Clerk suggested that I leave without finalizing mileage and gas gauge. I insisted on him following thru and completing this step and giving me a final receipt before I left the store. There actually is a sign at the counter saying not to leave without finalizing these two things. I thought it was kinda lazy of him to suggest otherwise. He did comply after I refused his offer.

I was estimated $60 to rent a 15' truck for a couple of hours. I returned it and dropped the key off in a mailbox as instructed. When I checked my CC bill, I was charged nearly $100. I was charged for a dolly I didn't use. I was charged for a blanket I didn't use or ask for. Neither were even present in the vehicle I rented. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with the location, and now I've been on hold with the number they gave me to rectify the situation for 20 minutes. Not honest or a good experience. Who knows how many people are charged for these things and don't bother to check or call in and correct the bill. Very corrupt.

There was a homeless person sleeping in the van when i picked up. The van reaked and was dirty. I was then charged a cleaning fee.

The gas level in the van did not match the "start" level on the paperwork. It was exactly at 3/4 tank when I started and the guy said to just bring it back at 3/4. I don't know why I was charged a fuel fee?

Location perfect for me for pick up and drop off. The tire system light was on, so not sure what potential hazard that could have possibly contributed to. I don’t like to see things like tire pressure or oil change lights on when I rent a vehicle, not good. Also, not easy to find parking where you are supposed to park the truck so I had to hand the keys to the attendant to park the van. I will rent again.

Let me clarify the 3 stars. Only because I've been to other Uhaul locations, the lower stars is only aesthetic. This is a body shop that rents Uhauls. However everything . else was EXCELLENT. It was incredibly easy to check in and get my uhaul, there was one person in front of me, and everything went off without a hitch. I would definitely rent another Uhaul from this location again.

I showed up at 8:30am and at first couldn't find anyone, but then the attendant showed up. Check out was pretty quick. Return was quick also, I made sure he verified the gas and mileage (he offered to just send me an email, but I wanted to verify in person as the phone number does not seem to work) Much better than the W 23rd Chelsea location!!

Tire pressure was completely unbalanced, which made it more difficult than usual to control the vehicle at speeds above 25mph . All windows were so filthy that I could not see my mirrors without rolling the windows down, which was especially annoying because of the cold weather. All side mirrors were filthy as well. Driver side mirror was cracked, rendering it unusable. This damage had been acknowledged previously. Hence, the 'X' sticker placed on it. The inside of the vehicle reeked of urine. I have no issues with a vehicle being dirty in the winter, but many of these issues were causing unnecessary safety hazards. In the future, I think it would be wise to revise the protocol to ensure things like this are remedied prior to rental.

This U-Haul experience had three main issues: (1) Address of pick-up location misleading (2) Paperwork filed late for turn-in resulting in extra-day charge (3) Claim that I was responsible to return the truck to a different facility than I actually returned it. On the positive side, I have to say that, aside from the exorbitant phone-wait-time, the U-Haul customer phone staff at 1-800-Go-Uhaul were excellent and more than made up for the other issues. The U-Haul Email Pick Up Form listed the U-Haul address as 88 9th Ave Brooklyn. As I look at the previous email form, I see that the pick up was from DEF Auto Repair, but NO ADDRESS was given. I assumed that the pick up address was 88 9th Ave, the only address given. When I arrived at 88 9th Ave, they were not aware of my reservation. Turns out that I had to take a subway across town to 286 Park Ave. That was the actual location of DEF Auto Repair.
