It has nothing to do with the location and has to do with the uhaul app. The app does not work for this location since the vehicles are brought down by the elevator. You should have these locations tagged in your app.

Excellent and quick.

There are a lot of additional fees that were not expected. This is not acceptable.

Someone should remind your associates that they work in a service industry....NO ONE smiles or thinks about the customer first. Instead everyone seemed to either bark a command at you or not be descriptive enough to know what to do next. The equipment and convenience is what keeps you busy, not your people who interact with your clients.

I had a 10 am rental. I waited in line for OVER AN HOUR. There were 3 people working with about 20 customers in line. There should be twice as many people working here - it is unfair to your employees and unfair to paying customers who reserved at specific times for a reason. I won't be returning to this location.

We returned the U-Haul and got a phone call the next morning asking if we still had the U-Haul because they couldn't locate it... finally I got a receipt but it said that the U-Haul had been returned a day late. So I'm checking my bank statement every day to make sure I'm not overcharged

There was a little confusion as to where the truck was. The truck was immaculate.

Truck OK, facility kind of slow but OK, overpriced, add fees and gimmicks to charge you more money.
Adrian B. on
The wait was half an hour to get a truck checked out. The facility fee iis as high as the advertised rental charge.Effectively doubling the price before the miles are added. This is false advertising/bait-and-switch.

Don't promise quick mobile pickup when customers have to wait in line for 45 mins to check in. Moving is something that by nature is tome bound. People have movers waiting and a timeline to get out of their old place and into the new one. If I have to wait in a line of 35 people or more it would at lease be nice to know that beforehand to plan the day accordingly.

The first cargo van offered had 1/8 tank of gas. Given the relative lack of gas stations in Manhattan, that is simply unacceptable. The woman handling my paperwork insisted that that was the only cargo van available to me. I had to protest; a different person intervened and gave me a different van with a near full tank.

Very rude staff. Did NOT accept mobile pickup despite allowing me to check in from my phone and saying it did online. Instead i waited 45 min in line. Will never use uhaul again, will find a local rental place

Everything went very well no complaints. My one concern was I picked up the Truck with1/4 of a tank of gas and returned it with over 1/2. I was told U-haul does not give a credit for retuning a vehicle with more gas. I find this unfair on U-Haul's part seeing they will charge if returning with less gas. This should be corrected

Desk service/check in was excellent. Actually getting the vehicle was a little confusing but ok.

Everything was perfect. Staff was helpful, cargo van was available when I arrived, no waiting to check in when I returned.

Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad experience at this U-Haul location. While the process of picking up my rented van was fine, and the employee working the desk was very friendly, I was NOT told about a pretty big issue considering my checkout window: there is no overnight dropoff at this location. While this by itself is no reason for alarm, as sometimes I imagine providing an overnight dropoff is either impractical or dangerous, it was a huge problem for me. I reserved my van for a 4-hour window, starting at 5:15PM (when the process of checking out a van was completed). However, this location closes at 8:30PM, a full 45 minutes before my window would be over. So when I returned from Brooklyn to Chelsea to drop off the van at 9:15PM, the store was already closed. Then, I called Customer Service, who weren't able to answer because of "high volume". Since there was only a printed sign advising that if I left the van, it would get towed at my own expense, I was left on my own to find a solution. I found street parking a few blocks away, locked the vehicle, kept the key with me, and then returned home. I then have to come BACK to Chelsea, a 1 hour trip from my house, in the morning just to return the key. This is a huge oversight, and honestly, a pretty terrible customer experience that could have been avoided by a marginal increase in empathy and awareness from the staff. Simply warning a customer during check-in that their rental window just MIGHT conflict with not having overnight dropoff could have prevented all of this.

I've never had a big problem with U-Haul before this rental. Every step of the way was one thing after another. The original location that we requested to pick up (East 10th and Ave D), apparently isn't a true pick up location (they said they had one truck, and it was out for the day). UHaul did send us a notification, to which we didn't see right away (and that IS on us...but everything after....) We took a taxi to the West 23rd street location, and was told by the counter agent that our needed cargo van was changed to a 10ft truck. We specifically requested a cargo van, as the furniture we were moving did not require much space. I requested to see a manager at this point, as we're now on Strike 2. The manager saw us, and was not happy with the amount of questions I was asking...I guess she felt I was annoying, as I was trying to learn information for future rentals. I work with Camera Equipment Rentals, so I would guess that our processes are not too different from each other....but I guess it was too much for her. I did express that it wasn't the operation of the vehicle that I was concerned about, but the space. I was told that since we were not returning at that location, that I couldn't get the cargo van that I REALLY needed. I worked it out with her to get some furniture blankets and a dolly on the house to call it even. The manager agreed. I could sense the frustrated attitude of the counter agent and manager...My companion is convinced that their "hatred of their jobs" caused the bad attitude...they were a little less than pleasant. However, because the manager worked with me a little, I gave it a pass. I was trying to remain positive, as we still had a bunch of work ahead of us, and I now have a 10 ft box truck to maneuver through NYC.

We are currently being charged for graffiti that was on the truck when we received it. I am not happy or satisfied because I can't get a human to discuss this with.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I booked online specifically for a location where I can pickup and drop off after hours. I had issues with the automatic pick up, so before I dropped off I called uhaul to make sure I could drop off after hours. The woman on the phone CONFIRMED it. She said they close at 9pm but I can drop off anytime. I came at 930pm and there was a sign taped to the door that said drop offs must be before 830pm. I wasted time, gas, money, miles to go back home and come back in the morning. It is UNACCEPTABLE and I should be refunded for part of my uhaul rental.

The staff was very unprofessional. Once we turned the truck back in and were checked out, we got a call to return 5 minutes later telling us that we were going to be charged for something in a very rude and rushed manner. Once we got there, the person who called never even came out of his office to talk with us but rather made us stand there and wait for him. At the end of a long day of moving, we do not need this sort of stress and believe it should be dealt in a more collected and professional manner.

Allow easy app pickup for clients who have multiple uses at the location. Be prepared for this as it avoids people having to wait in line

The check out process was a nuisance. It couldn’t be done by the guys in the return area.
