The folks at Valley Self Storage in Purcellville were great and solved a problem for me that I had with U-Haul earlier. I made arrangements online to rent the truck one-way from Purcellville to Richmond. I was scheduled to pick it up at Valley self storage. The day before the rental, I got a message from someone in Winchester Virginia telling me I needed to come out there to pick the truck up in order to rent it one way. That was ridiculous because that's an hour drive to Winchester for me and another hour back and there was no way I was going to have time to do that, then load the truck and go to Richmond, and get everything done I needed to do. Very disappointing and if there's anything that I'm unhappy with UHaul about that is it. As I previously said the people at Valley Self storage were able to help me out. Unfortunately I did have to rent the truck round-trip which made many last minute changes in our plans arriving in Richmond. Seems to me if this is the case in the future U-Haul should go out of their way to inform the customer so that they can change their plans accordingly. So to summarize I had lousy customer service from U-Haul in general but the people at Valley self storage went out of their way to attempt to resolve the issue for me which I'm truly grateful for.Michael O.

UHaul representative arrived late and did not direct customer to truck (customer had to try three trucks with key). Moving blankets forgotten and customerr had to return. Customer told the gas tank was 3/4 full and had to be returned that way, but tank was actually 1/2 full.Christopher C.
This location was fine, overall my experience with U-Haul was horrendous. I booked a truck well in advance, and yet my location was moved 5 times in the last 2 days. I would talk to one person and then 5 minutes later get a call from someone else changing the reservation. This happened more than once. I thought things were settled, then I get an e-mail that my reservation has been changed at 1:00am. We go to that place and were told our reservation is still at the original place. All in all, we had to drive 45 minutes to get the truck, drive it back; then move, take the truck 45 min back instead of our original pick-up and drop-off location.Amanda C.

The uhaul app does not operate correctly. It will not allow 'click through' functionality. Preventing the ability to add photos etc. The web portal was the only way I could complete this drop-off. Using an Android.Zackary P.

Overall most things were really great. I had to change the reservation several times and ended up adding another driver and didn't have any issues doing so. It was very easy to set everything up online. The only issue I had was during the contactless pickup. I scheduled to pick up the truck before the office opened but the instructions were unclear. We didn't know which truck was ours and the app wouldn't let us continue with the pickup process until we were directly in front of the truck. Thankfully an employee came to the office early that day and was able to help us but if he didn't we may have been stuck there for over an hour. Overall the experience was great but the contactless pickup instructions could be more detailed.CODYSTEPHEN G.

The app did not work when we tried to return the truck, so I had to call customer service to check us out manually. In addition, we rented the truck for two days but that didn't show up in the system so I received a few calls from the location saying I had to return the truck a day earlier and I had to sort it out with them.Mathew Y.

I had a moving truck reservation for the Leesburg store at 10am. They didn't have my truck--and the staff person knew it the day prior and did nothing. They sent me to Purcellville to get a truck. Upon arrival, there was no truck for me. I spent 10 minutes on hold three times trying to find an answer. No one picked up. Ever. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It took me over 2 hours to pick up the vehicle because the app wasn't showing my reservation even though customer service had it in the system. I was also put on hold 3 times with customer service which totaled 45 minutes. Once I finally got the truck and opened the roll up door it got wedged in the top and required two of us to get it unstuck. All of this was documented with customer service last night who said I should hear something from the regional manager. As of now I have not heard from anyone. I believe I am entitled to a full refund. If not I will never do business with U-Haul againDonald L.

Mostly not happy with U-haul as I had to drive an extra 25 miles to pick up truck from Purceville location.when one was not available (as promised previous day) from Sterling location ... was told gas was 5/8 tank and then was charged $7.50 for gas at return place even though I drove extra 25 miles to bring truck to house and returned with 5/8 tank.Donald D.

It would be nice if your mobile return web page said something near the start to alert the user to the need to take and upload several specific photos of the equipment. But I did like the mobile return experience, mostly because I could fit the return to my schedule with no worries about delays.Daryl R.

We live in a time of a pandemic that has taken over 100,000 lives by now, and I would have thought that a company your size would have learned something, but alas I was proven wrong. Not only did my experience make me feel unsafe, it also made me wonder what you are doing to mitigate / reduce potential transmission of the virus in your company trucks and offices. I had wanted to check my truck out without walking into an office, but once I arrived to pickup the truck it was not possible to do so. I had to go into a stuffy, small, un-ventilated office, where the worker had no mask and had no gloves. That is very unsafe and unsanitary in these conditions. You do not deserve even $1 of what you charged me for the way you treat your workers and your customers.Armik M.

The UHaul 24/7 feature was a disaster. It took me 90 minutes and 5 different "helpline" calls to finally execute the "Pick Up My Truck" feature. There are inconsistencies within their application that must be fixed. For starters, UHaul should require that you download the app, There are too many cellphone versions/releases they have not planned for. The app is the only way to overcome. And, if you are in a location where you don't have a really, really strong/high speed connection some of the actions required are nearly impossible. And, some of the actions required are just plain silly. The whole thing may look good on paper, but the UHaul tech execution is lousy.PKathleen L.
