Customer Reviews

We reserved a 10 ft truck to move furniture 4 hours upstate. I went to pick up the truck after an hour subway ride and they refused to rent it unless I had a cell phone. Even after calling the manager they refused.I needed to travel back home for another hour to get the cell from my wife and then travel back again. This was a total of 4 hours before I sat in the truck. I had several ID's and they could have called my wife who had the cell. We had help that we were paying $35 an hour just standing around waiting. Instead of it costing us $35 it cost me $175 to pay a worker to load the truck. To make matters worse we needed to drive in the dark which we never do at 70 years old.

lots of trucks & trailers

It’s incredibly obnoxious that they insist on calling a second person’s number besides the main driver’s. What possible purpose could this be for? They already have your credit card, your driver’s license, your cell phone number which they have verified...why are you bothering my friends and family?!

I was billed for fuel (just $6.00), despite returning vehicle with more fuel than I received. Upon receiving my final bill, I sent a picture of the corrected fuel level from Washington DC location to the email address for responses on my bill. More than money, what bothered me most was that I received no response. I double checked the specified address, resent the email and still received no response. On the plus side, I was very pleased with the billing for a toll on a highway section that did not allow cash payment. Uhaul communication was clear and the administrative fee very reasonable.

The only thing that I would improve with renting at U-Haul is the fact that I picked a location that was convenient for me, I did this a few weeks before and the day before I was supposed to pick up the trailer, I was given a location that was a 2 hr round trip for me. So I had to pick up the trailer a day ahead of time. I believe this can be improved.

I didnt under stand how two gallons of gas was $13. Because i was told it was $4 a gallon. That shouldve been $8. But overall it was okay. No hassle.

Rented Trailer in Feb. to go to NYC. Cost was $129.24 for a 5X8. Tried to rent 4X8 to come back to Mount Dora from NYC. Cost was $479.86 but ended up being a 5X8. That was totally unexpected cost differential.

The whole staff was very short tempered and did the bare minimum. Lots of angry shouting in the background the entire time. The person who handled my check out answered my questions with distrust and suspicion. I was tersely required to confirm my phone number and add an additional one that also had to be confirmed on the spot. Luckily I had another person with me so I could comply or I guess I couldn't have picked up my rental??When I questioned the policy I was not given a clear answer. The experience was not fun but it was functional I suppose.

I'm not sure why so many phone numbers were required. Otherwise great.

The personal that delivers the unit, and the ones that receives it when I return it. Is really awful. The deliver with really bad attitude. The same thing with the personal staff, they only understand the bad way.

Gas gauge was difficult to read. I paid and put gas in the van before dropping it off, but it was still charged so gas refilling is a big guess.
