Get rid of the mileage charge. This is why I am choosing Penske over Uhaul in rural areas. To get one batch of hay for a nonprofit for kids and horses, we have to drive 188 miles. Alas Penske wasn't available for this run so we were stuck with uhaul. Making a reasonable living is one thing, but this is gouging. How about 200-300 free miles in rural areas, and then we pay a mileage charge? A little fairer. Or free one way rentals, like Penske?

I myself am a U-Haul dealer and although it was short notice at least three hours notice the UHaul truck wasn't running there was no snow wiped off the windshield I had to wipe it off with my fishing rod case the back door was actually open with about 2 feet of snow in the cab itself I mean in the cargo hold itself just something I would have not left for a customer 32536 is my dealer number

Train your personnel better. I was very distressed when the young man from UHaul who was tasked with hocking up my trailer did not attach the chains on the hitch to my car. When I asked him if he would be attaching them, he said they were too long and would drag on the ground if he did but if that is what I wanted, he would hook them up to my car. He said they were designed to be towed by a pickup and I was driving an SUV. He was ready to let me leave the lot without the safety chains attached. I told him I believed it was illegal to not have the safety chains attached when towing something, as well as being unsafe. I told him I wasn't leaving unless they were attached. He retrieved his boss who twisted the chains until they were the correct length and they no longer dragged on the ground. Not a difficult fix. I also had to ask the young man to plug in the lights, which he did, but never asked me to apply the brakes or turn on the blinkers to make sure they were functioning. If I had followed the young man's advice, I would have put many people in danger on my 300+ trip back to Minneapolis. I worry he has has put others in danger as well, over his disregard for safety. He was a nice enough kid but had clearly not been trained properly. Perhaps being a gray haired older lady had a bit to do with it. I can't quite imagine he would have been so cavalier about safety if my husband had picked up the trailer instead of me. I have had this sort of thing happen before to me and it is always disturbing.
