Online reservation system was a mess, it let me book the cargo van and arrange for the drop-off location closer to my home but when I picked up the van they said something completely different. Made me pay the additional miles to drive it all the way back. Then they said they have an overnight drop-off I can use even though I was only using the van for 3 hours, it was returned before 8 pm and they charged me some bull crap after hours fee, never did they saint I would be charged this. I reserved a out of town truck on December 2nd. I reserved it for the move date on December 19. I got a call on Thursday December 17, stating there were no more out of town trucks and that we would be liable for extra charges for an in town truck. I asked for other options. They said you can look for another moving company or I would get a call back Friday morning to see if anyone cancelled an out of town truck. Friday December 18, at 3pm, I got a text message stating that my reservation was cancelled. I called back immediately and apparently they had it noted in my account to cancel the truck if there were no out of town trucks. They said the can still reserve the in town truck from before and reverse the cancellation. So we proceeded to reserve again. I get to the location where I was supposed to pick up and apparently there are two spots on saw mill river rd in Yonkers and they reserved the wrong one which was even further out of the way. This all transpired two days before my move date, it was even more stressful then the move.DANIEL M R.

Karina Diaz was the absolute best! Had it not been for her things would have been disastrous! My only regret is that I was not aware that I could have been associated with her from the beginning of problems that could have been avoided, like my unit being damaged by water. Instead I depended on other workers that promised to attend to the problem and did not! She is a "Gem" though. I returned two vehicles this week. The first went fine. On the second, i was told I had to move the van, and then join a line waiting for returns. Then I was asked if I wanted a physical or email receipt. When I said email I was told I could leave to van anywhere. Then there was a mysterious $5 charge on the email. Returning equipment was delayed. Waited down ramp for minutes...someone came but didn't acknowledge my presence. I went inside and told person but he acted as if it wasn't his job. The two guys lacked customer service skills. They should acknowledge customers and explain what is going on. A simple â€œplease go back down ramp and wait there I will send someone thereâ€ was all I needed. 26 foot truck parked in between 2 other trucks with a foot of space in the front and back. No associate was willing to come help guide me out but stated " make sure you don't hit any other trucks" there was also something wrong with the engine but was told it's fine to drive. My original pick up location was scheduled in Hewitt nj which is in my town. I was told after booking in advance that I would need to go all the way to Yonkers... an hour away from original pick up location. Was started off with barely any gas and told after 30 miles I would start being charged. It is now 48 miles between Yonkers and my original pick up location which was down the street from my home. Not to mention I had the pay tolls to get back across the river. Everyone I spoke to at this company could care less about this inconvenience and if I was not moving and desperately needed the truck I would have cancelled. I will never use or recommend uhaul ever again. This was the worst experience of my life.Tyler H.

This branch is better organized than the Homefield location. They put a little red sticker on my card that had my unit number. Nice touch. They look like they take covid seriously with barriers and the charge card units 6 feet away from the staff. I really liked the Yonkers location. At Homefield I’ve had to go to in 6x to fix my card. I hope the 7th time is a charm. Staff allowed a customer to stay in store without a mask yesterday. Horrible. Please get the Homefield location to take covid more seriously there is a rise coming. And help them with workflow regarding fixing swipe cards. A customer should not have to go back 6x to get the same issue fixed. I had 2 storage units, one for 3 years and the other for 5 years or longer. The facility was ok as far as cleanliness. Could do a better job with extermination- vermin and insects. After emptying my unit, I found mouse droppings in boxes. The elevator was broken for several days which was a huge inconvenience and no compensation was offered. I had to walk up the stairs with furniture. I would not recommend this facility. The rates increase consistently every year and you’re at their mercy.SELENA R. | Overall Experience

I was overcharged for a single day rental. When I called to ask about the charges I was put on hold for more than 10 minutesWILLIAM D.
I am very upset that I was extremely overcharged. I used a 10' truck for less than an hour. Drove only 3 short miles and was later charged almost $75. The tank didn't even budge. I returned the truck at the same exact level that it was rented with and later got charged a $30 refueling fee. Can't quite understand why they were trying to get away with highway robbery and I only drove locally in town. How many miles per gallon does the truck even drive? If 3 miles consumes $30 per gallon of diesel I don't suggest anyone to ever rent from here. This is beyond crazy.Endisha H.

The price quoted to me was substantially lower than what I was charged which was a shock.... $19.99 Van/Truck or anything near that is not the cost. Also the van I rented was definately not wiped down or sprayed. I had to wipe it down and spray with Lysol before using. They don't seem to have a cleaning procedure for rentals during Corona Virus No temp checks when you go in. The employees were really nice. The price difference in quoted versus actually is what would prevent me from renting again. With the price I could have done a van rental at a car rental for the week. I will definately price compare with car rental companies. The price was about $200 for a $19.99 van, no insurance and the mileage I used up was 134 miles.ELIZABETH R.

I had rented a uhaul truck and a auto transport. I had to get my car from jersey. After loading it up onto the transport the brake came on. Had to wait for a uhaul mechanic to come. When he got there he was shocked on how we made it from NY to NJ with the transport getting detached. The whole thing was set up wrong. Before we left from the uhaul rental office we asked the guy was it secure on properly. He was certain everything was good. Thanks god for the uhaul mechanic who came to the rescue!! I made my reservation online for one way 5 days before my move at uhaul website and date/time was set to pick up the truck. i was contacted by Uhaul representative a day prior my move saying that the trucks are sold out for one way and wasnt given any other option. This force me to rent a truck with the option of returning back to the same location. My move was 68 miles away. i had to drive back 68 miles to return the truck & i was charged for the daily fee and miles for both ways.. plus i had to pay for gas and toll while going to uhaul location to drop of the truck. i was forced to return the truck back at the same location by Uhaul since i had no other choice but to relocate. worst experience, wasted lot of my time and money.Mohammad K.

I've had many problems with this place. Its hard to get staff on the phone and if you do get them on the phone, its because they are calling you because you're late on a payment. They'll keep calling back to back till you pick up when they want their money. I've been a customer for years and several times they've done repairs or upgrades and had debris from the ceiling fall all into my unit. I paid my unit late once and they left their lock on my unit for 3 weeks. They charge a "maintenance fee" for cleaning the storage facility but some how debris always made its way in my unit.
