The return process after hours stinks. My contract said I could bring it back my 9pm. I dropped my truck off at 8pm. I didn't take the necessary pictures so I could utilize the uhaul.com return process. I called the number for the location expecting to leave a vm, but instead the line was picked up by someone. I started that I dropped off the truck, etc. He stated that that was fine. The next day I see an additional $40 charge and the fuel return amount is less than what I put in. At this point my card is already charged $110, when the original amount was $70. It took me calling them to the the amount corrected. The "extra" charge was 100% their error. They charged me for another day. Uhaul you get ONE chance when it comes to customer service and making it right. This location (8222 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston, SC 29418) new they overcharged me and didn't immediately correct it. I can guarantee I won't be utilizing this location ever again. I'll be sure to post this mistake on social media to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else.

The truck was at a different location than I ordered it from, however the lady i picked it up from was pleasant. The alignment was off and the engine had issues. Still it worked for the day. Upon returning I filled it to where it was, plus some. I was STILL charged for fuel. The manager argued over a fuel amount of less than 1 gallon and charged me. I would NOT recommend them to others.

The rate per mile and details concerning the estimate were not explained throughly. When I asked for a receipt and printed contract, I was told the printer has no ink and to go to another store to get a receipt. Things happen, but as a place of business this is not conducive to customer satisfaction.

My reservation was for the meineke store on Ashley Phosphate at 8am. When I arrived i was told I didn't have a rental waiting for me. I spent 45 minutes in the store waiting for them to figure it out. It wasn't until the Dorchester rd store called me and asked where I was because I was almost an hour late. I headed there and they apologized for my inconvenience and gave me the customer service I expected all along. Uhaul as a company needs to improve their communication with customers. Especially if they intend on changing reservation details. An email or a courtesy call would have been nice...

The young lady and young gentleman were very pleasant and professional. I expected a more lengthy check in/check out but was met with efficiency on both counts, each taking about 2 minutes. It was the easiest part of my day!

The equipment had issues in the way to my first location 2 hrs away I had to call a repairman to come look at it. I explained where the issue was. He regected my diagnosis and told me I would be alright. Then the truck broke down on me on my return trip and I had to wait in 90+ degree weather on the side of the road for two hours while I waited on a tow truck. Then the branch charged me for the faulty equipment

The pickup process was quick and painless. However the drop off process was very disappointing and frustrating. I had coordinated with U-Haul customer service to hold on to the appliance dolly for an additional day so that I would be able to drop it off at the Dorchester location in North Charleston shortly after opening on Saturday 3 June. The same employee that had completed my rental agreement two days prior was the one that was there that morning and simply took the dolly and said that I was good to go. I then received a phone call stating that the equipment had not been returned when in fact it had been. I immediately called the Dorchester location and explained that I had in fact returned the equipment to the employee that had answered the phone, I also described the employee that I had returned the item to but she still stated that she had no idea who I was describing. She then went on to say that I would have to call the customer service center to get the issue resolved. As you can imagine, I was very frustrated that I did my due diligence of returning the piece of equipment that I had rented and was told that I was good to go when in fact that was not the case and yet I had to make additional phone calls unnecessarily for an issue that was not my fault. In addition, the dolly had some wear and tear which is why I said that the equipment was not clean and well maintained. I've rented U-Haul equipment before (moving truck and trailer), but I can honestly say that I am very disappointed with the level of service that I received from this U-Haul location, in addition to the poor communication that seems to exist at the Dorchester location, which is why I will more than likely not rent equipment from U-Haul again. I wanted to use the Johns Island location and wasn't told to use North Charleston until the day before. Also, they were impacted by a new computer program that had just gone live. Both were UHaul issues not related to the people at the location.
