The location was under staffed for a Saturday, especially since it is near a large military base. I waited in line for service for more than 45 minutes; the manager was polite and professional but very over worked. He was trying to accommodate services for several customers simultaneously and also provide assist to the one other staff person that was working initially alone.

Anthony does a great job of working with the customers. Everything was explained to me perfectly. He could use an assistant during peak hours or days with a high number of reservations. The assistant could walk with the customer to locate the vehicles or equipment, which would free up Anthony to continue checking in/out customers efficiently. Thank you for allowing me to comment.

Anthony was very helpful and professional when I picked up the vehicle. The young lady I spoke with from customer service when I called to extend the rental an extra day was pleasant and professional as well. I plan to use this U-Haul location again and will recommend to friends and family.

Email shows lower gas returned than marked I returned the rental van with more gas than the contract says I had to. When the final assessment of gas was done, the amount of gas (marked in my email) was actually marked lower than when I had returned it. Somebody recorded it incorrectly.

I went to the location on Forestville Road because it was closer to my storage unit; not knowing that they was limited on space. I ended up dropping the truck off at the Allentown Road location. The customer rep at the Forestville Road location was not as nice as the Customer Rep at the Allentown Road (in and out in 3 minutes).

One concern was with the cargo roll up door. The door retracted beyond its stop point and got stuck. It took about 1/2 hour for me and another person helping to get the doors latch hardware past the top lip in order to get to close. If I didn't have help that would have caused me a huge delay with possiably having to wait for a Uhaul service vendor or have to drive back (2hrs.) with the rear cargo door open. Barry Washington

Darell provided awesome customer service. He greeted everyone as the walked in with a "Good morning." Oftentimes greeting customers gets overlooked, so that was an added bonus. Many peopl are going through things and that simple gesture may make a hectic move easier.

Initial contact was the Central ave location.Stated Dolley was available, went through process paid for Dolley, went to rear of facility to hook up Dolley to be told it was not available. Over an hour wasted, not including gas and "hold" placed on credit card. Central Ave location needs to improve on management. Since this was the second time renting a tow Dolley it appears that additional Dolleys are needed at more locations.

The people were great and very professional and courteous. The only issue I had was that the truck I used, for some reason would give me the seatbelt alarm while driving even though I had my seatbelt on. Not sure what that was about but it might need to get looked at.

Darrell the gm was professional and prompt and made the experience fast and simple. After i had a bad experience at st Barnabas rd waiting an hr then having to waste gas to come to Allentown rd. The trainee had issues at st barnabas rd. No gm or sup was available to assist. Then he said the system shut dwn after waiting a hr almost. I was very disappointed until i went to darrell.

It was deceptive to advertise $19.00 for a day and then charge me 1 dollar a mile totaling $78. for 4 hours use. I feel as though I was deceived via switch and bait and will not make this mistake again. The staff was helpful and polite.

If a customer reserves a truck for 4 hours, then the receipt should reflect the time return when the paperwork was printed out. Ex: reserved for 9am-1pm; waited in line and waited for help to load truck with accessory; left lot at 9:22am; then paperwork should say return at 9:22am . Wasn't charge anything extra but paperwork stated return at 1pm and I felt rush because I didn't want to be charge over the amount.

Kudos to Darrell, who checked us in quickly. He even apologized for the truck needing to be blown out before we used it. A little bit put off by the young man, (he never gave his name & I failed to ask him), who checked us out when we returned the truck. He kept insisting the tank was a tad shy of 3/4 required when you turn it in. We told him that Darrell had said to us it was shy of 3/4 of a tank & would make a note. He started and turned off the vehicle 3 times insisting it was short of what was required, and of course by then, he burned more gas starting it over and over. In the long run, he accepted it and got us processed quickly. A little customer service goes a long way in the cultivation of repeat business.

There was only one representative in the store and the line was long. I waited for nearly twenty minutes to be helped. Corporate needs to do a better job in supporting its stores. Also we were billed separately with two charges on our card. This was not properly explained upon purchase so we know what to expect. We were not satisfied with uhaul.

Everything went well except for gas. Although it wasd $19.95 for the truck rental, the gas was $1.59 per mile. At $2.20 per gallon of gas average in this area, I think it was high. I guess that it how this business goes, but I think it is too much.

William Gary provided excellent service. The previous Uhaul on St Barnbas Rd, did not have my truck ready, I was sent to Allentown Rd and excellent service was provided by William Gary. I was very inconvenient of driving to St Barnbas MD, for nothing only to find out my truck was not ready.

Anthony checked us out and was courteous, patient, friendly, knowledgeable and thorough of U-haul service provisions. The young man who checked us in at the end of day was very pleasant, quick and thorough in reviewing our file, the truck and equipment. He spoke clear, confident and was appreciative that we cleaned the truck and maintained the fuel requirement. He even made sure our 26' truck arrived in time at his location per our reservation (thank God!) as the previous renter wanted to keep it longer. Way to go young man ??. This was a holiday weekend and this location could have used more staff around the 3 o'clock hour as there were 4 customers in line when we were done. Facility clean, we'll organized inside and outside. Thank you for a seamless experience.

The inside of the truck was not clean. There were ashes in the ashtray and the inside smelled like cigarettes. The dashboard was also really dusty. Please inspect and/or wipe clean the inside of the trucks after each use.

I had a 9:15 am reservation. I arrived at 9:00 just to make sure I was on time, However upon my arrival there was only 1 gentleman working the store alone. Checking in people and getting the trucks. I stayed in line for a hour and was very displeased.

Service was great once I waited on. Due to illness of one of the employees there was only one person doing everything I.e. Receiving, cleaning, checking mileage on returns, as well helping customers picking up. My hats off to employee who had to do everything as he did it all without complaining or being rude to customers. A7:00am pickup turned into 7:45 pickup.

Originally where I wanted to pick up but somehow my reservation was changed and the only reason I found out is because I called and was running late and was informed I was picking up at a different location; even thought I dialed the number from my reservation email which was the last communication I received from u haul; when I asked about the $50 guarantee the girl didn't know what I was talking about and no one was there to assist. Just a very confusing and ANNOYING process considering moving is already difficult enough!

Upgrade truck. Felt like driving Fred G. Sanford truck. Gas was lower than contract, not the first time. No one answered phone entire day. Tried to use location for convenience , but now I will go extra miles for quality with a different brand. I may have to use your location again , only as convince. Make sure that the customer and the rental agent agree on the amount of gas in the vehicle. That can sometimes be a bit subjective. I used a van to go 9 miles and was charged for more than 2 gallons of gas.

I've gone to this gentle once earlier this year and he's outstanding with the Custemer service. He saw me pulling into the parking both times and he went outside to greet me and tell me where I can park the vehicle. Very helpful and polite. So I went out of my way to drive to his location and dropped off my uhaul at his location again. Great service will use this 4599 Allentown Rd, MD location again for any of my uhual rentals.

Although the reps at the location were courteous and efficient, the reps on the phone gave me a headache. I called two locations to determine if the appropriate size trailer was available. On the first call I was connected to reps on site and they provide information on availability within 30 seconds. Since they did have the proper equipment, I called the local number for my second choice. Instead of speaking to reps at 4599 Allentown Rd., I was connected to a call center where I received terrible service. When I asked about availability, I bombarded by pointless questions about the constituent items I would be moving and If I would be returning to the equipment to same location, the make and model of my vehicle. This went on for several minutes until I refused to answer any more questions until the rep answered my question about availability. Only when I insisted she answer my question did she realize the she looking for equipment in the wrong location. Then, after reciting the above address three times, she said she could locate or identify the Uhaul address in her computer. At that point l asked to speak to a manager. The manager did only marginally better. The whole conversation took more than twenty minutes - to rent a $15 trailer. It was amazingly frustrating. It would be much easier it Uhaul saves my vehicle information along with my phone number and name on my profile. Then I wouldn't have to justify my vehicle particulars including engine type and towing capacity every time I call. Argh!

I rent from this uhaul quite frequently. I never have any issues. But I recently rented an auto transport that turned out to be a nightmare. I drove with the trailer to pick up a car 5 hours away. On the way, the ramps came out of their compartment several times as I was on the highway. I finally got to a rest stop.and purchased bungee cords to secure them. That wasn't cool at all. Once I got to my destination, I loaded the vehicle and one of the tires was very very low. I put air in it . I had to find a station and pay for air. Not happy. The tire was going low rapidly and I was pressed for time to return home and get to work. The trailer swerved all over the road and every hour I had to find a gas station and get air. Furthermore, I couldn't go any faster than 42 mph. A five hours trip turned into an 8.5 hour trip. I made a complaint to the you haul office as well as the customer service center that takes their calls. I was supposed to get a call back . But I never did. Now someone else will probably go through the same ordeal that I went through.. Get rid of old equipment OR maintain it properly. This was totally unacceptable. Sadly, I will go back. But I will never use older equipment again AND I'll have them check and recheck the tires. Unhappy customer

The staff that closed on Tuesday evening were superb. I witnessed a client come in just before closing and still the staff greeted the customer with professionalism and tact. My personal experience was amazing as well. I was waiting for an uber ride and it was rainy really hard.The staff allowed me to wait inside and made sure that my uber ride was infact safe and correct. Thanks so much for allowing me to see and experience a great staff.

We had such a terrible experience that we can never recommend U Haul to anyone. I encourage everyone at Andrews Air Force Base to AVOID the U Haul location on Allentown Road just outside the front gate. If you must use U Haul choose another location. It’s really unfortunate because everyone at the district, region and corporate level was polite, pleasant and helpful as possible. I made a reservation on Monday for the following Saturday in November. First, the U Haul Website indicated that a location near the base (not the Allentown location) had a 26’ truck. Then I got a text saying if I wanted a 26 footer I’d have to drive an hour into Washington DC to pick it up. So the information on the website was inaccurate to begin with. I cancelled the 26 footer because of the distance and not wanting to drive a 26’ truck through DC traffic. The only thing available was a 17 footer from the Allentown location. When I checked the truck out the representative said “There is a check engine light on, but disregard it, it’s nothing to worry about. We’re aware of it and we’ll fix it when you bring it back.” I’ve owned cars that displayed check engine lights for extended periods and ran fine, so I took his word for it. Turned out to be a bad mistake. I drove to my house on the base (only about 2 miles) where I had paid a DITY moving crew to load the truck and unload later at new house. I had paid the crew for 4 hours. We drove the fully loaded truck 10 to 12 miles & it stopped running right in the middle of MD route 301, a 6 lane expressway. Took 4 calls to roadside assistance and 3 ½ hours to get a tow truck. They finally took action only after the Maryland state patrol stated they were going to tow the truck to a state impound lot (with all my belongings in it) if U Haul didn’t send someone in the next 30 minutes. Even then, it took an hour. By the time the truck was towed to my new house, the 4 hours I paid the moving crew for were long past and they had left. If not for some kind neighbors and friends it would have taken hours or days to unload the truck. We were told to call once finished unloading and they would tow the truck out of our driveway. It took them a day and a half after we called to come and collect the truck. I called the following Monday to make sure they would not charge me & reached some sort of district office, attempted to transfer me to the location directly, but the call was forwarded automatically to a call center in another state since the Allentown location had their call forwarding on (it never even rang). It took 3 or 4 phone calls, each time being forwarded to a district or regional call center as no one picked up at the location, until I reached the corporate offices. A representative there took down my information and said she would arrange for a full refund. We do not recommend anyone rent from U Haul.

The gentleman was very kind but he was the only employee there that morning. That made the wait for us and others too long, therefore creating a negative customer experience. The truck that we rented for our 560 mile move was very old and very hard to manage while driving it. The truck had over 100K miles on it. Maybe the older trucks need to be removed from the fleet or rented only for shorter trips.
