Sunnyside location to confirm the truck was there so I didn't waste my time driving there only to find there was no truck. She insisted at least 3 times the truck was there, she was looking at it and it was already reserved in my name. I could have it for 2 days with unlimited miles but I had to be there before 5:45pm as they would close at 6:00pm. So, I was off to Sunnyside to get my truck at Teto's Car Toys only to arrive and be told there was NO TRUCK and there wouldn't be until Saturday at 5pm!! He informed me that U-haul had double booked the truck and he didn't know why they told me to drive there to get the truck. I drove back to Yakima and in a desperate attempt to get a truck figured it was worth a shot to go to the South 1st St location. What did I have to lose at this point? I couldn't move without a truck. After explaining everything to Monica she got on the phone, tried to locate a truck for me, found that the Sunnyside truck was actually rented to a "walk-in" as the person didn't b

I reserved and checked in online spent 30 mins at front counter none the less then had to deal with paper work that said tank was full which it was not had to take photos go back in to be told it would be adjusted. I had my paper work initialed and took photos returned truck with more fuel than when departed drove 10 miles total in 17' truck and was charged 92.00 now am having to dispute and fight for reimbursement. Bad customer service, lack luster employees and false documentation If you don't have to rent from here I would recommend you don't.

Was told the trailers they owned. 1st, the reservation center based out of Spokane wa, told me 1 day before, that I could drive to Chelan WA to pick it up since they didn't have one. I made this reservation 1 month ahead of time!! Then, she canceled the reservation!! Next, they said I could drive to Sunnyside WA to get the trailer! Unbelieveable! Next, I was offered no compensation for the hassle, trama or anything. This company has gone to crap since I worked for You! I had a family member flying up here the next day to help get me moved home. The call center in Spokane Washington, Cindy, to be exact, was unproffessional, rude and completly unqualified to do her job. Why the he'll was this equipment not staged at the pickup location? I worked for uhual in Medford MA, also in Puyallup Wa..we would make damn sure a reservation, of this size, would be ready for our customers. Pissed! This location does not hold up to the uhual promise of taking care if they're customers. Customers 1st! Fix the problem..compensation would be nice!!

Peak hours could use more employees. I had a 12:00 appointment and there was only 1 desk attendant and 2 service employees. It took several calls to the back office before another attendant came to help and she wasn't very pleased to help. Clean the vehicle. I had to kill the spider that occupied the console and clean out the cobwebs. The cigarette smell in the van was so strong it burned my eyes. I had to drive with windows open in the rain just to get breath. Even though I checked in online, it took 40 minutes to get my vehicle. The staff at the pick-up location could not understand the charges on the online quote I was then charged for an extra day due to returning it 1 hour late. I will not rent from u-haul again. The initial quote was less than the competitors, but it wound up costing me more. The only reason I rated them as "Average" is because most u-haul locations I have been to are not well run.

In reference to my comments, I am normally very positive, but there were so many difficulties with this rental. I had to make a special trip from my office to pick up the truck due to there not being a truck that size locally. Upon arriving, they said they did not have the 26 foot truck available. The first person to help must have been new and training and the one training must have been ready to lunch. Both were not very helpful nor competent and it took 45 minutes to hear, they did not have a truck that size. After stating that I would not leave without 26 foot, a third person showed up, I'm guessing either a manager or someone who'd been there a long time and within 5 minutes we had keys in hand and were driving away! I was VERY impressed with her assistance!

The open trailer I picked had oil on the floor. At first I though it was just dirty with water in it because it had rained the night before, but as the day warmed up it became clear that it was oil. This made it very dangerous for us to load the bed of the trailer. We had to buy boxes to lay on the bed of the trailer so it would not ruin our stuff. When I brought this to the attention of the person (female) who unhooked us, did not acknowledge that I was even speaking to her. I have never had a problem at this location before. If I was not on a deadline to get my items moved I would have returned the trailer at the beginning. I am not a satisfied customer. Seems to be a atmosphere of apathy among your employees.

2 people at counter like they are digging stuff out from under counter all over the top of counter with not really any room left on counter. Then told that one of us will be out to check you in..... in reality I was waiting for the one person helping customers that was filling 6 propane tanks.... as 10 then 15 minutes go by I see another employee come but he just talked to the one working person and then goes back inside and as he goes in door kicks a $5 lunch box from McDonald's closer to a planter not picking it up, then as I go back in to find out if I was going to get helped I noticed 2 cups and a wrapper in flower pot so I guess the pot with flowers in it is also a garbage can... I guess that is what you get when you have 1 worker and the rest are management..... I had 2 calls with 1-800 and nothing got changed in either call , maybe you should take those recordings of calls and actually use them for proper training opppppssss I guess those are used only against customers not for them......

Well garbage in flower pot, Wendy's lunch box on the ground next to it... counter person says yes one of us will be right out......in truth... I the one person pumping propane will be with you.... no us three will dig under counter looking for something then help someone... and one kicked the lunch box closer to the flower pot.... not even picking it up...... guess you have one worker and the rest are management at this location...... poor....

The advertisements on the vehicles are misleading. Most of the Uhaul vehilce state the fee is $19.99 or the respective price. Consequently when you get into the location and begin your contract you find out it's $19.99 plus mileage. Making the rental at least $50 minimum with the fees. You should have a flat low fee for in town. If you're going long distance over have a fee including mileage.

Was overcharged on March 17, 2017. Before I left the store on the 17th, monica, who identified herself as the general manager, told me the funds were credited back to my account and to wait up til 5 business days to see the credit. Today is April first, I've talked to someone at uhaul corporate who said the funds were never credited back to my account. Monica doesn't respond to phone calls. Just give me My $ back please! !!!!!!!

Arrived to pick up uhaul - had daughter pick it up. She questioned the size of the trailer. Therefore, the agent was fairly new and called the manager up to assist the transaction. Daughter brought back the wrong size trailer, had I traveled with the 6x12 trailer we would not had made across country alive. The trailer weighed more than my 2013 Ford Mustang Convertible. I took the trailer back and exchanged it for the correct size I had ordered to begin with. When we exchanged the trailer the electrical wiring wasn't working properly. The technician that assisted me noticed the trailer had a nail in the right tire and changed it prior to leaving the Uhaul center. I then get half way home and am pulled over due to my lighting is not working on the trailer. I had the same issue with my last trailer rental when I moved to WA last August. My neighbor is an ASE Certified Mechanic and advised me that when Uhaul had hooked up my Hitch and electrical they spliced my wires. Therefore, every time I would brake to stop I blew a fuse and no lights. He ran a set of electrical wires from the fuse box to the rear of my car to ensure my safety through travel of 3,000 miles. The down side of it all, it cost me $160.00 for this service. Due to the fact he was off of work and advised me of their labor fee at his work, that he'd charge me $80 an hour. Turned out he worked a solid 3 hours and waved the third hour. Needless to say, my lights worked all the way to my destination thank goodness. With the bad weather and white out in Wyoming there could have been a serious accident without any lights.

I called the 1888 # and made a reservation for a pickup truck to a city West of us. Associate repeated everything I told her and estimated the miles round trip and she repeated it back to me and quoted me $33.** I went to pick up the next morning and I told the Associate in store exactly what the first associate told me and quoted me $87.** I asked why I was quoted such a great difference. Apparently the first Associate mis-calculated the miles to and from the city I was going to by alot. I was pretty upset, because by thisbtime it was too late to make other transportation arrangements. Then I was quoted $.59 per mile. On the way back I noticed the paperwork said $.69 per mile. The associate quoted me the weekday price per mile. I asked if they would honor it because it was after all what I was quoted. She went back and asked her manager. I understand people make mistakes, but it took what seemed like forever for her to return and then another long time for the adjustment. My hubby and 3yr old were waiting in the car, hubby always says, "time is money", so the $8 difference to him was not worth the wait and to say the least he wasn't too happy.

Service from the staff friendly and excellent. The 6 x 12 open trailer was presented to me for rental pick up with 4 - 6 inches of snow and ice in the entire bed. The inconvenience of having to clean the bed took extra time away from my move as once the snow was removed I had to let the trailer thaw from the layer of ice below the snow.

The only issue was, the safety chains would not go through our bumper. We had to go and find some eye bolts because they didn't have the right part. After we did that I went in to pay and found they had the exact same thing in the store. The worker should know what's on hand. Other than that he did a great job!
