The on line reservations are horrible. I made my reservation on line to pickup van from Morris Plains UHaul and had print outs to prove it. But the day before my reservation I got a text and phone call saying I was to pick it up from Newark which was 2 hours away! Spent about 1/2 hour on phone with UHaul customer service trying to get it straightened out.

While this was not this location's fault I had made a reservation to pickup in Scotch Plains and was notified a day before that the reservation was moved to this location. It was a huge inconvenience to have drive 45 minutes out of my way to pickup the rental instead of 5 minutes like originally planned. I had to change my entire moving plan because of this.

I had something unexpected come up and I stopped by with no notice and asked if they would lend me a van overnight and allow me to leave my car in their lot. They did both! I was very thankful and lucky!

I have used U Haul many times in the past but, this time was so unacceptable I am not sure there are enough character spaces for me to elaborate. It started with setting up the online account...there was a MAJOR malfunction with entering my credit card information. Of the 4 people I spoke with only 1 took it seriously, her name is Sherry Cunningham and, SHE should be promoted and recognized for her customer support skills! The rest including her manager, Manuel Granillo should be FIRED. Although he did work to resolve the issue he never once called me to let me know that it was or was not fixed...BAD relations person!! He could take a lesson from his employee. Then on Sunday when I went to actually get the truck, I was there for 30 minutes trying to get the darn thing checked out...I thought I had finally gotten it correct but, found out when I tried to check it back in (and it took another 40 minutes) that I was obviously mistaken...I spent over an hour of very precious time just getting the truck checked out and in again...RIDICULOUS! Lastly, I want to say that thank GOD I did finally get the credit card situation resolved but, had I not have gone online Friday, just to check to make sure there were no issues, I would NOT have been able to get the truck on Sunday and, would have lost about $6,000 worth of my furniture...getting a rental truck should NOT cause this much stress AND to top it off, the customer service was completely unacceptable...I work for a company that is MUCH larger than U Haul and they would NEVER allow such shoddy customer service...I am very disappointed. Going forward, I will check other companies before I check U Haul when I need a truck and, as you can see by my profile that would be at least 5 to 6 times a year...also, I will let my friends and family know that they should try other options first...so, you may say that my $600 or $700 a year will not make a dent in your bottom line but, word of mouth goes a long way... As for the location of the truck which, seems to be your major concern with this survey...it was perfectly fine and the truck was also well maintained, except for the scratch on the side...what your survey should be trying to attain is what the experience was actually like for the customer...you may be very surprised by the answers. Thank you for allowing me to voice my frustration, I do appreciate that.

The length of time to complete an after/between hours check in process...usually outdoors in sometimes inclement weather...what with photos, etc. is very long. You should warn people of this so they can be prepared to spend minimally 20 minutes doing this, especially if it is outdoors in inclement weather and they are on a tight schedule. BUT...process is very efficient.

When I received text for where to pick up they changed it to different location which was very inconvenient so I called cust service and your representative in scheduling was not customer service friendly to say the least..she did upgrade me to a 10” truck at my preferred location because I was going to cancel but she left me with a bad impression of U-Haul.. I have no tolerance for bad customer service and will not use your company again.

The woman who took our reservation in Morris Plains was excellent. When we picked up our truck there was an $18 dollar charge that had to be paid. I had pre prepaid online for the truck the night before and had the receipt. No one could tell me what the additional charge was for and they seemed just as perplexed as me. The young woman at the desk called and was put on hold forever. Eventually, we had to go so we just paid.

Morgan and the crew (I believe the gentleman who helped load my car on the tow dolly was the owner, I did not get his name, he was running around like crazy helping everyone) did a great job getting my car loaded and getting me on the road. Morgan made sure that any existing damage on the truck was noted so I did not get blamed for it. When I could not find one of the many locks I own to lock up the back, the owner gave me one he had laying around. They were extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. There was confusion on the quote. I somehow booked the truck twice for a difference of $1000.00 more for the rental. The owner patiently worked with the corporate office to get the quote corrected. He knew there was some sort of mistake because my rental had show up on his board two weeks before I was scheduled to pick up the truck but the more expensive quote said it was placed two days before my scheduled pick up. He spent a good 30 to 45 minutes on the phone with the corporate office to get the correct quote. I would like to say thank you to him and Morgan and the whole crew. Everyone there is great.
