After a 400 mile drive and unloading. I was ready to return the truck and trailer. Originally I had been given a South Boston drop off. Less than ten miles. After that I had four other drop off points and a phone message stating South Boston couldn'nt take it. This is not my problem. I was sent towards Danville an good hour away. The GPS took me to a Fire House!! I continued on this road until I saw a UHaul sign, only to be told they no longer did UHaul! He directed me a further five miles to a large garage with plenty of space who had UHaul trucks. The extremely nice lady in there told me this wasn't the drop off point. I showed her the plethora of texts I had and she had no idea where it was. She called the area manager. I was getting a little agitated by then. This man was brusque and not kind. He also told me the van was late as it should have been returned on the 17th ... We didn't pick it up till the nineteenth!! I explained that we have three different drop off points, South Boston couldn't take it, not my problem, the next place was a fire house and this was my one and only option. His response was he would charge me a $300 fee for it being taken to the wrong place!! This garage had offered to take the truck, they had room and were more than happy to help. He said no! Also I would be charged with a late fee for it being after the allotted time. Now I'm 67 years old and have seen a lot of rude and incompetent people but I was beginning to get a little pissed off at this point. The excellent lady in the Garage, sorted out, where the truck was to go, no late fee and no extra charges. She also figured out where the UHaul place was. Behind the convenience store next to the fire station, no sign and unless you were local no idea where it was. Off I go again. I find it, by chance more than anything and ... They are closed. Ok I will do an auto return, except the auto return app doesn't work. No where to put the milage or the gass pics!!! Thankfully a young man arrived and helped me out. He wasn't expecting the truck and wasn't sure where to park it BUT at this point I no longer cared. The lady lliana who tried to help me on the phone, was very helpful indeed with reference to the auto return, but I'm still waiting for the UHaul email in which to respond to send pics of the fuel and milage, and a receipt for the rental. It's been almost a month and nothing. Now I don't expect gold plated service, which I received from all the garages. I do expect a Major National Company like UHaul to be at least somewhat efficient and their area managers to be helpful and polite. Also some.comsideration of women of 67 years who have had a less than stellar experience. Will I recommend them to others. Not a chance. UHaul have lost any further business from me and I'm very, very disappointed that my request to speak to the complaints department has basically been ignored. DO BETTER.
