The vehicle was dirty inside and out, a hand truck was still inside it from someone else’s move, mileage and gas were inaccurate, and there were numerous minor damages that hadn’t been noted in the contract. There were no license plates, so our delivery was delayed by an hour while a temporary plate could be generated and emailed to us. I hope this is the last time we have to rent a uhaul vehicle.

My experience was so bad I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Uhaul's only response to my claim was questioning the distance of the nearby Starbucks - the nearest place with WiFi that I had to go to in order to access my reservation. The complaint is below. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED! From the other complaints on here, I know I'm not alone. Complaint #1: My wife and I signed up specifically to rent our van with the "Counter Pick Up" option provided by UHaul. This reservation was changed to a mobile "Truck Share 24/7" the day before the pick up without our consent. The Counter Pick Up at this location also guaranteed a UHaul representative on-site. There was no rep. on site. Merely a parking lot attendant from MPT Parking who said repeatedly "I do not work for UHaul." Complaint#2: There is no mobile or wireless service on site. I have an AT&T phone service with an iPhone XS. The lot attendant would not let me use his computer so I had to walk 20 minutes to a Starbucks to access my account. I called UHaul to give me authorization to pick up my van. When I walked back to the lot, the attendant would still not give me the keys even though a Uhaul rep. said I could. This turned into a comedy of errors with me(with terrible cell phone coverage that kept disconnecting me) on the phone with someone from UHaul attempting to verbally explain to the attendant to give me the keys. He finally was able to get a hold of his boss(?) who verbally gave him permission to hand over the keys to me. There was no signage telling me that this was a Uhaul lot and the attendant there was not a UHaul rep. who said, again, "I do not work for UHaul." I was late picking up the van becuase of all this but there was no notification in our emails that you have to pick it up specifically at the scheduled time. I attempted to get in touch with a UHaul rep. for this area on three seperate occassions over three weeks. He only returned my call after I complained to UHaul management in customer service. His name is Shaun Douglass tel#: 718-522-4859. He said he would give us a $50 refund because I was late. I have already explained why I was late and that does not explain the terrible treatment I received. We have not received the $50 but I am asking for a full refund due to Uhaul deceiving and lying to me on what service(or lack thereof) I would be receiving

This was an awful experience with Uhaul. The Uhaul “office” at this location is behind a door that looks like no one has used it in 50 years, and there isn’t a single sign saying “Uhaul” anywhere. The door is beneath an old awning that simply says “parking.” No address number either. When I called customer service, they didn’t have a phone number to the office. I even asked someone working at a shop on the other side of the building after 20 minutes of searching, and they had never heard of a Uhaul office being in the vicinity. Also, when I finally located the office, the guy who was there just handed me some keys without checking my ID or asking my name or anything. He also gave me keys to the wrong van, which I found out while trying to complete my mobile check-in, at which point I had to go back and ask for the right set of keys. Combined with some miscommunication with customer service, the ordeal delayed me by around 45 minutes. All this said, I’ve rented from Uhaul once before, and my experience then was much better. But this particular location needs to be thought out a little better. Even a piece of cardboard saying “UHAUL” taped to the door and maybe one on the fence in front of the lot would have helped tremendously.

While it was great that this location offered 24/7 service, it was a difficult spot to do my mobile pickup. It was very cold outside (15 degrees) and I had to fumble for my driver's license and ID and take pictures, and took off my gloves to do that. It also didn't help that the area was not well-covered by cell coverage, lengthening the time it took to get the pickup process completed. Hence four stars instead of five.

I chose a mobile pickup experience but I still had to obtain the keys from a clerk. And since this was the first time using the mobile share option, instruction in how to obtain the car wasn't sent to me until after my pickup schedule time which cut off my rental time by 45 minutes. The person that called to verified my rental called after my rental time was schedule and was rude and hung up on me while I was asking a question about how do I get access to the van. The process could be more seamless, maybe you should look at zipcars rentals models.

I have a slight tremor because of medication and as such I had to literally retake each photo at least 6 times till it was clear. I would like the option to select a location that has attendants to check me in and check me out . I can say I will not book future truck rentals if I can’t find a location with attendants

The outside of the van was dirty. I also noticed another van that was dirty on the outside at the location. Since this location is an unmanned one a process needs to be put in place to clean the outside of a vehicle.

First, the survey sucks. Repaint your trucks with the information plus insurance, mileage and fees. Insurance was way more than mileage or fees. Insurance cost more than the 4 hour rental. And its not a daily rental. Its a 4 hour rental. Advice people in advance that they'll be using their phones to rent. Is that what Neighborhood Rental means? And if one has to rely on a phone, I assume there are parts of the arduous process that can be done while not in front of the phone.

I had a disastrous experience because the signal strength for my cell phone was poor.. This meant that I could not sign in to the app and go through the check in process. I appreciate that it is convenient to have more locations when you don't have a full U-Haul hub - but the Long Island city area doesn't have good cell signal a lot of the time OR it is overwhelmed by the number of people using the tower... I spent 1 hr and 15 mins standing around trying to get my vehicle. I had multiple conversations with your staff and they were polite and trying to help BUT the policy of having to put a call in to someone else to validate my ID (after I sent a photo AND my own Driver's license is ridiculous... (My wife just happened to be at the gym so wasn't on her phone and I am self-employed so didn't have fellow employees to have you call) SO then your staff asked me for my passport!!!?? I mean, really??? Why would I have my passport to go and rent a Haul van? I wasn't told any of this would happen before hand and it was my first experience renting - so maybe you should let people know what to expect!!!! Finally, I think the online check in is good but my BRILLIANT IDEA, to save you folks a lot of hassle and these nasty emails, is that ALL YOUR NON-OFFICE pickup locations MUST HAVE A DEDICATED WIFI installed with a password so that we, the customer, can ALWAYS LOG IN to check in at pick up.... I expect that my compensation for the hassle and the brilliant idea will save you a fortune, so I'd be happy with a 10% cut of those savings over the next 5 years. But yesterday, after an hour and 15mins trying to get my van.... I was irate.

The parking lot attendant was not helpful saying “I don’t work for U-haul “ , had to use help of customer service by calling while it was raining. The truck was good but no accessory equipment is available. When returning, in the review I mentioned non available equipment & was given a refund. Mileage was also inaccurate (drove for 7 miles & was billed for 17 miles). Customer service was very helpful though.

There are no utility dolleys, no furniture pads and no equipment whatsoever at all... The maintenance guy was very nice and helped a lot!

I was unaware that I had to book and complete the process by phone using the limited access to wifi in that location. If this is a process that is consistantly happening, there should be a wifi hot spot for customers.

The fact that the operator did not warn me that this wasn't an actual uhaul site and that i had to cancel out my 1st reservation and manually make another it was too much that i had to go thru in order to get my van and the wifi in that lot was horrible i had to go to the post office with 6% battery on my cell that was so frustrating
