Picking up the unit was a very good experience. Returning the unit the following day was just the opposite. The station was very understaffed on that morning. No one was available to unhitch the unit, check for any damage or note that the inside was clean. After I unhitched, I went inside to complete the final paperwork. No one was minding the store. When a clerk finally did get behind the counter, he just took my original paperwork and placed it on the back counter and stated he would let somebody know that I had returned the trailer. Not very comforting!! I did receive a receipt by email, so I feel a little better that I won't be accused of anything that I did not do. Very unprofessional situation.

It would be really nice to see Uhaul and Porters get on the same page. I’ve rented at these locations in Lincoln City before and they never seem to get the returns right. Every time I drop off, I get a call asking when I’m returning equipment because they never get checked in. As a former employee, I can say this repeated experience is completely preventable but Porters doesn’t care enough about the Uhaul business to deal with it. Sometimes I wish I had somewhere else to get a truck.

The workspace that the U-Haul representatives have to work with is very small, not much larger than a closet. Service rep was busy helping customers, pumping gas and trying to assist a fellow who had just picked up a trailer.

Ryan was AWESOME as were the other two people. I think the woman's name was Cyndie - she was helpful too considering she came into the issue long into the chaos. People - awesome! The system - needs big help. HOWEVER, the Uhaul system doesn't seem to communicate very well with this satellite type office. First I show up on the day of my rental with a 7am pickup and nobody is working Uhaul that day. I have to wait around while the hero, Ryan, comes racing to the gas station on his day off to help me out. Then, when we check the truck the dozen pads that I was supposed to have rented were not there. I think there were five or six blankets. Then, the goddamn trailer wasn't there for the next day's pick-up. It took forever to get out of there, the equipment was not ready, all the items that I rented were not there. Ryan was able to get a car hauler to the store for the next day. I show up to get the car hauler and find out that a fuse in the truck is blown. It took somewhere around 1.25 to 1.5 hours to pick-up the goddamn trailer! Add that time to the chaos from the day before and I basically stood around the gas station for my items reserved a month in advance for 2.5 hours....and nothing was really right other than the truck was there, but with a blown fuse thus the issue with the trailer's lights that had so much time spent on it. The full on Uhaul stores are great but the only experience that I had with the little uhaul center in gas stations was awful. I am hoping that there is some consideration as to a credit. I spent something around $900 for both when it should have been me walking in, checking in, doing a quick inspection and handed the keys with 10 minutes total time spent. FYI - for some strange reason the return site for the trailer was also put into the computer different than the drop-off site for the truck. No idea what happened there or why. When I moved to the Oregon coast (and used the full on Uhaul rental center) it was great and well worth the money. Moving back - not even close to worth $900 (insurance, rental, etc). Any consideration towards that would be greatly appreciated. This move felt like a rip-off. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Missing equipment, truck not inspected on their end (broken license plate light cover, blown fuse), missing trailer, missing padding. missing employees for a prescheduled pick-up, so much time burned standing around I could have added that up and been moving shit or driving on the road.

I reserved the U-Haul almost a month before I needed it. 2days before I was given the run around of where to pick it up. Was to get extra miles and there was barely enough to cover trip. I was to get a dolly but when I went to pick it up there was no dollies so I was told I would have to go to another location to pick on up. This made for a very upsetting move. Tried to call 1800gouhal and was on the same recording for customer service for over 30 mins before I gave up.

Have the equipment staged at the location that was agreed upon. A 100 mile credit does not compensate the customer for the three hour round trip to access the equipment any more than it does the 25 gallons is fuel it took to do so.
