Glen was quick to get us checked in at 4:56 pm on a Sunday, four minutes to closing. We only took the truck for 3 hours at a daily rate, wish U-Haul would have hourly rates instead of daily rates or even 1/2 days........

When I dropped off the truck (it was ~70k miles on it) the employee came out and inspected the truck. He came back in and asked me out as he found a few noticeable marks on the side of the roof. Based on his tone, he sounds like he was pointing at me for causing the scratches. What he should have done is looked at the history notes of the car rather than lecturing me as a customer. As noted above, the truck is old and already had 70k miles on it. In addition, he claimed that the SafeMove covers bumper to bumper except the side of the roof. WOW, i was speechless.

The staff had difficulties using the new software and we had to wait about 20mins while they struggled with the computer. Seems like the new software has a lot of issues. I feel bad that the staff is forced to work with the new, slow software.

I reserved a 20'/26'truck Got the confirmation I hired the moving people... I got to the Uhaul store and found out that there was no truck available... i had to take the managers offer to take the 17' and a free dolly rental... I ended up doing 2 trips and my bill went up $50 due to mileage. Not counting $15 of the extra gas. I am extremely disappointed and angry. Due to this, the people helping me couldnt finish the work... due to they were hired for 4 hours only....and i ended up calling multiple friends to help me move. IM EXTREMELY UPSET ABOUT THIS!!!

Didn't realize when I made the reservation for a one way that the pick up location wasn't set. I ended up going over the allotted miles since I picked it up further away from than where I lived. I wish that was clearer or perhaps I missed it. I would also suggest if the pick up is not the original location chosen then however many miles away it is from the original location should be added to the overall allotted milage.

Hi I'm Very disappointed with the U-haul experience i had on Saturday. I have Actual looked around for nearby Uhaul and booked my appointment at 11. I got a call from Uhaul to change the time to 1PM. But when i went to the location i couldn't find any vehicle nor any appointment. The dealer told me to contact customer services and came to know it has been blocked in different location without any notice or email confirmation which has delayed another hour which has spoiled my other appointments and financial loss. This was very disappointing experience not handling situation properly by the managers and staff in respective locations.

The ultimate pick up location was great, but the process beforehand was very unsatisfactory. We selected a different location initially, for which we received email confirmation. Then, the day before we were supposed to pick up the truck, I happened to check the reservation online and noticed the pick up location changed. We were never notified of this change and so if we didn't happen to check our reservation ourselves, we would have shown up to the wrong location.

The cashier who helped me was exceptional nice and helpful. I did not catch her name but she was the only female there at the Milpitas location when we picked up the truck. She deserves a pat on her back. As the line was really long and she was super patient - she took me through the process quickly but I did not feel rushed.

made reservations on phone with call center .Arrived at local uhaul store and you you counter guy said rental is only 4 hour rental.We clearly had made reservations for Friday 8AM to Saturday8 AM.Counter guy said I could not rent full day he had others rented on this truck. He said call center reservations have no idea what's going on here and made mistake ( Uhaul reservations). Not renting at Uhaul again..Same old story at Uhaul...Go Penske truck rental!

This review is for the Campbell location. I had no problem with the militias location. Who ever is in charge of the Campbell location needs to teach their staff customer service. The women I spoke to was rude offered nothing beside a mono tone voice saying she didn't have the vehicle I had requested two weeks prior. I had to drive 30 minutes out of my way to get that uhaul then thirty minutes back to load what I needed. I want a refund for this bullshit I experience

This was by far the best Uhaul customer experience for me. I have never had any major complaints about Uhaul in general but this was the first time I went to a location without a reservation and left with a brand new Uhaul truck within 5 minutes of arrival. The guy at the counter was prompt in helping me out with the booking and within a couple of minutes I could see my pickup van arrive at the door. To add to that, it was a brand new van and I was off within minutes. I returned the van after hours at 10pm and saw the final bill in the email early in the morning at 6am. No complaints whatsoever.

Your reservation system is pointless as far as I can tell. I reserved a 15' truck over a week in advanced and paid in full at the time of reservation only to get called the day before I'm moving and told that there are only 10' trucks available. Whats the point of a reservation that I prepaid in full for, Reservations are meant to reserve, if there is nothing to reserve, then why was I allowed to make it in the system. Furthermore there were 3 15' trucks outside in the parking lot, why none of them were available to rent? I don't know I, didn't bother asking further after I was told nothing else is available. I was essentially paying the full cost of the "potential rental of a 15; truck". I can't remember the time where I payed for something for only the chance of receiving what I wanted. Maybe lottery tickets, so U-haul's reservation system is basically like a lottery, probably wont every use them again, because why would someone who is moving want this type of additional stress.

I m a handycap person your worker Chris parked in the handicap parking space designated only for use it was his car i couldn't get out of mine I waiting for you to open I had to squeeze out of my car very difficult for me he told me he work here an did not have to obey the law he could park there. He said to me very rudely you don't have a while chair any way so it didn't matter.l think he needs to no the law l almost call the police but l thought this is better just to report it to you l hope you take some kind of action toward him.he should respect the handicap.

Usually I get good service but this time it went all bad. First I ordered a pick up, but when I went to pick it up I got the next size up. An Arizona mistake. Then the gas line was cut in the truck so I had to get it towed back to the pick up loc. and transfer my load from one truck to another losing 2 to 3 hour .

The General Manager, Dave Daniels, provided horrible service. He called the day before to confirm our reservation. We confirmed it and he asked how long we needed the truck and we stated a few hours but we rented it for a 24 hours. He stated they were overbooked for trucks and asked if we can return it by 1PM which would have been only a 4 hour rental. We stated we would try our best to return it by 1pm. We did not promise to return it by 1pm we advised we would try our best. When we picked the truck he demanded that we bring it back by 1pm otherwise he would charge us addtional rental fees as he stated we had a verbal agreement because they were overbooked. We told him our rental is for 24 hours. He was very aggressive and demanding. We were very upset about this. Renting a truck a truck should not be so difficult. The unforturnate thing is we reserved another truck on 8/26 and we have to return to this same location as it is the closes location to where we are moving. We don't want to go to a further location to rent as we will have to pay the extra mileage. We hope that we do not have to go thru horrible service when we go back on 8/26/17. Thank you!

The SJ people and location took care of me when multiple phone operators completely screwed up my reservation 2 times almost leaving stranded w/o a truck to rent for a scheduled move after I had thought I scheduled the correct time frame days before thank god they guys there helped out to get what I needed now let's see if I do indeed receive the $50 credit that was promised to me due to the errors!

I was told that I could rent the vehicle for one week when I reserved it over the phone. When I picked up the vehicle I was told that I could only keep it for one day. The service agent that processed my paperwork was friendly and knowledgeable. The service agent that was working when I turned in the vehicle was very rude. Due to the fact that I reserved the vehicle for an extended period and was told that I could not do that when I picked it up, and because of the behavior of the service agent when I returned the vehicle, I plan on using a different rental service in the future.

Even w express check-out, it took more than hour to check-out. The crew was helpful but the online system is a crap and failed several times and gave erroneous results (suggesting a van that was not there, wrong mileage, failing to upload pictures etc.,). Overall, it took 4 hours to rent/return a vehicle for a 30m job.

I had to make multiple trips to pickup tow dolly in Fremont and then had to drive back to San Jose to pickup my Honda and then back to Castro Valley. I was supposed to be given an extra 75 miles for my trip and and 2 days extra. I actually only received 50 miles and 1 extra day. I ended up being over by 8 miles. I had to call customer support to try an rectify. I'm still waiting for resolution. I should not have been charged for going over. Additionally I only received 11 furniture pads/blankets instead of 12. I should not be charged for neither the extra mileage or the missing pad.

Your text fiction to notify me of pickup location change did not work and was frustrated when I got ther to pick up my van to be told I had to go to another location after my ride left. Because of that I had to get a small box truck which was more per mile. The text function should have a reply for confirmation of change, if that doesn't work call. I'm not impressed with uhauls service, I have had similar issues and customer service and training needs improvement in the stores

Didn't get right truck and my reservation was for 2 days but they had it for 1. I usually have a good experience. Ordering online was not a benefit. It still took long.

It took 45 minutes to get the truck, I wasn't able to get the size I wanted even though there were very clearly more 10' trucks in stock, and when I did get the truck, it had previous damage all over it. Won't be coming back to Milpitas U-haul.

The store Manager was giving me a hard time every single time I rented a truck. He has many unreasonable guidelines. For example, when I reserved a 15 foot truck for 2 days, he made me come back at the end of the first day to close out the Contract, then open up another contract for the 2nd day instead of letting me keep the same Truck for 2 days. One time he even said the Truck has another reservation on the next day and that was why he has to have it back on the same day that I checked it out. However, the next day when I came back to check out for another day, it was the same Truck that I got the previous day. Another example is that I reserved the Truck for 10 hours knowing that I can keep it for 24 hours, he made me return it within 6 hours and when I got mad, he let me kept it for 10 hours. With this person's attitude, it will upset many customers for sure and will not help your Brand.

We reserved a larger truck at the San Jose Curtner store. When we went to pick up our truck we found out there were NO trucks available!! We had to go to the uhaul Milpitas location and rent a smaller truck. We were not able to move all our belonging in one trip and incurred about $300 in additional cost to complete our move. The Milpitas store did their best to minimize our negative experience however Management refused to allow customers the use of the restroom. After waiting over an hour for service a customer should be allowed to use the restroom.

The installer lady techincian were excellent , but the Manager of the location was average . I had to spend my own money to rent a U haul truck to get electric parts that they didn't order right for my car. But overall the hitch installation was very good!

When I rented the uhaul, the computer system showed that the fuel level was at 3/4 tank but the truck actual had only 1/4 tank fuel. The pickup crew just crossed the fuel level on a piece of paper provided to me to make the change. When I returned the truck with slightly more than 1/4 tank of fuel, I was changed $80 for not fueling the truck with desired amount (3/4 tank). Note that I returned the truck after hour and there's no one I could talk to. Apparently they don't even try to correct the information in the system. This does not make any sense. I would not rent truck at this location again.

Unfortunately this location did not provide me a 9' cargo van, per my online confirmation. Sb from this location contacted me a day prior to my reservation date, and confirmed my pickup location, drop off location and 9' cargo van. However, on the day of reservation they provide me with a 10' truck, declaring to me that they can not give away a 9' cargo van. When I looked into my account I observed that the order has been changed to 10' truck without coordinating with me. This is a complete example of dishonesty. I kept telling them that due to the clearance limitations of my apartment, my moving process would be so difficult with this truck and only a 9' cargo van works for me. I was told that I can contact the customer service and talk with them. I will definitely neither use Uhaul service again nor recommend it to a friend. I expect to be compensated for this.

my rental had less than 1/4 tank of gas in it when I picked it up. I told the agent that I needed to go 70-80 miles. he said it had at least 10 gallons of gas and that the truck got 12-15 miles/gallon. my trip used 71 miles, and I had to add gas after about 55 miles. this was very inconvenient. when I returned the truck, I told the person that I was dissatisfied with having to fill-up midway... he shrugged, and gave me a look that screamed " sorry, but I don't give a shit". weak customer service on each of my interactions with employees really irked me. probably will look for another source for truck rentals in the future.

you should invest in trucks with rear view camera since this becoming more common now. People who drive U-Haul vehicles are not use to the large size and may be cause for a lot of accidents. $1/mile charge seems steep as well.

The service personnel was exceptional. Very nice and professional. Unfortunately the trailer was wired incorrectly and caused a fuse to blow on our explorer. We were told it must be our car so when we returned later the truck we had identified that it was infact the trailer. This incurred a cost of $190 at the Ford dealer to have our explorer diagnosed and fixed. We later had to take the broken trailer from Milpitas to Campbell location to swap out the trailer as an "emergency swap" in order to make our travel plans. If everything would have been corrected and we would have be recognized for the impact to our own vehicle, then this would have rated much higher.

Sale Rep told me that I have a 3 hour grace period from the time I return my rental so that i didnt have to rush and only be charge for 1 day. But i was charge for 2 days and manager told me it was only 30min grace period. So there needs to be more training on the staff to make sure that everyone is on the same page on what they communicate to the customer. I was charge an extra $100 but couldnt give me a refund because our conversation was not recorded. This is my first review of any service/product that i've purchase so that tells how unhappy i am.

Only problem we had was that the key to the uhaul did NOT unlock the driver side door and after spending a lot of time on the passenger door we were able to get the door open. This caused a delay in returning the truck to the San Jose location.

There should be some designation for smoking and non smoking vehicles. Mine reeked of smoke, but because I only had it a few hours, I didn't want to be difficult. I had to drive with the windows down the whole time because of the smell. Customer service was great though

I've had so much drama with this and am extremely disappointed and upset.I made a specific reservation months in advance to have this work out not only did I not get the truck I reserved way ahead of time to be picked up Friday and brought back Saturday . A 26" foot truc to be exact. It got changed to Saturday. Then had me pick up a "17 foot truck in milpitas and a 6x12 trailer in the middle of San Jose .... Then to top it off It wasn't big enough due to having to move a 4 bedroom house. I loaded up and what do you know not enough room. Had to go all the way to Manteca unload and then go all the way back to San Jose to load AGIAN .... what didn't fit the first time. I spent so much more in gas to cover the trips and having to go out of my in so many ways. Not to mention I went over my allotted miles due to having to make 2 trips and still return all the equipment we rented. Then this lady Teri Teague in traffic div in fremont said into a phone on a recorded conversation that she hates this guy (meaning me) into the phone.She single handly rearranged my whole schedule this was a complete mess. She got an attitude with me over the phone because I had questions. Then to make matters worse the 2 uhaul places i went to both said they had 26' trucks but were reserved! I reserved months in advance and I get treated like this? I'm sorry but 50% of the bill is hardly acceptable. I called to formally complain about how Teri talked to me and was messing up my plans and then I get transferred from customer service to the lady I specifically said was messing everything up! I am completely frustrated.

Hello. Just taking the time to be courteous when explaining the fees involved in the rental would be nice. It had been awhile since I rented with U-haul and it seemed some things were different. The associate that helped did not seem interested in discussing my thoughts and abruptly reviewed the contract so that he could get me out of the office quickly. It makes me feel it may be time to look at other rental companies. That is unfortunate since I have used U-haul for 30 years now. Thank you. David

I like this U-haul place, and rent trailers from time to time. The prices are very reasonable. I wish they would clean up the driveway a little, because I'm afraid of my car tires getting a flat or damage. Also, a few weeks ago when I was returning a trailer they made me wait 15 minutes before unhooking it, because another customer's RV was blocking the parking place they wanted me to pull the trailer to. Another thing is that on my most recent rental, the license plate did not match the rental document. These are small things, and I try to put up with them due to the reasonable rental prices on trailers. But they are things that I would certainly like to see improvement on.

When I dropped off the cargo van, I was initially told that no cargo vans were accepted at this location and I'd have to drive it back to the original pickup location. I then needed to show the receipt to staff, listing that location as drop-off point. Only then was it checked in and accepted.

I would not recommend U-haul to anyone as the customer service experience was poor. Three weeks in advance I reserved a truck and scheduled moving helpers and the day before I was to pick up my truck, Uhaul notified me that a truck smaller than what I had ordered would be available 7.5 hours after I needed it. I dealt with 3 or 4 different CSRs from Uhaul, none of home acknowledged the mistake nor apologized. I will not use Uhaul again and will not recommend Uhaul to anyone I speak with.

There are certain things which are beyond control of any particular U-haul store. Like when I picked Truck & Trailer from 2 different locations, there was conflict in the drop of location, one overriding other to finally end up in a mess. I was not so "intelligent" enough to sort out for myself until the last moment. Anyway, I do not want to be another pampered customer. But I disliked the pay-take-forget attitude which is probably because a slack co-ordination b/w the stores which customer at the end can sense. Well, again that is obvious; every store franchise would care about their own not about the others. And as customer you take care about your own when u r customer of 2 different stores.

Have better redundancy in place for non-functioning credit card validation capability. Not able to rent out cargo vans when your credit card machine is not working is not a good way to do business. Other people have lives and deadlines too.

I had a reservation for 9am. I did not receive my truck unit 9:45. The credit card processer was. It working and had me run down 2 blocks to get cash. I had movers waiting for me being paid by the hour. Was not handled correct.

I don't like that uhaul says $29.99 a day and in actuality it is closer to $80.00...plus gas, but that has to do with corporate not the location. This location was awesome. Friendly, fast service is the best and your location met that!
