When I returned the truck, there was no one working there who could examine it to see that there was no damage. That made me very nervous bcs I know someone who was charged for damage they didn't do to a rental car. The guy who worked there didn't know anything about U Haul and wouldn't even write on my contract that I brought it back without damage - VERY FRUSTRATING. Never going there again.Julie P.

Management of the location was terrible. Only had the the vehicle in my possession for 1 hr and a half, drove it for 10 miles. I was charged with additional 170 miles due to the miles not being inputed/updated correctly from the previous trip. After explaining to the employee and showing him pictures, letting him know that it's was impossible for me to drive 170 miles in a 1 hr and a half duration. He simply didn't know what to do in this situation. They charged me by default. He said to contact the owner to see how they would go about it. It's been a back and forth, still haven't came to a conclusion.Anthony M.

You have really watered down your business model with these independent locations. The pick up location was a liquor store. The first employee had no idea how to utilize the equipment. Then the person who had a rough idea took 45 mins to complete the computer inputs required and provide the keys to the vehicle. Also, their printer did not work, so they were unable to provide me with any type of contract or receipt. The individual asked if he could take a picture of his computer screen with my phone camera so I could have some sort of documentation. A complete disaster and huge waste of time at this location. U-Haul and customer service have nothing in common.ANTHONY W.
I reserved the truck and picked it up a few days later. After I was on the road uhaul changed my drop off location without my consent. As a result I had to drive two hours out of my way to return it.THOMAS N.

It took 30 minutes for the staff to get to me (the prioritized people coming through the gas station buying cigarettes). I had already filled out all my information online. The amount of work needed was very minimal but I had reserved a dolly and wanted to pick that up, so the app wouldn't work. They did not have a dolly. The truck had a low tire & the engine light was on for that. They told me to air up the tire. Not really at the top of the game.Joseph B.

I downloaded the Ap to make it easier for me to pick up the truck. It took me 10 minutes after I'd arrived on site to complete all the procedures. I did this as an on line because I didn't want to go inside because I've been self isolating for over two months. After going through all the on line requirements, I had to go inside the store to pick up the keys to the truck. The line was at least 20 people long so I had to stand inside the store for more than 15 minutes to get to the register.Caroline S.
This location was having a lot of problems with their "system". I think they might need a new computer. They turned away several people with reservations despite having tons of trucks in the parking lot. They lost my reservation (or couldn't access it). After waiting for over an hour, I got the number of the person who is in charge, and he was very helpful and ultimately we were able to get the truck. The truck had a half full tank of gas and did not include the furniture pads or dolly that I reserved (and was charged for). Unfortunately, I will not rent from here in the future.Avery H.

Representatives were friwndly and professional. Information entered online didn't appear to be available. Had to re-entered. Windshield was dirty; representative only partially cleaned it. Otherwise, vehicle was clean and well-maintained.WILLIAM N.
The floor of the truck was dirty, but aside from that it was fine. I did request and confirm a 17 foot truck for $29.95 but the day of the rental it was changed to 20 foot truck for $39.95. I let the agent know who I spoke on the phone with who said she couldn't change the amount so I followed up via message through the app and never got any response. I feel like I was tricked into spending $10 more dollars. If I was allowed to rent a 17 foot truck but then UHaul no longer had one available and had to upgrade the size, I should not have been charged more.Gregory G.

It's a convenience/liquor store location, the only way I could tell this was the drop off location was the navigation on my phone said this was the address and there was another uhaul truck parked there.Richard R.

My local contract connected me to regional manager who is able to arrange the truck I wanted and have it at the location for me to pick up. I was picking it up on Mother's Day and they arranged a special time so that everybody could be with mother and I could pick up the truck. Great guy.grant L.
The clerk was well meaning but clearly unequipped for the job. Stared at the screen perplexed for minutes at a time, with people in line clearly frustrated. You need to establish some minimum ability to do the job quickly and efficiently- even if they're new or ESL.Christopher D.
I had a on line reservation and it took more than 30 min to locate the key for the rental. I will not ever use this location to rent a vehicle from. Additionally the truck was filthy. When I returned the truck, they wouldn't check me in and said I would have to wait until the morning. Your smart phone application is marginal at best. I will use Penske next time I need a truck .William E.
Rental was there and ready on time .... I wish that the truck was better equipped in case if an emergency tho ...there were no jumper cables and no Jack in the truck and seems like those things should come standard in case there's a flat tire or dead battery ..just a thoughtpatrick Q.

I tried to return my rental keys to the man behind the counter because I didn't see a drop box, and he insisted I needed to check out with him. I said no, the app said I was done, I know I'm done. Very little help, and took forever to do anything. Very poor English spoken at this location, and there is no cell service. So using the app to check in was not working. He Helped the store customers before me a bunch of times when there totals were $10-$20 and my truck rental cost $1,100. Dirty truck dust on everything dead bugs in cup holders. They had a brand new truck on the lot and he gave me this piece of garbage. after 100 miles the check engine light came on. Dropping off the truck took an hour!! Never ever ever again.rob C.

The staff at Monticello are terrible. They provide no customer service. They gave me a different truck than I had reserved and it came without a ramp. The clerk told me he checked the mileage, but when I went out to verify the mileage was off. The clerk said he would change it in the system. When I came to return the truck there was no one to help me; the person who eventually helped me didn't speak much English. Come to find out, the clerk had not changed my mileage in the system. And, at the end of the day, I still had to rent a second truck with a ramp since the Monticello location gave me the wrong truck - which added to my expense and headache. Thankfully, I rented my truck from Napa Gas - far better customer service and experience. I will never recommend Monticello to anyone - I will advise everyone to go to Napa Gas. Monticello could benefit from a better manager.Hilary C.

not this locations fault but I was scheduled to pickup in Fairfield, not Napa and wasn't notified, these guys didn't have blankets, they found some, again, not their fault but lame you couldn't let me know before hand....will try ryder or Penske maybe I spent hours driving to get a truck I reserved.Mark F.

The people running the Valley Liquor & Gas Station seem to have no idea how to run the uhaul rental pick-up/drop-off. I arrived at 8:15 am to pick-up my truck and the guy running the cashier did not understand what I was there for. After explaining I was there to pick up my truck, we then slowly got me the required paperwork (after 15 minutes of doing I don't know what) to sign. I had reserved a dolly along with the truck and when I asked about the dolly, the guy said that he didn't have any dollies. I told him that I reserved it online and that is was important that I needed it to move. He just looked at me blankly and said he didn't have any in stock. It wasn't until another customer came in to return his truck (again the guy did not understand that the customer was returning the keys to the truck he had rented the previous day) that a dolly appeared. I asked the customer if he had a dolly in his truck and he replied yes. So I then explained to the guy TRYING to run the uhaul rental place that I needed to use this particular dolly. So frustrating and what should have taken about 20 minutes took 45 minutes. SO ridiculous. Upon returning my truck, there was another customer in front of me in line who was telling the same guy running the drop-off/pick-up location that she reserved a dolly and packing blankets to which he responded by arguing with her telling her she did not and that he didn't have any blankets or dollies available. I told the customer that she could use my dolly in my truck because I was returning it. She voiced how she could not believe how unprofessional and POORLY run this place was. I would never rent from this location again and suggest that Uhaul go out to this location to see what the heck is going on there!!!!!!! Not impressed.Meghan A.

This location was horrible. It took us 40 minutes to pay for our U-Haul, the workers are slow, stressed, and seem like they have no clue how to do their job. I'm pissed that I had to pay what I did for a U-Haul because it made my partner late to work which means he didn't make as much money but we had to spend over $100 on a vehicle that ended up making him late because of those workers.Miguel C.
The drop off was awful. The only person working there ran the convenience store and gas station, so uhaul pick up and drop offs were backing up. I waited over half an hour to drop off the truck. The guy working was clearly overwhelmed and didn't seem to know what he was doing at all. On the plus side, the pick up was great. The complete opposite of the drop off!Amber P.

Booked the truck and moving items well I'm advance via my uhaul account. Website was easy and received a confirmation a few days out I Arrived to location and it took an awful long time for the associate to find reservation and complete check-in. The associate handed me the key and said I was done. I wanted to truck and no additional items reserved were present. No hand truck , no Furniture dollies, and no furniture pads. I had to ask for the items and he said they didn't have any of them.... but he would look for pads. He disappeared and came out with 36 damp pads, no other pre-reserved items. I have rented uhaul trucks many times, but this location takes the cake for disorganization and were not prepared. I would not recommend this location and will not use them again.James P.

I have used U-Haul a lot over the years- many moves of different lengths. This was the cab that was the dirtiest ever in 25+ years. I prayer the squeaky truck would get me the 5 hours north with lots of steep grades and curves. Also did not have dolly I reserved- attendant gave me the only dolly on the lot which was an appliance dolly. Don't think he knew the difference. Wackiest rental experience ever... just waiting to find out if all the paperwork and charges are mucked up too.SARA D.

Very bad Customer Service, I would never go back to this location, starting with the Cashier who spoke poor English! I paid with $100.00 he didn't want to give cash back because I'd pay when returning the U-HAUL back, which by the way he told me to drop it off by 8pm when they close at 6pm. He is charging me a ridiculous amount, including gas when i left the tank exactly how i got it. I feel i am getting ripped off and there's no way arguing because the clerk is extremely rude and argumentative. They're clueless how to run this type of business.Maria D H.
