I'm leaving from the storage unit because of the customer service it lacks good customer service, when they mop the storage unit floors it wet up my merchandise so some of my merchandise has mold on it My storage unit stay damp and wet and it's supposed to be inside unit,, I've been with U-Haul over 7 years now because I run a photo booth company and this is where I like to store my merchandise right here with U-Haul. Luckily I'm going back to the new center area because they opened up their first floor with storage units I am happy to say I would not be leaving U-Haul I'm just leaving off of Joy road 😊 I really do enjoy the convenience that U-Haul provides.

Jeanetta Roland | Overall ExperienceI must give UHaul a poor rating because I am highly disappointed. I rented a storage on December 26, 2023 at Uhaul on Joy Rd in Detroit. I moved out on Friday December 29, 2023. The first unit was vacated because the code would not allow access without coming across the street to ask for help accessing the unit. I upgraded to a larger sized unit but the lock was not able to be put on the unit without coming across the street for assistance to ask someone to help put it on. I have rented another unit at another facility and would like a refund. I was not able to enter into the storage unit without asking the busy clerk to follow me across the street to let me into the unit because the access panel was broken so I could not use the entrance pass. I upgraded to a larger unit hoping I would have a better experience but not so! I still needed to go across the street to ask the busy clerk to help me put the lock onto the unit because the lock lock placement hook was misaligned. The attendant had to use a screw driver to hold the latch together in order for the lock to be installed. I removed my belongings and found another storage location so that I could have complete access without bothering the clerks. I have since left a voicemail and text message asking for a refund with the general manager Dame and have not heard back. I also called customer service and was told they would contact him and ask him to call me back.

Shannon Perry | Overall ExperienceStaff informed me that I could return the truck to this facility without charging a wrong location fee. Jaylan (he identified himself as assistant manager said he will not do that). After unloading the vehicle I had to drive it to the other location. He was rude and hostile. The storage unit itself was dark, dingy, and dirty. It had no lights and had huge rat traps in there. I only continued with the rental because I packed all day the day before and drove for hours to get there. I had a loaded truck and nowhere else to store at last minute. I will never recommend this nasty location. The assistant manager was as nasty as the unit.

Michele Glenn | Overall ExperienceI came into the location early that morning to inquire about my particular unit asked to see the unit I was told it wasn’t available yet for viewing but I was assured it was big enough for all my items. Only to arrive with my items and it not be big enough the gentleman at the desk was not knowledgeable or helpful with product info. If it wasn’t for the gentleman on the afternoon shift I would have not been helped. The general manager of the location has a arrogance about himself which is not professional when I picked my truck up he was not helpful when asking questions he just answered as he walked away not standing and trying to help. I ordered a dolly I was told it had been loaded only to get to my house start loading the truck only to realize I gotta go back to get it. The whole morning crew there were not helpful. The gentleman in the evening was very helpful
SHANITA ROSS | First ImpressionsI had a horrible experience the last two days with Uhaul and their customer service and I came in expecting a smooth provess. The gentleman at the Joy rd location completely mad my day by owning and fixing the issue even when it was not his fault!! He deserves a raise or promotion because no one else took that initiative they all just sent me to different uhaul places using more miles and gas in the uhaul in the end!

We expected after hours access to our unit but later learned the units on the office side are kept under lock and key and only accessible during office hours. Staff was mostly professional. Facility seems maintained other than age and dry wall damage. No issues to report.
