A manager, came late, he was not polite, also he was angry about a computer and fax machine which did not have paper and low ink. The van was darty outside with scratches which a manager did not show me . A van blocked by another cars, means it was not ready .

Worst customer service I've ever encountered. "Manager" finally called us after an hour and fifteen minutes past our reservation time to tell us that he had "nothing to do with uhaul" that we didn't have an 8am reservation because they don't open until 9, that the uhaul lock boxes on the street weren't his responsibility, and then told me I could "get your truck somewhere else" and that he was going to "call his secretary and tell them not to rent to us." We stood for an hour in the rain because he forgot to park our van on the street and leave the keys in the lock box and that was his response. Never using Uhaul again.

The van was filthy, both in and outside. The place was a little off the grid. The employee who took care of me did a great job. She was courteous, knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend this place simply because of her! The address should be in the initial email. It took me quite sometime to find it.

This was not an actual uhaul location, but merely a uhaul sign hung up on a fence. When we showed up to our 10:30 am reservation there was no one to be found, I called the number on the sign outside and was told the workers left to "grab some breakfast"and they'll be back soon. It was 30 degrees outside and there was no where to wait, we were with 2 other customers waiting. They finally arrived at 11am (one of the other customers had a 10am reservation). By the time it was our turn and had to wait another 20 mins, we were told the computer system shut down and they had to do a system upgrade to their computer and the worker was not fully trained on inputting the information in the system and had to keep calling someone else for instructions. Over an hour later we finally got our keys, signed the form and left. It wasn't until after that I noticed we had been charged collision insurance that I had rejected when making my online reservation. Not only were we set back over an hour for our move but we were overcharged and not told about the collision insurance being added to our bill. Horrible experience, no customer service at all. Would not recommend to anyone.

The woman who facilitated the rental was nice, but that's the only plus. At this location, the policy is, upon truck return, renters must find valid street parking for the storage of rented trucks . We cannot simply bring the truck to the return office and hand in the keys. The neighborhood this is in, doesn't have much valid street parking. It took me about 40 minutes to find somewhere to park it before I could return the keys. What's worse, this policy wasn't stated up front. I found out when I was returning the vehicle and I was in an extreme rush.

The service is done through a cellphone, so it's slow a looks weird. Dropping off the truck was difficult. Very hard to find a parking spot.

The place from where I got the Uhaul truck was a great help. It's the on-the-phone customer service that was trash. The ladies all gave me attitude. One lady told me that they had moved my rental location for me as requested and when I got to the place it was closed. This happened twice. On the day I finally got to pick up the truck the lady had scheduled me to pick up the truck at 630pm. Luckily I got to the rental place at 6pm which was apparently the closing time and he said that he had spoken to the lady to reschedule and she said "ok" but never got in contact with me to inform me that my rental time was moved. The man at the place stayed late and helped me get my rental truck and I am grateful for him.

When I reserved the truck on-line I specifically noted that I would be renting it in Astoria in the morning and returning it to the 23rd Street Manhattan location shortly thereafter, traveling a distance of less than ten miles. When I returned the truck in Manhattan I discovered that I should have returned it to Astoria, where I picked up the rental. So the fee for the rental was $245 instead of $58. This was, to say the least, an expensive lesson in reading the fine print and making sure the rental agent knows my plans. It might also be good if you instruct your agents to always make sure the customer is aware of where s/he must return the truck. Although I am a loyal UHaul customer, in the future I will always get several quotes from your competition

My overall experience was good, but I don't feel well about the hidden charges. On the advertisement the price per day was $19.95 and I ended up paying over $75!

Uhaul needs to better vet their Uhaul locations. The authorized place I rented from in Astoria, ny was shady. This was the only location near me. Their location looked like a chop shop, it was a junk yard and their office was in a trailer. the truck was given to me completely covered in bird shit. They had a different starting mileage down and tried scam me by trying to charge me for 500 miles when I only went 70 that day. They also said I could return the truck before they closed at 6, my friend and I got their at 5 and they didn't want to settle the final bill. They said they would email it to me. I made them settle it then and there cause of how uneasy I felt of their unethical business practices. They also charged my card twice several days after the bill was settled and had to deal with my bank to get refunded. They know have flagged the business for future unauthorized charges. Never again, terrible experience. On top of that I called Uhaul and they didn't seem to care.

I need your help, you are charging us for miles we did not use! Somebody else must have used the van, we just drove less than 30 miles! Please revise your systems, we cannot pay the amount is not fear, I have pictures that we just drove from East Elmhurst to Maspeth!! You are charging for 400 miles and we rented the Van for less than 7 hours it's impossible!! We feel so disappointed for the service!! Francy

Crooks!!! Personnel drive vehicles (I assume for personal errands) and rack up miles.... then charge the unsuspecting customer per mile for the additional miles. Refuse refund because I didn’t take a picture of the odometer at pick up and drop off to prove my mileage. Of course, conveniently at the time of pick up and drop off I was never instructed to take pictures of the odometer. Over $70 in illegal mileage charges. BEWARE!!!

Scam You gave me the van stinking like wet dog and covered with bird shit all over and charged me 25 bucks for cleaning fee because of maybe very little glass sprinkles and you invented a bunch of charges and I've got overcharged by the end. I'm never more hiring your service again.
