My Equipment was not on site when I arrived after a confirmed reservation at 8:30am was given via email and phone. I had hired a moving company to help me move my items into my trailer and due to the delay of not having the equipment in your lot, I had to pay them overtime, costing me $1,200. Your staff was unfriendly. Laura was rude, and Hazel, the GM was not on site either. This experience in its entirety was unprofessional and disappointing. This was not my first time using your service, but it will certainly be the last.

I was required to provide THREE phone numbers to rent a vehicle. I don't understand how my mother answering a phone several hours away makes my renting a van any more secure. You've already got my number & my email, whoever else's number I give has no financial responsibility for the vehicle so it's literally useless. They also ~lost~ our van when we returned it. Lost it. I got several phone calls from UHaul about it, spent like 30-40 minutes on hold & being transferred, only to be told that the location was just really backed up and hadn't even tried to check the vehicle in yet. It would make more sense in that situation to check in with the branch before you start calling customers telling them their rental is overdue and to call you immediately. Just terrible experience top to bottom. The people I spoke with were fine, it's just a really bad process.

I returned the truck a day early and received a call the next day saying I hadn't returned the truck yet. Today I received my receipt with a charge for an extra day. Unacceptable and will be using a different vendor moving forward unless they are able to reverse the charges.

Your return vehicle procedure is twisted. Your worker are depending on your new sign up return that their not doing their job. I turned in my rental 2 hrs before time (3 o'clock return ) and 7 pm I receive a call asking when am i returning van.

Dropped truck off and employee only gave us partial information on self-check out. Had to go back to complete the process only to be told the check-out had been completed and I should "trust them" that a receipt was on the way. When I did get the receipt it showed an "over mileage charge" of $10.80. 12 of the 27 miles were because of pickup and drop-off locations. There were U-Haul sites much closer to trip start and end locations. The mileage should be from address where trip actually starts and ends so customers don't have to pay for extra miles imposed by U-Haul. Overall---I think the system needs fixing.

I spent over an hour talking with several U-Haul representatives to rent a truck. I was repeatedly told the size l needed was unavailable. I was eventually sold on renting a smaller truck and and additional ramp. I wasn’t satisfied, which prompted me to spend additional hours trying to secure another truck from other companies. When l finally found a truck from another company (which was smaller than the size l needed), I called U-Haul to cancel my existing reservation. When l explained the reasoning for my cancellation, the representative at the local branch resolved the issue within minutes. This was a terrible experience, and l think it stems from an inability for the company to rent trucks from a centralized “corporate” location. Reservations seems to be handled much more efficiently by local branches. Finally, after that experience, and accidentally over-filling the tank, l was slightly annoyed that l had to pay an additional fee for mileage from NY to Philadelphia. I’m sure much research has been conducted to determine the total mileage allotted (113 miles), but l drove straight and ended up with (114.7 miles) it really didn’t matter the cost, it was the principle. I think there should be a an extra gas provision for anyone that is over 3-5 miles.

Make clear which is the return entrance into station. Greater space between brake and gas pedals. Moved in rain so metal mounting rear board gets very slippery. An entrance mounting step up into cab would be helpful. Gas fill-up pump in station upon return with competitive prices. Mandatory insurance Representative to greet and guide you to check out station position upon check out Explanation of dash board light ‘Truck/tow’ if not towing.

Improve the long wait for service. I had to wait for 45 minutes before getting a truck for which I had completed the reservation and registration online in advance.

Policy of calling multiple people to verify does not make sense. Firstly you do not disclose the requirement. Secondly it seems to achieve very little. Thirdly its extremely painful as it requires people to be available at the exact time you are picking up. If the goal is to prevent fraud consider requiring a credit card deposit similar to what most rental car companies do.

Despite the fact that I checked in online, I had to wait 25 minutes to pick up the truck. There were only 3-4 customers ahead of me, and there were 3 customer service agents. The process was very slow! And when it was my turn, they wanted FOUR DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBERS, and wanted to call several of them. I haven't had such background screening EVER when renting a car from Hertz in the USA, Germany, Belgium, France, or Italy.

Maybe let people know during on-line reservation, email or pop up that you have changed your policy and now require multiple phone numbers to physically get the rental. It’s really awesome when you’re on a tight schedule and then have to unexpectedly call people early in the morning until someone picks up. (And... C’mon... verifying my cell in front of me and then having to call and tell some random person in my phone book that i’m renting a truck and is that ok?) Weird that you treat your customers like children or criminals. You have my license, my CC, my rental history (2-3 times a year for work and moving) over the last several years including driving a 26’ truck across country, but all of a sudden you don’t trust me that i’m giving you my real number.. and then I need permission from my wife and her sister in Texas to rent a truck? Ridiculous.... WTF... Thankfully there’s a Budget rental nearby the next time I need a truck.

Why do I need *3* phone numbers to rent a truck?! First, I wasn't told of this ahead of time, and second, I had to find people who were available and willing to take a random call from UHaul on my behalf.

This whole experience was a complete mess. (my 2nd awful experience with UHaul). My original pickup was at 666 Washington Avenue. After going through the pick up process with the app (about an hour) they Key in the box did not match my van. Then after live chatting an EXTREMELY rude customer service rep that was zero help I had to call customer service and get transferred to a new location for pickup. I had to take a taxi there are back and pay even more money for U Haul's mistake. Once at the new pickup location, we waited in line for 45 minutes before even being helped. The line was not long but the staff seemed incompetent. I checked in for my van 3 different times (giving phone numbers, IDs etc) It took an hour an half of waiting and being passed form employee to employee to finally get a van. Original pickup was 11 am. I did not get a van until after 2. I will never use or recommend U Haul again. A complete disaster from beginning to end.
